Was able to see historic sites not included on my two weeks tour of Brazil. Wonderful to have a private tour.

From the Cinelandia Square you can see the most important historical and political buildings in Downtown Rio: the Municipal Theater, the National Library, the National Museum of Fine Arts and the Municipal Chamber of Rio.
Inaugurated in 1909, the Theatro Municipal is one of the most importante theaters of Brazil and Latin America. The Theatro Municipal has drawn international artists and important names from Brazilian culture, including dancers, musicians, opera singers, and performing artists. Since the 1930s, the Theatro Municipal of Rio de Janeiro has maintained its artistic independence, and is the only Brazilian institution to have its own choir, a symphony orchestra, and ballet company.
The biggest library in Latin America was founded in 1810 by D. João VI, the King of Portugal. It is an imponent building with an archive of almost 9 millions items in downtown Rio that holds rare books, manuscripts, original letters written by Princess Isabel, the first newspapers printed in the country, and two copies of the precious Mainz Psalter Bible, printed in 1492.
Designed in 1908 by architect Adolfo Morales de los Rios to host the National School of Fine Arts, heir to the Imperial Academy of Fine Arts, this building was built during the urban modernization carried out by mayor Pereira Passos in the then Federal Capital.
The square is located in the historical centre of Rio de Janeiro and is surrounded by the Palácio Tiradentes, the Legislative Assembly of Rio de Janeiro; and the Paço Imperial. The Praça XV Station is a ferry terminal servicing a number of destinations in the city of Rio de Janeiro and Niteroi
Located in what was once the downtown market of the city, it has small streets and alleys full of bars and small restaurants.
Important cultural center that was once a bank.
Important church in the center of the busiest avenue of the city.
The statues, the walls, the golden leaves and even the floor were designed to be admired by everyone.

From start to finish the tour was excellent. Marcos our tour guide was incredible. Knowledgeable of the history in Rio De Janerio. Did an outstanding job showing us all the key sights. Very friendly, knows his job well and how to entertain his clients. I would highly recommend him if you go to Brazil.
This is history to be known , the churches are breathtaking , Ricardo was our tour guide he has great energy and tempo , He take nice pictures and videos to make it memorable forever , His English is good and clear , the Highlight was everything to Santa Theresa, I’m. I love with Rio it is pre essential for people who adores travel and experience new chapters
A good tour - we felt we got to see ‘real Rio’ and not just the beach culture (which is phenomenal as well). Visiting the restaurant that had been in that spot for a long and having lunch there was great. The tour is worth doing
Amazing tour and Monica was very knowledgeable about every stop and giving us history of city. If you’re looking for something that does not involve main attractions, I highly recommend this tour.
Lovely tour-Santa Teresa would have been missed if we hadn’t done this tour. The Colombo coffee shop was amazing
Very nice tour and we visit interesting places. Everything was on time. I recommend this tour.
Great little tour if you want to see some hidden gems of Rio. The guide certainly knew her way around. Well worth doing
Great tour of different parts of the city, including Christ the Redeemer, downtown, Selarom Steps, to Sugarloaf Mountain.
Millene was a fantastic guide. She tailored the trip to suit our family of four, ( including allowances for one with limited mobility) She showed us the highlights of old Rio, from the churches to the theatres - ending up with at a traditional coffee shop for pastries and drinks (coffee, tea and Guarana ) and was very engaging and a most knowledgeable guide.
Meilin was excellent she knew so much history I learned a lot about Rio and its history and saw some amazing sights downtown. Highly recommend if you like history and old buildings!
Enjoyable experience, but quite a mix. Our guide Marcos was a lovely person. He was extremely flexible. We visited on a Sunday when most buildings and attractions were closed, but Marcos drove us to Santa Teresa and Seleron steps, which were not initially programmed in the tour. A helpful suggestion would be for Viator to inform visitors that buildings and attractions are closed on Sundays, and to make alternative arrangements for the city tour, rather than leaving it to the last-minute initiative of the guide. Our guide would have preferred to leave us in Santa Teresa, to allow him to finish his tour early, but all three tourists asked to be dropped off at their hotels, as per tour description. Marcos remained courteous and polite, but was frustrated due to personal time commitments. Marcos drove like a lunatic to drop us off at our hotels, with violent braking and much beeping of horn. All in all, we visited the parts of Rio that we wanted to see and were grateful for Marcos' flexibility. A learning point would be for the tour to be better organised and less chaotic.
The driver was 45 minutes late and did not speak English, which was selected when I Booked the tour. We ended up getting out of his vehicle and taking a taxi to some of the sites that we wished to visit. Because of the delay, some of the other sites we wish to visit were closed. Refunded the cost of the tour once we complained
Very enriching tour with Alex. Coordinated trip well from pick up to drop off. Very knowledgeable and offered tips along the way. He needs a raise👍🏼⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Going to the churches and selaron steps Joana the tour guide was very good tour guide . Show us the old Rio
None of the downtown buildings are open on Saturday and Sunday. I paid to visit these buildings and paid some entrance fees. The tour should not be conducted on weekends. No prior information about the closures was advised until the guide turned up and explained the situation, as we waited for the driver who was late. He had no knowledge of the city and the your guide had to direct his every move. More than half the tour was taken up with looking in shops at Santa Theresa, which wasn’t on the tour programme.
This tour was excellent, it helped us to get to know Rio better, more in depth. Our guide was very nice.
Monica is an amazing guide. She is very knowledgeable about the history of Brazil and the city of Rio. The tour really gave me a glimpse of several 100 years of history in just 4 hours. From the oldest churches and buildings to street art and Olympic venues, we have explored a lot and visited many interesting places. Monica made the tour fun and she was very engaging. We also visited the Colombo bakery and had time for some traditional cake. I highly recommend the tour!
The tour was amazing! We first took a look at Santa Teresa, which is a charming part of Rio with lots of nice corners to discover, then went to some historical sites and heard about the history of the city. It was absolutely worth it to see these parts of Rio!
It was a great way to see various parts of Rio that are hard to see and get to. We saw hidden residential neighborhoods and old historic downtown. We also saw scenic views and had lots of photo ops. It was both driving around and walking so it wasn’t exhausting. We were a group of four (5 with guide) so we got around by car stopping at 10 to 12 different places. We went to places that larger groups can’t go to easily since larger vans or busses don’t fit. Guide was kind, thoughtful, informative, flexible, and spoke excellent English. I have been to Rio many times before and most of what I saw was new to me. It was very safe way to share Rio with my family.
Our tour guy Dario was excellent. Very knowledgeable, experienced, polite and attentive. Our tour was so wonderful ! Lovely afternoon in Rio. Highly recommended
A really excellent tour. Our guide, Monica B, was great. Superb English, really interesting and v good at pacing and slanting the tour in tune with our interests. We have been travelling to some amazing places in the last 3 weeks, and reckon this guide and tour to be particularly special .
we had an excellent guide. He included a ride on the tram that weaves through Santa Teresa and that was a nice cool (i.e. breezy) ride that gave us a good feel for the neighbourhood. You'll have to talk your guide into it, it's not part of the old city tour, but for me it was the best part.
Rio with Monica is a must! We learned so much. It was interesting with a lot of variety to keep everyone engaged. Her passion for Rio is contagious!
It was a very interesting tour. Our guide Felipe is very knowledgeable about the history of Rio, its history, and he narrates with such passion that he makes it much more interesting for the visitor. It is highly recommended.
Remarkable how the tour is scheduled in relation to the places visited and the time. Excellent Meilin!
Fantastic and truly interesting experience in Rio with Monica to visit the Rio city center and Santa Teresa. I recommend that anyone going to Rio do it to get an even more in-depth idea of the city beyond the usual well-known places.
Great experience with Monica. Careful, precise and helpful. He told me many interesting things about Rio and drove with professionalism. Recommended!
Monica is a Brazilian of Italian origins very well prepared, she fully satisfied all our curiosity. She was very good at identifying our interests by making us discover the neighborhood of Santa Teresa rich in street art and very beautiful murals. We only had half a day and Monica was very helpful in showing us the main things in Rio. Thank you.
