Pros and cons Lots of kids, and parents let them run wild. Bathroom on boat was yuck. Decent price for all day on a boat. About 5 hours on a bus. Kids probably had a blast. Staff worked hard getting food out.

Itinerary
Cais de Santa Luzia is a complex located in the center of Angra dos Reis, considered the most traditional point of departure for visitors to the islands and schooner tours. It faithfully represents a little of the history and tradition of the municipality, mainly because it joins the fishing culture with its fishermen and colorful boats, worthy of a photograph during a walk in the late afternoon with the unmistakable beauty of the sea in the background. It is an image that has always inspired, over time, countless plastic artists in the transformation of this scenario into beautiful watercolors. Starting point of the boat.
Simple beach of medium length, usually receives some visitors during high season, who find auqi a great option to relax due to the calm of the place. Beach predominated by fishing activity, its main visitors are fishermen, who live nearby. It is a good option for those who prefer less busy beaches to rest and replenish their energy. With a spacious strip of golden sand, it has a calm sea, which looks more like a natural pool, with transparent waters.
In the middle of a small archipelago, the Blue Lagoon enchants by the tone of the water. The natural pool resembles the colors of the Caribbean and turns the place into a favorite of visitors for snorkeling or simply enjoying a swim in the sea.
Simple and quiet beach, it is surrounded by large rocks and preserved native forest. It is small and cozy, great for those looking for a good place to rest. With a good strip of golden sand, it has calm and transparent waters.
In this natural aquarium, which is the Green Lagoon, we can find several types of marine species such as fish, mollusks, corals, rocks and stones and even sea turtles. With a little luck, you will see some of these wonders of the deep sea.
Stop for lunch at a typical restaurant in the region, the restaurant has the advantage of passing the menu inside the boat so that customers can choose the meal and it will be served as soon as it reaches the beach. We have the option of lunch at a self-service buffet, which consists of: fried fish, fried chicken, beans, rice, various salads, mush and pasta.

Out tour guy Pepe was amazing very pleasant!! Everything well organized and on time. Cree in the Tropical boat were amazing! You have plenty of time for fun, dance, pictures and excellent buffet
It is a lengthy day with a distance of riding in the bus. A comfortable ride, Very helpful staff! I didn't buy any of the extras. On the second stop they fed the fish. They were everywhere! Lunch was good. Met some new friends.
10/10 day, nothing could’ve made it better
We loved sailing around the islands and enjoying every stop along the way. The atmosphere was relaxed, the guide was helpful, and the agency ensured everything ran safely and smoothly. It was a very special day!
Everything was well organized. The scenery was beautiful, the guide was very friendly, and the tour exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended!
A wonderful tour with beautiful beaches and unforgettable scenery. The guide was very friendly and attentive, and the agency organized everything professionally. Highly recommended!
This was a great experience. Good vibes and good service. I got to rent a jet ski and ride it myself, which was the highlight of my day. The water was nice and the views were breathtaking. Just a few pro tips to make the experience more enjoyable : - bring something to entertain yourself in the bus on the way there. The activity is about 2.5 hours from Rio de Janeiro, 3 hours if there is traffic. - take with you a portable charger with your phone cable to charge the phone in the bus or during the activity on the boat. - you should expect to pay an additional 30R$ environmental fee. I don’t know if this applies to everyone or only non Brazilian visitors. Anyway this was an unexpected expense for us. - bring a sweater with you and some long pants. You might get cold at the end of the day, especially if you’re visiting during the winter.
I would not recommend booking this tour. 1. The travel time to the location is 2.5 hours one way, and this was not transparent at all. We only found out once we were already more than an hour away from Rio. We would not have booked this trip if we had known that. 2. The first 1.5 hours were spent on a bus driving around Rio picking up other passengers, followed by another 2.5 hours driving to the location. 3. During all this time, no food or drinks were provided. Since they were not transparent about the timing, they also did not tell us to pack breakfast, snacks, or enough water. 4. When we arrived at the boat, we waited another 40 to 60 minutes for other buses to load onto the ship. It ended up being extremely crowded, and some people had to stand because there were no seats left. 5. The snorkeling experience was horrible. They gave us snorkeling masks for an extra charge and did not provide anti-fog liquid. The snorkeling location had no reef, coral, or real underwater life to explore. They simply fed fish near the boat so the fish would come close. 6. Everything had an extra fee, starting with some kind of boarding fee, snorkeling mask rental, and they even tried to charge us extra for my kids’ safety vests. 7. I could go on and on, but the bottom line is this: do not book this tour.
Good morning! The tour was so great! Everything was so beautiful, priced well and we had an amazing time! We got to see so many different kinds of fish and meet so many people! The guides were amazing from the start and so helpful! They had fun themselves and were there for anything that anyone needed. They were like the life of the party and knew all of the guests. The lunch was delicious! We all went back for seconds and the deserts that were being sold were amazing too!
Let me start with pickup which was scheduled for 720am and finally the Bus showed at 750am, the tour guide was giving the excuse that the streets are narrow, I actually wanted to tell him this is not your first rodeo, but I kept as I had to spend the entire day. After pickup at 750 we were in the bus for other pickups until 955am. Then we started on the two hours drive to boat. When we arrived we had to walk through residential streets as the bus could not go inside (felt very weird). I wish they had made one stop on the way for 15mins so people could stretch. On the bus the tour guide came with up sells for the trip. Snorkeling gear and jet ski rides. I got the snorkeling package on the bus ride to boat, when we got onboard they were still trying to organize who purchased what. We reached the first island and the stop was 30minutes, I asked the tour guide where is the gear. He brought the gear after 10 to 12mins at the stop. I was furious because this could have been handled upon boarding not till we got to location. I was completely disappointed and thought would have been option to get a speedboat for 5hours with family instead of 14-15hours of suffering. They designed the lunch stop at 3rd so they can sell snacks and drinks until 3rd stop, the food quality was not great at lunch restaurant. Final twist was the tour guide asking us to pay additional Brazilian Reas 30 person in cash or 31.50 by card to enter the city of Rio. This was really seemed weird plus the boat location for drop off was in a dark area as if this was not a approved service. No lights at drop off. I hope anyone thinking of using them will stay away as there are some legit operators but this felt very shady.
The bad: HUGE tour group. Completely packed tour bus. Still plenty of room on the boat though. The buffet was odd and not the greatest. I found stuff to eat, but it was garlic noodles and fried chicken. Drinks were expensive on the boat. The good: My tour guide was the sweetest! Elanee (probably spelled wrong. Sorry) was very kind and communicated well. The boat was a lot of fun. They played great music. I had a ton of fun dancing and swimming. This tour has the timing down perfectly too. Just about the moment I thought, "okay, I'd like to move on" it was time to go! And there was as many fish as advertised at the blue lagoon! Would highly recommend, and I would love to go again! (I do wish the food was better though)
They need to say the truth about this trip. This is a literally a WHOLE day trip. They tell you be half an hour early but they can either come at the exact time or later from the location that they are picking you up. They dont tell you they are picking other’s customers and that might take multiple hrs, yes multiple. You technically are at your stop between 6:30 am / 7 am and get pick up during that time or by 8 am like we did, or even later, yes later. Some customers got picked up around 9 am, yes 9. The ride is about 3 hrs but it can be more if they are also picking more passengers on their away. You get to the first stop around 12pm, and you start heading back around 5/6 pm. The whole experience is nice however it takes a lot of time. You get back to rio around 9 pm or 10 pm depending on your stop. So please aware in case you want to schedule it.
Fun boat day that takes you to 2 snorkeling spots, the second stop you could see the fishes from the boat and then to 2 very pretty beaches. Be prepared to pay for drinks and snacks on the boat there is no free open bar and the included lunch not that great. Also prepare for 2 hour bus ride up and 2 hour bus ride back not too bad though the buses are clean and comfortable.
They picked us up, we’re so kind and accommodating, drinks on the boat and a lunch on the island, everything was perfect. Our tour guide Marcelo was amazing!!!!
Tldr: Okay tour, not exactly as described. Expected less party and more sealife. Overall the experience was good. However based on the pictures and locations in the itinerary we expected that we will sea lots of coral reefs and colorful fish. The boat ride was more of a “party boat” than an “explore nature” boat which was also unexpected based on the description. The locations did not have good visibility underwater even with the sunny weather we had, nothing like the pictures. We only saw the big school of fish where people take pictures next to the boat (and they only come around because the crew throws them food). Our tour did NOT take us to Lagõa Azul and Praia de Araçatibinha as it says in the itinerary but to other less impressive places with no wildlife or visibility. A bit disappointing. We accidentally stumbled on a sea turtle in a fenced off area at Plaia de Freguesia de Santana and we swam with it, which was the highlight of the trip even though it was accidental.
The tour exceeded our expectations! Stunning landscapes, beautiful islands, and stops that feel straight out of a movie. The boat was comfortable, the music created a great atmosphere, and the day flew by. It was an easy and stress-free way to explore Angra dos Reis, with great organization throughout. Totally worth it!
This tour was perfect for anyone looking to enjoy Angra dos Reis without stress. The stops were well planned, and there was plenty of time to swim and relax. The staff was polite and always willing to help, which made the experience even better.I finished the day feeling like it was time well spent. Highly recommended.
I honestly didn’t expect much at first, but the tour turned out to be a great surprise. The locations were beautiful, and the time at each stop was just right.Everything worked smoothly from start to finish, which made the day very easy and enjoyable. It was a really pleasant experience with great value for money. I would book it again for sure.
This tour stood out because of the guides and the overall organization of the agency. Everything was clearly explained, and the day ran very smoothly. The guides were attentive, approachable, and clearly experienced, which made us feel safe and well taken care of. It was a relaxed and enjoyable day, and the professionalism of the team made a big difference. I would gladly book with this agency again.
I had seen photos of Angra dos Reis before, but being there is something else. The water is very clear, the islands are beautiful, and the tour stops at amazing spots.I really liked how everything was handled, with no rush and clear explanations throughout the day.It was a relaxing and enjoyable experience, and I would definitely do it again.
It was a bit of a drive to the dock but it was worth it. The boat ride and experience on the islands were amazing. We loved swimming in the ocean and being on the islands. Elainne was very nice and helpful, as well as the whole staff. This was a full day, pickup at 730am and drop off at 1030pm.
They text me that they might not honor oick up location. Then failed to give location till I complained hours before the trip. Furthermore they sent a mass text to eat a big breakfast before the 6:30am pickup as lunch was at 4:30. There was no logic in this trip. I text to cancel it.
exceptional day, we visited small tropical islands.. At the end of the tour I regreted to come back to Rio as this places would be worth for to stay more longer :)
There is a very long bus ride to and from the boat, well over two hours each way. The snorkeling was pathetic. Only a few fish, no coral. The food on the second stop was poor quality and on the third and final stop there was only a beach and a church. Good fun on the boat ride on the way back as some people got drunk and starting dancing.
Avoid this company!!!!!!! The day had a literal storm and the government recommended to stay home so we announced that morning that we were not going to the trip and if we could re schedule. They said yes and no charge was going to be made to re schedule. The next day that I asked a reschedule they told me that they had a $20 fee per person. I agreed and asked for dates for the trip since we still had 10 more days in Rio. At that moment they stopped answering. We tried calling, and received zero response. I do not recommend this company.
Its a great tour, worth the price, our guide was great, knowledgeable. All the beaches were nice, I suggest bringing a sweater for the boat ride, it does get cold.
This experience is truly not to be missed, and I recommend setting aside a full day to enjoy it. It offers a wonderful combination of boat travel, opportunities for swimming, engaging excursions, dancing, and the chance to enjoy drinks with fellow travelers. I particularly enjoyed the location where we were able to capture photographs with the fish; it was quite amazing.
We had absolutely horrible experience on this tour. This was the worst tour we ever had anywhere in the world. You would spend over 10 hours traveling by bus and boat for 40 minutes of snorkeling and 30 minutes on a below average beach. Lunch was provided at 4 PM and was horrible. They didn't even provide water with the lunch. The tour is nothing like what is shown in the photos. Even though they advertise this as English, Spanish and Portuguese tour, most employees don't speak any English or broken English at most. How does any employee not understand the word "beach" when they are there everyday? Guide Lucas was highly inefficient who wasted a lot of time and created a lot of trouble for us. When they offered an optional photo package which included snorkeling photos, we asked that instead of that, we would want them to take the photos on the beach instead. Stop 1 is snorkeling , Stop 2 is beach and Stop 3 is another beach. They couldn't stop at Stop 2 due to technical reasons, and we were to take beach photos at Stop 3. Lucas simply asked us to follow the photograph Pablo, who instead of taking photos on the beach, asked us to continue to walk for over 25 minutes through the forest, put us in dangerous walking situation with flip flops with sharp downhill and then started taking pictures underwater. All this time, we were unable to communicate a single word with him and we had no idea what was going on. By they time we came back to the beach, it was already an hour and it was time to leave. He didn't take our beach photos. When I tried to raise an issue, another guide (I don't know the name but he said OK, OK after every sentence) and without knowing the context, or understanding any of my questions or concerns, just replied that they couldn't stop at the previous stop (which is not even my question). I all along requested beach pictures and they didn't take any. He quickly gave the verdict that no photos for us, even the ones they took earlier. I told him that this is supposed to be an English tour as well and they should understand basic English. He rudely replied that I am in his country and I should respect his language. When we all boarded the boat again, he tried to justify on the mike asking people how many speak English and to confirm whether any of them understand what he is saying, and why they could not stop at Stop #2, which was not a concern or question to begin with. The fact that they offered beach photos package and they didn't take any. That OK OK guy was not even involved in any of the photo package conversation and therefore the drama he put up on the boat was a moot point. In short, if you don't speak Portuguese, it would be an absolute disaster for you to take this tour. Even if you do speak, it is not worth your time as well.
A WHOLE day out so I'd say you definitely get your monies worth! But, pick up 7.40am from cococabana then it took (with a 25 minute stop) us 4 hours to get to the boat (on the coach) .. but a really full day including lots of stops so you get a lot of time on the actual boat. The stop for food - i wouldn't eat there. Just pay for another cafe instead. It was cold and probably the worst food I've had so far in brazil. The upstairs of the boat is open with no chairs so everyone lies or sits upstairs. The reps were lovely. Helpful, fun and really great! Boat trip ended around 7pm I think then it took us another 4 hours to get back to cococabana by coach. A good day but a long one with an 8 hour coach trip. Worth it? 100% yes but only if you dont mind a long time on the coach. There's also music on the boat and drinks are not extortionate .. around £3 for the cocktails.
Eric was a great host , very passionate about the forest and biology! We enjoyed the cool adventure, it was worth the money
I had a wonderful day out with Filep as our guide. He spoke multiple languages and his English was excellent. He even understood my very strong Kiwi accent! He was so thoughtful and kind. He realised I left my hotel at 5 am for the trip and brought me lunch ( and a cocktail!)straight away on the boat! He took excellent care of everyone on the trip. I met people from at least ten different countries and languages on that trip and we ranged in age from small kids to great grandparents and the whole thing was like a wonderful morning to night party! Filep was wonderful and so skilled at keeping everyone so happy! Highly recommend this trip because of him!
I was unwell so asked to reschedule the night before to any one of a number of new dates across the next week. The operator had been communicating with me until I asked this then ignored me and never responded. Took my money and no tour. Also, they told me lunch would be at 4:30pm.
Amazing. The bus picks you up right at your hotel. The guide goes over the agenda in Portuguese, Spanish, and English, so everyone’s on the same page. I had Tiago who was the best of the best. About halfway there, you stop for a quick coffee or snack break. Then you arrive at the boat dock. The boat itself kind of looks like a pirate ship. The atmosphere is super lively, and the views are absolutely amazing. At the first stop, you can jump off the boat into crystal clear blue water and swim around. After that, there are a few more stops. At one point, they even had a dance competition on the boat which was awesome. The last stop includes a free buffet, which was actually really nice. Overall, I would HIGHLY recommend this experience!
This budget-friendly tour is a solid deal if you’re looking for a cheap escape, with lunch included and the opportunity to experience both a bus ride and a boat trip. However, most of the day was spent traveling—first on the bus picking up passengers of 45 and then getting on and off the boat with about 150 other people. The boat ride itself was pleasant, but a bit cramped and chaotic due to the large group. The beach time and swimming were nice, but limited to only about 30-45 minutes, leaving you with little time to fully enjoy the water or relax. If you don’t mind spending a lot of time on the bus and boat, this is a great option. But if you’re looking to spend most of your day actually enjoying the destination, this might not be for you.
Nice boat trip to three different locations. This trip is about making nice photos in a relatively short time. Organization with pickup and delivery worked without complications.
Such a great experience. A must do when you come to Rio. Make sure to bring a bag/backpack with a sweater because the water is very cold so when u get back the boat you're gonna have to warm
The trip is just as described in the description and reviews, but mostly the ones that weren't very positive. It definitely is a long ride to the place where the boat leaves and a long ride back, so be prepared for that (around 1 hour 45 minutes). We were lucky and were the last ones picked up, only to get on a bus of people who were dead sleep. Seats were hard to find. The whole trip is accurately timed for 14 hours especially if you're coming from Ipanema or Copacabana. The boat ride is more like a party boat, which is fine if you're into that. Loud music, dancing, and a bar. The toilets were pretty terrible, so don't drink too much. There also were way more people than the limit in the description. I think extra people got on who weren't on our bus. We opted to get photos taken by the professional but if I were to do it again, I wouldn't. We spent more time waiting for our turn in cold water than we did enjoying snorkeling in the water or laying on the beach. The beaches that we stopped at were all pretty small, and we were one of three or four other boats. The weather was beautiful but it was hard to enjoy it properly because of the crowds. The descriptions of them missed these details. For some reason, lunch is really late in the afternoon. This was no surprise but does not make sense since the trip starts so early. The food was okay - buffet style. Drinks are not included, however. An annoying part was that whenever we tried to get off the boat, the sailors would blatantly turn their backs on us in favor of helping people they were clearly attracted to. They would only turn around when the kind young women would point out that a bunch of us were waiting. Overall, it was good to get out of the city to do something different but I'm not convinced this one was entirely worth it.
This was such an awesome excursion. Every member of the staff was so kind and welcoming. Drinks were great, music was awesome, and we felt safe the entire ride. Thank you for such a wonderful time!
The tour itself was okay for the money spent. The lunch was horrible, no selection and it tasted old. I suggest you bring your own snacks or lunch or you will be greatly dissatisfied. The guide Felipe needs to learn some manners and treat people with respect. When I boarded the bus I saw an empty seat on the first or front row in the bus. I decided to find one row with two empty seats. A minute later a mother and a daughter got in and could not find a row with 2 empty seats do I decided to let them take the seat I was sitting so they can seat together. I moved to the front empty seat. Next to it there was a backpack, I assumed that seat was occupied. Then the guide Felipe came in and rudely told that the seat was his. I didn’t know he could take two seats. Then, he ordered me to move to a different seat. What ever happened to say please when asking for something before? I could have stayed there and argue but I specify confront him at the end of the tour. Other than this unfortunate moment, the tour was just okay. Please someone retrain this Felipe guy. Thanks
The tour was to crowded, music too loud, too much driving by the bus to pick up all passangers, lunch was mediocre. The beaches and islands are spectacular.
There are Environmental Taxes to be paid, that is not communicated anywhere in the booking details on the TRIPADVISOR page, not as an exclusion or a special note. I only learned of it the evening before when the tour operator contacted me. In trying to get an understanding of this, I was not pointed to where I missed the information in the booking details. The exchange with the check-in operator from RIO PASSEIOS EXPERIENCE ended with a dismissive tone as I was directed to the boarding documents sent that evening. I contacted Tripadvosor/Viator and requested a cancellation for the tour.
The whole boat crew made sure that our experience was fun. They were all nice. We were a little surprised at the length of the bus ride going there. I don't think that was explicit in the description.
Dreadful trip and not as advertised. After multiple hotel pick ups it was then a 2 hour coach drive to the islands. The toilet on board the coach was disgusting - dirty, no toilet paper and it stank! On arrival at the islands we boarded the schooner which was chaos as there were 3 coach loads of passengers boarding the same boat. It was very overcrowded and there was insufficient seating for everyone. As soon as we cast off, loud music started blaring and continued throughout the trip. It was utterly hideous. The first stop was for snorkeling. People were encouraged to jump from the boat or there were ladders down to the water. There were very few fish to be seen and nothing else - very disappointing. The next stop was a small gritty, dirty beach which we didn't get off at. The next stop was for lunch. A pleasant beach but overcrowded with tour boats and people. The buffet lunch was foul. There were flies everywhere including all over the food. The toilets were disgusting, particularly the men's as there was excrement all over the wall and urinals. Our final stop was another small beach where there was no sun. The journey back to the harbour was long and noisy. The toilets on the boat were disgusting. When we almost reached the harbour we stopped and were told we had to finish the trip on small craft which we were crammed onto (not enough seats for everyone). The coach journey back to Rio was ok until the driver pulled over, stopped the coach and got out for a smoke along with the tour guide! This was after we'd already stopped at a service station. The whole trip from pick up to drop off was about 14 hours of he'll, most of which was travelling. If you want a peaceful, relaxing day of sailing, pristine beaches, delicious food, wildlife and clean toilets then do NOT book this trip!
Too long a drive, don’t need to stop a convenience store. Food was awful, not covered up & there were an horrendous amount of flies landing on food. Coach driver using phone whilst driving
Unfortunately, I wouldn’t recommend booking with this agent. I was extremely poorly on the day of travel and therefore I did not attend. I tried to cancel a day before however i was told I would pay $100 to reschedule. Explained it was my last day before leaving the island. I had no response after. On receiving the itinerary the night before i realise it didn’t mention going to Ilha Grande as advertised. When I asked for clarity on this i got no response. This was my main reason for booking this trip with Viator, as my hotel had the same trip advertised but without the Ilha grande (and cheaper). I’d say book with another booking agent.
Very fun experience! An enchanting version of Rio with vibrant scenery. Crystal clear waters for spotting exotic fish and wildlife!
Everything went smoothly from the pick up until the end of the tour. Although it was very crowded, organization was made very well.
This was amazing from start to finish. They get everyone together and send you to your bus to get to the dock. You have one stop halfway through that’s very beautiful and if you’re hungry or need snacks get them here. The first stop was my favorite. I chose to purchase the snorkels. You see all kinds of fish and you can get photos. The whole trip was a vibe. Theirs dancing and great views along the way. The food was good and you go to some beaches that’s are educational.
It was a great experience, and I enjoyed my time. The best part was swimming from the boat to the beach, and dancing was also fantastic.
