The Cais de Santa Luzia is a complex located in the center of Angra dos Reis, considered the most traditional starting point for visitors to the islands and schooner tours.
Simple and quiet beach, it is surrounded by large rocks and preserved native forest. It's small and cozy, great for those looking for a good place to rest. With a good strip of golden sand, it has calm and transparent waters. As it is a small beach, tourists who pass by boat hardly notice the place. It is a great option to relax and take a delicious bath in the sea.
Parish of Santana is a peninsula located in Ilha Grande, coast of Rio de Janeiro, composed of 4 beaches: Freguesia, Baleia, Grumixama and Freguesia do Sul and it was there that the settlement of Ilha Grande itself began. The beach was quite inhabited in the past, but little nowadays (it is estimated that there are only 50 residents in the place, today a tourist spot), but we find remnants of the occupation in the place, such as the Church of Santana, built in 1843, considered the most important monument Ilha Grande, as well as an abandoned cemetery and several mansions, slave quarters and underground water channels. Freguesia de Santana is a private property, that is, its visitation is restricted to the sands of the beach, the area close to the churches and the trails in the region. Source: Ilha Grande
Japariz beach is a mandatory stop for participants on schooner and speedboat trips that last 1 hour. It is inhabited by a small community of fishermen and traders who maintain intense communication with the mainland, both to Angra dos Reis and to Conceição de Jacareí.
Lagoa Verde is a corner of shallow, calm, typically green waters and is one of the highlights of the northwest coast of Ilha Grande, very close to the Enseada de Araçatiba. Lagoa Verde is also a tourist nickname, like Lagoa Azul, the geographical name is Ilha da Longa. With the tide at normal or high level, the islet is separated from Ilha Grande, and when the tide is very low, they are joined by a narrow strip of sand and rocks. It is one of the few places on the planet where greenish corals are found, hence the name. The marine fauna surprises us from out of the water, in a spectacle due to the shallow depth of its transparent and calm waters.
Lagoa Azul is a natural pool with a sandy bottom, some rocks and predominantly blue water, located between two islets in the important historic region of Freguesia de Santana. The site is a geographic aggregate of Ilha dos Macacos, whose northern end is the point on Ilha Grande that is closest to the mainland. The region is beautiful with places worthy of being called paradise. It is very close to other sensational beaches, Grumixama, Baleia, Freguesia Sul and Norte. Lagoa Azul, a tourist nickname inspired by the classic movie from the 80s with actress Brooke Shieldes, is one of the most popular tourist spots on Ilha Grande.

It was a rainy day on the water which was unfortunate but obviously not the tour guides’ fault. However the big gaps in communication were. The tour was listed as suitable for speakers of English, Spanish, and Portuguese and online said the guides were trilingual. In reality only one of the boat’s staff, one of the many guides, spoke English. That was fine, however she did not even attempt to translate over 70% of the words spoken over the microphone in English, leaving my and my boyfriend extremely lost most a lot of the trip and feeling left out of the fun. Important info like the bus number to board and which restaurant to enter for lunch were not announced in English, leaving us scrambling to figure out where to go. The final stop for swimming was skipped to due rainy weather and this was also not announced in English, leaving us surprised when we returned to land early. It was very frustrating since our guide spoke great English, but just didn’t translate out of laziness? I wouldn’t recommend this tour if you don’t speak Spanish or Portuguese
The dancer entertainment, underwater photos, jet skis, the crew , the food and most importantly was Nayt our tour guide. Great excursion to go on. We had a blast on the water !!
Paradise islands, calm sea and an incredible atmosphere. The crew was friendly and the lunch stop was perfect, I recommend visiting.
It was exactly as advertised. We found the day very long due to the almost 6 hours of bus travel time. The guide was great, lots of energy.
not worth waste of time money energy nothing good total waste in my opinion and view i don’t know what think
The water was a beautiful color and quite warm. The blue lagoon had a lot of fish swimming right around you. You were able to rent a snorkel and mask. A photographer could take your picture in the water with the fish. Although we chose an English tour we were the only English people. The guide tried to explain somethings for us but usually spoke in Portuguese.
The tour was well organized. The trip to the island is pleasant, and the island itself really beautiful. Recommended!!
Trip was a bit disappointing. Barely any guiding in English. Crowded boat. Mediocre food. 1 hour stop at a gas station to have “lunch” or a snack with only horrible food options
Good for the day trip from RIO. It requires preparing for swimming but I can't much. I want to visit again to enjoy swimming in Ilha Grande!
This was a highlight of our trip! Flavia our guide, brings joy with her smiles and speaking in 3 languages to ensure all are well aware of what’s coming up. It’s a long day, but well spaced out with safety in mind and multiple sites to see. I highly recommend if you haven’t done this already and cast away on the azul sea and beautiful beaches.
Renata was a great tour guide. The experience was great. The water was crystal clear, and the island was beautiful. I especially loved the Blue Lagoon stop.
Views are breathtaking. Like the guided tour. Keep in mind group is big to manage and for pickup and drop off bus stops at various locations.
Landscapes were beautiful and the boat was a lot of fun (we had a slide off the back of it!). Our guide Ana was very welcoming and she helped us with language translation. The only hiccup was at dinner — the kitchen couldn’t keep up with the volume of guests. While I was able to get plenty to eat, some folks towards the end of the line did not. That said, there were plenty of opportunities to purchase beverages and snacks throughout the day on the boat and at rest stops.
Trip was great , well organized and very coperate staff. Enjoy water rides , boat ride, driving into sea was awesome
It was nice trip. Really enjoyed alot . Thanks team for such a good and awesome trip. I will suggest my friend to visit it once.
Long journey but a comfortable bus and friendly tour guide. great boat drive, value for money.total tour was fun filled and enjoyment.
Awful. From looking at the reviews on here, I imagine the company will reply with something that makes it seem like everything wasn't their fault, but throughout the trip we were deliberately lied to. Even though hotel pick up was organised and paid for, they messaged us very last minute to tell us that actually we would need to get a taxi into the city. After rushing there, they were another hour late. We were then told the bus journey would take 2 hours (like it says in the description), but in reality it took over 5 hours. The boat trip itself was over packed with people, and dropped us off in areas full of litter, and dangerous currents. 'Lunch' was provided at 6 pm, not at a normal lunch time. Our tour guide only spoke to us in order to try and get more money from us. The journey back took another 5 hours, and ended with the coach refusing to drop us back at our hotel, and instead threw us out in the middle of the city at around 1 am the next day. This is not a safe situation for tourists to be in.
I love the country and trip was very beautiful overall. Good service and views were so very beautiful:
Great customer service and communication. Brazil is so beautiful. I love the country. The view was spectacular.
It was a wonderful day, our guide is a super nice person! Highly recommend! Tour Top. I hope I can come back and do this tour again.
The tour is not designed for foreigners. It is not a touristic tour, it’s more like a party boat. We had huge traffic problems (of course not the tour operator’s fault) and the guide didn’t explain what was happening to anyone. When he described the tour, he never translated anything even though we booked a tour with an English speaker guide. It seems he did very little to make the passengers feel secure and comfortable. The four hours boat ride had very loud music. It looked like you were in a club more than a tour. The boat operator seem more worried about the amount of drinks to sell than the safety of the passengers. We left very late because the operator wanted to pack as many passengers as possible. We had more people than seats. Because of the late departure we continued the tour until it was dark. Nobody care that we couldn’t see anything, we just had to finish the 4 hours ride so we ended up in the ocean when it was totally dark. Pretty scary for lots of passengers who grabbed the emergency life vests when the sea was turning a little bit rough in the dark. I am a good swimmer and I was getting anxious. The whole activity was not enjoyable from a tourist point of view. If you like to drink and party maybe that’s for you but please don’t sell this tour like a tourist attraction.
We spent 2 hours and 20 minutes on a bus picking up people in Rio. After a short time, the air-conditioning failed and we were stuck on an overheated coach in 34 degrees heat. We were informed that "lunch" would not be until 4pm - we eventually ended up getting "lunch" of awful quality at 5pm. At a 15min stop we were told, it is best to buy some food, but the restaurant there was so crowded, it was impossible to buy anything in the time we were given. The advertised stops of 60minutes are actually 2x30 min and 2x50 min in totally crowded places. There is zero visibility in the water. Do not be fooled by the pictures here, they are taken by a professional photographer using fish food to attract fish. The boat itself is crowded, blasting loud music, you cannot buy food, just drinks and the toilet was overflowing after the second stop already. If I could have, I would have given this a zero rating. Instead of 12 hours, this terrible experience took 15.5 hours.
The places the tour visits are absolutely gorgeous, but the tour experience is completely different than advertised. Advertised: “maximum of 45 travelers” Reality: 120+ on a super-crowded boat (some had to stand the whole time) Advertised: English-speaking tour guide Reality: Very broken English as an afterthought - for example, 20+ minutes talking to the Span./Port. crowd versus 5 minutes with the English-speaking guests Advertised: Described as a serene, beautiful experience Reality: Cattle-car booze cruise, pure and simple - island stops were shorter than advertised (felt like they just tried to get us back on the boat) Additional note - the “included” lunch is awful. Bottom line, the area is gorgeous, but unless you want a booze cruise, you may want to consider a private tour.
Beautiful beaches, which you only see on postcards. all this in ilha grande! lunch is on an island. open buffet, very good. congratulations to the guide Giovanna. music on the funny boat. top!
Everything went well, clean bus and polite driver, super lively boat with competent professionals and Guia Marcio a love in person, professional and helpful
Best tour I've taken in my life. Super lively boat and the best caipirinhas in the world. I will do it again when I get back!!
Great tour! I and my son had a lot of fun. Beautiful place! We will certainly do other tours with the Agency again.
All beautiful. The tour was perfectly organized. The journey to the destination is undoubtedly long, but it is really worth it! great service and very kind staff on the ship. recommended
Wonderful beaches! the blue lagoon is something incredible! The pick up was at the agreed time. in copacabana. the bus ok. lunch ok. the spectacular boat tour!
What a perfect combination! Knowing Angra dos Reis and still visiting Ilha Grande in one day was an excellent choice. The landscape changes all the time, each island has a charm, and the sea is always calm and inviting. The tour was well thought out, without rush and with time to appreciate every place. We are back with renewed energy and a heart full of joy!
The paradise islands are beautiful, especially Cataguas and Isla dentist, its waters are warm and fascinating colors, do not miss the tour of paradise islands. On dentist island you can see the fish without snorkeling equipment, if you have it much better!
Very good tour, friendly and attentive staff at all times, the boat too cheerful and you can appreciate spectacular scenery! We had an amazing time and met beautiful beaches. Definitely an activity not to miss if you visit Rio de Janeiro.
It is a very beautiful city, we stopped in San Conrado but we walked all its beaches, the neighborhood where we were very quiet, we were also able to go to Christ, to the sugar loaf, which if you go on a clear day they have incredible views. If you go, don't miss the aquarium, its best attraction, a tunnel that passes through a giant fish tank where you can see the fish around you. Public transportation is very good, both buses and the subway.
Very good tour. Pros: excellent organization and very good communication before and during the trip. Cons: some “expected” waits considering that you are traveling with many people. Lunch is ok but could be better. Everything was also very delicious. I recommend doing this tour!
The tour is really good!!! It was me, my husband and our one and a half year old son, and he had a great time. The landscapes are really very beautiful! The tour starts early and goes until the end of the afternoon, making the most of the day.
The experience is very nice, the transportation and service very comfortable. The guide Rafael very friendly. The extraordinary landscape. It is a two-hour trip but they explain everything clearly to you as to what the schedules will be like.
It is a walk through 3 islands where only on 1 of them you can sit on the beach and on the other two you jump from the boat. The stay in each of them is approximately 20 minutes so you are basically transported on the boat the entire time. As an experience it is entertaining but I would spend at least 1 hour on each beach so as not to have the feeling of running around. In the end, lunch was good, everything was delicious, but I would tell the bus driver to be more careful with the air conditioning since when several of the group came back wet, we caught a cold, or suggest bringing spare clothes.
Family trip was wonderful with incredible landscapes on Ilha Grande, we recommend this type of experience to everyone.
The island is wonderful and makes you want to stay longer, safe, welcoming and the villain Abraão is charming. I recommend the @marsnavegacoes guide to everyone, Alex is outstanding, he made great stops, including the one most on the itinerary, he made me fall in love with the island.
Beautiful excursion we took. They fulfilled everything that the package they sold us offered. The coordinator is very attentive.
Amazing place. Even though it was far from the place we were staying, it was worth spending the day. The vessel with its music and caipirinhas livened up the tour even more.
The welcome was very good, a guide who explained to us in several languages and also gave us a brief introduction of the city as the destination.
Wonderful tour! Beautiful landscapes! The Blue Lagoon is spectacular. It's a trip that's well worth taking.
Very organized, with beautiful tours and guidance on activities, as well as easy communications.
We had a cloudy day and with a little rain but we still enjoyed a lot. The scenery is wonderful, the water cool but bearable. The Hernan guide very nice, as did the entire crew of the boat. Simple but very tasty buffet food. If I had to put something negative serious the prices of caipirinha in the boat are quite high compared to the rest of rio and in the buffet did not include dessert.
Punctuality, reliability, comfort in both land and sea transport and excellence in the service of the guide and his support , super recommend
I just have to thank you was wonderful surreal the experience 😍 😍 It was a quiet and beautiful walk 😍 Safety and comfort with my family was top ❤️ The guide Tiago was very attentive and helpful super professional 😉😍 Boat Ride and the professionals Top ❤️ I loved to know Angra
