Half Day Hiking And Climbing Adventure At Sugarloaf Mountain

This was an excellent tour involving some technical hiking and relatively easy rock climbing. Great for adventurous hikers or people looking for basic climbing with incredible scenery. Very few people on the route so feels much more private than taking the cable car.

Thomas is a very passionate guide. He explained every step clearly so that I'm prepared and can keep up with him. He waited rather patiently when I needed to catch some breath. He proactively reached out to arrange the time between us (was only me that day so I had a VIP tour!!). He knows about the surroundings with plenty hiking experiences. Overall this was my first time outdoor rock climbing, and he had made it a perfect experience for me! Oh by the way, he took amazing photos and videos too!!!!

I had a wonderful full day of climbing and hiking with Thomas. He is super professional and knowledgeable about the terrain, history of the region, and had great suggestions after the hike.

About the guide: Thomas was SPECTACULAR. We were two 22yo women. One of us had some hiking experience and one of us none and he was very mindful of our pace and our needs. He also taught us a lot of interesting things as we passed along trees and sites, and wasn't focused only on hiking. Thomas said he takes groups of up to 6 people, but we were the only two that day. The hike was amazing, we got to see incredible views and push our limits further than we thought. Taking the cable car up to Pão de Açucar probably gives you 10% of the views and experience that hiking does. Some of the parts of the hike were a little scary but Thomas did a great job keeping us safe and happy. If you're thinking of hiking, DO IT AND TAKE THOMAS WITH YOU. If we ever return to Brazil, we'll definitely contact him again!! About The hike: The hike starts out with a walk from Red Beach to the base of Pão de Açucar and then you hike steeply up several slabs of rock (mind your footing!). There's a small section where you need a harness to climb the rocks and then the last third of the trail is a normal hiking trail through trees. As you go up the mountain, the view only gets more breathtaking. Thomas recommended that we pause to enjoy the view before getting to the very top where the people who took the cable car were, and boy was he right. All in all, we were thrilled with our experience and it was absolutely WORTH IT.

My guided climb up Sugarloaf Mountain with Thomas was absolutely amazing! Wow! The hike was simple a must when visiting this amazing city. From the off Thomas kept me informed with the weather updates, meeting point and time. The hike was well planned, safety being a primary consideration but made in such a way that it was fun. Wir haben unseren Kletterausflug mit Thomas sehr genossen. Er war pünktlich am Treffpunkt. Er hat uns anfangs ein paar Klettertechniken gezeigt, die uns hinterher erleichterten den Zuckerhut zu erklimmen. Er ist immer gut gelaunt gewesen und hat uns motiviert. Er hat uns aber auch etwas über die Flora und Fauna rund um den Zuckerhut erzählt. In der Klettersektion haben wir uns stets sicher und gut betreut gefühlt. Unbezahlbar waren die schönen Fotos, die er von uns während des Klettereignisses gemacht hat. Ich kann dieses Erlebnis jedem empfehlen, der mal etwas Unkoventionelles erleben möchte.

Professional, punctual, reassuring, funny, this approach is quite athletic, but Thomas takes the time needed, with the necessary number of breaks, and the climbing part is done under optimal safety conditions. Super cool and beautiful hike that I can recommend to anyone who is not afraid of heights! Thomas is a super likable guide who gives you a lot of security. He also makes sure in advance that the tour really suits you.
