Itinerary
After pickup from your Rio hotel, your half-day tour begins at the historic Rio de Janeiro Botanical Garden. See a variety of exotic plants from all over the planet at this world-famous garden, which is home to water lilies, huge redwood trees, imperial palm trees and a famous greenhouse that houses more than 500 kinds of orchid. The garden also houses fountains, historical monuments and hundreds of birds.
After your guide picks you up from your hotel in Rio, hop in an open Jeep and buckle up for a fun ride! Drive to the edge of the cityscape and enter Tijuca Forest, located just 10 minutes from the city center. You’ll hear about the important reforestation program of Tijuca National Park and learn the importance of the Mata Atlântica ecosystem — part of the vast and protected Mata Biosphere Reserve, which covers 14 states in Brazil.
Admire Cascatinha Taunay, an iconic waterfall perfect for photos.
Explore the Visitor Center to learn about local biodiversity.
Enjoy the beautiful view of the city, as did the Royal family several times. It was at this table that Dom Pedro I, when he wanted a meal in the middle of one of the most beautiful views, would leave his residence at Quinta da Boa Vista and, with his cart, would head towards Estrada da Vista China. At an altitude of 487 meters above sea level, the Emperor's Table is set against stunning views of the city, counteracting urbanization and nature. Stairs surrounding the parapet of the area lead the tourist to the edge of a concrete ramp, making the tourist feel in the midst of a splendid setting.
Take a short stop at this historical chapel. The little pink chapel in the middle of the woods, 460 meters above sea level, resembles a house of children's history. It was erected in 1860 by the Portuguese banker Viscount de Souto inside his farm, in Tijuca Forest. The Chapel is one of the attractions of Tijuca National Park. Adorn the altar reproductions of panels with holy images of Cândido Portinari. The gardens, as well as the Carrara marble and tiled patio tub with frowning spout, were designed by landscape designer Roberto Burle Marx.
See the beautiful waterfall during the hike
Get a nice perspective from the Tijuca Rainforest. At Vista Chinesa (Chinese View), capture sweeping views of Ipanema and Copacabana beaches, Guanabara Bay and even as far as Niteroi. The lookout was built between 1902 and 1906. The oriental-style pagoda is a reference in honor of the Chinese who brought tea cultivation to Brazil in the early 19th century. Made of bamboo and cement, and situated 380 meters above sea level, it is an important tourist spot in the city. * Due to Forest regulations, it is not possible to visit Vista Chinesa (Chinese View) on Saturdays, Sundays and holidays.

I went with my wife and parents in-law and had the best time! We loved the open air while driving and learning about different areas of Rio on the drive. There are a couple stops for overlooks to take pictures. The waterfall in Tejuca Forest was beautiful and there is a part at the bottom you can swim in briefly if you want. The admission to this is included but you will need cash for the botanical garden entrance (about 80 BR per person). The botanical garden was also lovely. Helen was an amazing tour guide for our English speaking group!
Terrible communication I booked a whole day before for a 8am tour guide for them to pick me up at a location they had on there website for pick up and they never showed up so I called and they said it was full even though I booked a whole day before and they wanted to change the time to 1:30pm instead of the time I picked very unprofessional
Fabulous tour. We were picked on on time with very informative guide. Could not fault at all. Would highly recommend,
We asked multiple times for a pick up time for 2 days with no response. I knew your was 1:30. So waited at my pick up area from 12:30 to 2:30 and no one came. The phone. Umber did not work to call anyone. What a waste of my day. Not happy at all.
Lovely visit to the rain forest an botanical garden with an excellent guide. Other guests cancelled so I hade this trip bu myself, so it could meet my interests. Lucky me. This was far nicer than standing in lines and in huge crowds at the Redeemer statue or Sugarloaf.
The open-air tour is truly amazing and goes beyond just the Botanical Garden and Tijuca Park. In the Botanical Garden, you can take beautiful photos with palm trees and monkeys. The tour guides you to the most beautiful spots, offering amazing views of the entire city. The guide was very kind, and we were able to ask many questions about the nature and the history of the city. We were also dropped off very close to our hotel and got to see Rio by night. I recommend this tour because it truly shows the variaty of Rio.
At first the tour guide told me the ticket to the botanical gardens was not included. I had to show my confirmation to prove it . Next we were late leaving for some reason so we were rushing through the whole tour. Once we got to the botanical gardens the tour guide told other people in the tour they need to pay for tickets. I told them to check confirmation and sure enough their tickets were included also. The tour guide then had to call to confirm which probably took 15 min. By this time it was 4:15 with the gardens closing at 5. It was supposed to be a 2 hour tour of the botanical gardens. We didn’t even stay until 5 so it was a 30 minute tour of the botanical gardens. Also the tour guide seemed to know very little about the botanical gardens. The jeep is very noisy so it was hard to hear tour guide. We should get a refund!
This tour is overrated we did not get what we paid for ,the open air jeep has no seatbelts every time you turn a corner it felt like you were about to fly out
This tour was just okay. We were not able to drive into the Tijuca Rainforest (half the tour) due to bad weather the previous day, but there was no offer to reduce the amount paid. Our guide was just okay, he was not super informative and not very energtic. If you want to visit the Jardim Botanico, I'd advise just taking a taxi or Uber and it is easy to buy an entrance ticket
This was an awesome tour!! So fun. The tour guide was so knowledgeable, personable and funny I would 100% recommend!!!!
The other couple did not arrive for the 0800 AM tour so there was just me. Driver Gilmar and Guide Everton spoilt me. They catered for a 76yo lady with complete care and attention. Everton showed a love as well as knowledge for the plants in the Botanical Garden. He was so proud. The rainforest tour was then the icing on the cake. I highly recommend this tour and these wonderful people. Susan Smith Australia
The organizer cancelled my trip and stopped replying to me and im still waiting for the refund, no news! I lost 115€ and the trip
Extremely knowledgeable guide — he knew about so many things and I feel like I learned a great deal . However, the tour is marketed as a Jeep tour so I thought it would be “more Jeep, less walking” but there is a lot of getting on and off the Jeep. For older people or disabled, getting up and down so often will be difficult. I had requested more of a motorized tour but they kept coming to stops and made to get off.
Excellent local guide who is from a favela and explained local culture and the park details very well.
We booked this tour because we wanted to see both places and wanted education when we were there. The tour did feel a bit rushed and these places should be done separately. Our tour guide was 80 years old and was very knowledgeable about lots of trees. I would have liked to see more of the forest but as I said both places in one tour made it feel rushed.
The botanical garden and Tijuca Forest were incredible! And the Chinese Vista had amazing views of Rio. We absolutely loved riding in the jeep and learning from such a knowledgeable guide. Highly recommend!
Really enjoyed the tour and history of the rain forest. The botanical gardens were interesting learning about and seeing the various tree species. Guides were great.
George was an excellent tour guide and photographer. He got great shots of us and knew so much about the history of the forest and the garden. I would recommend this tour for anyone who loves learning about the rich history of Brazil.
Great experience - saw a lot and would definitely go again. Guide was wonderful and we enjoyed the excursion.
Henry and Maria were amazing! I learned so much from the tour with Henry in the Botanical Garden and the Tijuca Rain Forest
This was a great experience! We had the jeep tour to ourselves (2 people), and Paloma the guide and Alissandro (not sure on spelling) the driver were very nice on a sunny Sunday morning in Rio. The weather was great, and we would recommend this tour to anyone with a few extra hours in Rio looking for a way to escape the city/traditional beaches for the garden and rainforest. :)
Tour guid was really funy and knowldegeable he gave me a lot information about the city ,people garden ,forest and favela .we are reslly enjoy it.
We were the only couple on today's tour so it was very nice to have our own guide and driver. The botanic gardens are amazing and the knowledge of our guide was first class, the ticket office was painfully slow and when we eventually got to the desk we were delighted to get seniors discount. The amazing waterfall in the forest was unbelievable. We saw some wild life and then headed back to our hotel passing by some spectacular scenery. My only disappointment was the amount of time in the forest, I thought we would have more than the 20 minutes we were given.
It never took place and I m still waiting for my refund with everyone ignoring my emails. The tour operator cancelled, no one came for the pick up.
Our jeepney tour with Lucia and her driver was an unforgettable experience! From the start, Lucia’s deep knowledge and passion for the area made the tour engaging and informative. She shared fascinating historical and cultural insights that truly enriched our journey. Her driver was equally impressive, navigating the busy streets with ease and ensuring a smooth ride throughout. Despite visiting during the carnival, which led to some road closures and restricted access to certain attractions, Lucia and her driver went above and beyond to adapt the itinerary. Their flexibility and commitment to delivering a top-tier experience were truly commendable. Even with the unexpected detours, they made sure we didn’t miss out on the essence of the tour, taking us to alternative sites and providing unique experiences that exceeded our expectations. Their effort to accommodate changes seamlessly and maintain a fun and immersive experience was greatly appreciated. Overall, this was an exceptional tour, and we highly recommend Lucia and her team for anyone looking to explore the area in an authentic and exciting way!
It was a great time and well worth the price. George is a wonderful, funny and knowledgeable guide. The ride over was great with an open air truck that let you feel the breeze and see Rio from a new angle. Highly recommend for an active activity in Rio.
Loved this tour, we had a great time and saw some amazing sights - even some animals! Our guide and driver were wonderful.
It was ok not much to see and no wildlife we didn’t see one thing The guide was a nice guy though Basically we wandered through a garden with a nice lake feature abd looked at trees In The rainforest There was a small waterfall which was a nice feature
We had George & Alexandro for our tour. They were brilliant. George gave us lots of information about brazil, the area, the forest & his life. Alexandro stopped the jeep for unexpected monkeys in the forest.OMG so cute. We even went to a restaurant they recommended that was round the corner from our hotel.
Loved being in a Jeep in the open air. Great driver. Informative guide. Great short day trip to start our time in Rio. Good stops for photo ops.
It was one of my best excursions in Rio de Janeiro. The park is beautiful. I strongly recommend it to everyone to visit here.
Great ride with very knowledgeable guides , George, who was very informative. He also spoke many different languages well
Very enthusiastic tour guide-made sure we stopped at all the best places and took time to take great photos and videos of us. Very enjoyable trip with comfortable jeep.
It was terrible. The jungle was closed and it rained so much. I would like a refund. Don’t recommend getting if it’s raining
Luciano our tour guide was great. Super friendly and very knowledgeable. Keep in mind, the jeep has no roof. So bring bug spray, sunblock and recommend to bring pants or jeans. Shorts are fine but their are bugs in the rain forest. So be smart. The tour itself was a lot of fun and great to see all the highlights.
I had a great time in the forest and at the botanic gardens! The guide was very knowledgeable and helpful.
The ride in the open jeep gave us a really great view of the city. Just to smell the fresh and sun on my face was amazing. Our tour guide was very informative and kind. He pointed out so many interesting things. Please remember your bug repellent. The mosquitoes were relentless. The waterfall at the end was worth the very short hike.
Nice trip in open-bed jeep. Amelia, our guide, was very friendly and attentive. Time at botanical gardens could have been longer but the rain forest was very interesting. One suggestion is to advise on their advertising that entry to the botanical gardens requires cash. Fortunately we had enough. I would recommend this tour.
Good morning out, Sergio was an excellent guide and very knowledgable about wildlife, history and Rio de Janeiro. Would have been top marks had we visited on a weekday as too many people in the forest to enjoy.
The guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. He shared many many interesting facts and not just about the Botanical Garden and Tijuca national park. Loved the jeep ride! The other people in the group were also very friendly and nice. Had lots of fun on this tour. Definitely recommend it for everyone 🙂
Was a great tour! Stopped at many beautiful viewpoints. The forest was breathtaking. Sergio did a great job of explaining the history and appreciated him taking lots of pictures. Would definitely recommend as open air Jeep was a lot of fun.
Great morning tour, only 6 people, plenty of room in the back of the jeep. Excellent guide and driver, very knowledgeable and happy to answer all questions. Sergio our guide happy to take photos, which is very important when travelling as a couple. Plenty to be seen in the rainforest but like any tour with possible sightings of local fauna it's "hit and miss". Thoroughly enjoyed our tour
the rainforest tour was very good we walk through the forest and take beautiful pictures see different type of plants and nature the guide was very nice and his knowledge about the area was very good the jeep was comfortable . but i didn't visit the BOTANIC garden it was missing from the tour.
Amazing views, comfortable Jeep, knowledgeable guide, on time, everyone should go!!! We saw toucans, monkey and many other birds. The garden is full of beautiful trees that I’ve never seen before.
It was lovely to ride through the streets of rio and into the edge of the rainforrest. You need to be fit enough to walk in the heat. It was lovely pretty place in botanical gardens, and visited the chinese temple viewpoint and into tijuka rainforrest area incuding waterfalls. Did see some birds- vultures, parakeets and spider monkeys. The tour lasts around 4 hours.

Nice overview of the area and great lookouts over the city.

This tour was great! Our guide Marcello was terrific to say the least!!! He is very knowledgeable on so many subjects,,,,,,both in the Botanical Garden and the Rainforest EcoTour. Great driver too. .Fabulous day and I highly recommend this experience.

It's a good trip but could do with longer in the botanical gardens and definitely in the rainforest.

Great tour of Rio wildlife and forest. Taken on the tour on an open top jeep which added to the tour. Recommend!
