Itinerary
We visit to Corcovado Mountain and the Christ the Redeemer statue going through the Paineiras route. The 20-minute drive to the base of the statue takes you through the Tijuca Forest and gives you a preview of the landscapes ahead. The statue stands 710 meters tall and from this vantage point, you’ll have sweeping views of the city.
The largest urban forest in the planet. We will take you on a panoramic view. By minivan, we go through the Tijuca Forest and stop at the Visitor's Center inside the Paineiras. This is the place where we take the minivan from the Corcovado to get to the Christ, the Redeemer.
Located in Santa Teresa, the Selarón Steps are famous for its bright and colourfull tiles.
The modern archtecture is very different from the traditional cathedrals we see out there. Enjoy the beautiful stained glasses and try to guess the biblical passages they got their inspiration from.
The Sambodromo is the Carnival Temple and the place we compete every year in the biggest celebration of carnival in the planet.
Football - or soccer, if you prefer - is part of the Brazilian life. We love to watch the games and share experiences with complete strangers that get together for one purpose: support their team on the field. The Maracanã Stadium is considered our temple and a sacred place for those who enjoy a great game. We can take pictures outside of the Stadium and share stories about our favorite matches.

It was too long and time was wasted on lunch because our appointment to see Christ the Redeemer was at 4. The major attractions should be visited early and the neighborhoods visited last. Our day began sunny, but by the time we made it to Christ the Redeemer it was blocked by fog. Also, the guide made me pay for lunch.
The tour guide Julia made the entire experience better than anticipated. She provided information beyond what we were seeing at the sites and provided insight into the culture .
Mónica was great. We were coached on where to get the best photos and how to invest our time in Rio. Highly recommend. It’s a great half day trip
Essentially the ‘tour’ was an 18 person communal taxi ride around the city where we were dropped at landmarks and then left to walk around by ourselves and work it out. Also was a half day tour where it was raining early in the morning and then fine after 10am. But instead of going into the buildings first and then going to the mountain, it was still decided to go see Christ redeemer in the rain and mist so no one really got to see or do anything. We then went to the Cathedral mid church service so again couldn’t really do much so we decided to get an uber back at that point as it was all a bit pointless. Also, we spent an hour driving around Rio picking everyone up from various hotels - maybe in future it may be easier to just have a central meeting point to save all the guests time on their trips instead of driving around the city in circles collecting people from hotels.
The transportation service showed up over 20 minutes late and then made us walk to a random pickup location instead of picking us up directly at our hotel like promised. The communication was poor the entire time and nobody seemed organized or concerned about wasting customers’ time. To make matters worse, we were over an hour past the scheduled tour start time and still had not made it to a single landmark or attraction. Instead, the driver spent a huge amount of time driving all over the roughest parts of Rio making multiple unnecessary stops for other passengers. The entire experience felt unprofessional, disorganized, and uncomfortable. If you are expecting reliable transportation, punctuality, or decent customer service, look elsewhere. There are far better and more dependable companies in Rio.
We had the tour of Rio and Corcovado Mountain with the most amazing Monica who just impressed us with the different languages she could speak. Amazing personality!!
Guide Monica was excellent very informative and attentive. Couldn’t ask for better. Only downside was the weather - intermittent rain and low cloud at the Redeemer
The tour was great! Marlady was great! She was very accommodating to my mother and she also took our pictures.
Our guide was excellent, I'd give the guide 5 stars. What seems to happen in Rio is the tours are all the same irrespective of what you booked. I'd purposely booked a tour without the Sugar Loaf because we don't like cable cars. This tour still included this option. I booked another Viator tour the day after, and it turned out to be the same one as I did on the first day. This is because they try to fill the buses, so you may end up on a different tour to the one you booked. I'd actually give this tour 5 stars, but I downgraded it to four stars because you may not get the tour you booked.
It was really a hard hitting who’s who of Rio- we saw I think all the major attractions in an absolute whirlwind! The timing was very good for the most part. Maybe a few more minutes could have been spent here or there, but you’ll see everything, rain or shine!
I loved this tour! Our tour guide, Renato, was funny, informative, and kind. You get to see the most iconic parts of Rio. The tour is quick-paced. Some people might like this or not, for me it was perfect because the information regarding the landmarks was shared during our commute and once we arrived, we got to enjoyed the place with pictures. I recommend this tour if you have a short stay in Rio!
Loved the experience. Super informative and tons of fun! Thumbs up to both the driver and the guide… a must do in Rio. Unforgettable….
The tour guide was excellent very informative and the tour bus driver Eduardo and exceptional driver through the crazy crazy streets well worth the investment and time no you're not going to go straight to the front of the line but anybody who thinks that should stay at home
It was an amazing experience, we really appreciate and recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see all major attractions of Rio in a half day tour without rushing.
Fantastic, great value tour. Arrangements were easy to follow and everything went like clockwork. Monica was brilliant and informative and the drivers ability to navigate the crazy traffic was impressive. Highly recommended.
It was a great trip. Well organised. I recommend this company. I didn't see Jesus Christ the Redeemer as it was really foggy but that was the weather not the tour!
Our Host was super friendly and humorous , and took the best photographs!! We enjoyed it very much..
Guide was supposed to talk in English but probably said 2 sentences the whole tour in English and just spoke Spanish !
Monica was an amazing guide. She is a very knowledgeable and friendly tour guide. Monica kept an open line of communication about what time the tour was set for pickup, what was to be expected and also drop off time
My family and I had a great time! Monica was very knowledgeable and spoke 3 languages. She was very nice holding our gift bags and taking pictures of us. I would definitely recommend her tour!
Monica was excellent! She was very nice and knowledgeable. Very good managing our time and explaining all the areas we were passing through. She also was very kind, offering to take our pictures, giving us tips about the areas we were at and even holding our souvenir bags so we could enjoy our time. My family and I enjoyed this excursion very much! I definitely recommend it!
We took the half-day tour except which visited all important Sight-seeings. We can only recommend the Tour and would clearly do it again.
The tour is essentially paid transportation to Christ the Redeemer and the Selaron steps. We drove around Maracana stadium, which is an old, dirty concrete stadium. We didn't stop for photos. We stopped for 10 minutes at the Cathedral and the guide said we had 10 minutes to use the bathroom. I think everyone thought the 10 minutes was for the bathroom and we would later go into the Cathedral, because no one visited the Cathedral and guide never said anything. We left in van after the 10 minutes. The Sambodrome is basically a street with permanent viewing stands on both sides. Without Carnival activities, it is not really worth seeing. Finally, the English proficiency and clarity of guide was mediocre at best.
Had a great time my most memorable moment was at the Jesus Christ, the redeemer statue, The views from up there of the city Wasn’t anything less than astonishing.
Our guide contacted me the night before to confirm the meeting place & time. Monica showed up on time, was informative and kept everyone on schedule. She speakers multiple languages which was helpful to the international mix of tourist she had.
We picked a short 1/2 day tour due to our limited time in Rio. Unfortunately, everyone else on this tour booked the full day tour. The tour was to start at 8am and we expected to be back prior to noon. The tour started late, 2 of the stops turned into drive by's and we still weren't back until close to 2PM. The tour itself was pretty good but if you are pressed for time, like we were, I would suggest choosing something else.
Wonderful tour and visiting the most important places in Rio. Our excellent tour guide Monika showed us the Christ the redeemer, stadium Maracana, Selarom steps, Sambadrom and many other locations. She had perfect knowledge of the history of Rio in general and the visited places in general. During the tour she was very informative and took great care for everyone in the group.
The tour was inexpensive and very much worth it. Lasted much longer than I thought which was great and gave me a real feel for the city. Fabiano our guide was terrific and I really appreciated his friendly manner and your style. High recommend to anyone.
The tour was good but I think the company can make it a little longer so people can enjoy themselves more instead cramping it all together
We had an amazing tour guide Monica Bertazzolo who worked with tourists using Exoticca travel. She was extremely knowledgeable and organized. She made the tour enjoyable and her language skills were outstanding. She communicated fluently in English, French and Spanish and kept everyone up to date on everything going on.
The guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic about providing the best tour. I always felt safe and enjoyed seeing the areas.
Lydia was an absolute joy to be around. She translated everything in two different languages so everyone understood. The tour one picked up was around 6 hours, but thorough. Would love to tour with her and the driver again.
Our tour guide was very informative. It was a very good tour. I most enjoyed Seeing the Christ the Redeemer up close. The tour was very organized and great value for the price.
We did this tour today and Monica was an excellent tour guide. She spoke to our group in 3 different languages, English, Spanish and Portuguese. She took out r group to great picturesque spots and gave us the history of each place. Christ the Redeemer and the Selaron Steps were amazing!!! Highly recommend!
Excellent tour as described. Visited all the sites. Very knowledgeable tour guide Christian. Christ the Redeemer visit was exceptional but book an early tour to avoid the crowds. Small group tour- 8 on our minibus.
Monica was on time, she is well experienced and knowledgeable of her job. She has a great attitude and very kind to the traveler groups.
We had a great day. The attractions don’t need any reviews. Juan was very knowledgeable and very pleasant throughout the tour. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would highly recommend :)
Beautifull views at Christ the redeemer. Our guide Monica was the best! Very knowlegable and helpfull.
We had the best tour of Christ the Redeemer, Sugar Loaf, and Rio De Janeiro city. Our tour guide Monica was patient, fun, and so knowledgeable. We we picked up at our hotel on time and we were taken to all the destinations as promised. We traveled in a comfortable air-conditioned minibus with a small group of 10 people. Our driver was also very efficient in finding quick and easy routes amongst the heavy traffic. If ever you want to do a tour in Rio De Janeiro please choice Carioca Travels. They are very reasonable, very efficient and professional.
The guide was really good, and it was as a perfect trip to watch some of the most beautiful parts of Rio
Amazing experience and a really nice, polite, educated guide who took care of us and made sure we have the best possible photos. I would definitely recomand.
Anderson really made this trip memorable. Thank you Anderson. The statue is dramatic. Must take a camera. The Pao de Acucar has newly been updated for tourism. This venue is worth seeing with Rio Carioca Tour LTD. Ask for Anderson for your guide. He is informative and thoughtful of the guests especially the older ones. Thank you so much.
This tour was amazing! We made many stops along the way which really made it worthwhile. We stopped at the Escadaria Selarón also known as the Selaron Steps, went along to the Cathedral which was HUGE! Very beautiful. We then stopped at Maracanã and took a few pictures outside. (Not sure if how the tour normally goes and if you would normally go inside - it was temporary closed due to COVID) we went on to Christ the Redeemer and it was beautiful. The statue is huge and there are amazing views of the entire city at the top. Pictures do NOT do it justice. There is also a small church area behind the Christ the Redeemer statue where you can say a prayer. Make sure to check the weather before closing a day - we were lucky to go on a sunny day with not a single cloud in the sky. Afterwards we stopped at a buffet for lunch (not included - we were with a group who chose an all day tour which has lunch included but the tour guide gave us the option to join and eat as well, so we paid separately but it was a great price for all you can eat). Afterward we were dropped off. A great day! Our tour guide Simone (if my memory serves me correct) was amazing and she spoke English, Spanish and Portuguese. Definitely the highlight of our trip.
It's worth doing when you are on a short visit in Rio and want to avoid the inherent hussle and bussle... The guide, Sergio was nice, informative and caring.
If you’re a Christian this is a must see in Rio. I wouldn’t pay for a tour. We came out cheaper taking a cab from our hotel in Leblon and paying for the train up. It’s definitely worthwhile capturing the journey from far away until you get on the train and then get to the top. Even in the midst of the crowd we were able to sneak in a few prayers. It’s definitely worth any cost to see this replica, and while nothing on earth can come close to what we imagine our Lord and Savior looking like this felt close. It just needed hair more like wool (smile)
This tour was a great way to see the city and make it up to the Christ Reedemer statue. The views are amazing from the top and it is a must! Well worth the money. The trip lasted about 5 hours and our guide was fun and informative!
Christ the redeemer is a very nice statue that you most see in person. Is is simply beautiful and breathtaking.
Simply beautiful, at statue you must see at least 1 time in life. It is breathtaking. And pictures don't do it justice, you have to see it in person
Best time to go is late afternoon. Get your day shots, then take sunset shots too. The views are amazing and you can get some really good pics. wednesday was by far better as a lot less people were there. BUT do not ask for a taxi to take you anywhere but to the base of the mountain. We aske to go to get the cable car, but got taken half way up, (taxi disappeared quickly). We had to get a minibus up the top half, then wasn't allowed to buy a ticket down, could only get half way down (again by minibus) then couldn't get an uber or taxi, so negotiated our way onto another minibus to get to the bottom. All of this was hassle we didn't need, while not speaking Portuguese!
