Historical Downtown And Lapa - Walking Tour

Really enjoyed the free walking tour in Rio. Our guide was really friendly and welcoming and very informative of the area. The tour took 3 hours but felt very quick in a good way as I really enjoyed it. There was time for a quick toilet break and drink refill which was good. The guide answered everyone's questions and gave good suggestions for what to do, eat, where to go in Rio. Really enjoyed it and would recommend as the tour is free and you can give tips at the end no minimum is required.

Excellent! Rafael was an awesome and really sympa guide. It was my second time in Rio, but this time I was with my parents, and we had no much budget. This tour was ideal, economical, historical, perfect to take pics and pay attention to cultural places and also a way to reconnect with Brazil.

Disappointed that our tours booked in English were cancelled due to a minimum of 3 people needed in order to conduct the tours. The fine print does state that a minimum of 3 are needed but we would have been happy to tip more to meet the minimum. Both tours were cancelled a few hours before the scheduled start time. Our time in Rio was limited and thus it was impossible to find an alternative at the last minute. Wish we had had some warning a few days in advance and we could have prepared a backup plan.

Great tour visiting the historical sites of Rio. Visited the oldest cafe in Rio and some of the other cathedral and squares in the area. Would do other tours if had the time.

I Did the free walking tour in the historic center and in the neighborhood of Santa Teresa, I really enjoyed both, the guides were knowledgeable and open to any questions. Super recommend

The Guide Raffael gave a nice insight of the city center. Paired with some really nice historic information. If you want you can get any recommendation for food or other stuff worth to do in the city.

Juliana was so fun! She was high energy and you could tell she loves her job. There were 5 of us on the tour, we walked about 3 miles at an average pace and it was cool out. If the sun was beating down, not sure I would of enjoyed it was much. Lots of beautiful buildings with great history behind each. We walked on a Saturday and the markets were open and this added to the excitement of the tour. Juliana spoke in both English and Portuguese. She was easy to chat with and shared her own experiences living in Rio. I felt like a friend was welcoming me to the city! I recommend requesting Juliana if you want a fairly quick (3hr) and educational experience/tour with F-U-N of Rio with a bit of exercise.

Did the historical walking tour with Rio by foot. Our guide Rafael did this “history class” very interesting and fun, he had a lot of energy and seemed to like his job. The tour is great to see and learn more about Rio than just Copacabana and Christ the Redeemer ;)

So much information with a great guide , the tour in the central historical of the city and you will knew almost all the Brazilian history

We went on the free walking tour today and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Our tour guide was Rafael, he was really good. His historical knowledge was excellent, we found it very interesting and informative and much better to sightsee with knowledge. He made us feel safe and was able to answer all our questions.There were lots of photo opportunities. We finished at the steps, they were brilliant. The tour is free however you can tip at the end which we did as he was very good. We would recommend this tour, you meet at the Theatro municipal at 10:30am, look out for their green shirts. Enjoy! :)

We had a really lovely guide called Rafael, who showed us all the main attractions and gave us a debrief of the history of the city. He showed us various original structures including the library, theatre, an old bakery, several churches, and the steps. After the tour, we stopped for lunch at a place he recommended, the ambience was great and the food was delicious. Highly recommended. We didn't know what the structure was before booking, nor did we realise how the tours operate - do take money to pay the guides as a "pay the value you wish to pay". We checked some of the places recommended afterwards in our own time - there are galleries and museums you can pay to enter - and we're glad we had a local to point us in the right direction - well worth it.

The guide Rayne was excellent to explain all the history of the visited places and overall i learnt a lot about Rio.

I participated in the free walking tour guided by Rafael Guerra. He was excellent and everything was perfect. Rafael's voice was clear, his accent was understandable and he had great knowledge of downtown. I recommend this to everyone looking for an inexpensive and fun experience.

Our tour was with Rafael and I can't express how great the tour went! The information he provided definitely help me understand the history about Rio de Janeiro. He is so passionate for what he does that he slips some humor when it is needed. The day my friends and I decided to go on, it was very sunny= HOT but, Rafael made sure that was the last thing we thought about. If you have any questions (even if it's not related to the history/tour e.g. carnaval, places to visit etc) he will gladly and honestly answer them!

Our tour was with Rafael and the five stars go to him: very good English and polite, gave a lot of insight and answered the hundreds of questions that we asked on daily life, carnival, politics, history, where to go, what to eat, etc. Obrigado! :)

Fernanda was an excellent guide, she gave us so many details in an amazing way.

WORST TOUR OF MY LIFE!!! I didn't think it was a good tour (the guide said nothing important, it was the same as seeing the places on my own). It was the first time that on a free walking tour at the end, Randu's guide forced me to pay him a fee of 50 reais per person. Nothing like this ever happened to me, a disaster the service!! I recommend you do anyone but this one!

The schedule of the tour is by site and MT simple. I made the tour of the centre of Rio, with an emphasis on the historical part and urban development of the region. The guide Rafael accompanied me and I only have compliments to the professional. Rafael is lively, polite, attentive, a lot of knowledge about the region, history and monuments of Rio, in addition to good tips for eating in the center. The walk was amazing and I didn't even see the time pass. I'm telling TDS Q to pass through Rio and walk with the agency staff. Next time q is in RJ I'll look for them again.

Good alternative, another way to meet. Very well the Riana guide. They told us part of the history of Brazil and Rio de Janeiro.
