Well worth the price. Caio, the friendly guide picked us up at our hotel along with a driver. The driver saved probably an hour of hunting for parking then walking to the destinations. The guide was able to cut us through some very long lines and saved us at least 2 hours. So worth the price just for that. If you are looking for Instagram photos, this is the tour for you. Caio is an excellent photographer and knows all the spots to take amazing photos from. He even has a drone but we chose not to use it. He suggested Brazilian BBQ for lunch which turned out to be a Brazilian Steakhouse. Very pleasant and yummy but took up 2 hours of our tour so everything else was rushed. We went to Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf. Christ was worth it to check off a man-made wonder of the world. While there you also have great views of the harbor and check off a natural wonder of the world at the same time!! Sugarloaf was a little disappointing with super long lines so we had to pay extra for premium tickets to get to the top. I'd have been fine with just looking at it from the bottom & going to see something else but Caio was determined to get to the top for some sunset photos. As a 58 year old man, I am not too concerned about Instagram or fancy photos so my main suggestion is for there to be more of a discussion about what is important and what is not.

The Port Region experienced its peak and decline in just over a century. From a fishing village to the main port in the country, the area was also the gateway and home for the slaves, giving the region the nickname “Little Africa”, the number of blacks who lived there being such a big one. From 2010, with the beginning of the works of the Porto Maravilha project, which revitalizes the urban area while preserving the history of this region, several historical points were rediscovered. From Jardins do Valongo to Cais da Imperatriz, through modern projects such as the Museum of Art of Rio and the new Museum of Tomorrow, the project developed the tourist and economic potential of the region, forming a legacy for future generations. In this context, we selected some points of tourist interest in the Port Region of Rio de Janeiro, forming a great historical and cultural itinerary of this important region of the city.

At first, the neighbors mocked the bizarre color combinations as he mixed the steps with bits of blue, green and yellow tiles, the colors of the Brazilian flag. It started as a hobby for his main passion, painting, but soon became an obsession. Selarón was almost always broke and then sold paintings to finance his venture. It was a long and tiring work, but the artist went on with the work and finally covered the entire set of tiled, ceramic, and mirrored steps.

There’s no doubt that Caio knows the ins and outs of the city well. We were strapped for time and he knew that but he still managed to take us to see Sugarloaf Mountain and Christ the Redeemer in 3.5 hours. On top of all that, he is a FANTASTIC photographer. You won’t be disappointed with his pictures of your family! Thanks Caio!
Caio is a very good guide. Enthusiastic about what he does. I had good time walking on this tour with him.
I had an excellent experience with our guide, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. From the very beginning, he demonstrated outstanding professionalism, kindness, and respect toward everyone in the group. His education and manners truly stood out, making the entire experience pleasant, comfortable, and well organized. He was always attentive, patient, and willing to answer questions, explaining everything clearly and with genuine enthusiasm. One of the highlights of the experience was his photography skills. The photos he took were absolutely amazing—well composed, perfectly timed, and beautifully capturing both the landscapes and the emotions of the moment. He clearly knows how to find the best angles and lighting, and he made sure everyone felt comfortable and confident while being photographed. The final results exceeded all expectations and became unforgettable memories of the trip. In addition to his technical skills, his friendly and respectful attitude made a big difference. He treated everyone with courtesy and warmth, creating a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere throughout the tour. It was evident that he truly cares about providing the best possible experience. Overall, it was a wonderful experience, and I would definitely choose his services again without hesitation.
My colleague and I had only a few hours to see the highlights of Rio on a Saturday morning and Caio made it happen! He was organized (confirmed plans and pick up the night before), punctual, knowledgeable (he shared lots of insights into the city) and engaging. Even though we only used half of the hours the fee would normally cover, we were more than satisfied with the experience. Pros: 1. He took us to a few public locations with fabulous views and NO crowds. 2. As a licensed guide, he was able to help us navigate the standard queues. 3. As a knowledgeable insider, he found a "back door" up to Corcovado that saved our trip! 4. He knew folks at each location and that made a big difference with parking, access and time. Cons: 1. It's a fast-paced adventure! If you want a more leisurely tour, be sure to discuss it in advance. 2. He takes pictures. A LOT of pictures. Think: hundreds. For some folks, that's a plus! Be sure to discuss the kind of experience you want in advance. (He does take GREAT pictures, though!)
Caio was dedicated to giving us the most out of our full day tour. He was also committed to getting us memorable shots in the iconic locations in the city. We would not have been able to experience as much as we did on our own. Thank you, Caio!!!
Absolutely stunning photos! The quality and lighting are top-notch, truly professional work. The tour guide was incredibly knowledgeable and polite, making the experience even more enjoyable. Highly recommend both the photography and the guide's expertise
Caio was absolutely incredible. Treated us like family and actually looked out for us. The way he navigates through lines nothing like it, made us feel like VIP's, saved us atleast 2 hours of line waiting time. His pictures are professional and he know exactly where to go and how to take it and his camera equipment is top of the line. 11/10!!
Caio was very knowledgeable of the places he took us to . Appreciated that we could get to the places we needed to go to quickly and the best photo spots !
I had an amazing experience with Caio. He is very professional and fun, the car is very comfortable with AC and he is a great driver. Highly recommended!
Amazing experience! He is funny , dedicated to click some good pics! Really makes someone fall in love with Rio more than we already do! Will definitely recommend going with him and enjoying beautiful places!
Very professional always looking for our best choices. Everything went well very good photographer and knowledgeable. We are so happy with him that will hire him again for next time we come to Rio.
I went on a solo trip to Rio de Janeiro earlier this month (January) and originally only booked Caio for a hike to Telegraph Rock. I thought it was going to be a regular tour, but Caio exceeded expectations in all areas - so much so that I cancelled the tours I had scheduled with other companies and booked this best of rio private tour with him as my guide instead. Caio was a tour guide, historian, comedian, and professional photographer all in one. He always had a fun fact, a joke, a story, a recommendation, or a suggested photo location/background to share. At each location, Caio navigated and managed the crowds like a pro and always got the best shot using his professional camera equipment. Lastly and most importantly, he was communicative and flexible to work with. He was always available to answer my questions and customized the tour based on my interests. I explored, learned, laughed, and came back home with amazing photos to remember my time and share my experience with family and friends. I highly recommend this tour!!
Caio really helped make our time in Rio memorable. He’s an excellent guide and speaks very good English. We used him and his driver twice during our trip. If you want to see the big sites in Rio (Christ, Sugarloaf) without standing in line for hours - Caio is your guy. He is an excellent photographer and was great with my 7 and 10 yo kids. On our last day, he created a custom tour for us to go crystal shopping at a legit store (not geared towards tourists) and drove us all over town trying to find capivaras for the kids. We had a blast. He even walked us into the airport and helped with the bags. I would absolutely recommend Caio to anyone who wants to upgrade their experience in Rio. Thanks Caio!
The itinerary was well put together to optimize an efficient and fulfilling time, filled with exciting and unique events, breathtaking views, great food, inspiring education on the history, and incredible photos! This is to say the least. Then entire series of tours and guidance is by far one of the most professionally and customer-centered experiences I have had throughout my travels. Caio goes above and beyond in everyway possible!! I look forward to returning and spending time with this tour guide again!!
We did a whole-day tour of Rio, taking in the Christ Redeemer statue, Sugarloaf mountain, and some favelas. Caio tailored the tour to our interests and offered a fantastic, personalised service. We were able to skip many of the queues at major attractions and he knew all the best photo spots. He is a lovely guy and very knowledgeable. We really had a wonderful, personal experience that I do not imagine you would get on more general tours. I highly recommend this tour.
I had an amazing experience with Caio, who was incredibly friendly and gave us great tips. He also took wonderful photos of me and my friend, making our outing even more special.
Caio was really good. He showed in 8 hours all the good spots in Rio, helping to choose the right times at which not to encounter too much tourists, helping to take VIP fast track entries to attractions, helping making very nice pictures, with great English skills.
Ciao was an incredible Tour guide and phenomenal photographer. He was knowledgeable and proud of Rio’s rich history. He knew the best spots in the city for picture and views. He should really be a photo journalist! He arranged to pick me up from the airport and we spent hours touring the sites and eating and drinking like a local. He gave me great recommendations for the rest of my time in Rio and they did not disappoint. He is awesome and I cannot wot to connect with him my next trip to Rio.
This was my second private tour with Caio. Let me begin by saying that Caio is the best guide for a one day city tour in Brazil. He begins by taking you to a beautiful view of Sugarloaf Mountain in the Lake District. It’s morning so coconut milk And a beautiful view on the water is perfect. From there we went to the Christ of the Redeemer. There and everywhere we went Caio takes professional quality photographs with your camera phone. No angle is too difficult, no contortion not possible for Caio to take a great Instagram worthy shot. We opted for an option to tour Santa Marta Favela, where Michael Jackson filmed the video “They don’t really care about us.” This is a once in a lifetime experience for the adventurous. And Caio knows restaurants. This time he took us to a old time businessman’s lunch spot that had the best meal I’ve had in Brazil. Have an open mind and you will not be disappointed. In conclusion, it is with my highest regard that I recommend Caio. And I look forward to our next trip to Rio.
Caio our tour guide. He was on time .Really made our Brazilian trip very memorable. His fun facts along with the history of the places we visited made the trip that much more captivating. As a person who has traveled the world he ranks one of the best tour guys I've ever had. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who's going to Brazil
Caio was amazing! He contacted me ahead of time to put together a personalized tour that all 8 of us loved. He knew of places, views, and restaurants we didn't know to ask about. One of my friends had a broken leg and was on crutches, and Caio and the driver made sure everything went very smoothly. I would highly recommend his tour for anyone visiting Rio and the surrounding area!!
Caio was an excellent guide in all respects including pre-tour communication. He met us right on time in our hotel, and took us to number of very interesting locations in Rio including the top of Sugarloaf. He’s an excellent photographer, and use our phone to take some great pictures of us and some scenery we would not have captured otherwise. We told him we wanted to go to a nice restaurant, and he picked an outstanding restaurant with an excellent reputation and the food was great. His driver was also very good. I especially like the fact that, with his guide badge, we could bypass long lines. We have used several TBL guides in the past and he ranks up there with the best of them.
Caio is an excellent tour guide who is very detailed oriented. Always punctual and his fluent English was a plus! We learnt much of Brazil’s history and experienced their culture. I highly recommend.
Caoi was an amazing and friendly tour guide! He came up with a custom tour that fit my preferences and I loved every part of it. Would definitely recommend anyone new to Rio to have a tour with him!
Touring with Caio is the best decision we made in Rio! He contacted us 48hrs prior to understand what we had in mind &our preferences. On the D-day, we started at 6am but he still reached 30mnts earlier. The car was lux, he started by outlining the plan, and most importantly, traveling with Caio gave us an ease of mind. The pace was comfortable and the photos/videos he took for us were amazing! He brought us to great spots and allowed us to have dynamic on the lens. We encountered a hiccup when the car bumped into a pothole & burst two tires, and within few minutes we were back in action with uber. Such things happen all the time but Caio took care of the flow & vibe. He also engaged us in some interesting topics and meaningful sharings. We highly recommend Caio to anyone who wants to get the most our of Rio!
Caio is the best guide ever! He listens to what we like and took us places only locals know. The best Brazilian food and the best views. And because he knows Rio de Janeiro, we were at the famous touristic spots at the right time, without long waiting in queues. His English is extraordinary and he takes very nice pictures. And, very important, he is a very nice guy to be with. For sure we will meer again Caio
Caio was so much fun! He picked my friend and I up from our hotel, and instantly was asking questions to customize our experience and ensure we had the tour of our lives! We experienced SO many things on this tour, all of which we wanted, there is no cookie cutter recipe for Caio’s tours! Truly customizable! Something about having your tour guide walk into places and know the staff and be able to get you through long lines just makes you feel like you’re living your best life! How Caio isn’t already running his own photography business is insane because this man can take photos from my iPhone like a whole fashion photo shoot. This is hands down the best tour I have ever been on! Disclaimer, we were not interested in history specific dates and information. Our tour was more of a “my friend is a local and I want the local vibe experience”. Those looking for more historical information and experiences may not share my thoughts.
Caio was great he went above and beyond to make sure that we were happy. He was so accommodating and made sure that we had a customized experience. He’s a great photographer and knew the best photo angles and spots to take pictures. He gave us great recommendations for other places to explore in our trip. We truly felt like we were VIP the entire trip and that Caio was our well connected friend instead of a tour guide.
Caio was wonderful! He took us to so many places, and the tour was completely customized based on our needs. He was able to avoid crowds, skip lines, and show us the best views of Rio de Janeiro. We felt that every place where it took us was authentic. We loved the places where he took us to eat, because they were not touristic! We definitely recommend him!
Caio is a wonderful tour guide. He is friendly and really committed to ensuring that his customers have the best possible experience of Rio de Janeiro. This included an in depth tour of the favella, and a first rate experience at the Christ the Redeemer statue.
Caio, thank you so much for such an exceptional experience in Rio! So great we got to try the authentic local cuisine! The pictures you took of us were amazing! Definitely going to recommend your tours to all our friends!
If you don’t have much time, this is the tour you need book. Caio was very knowledgeable about Rio and it’s history. He also took amazing pictures! Highly recommend this tour!
Looooove. Very welcoming and friendly. Very informative. 👌🏾👌🏾👌🏾 I highly recommend anyone. He was great
My wife and I cannot recommend Caio enough for anyone who has limited time in Rio and wants to maximize their time visiting Rio’s historic sights and getting a taste of local culture and food. He does a fantastic job of ensuring that his customers experience each place's highlights from a physical perspective and an understanding of the history behind each. Furthermore, he does a phenomenal job documenting each customer’s visit at each site – my wife and I joked that his photos were better than our wedding photographer's – seriously, he is that good! Initially, we had planned to see Christ the Redeemer and Sugarloaf Mountain by ourselves on a separate day, but Caio convinced us that we should see those on his tour, and it was one of the best decisions of our time in Rio. His professional relationships with those in the tourist industry allowed us to expeditiously get to the main areas of each site and have time to really enjoy all they had to offer versus waiting in long lines. Even after our tour was over, he continued to provide us with recommendations of places to eat and sites to see around Rio. If you don’t go with Caio, you are missing out on an amazing, educational, and efficient way of taking in Rio’s highlights.
Caio was a great tour guide, offering us a Rio experience that was personalised and informative. He had an amazing ability to navigate through to get us the best viewing opportunities, took the best photos for us and showcased real Brazilian food and culture. We would recommend him to visitors who want the best Rio experience!
Caio was absolutely amazing at showing us all the best parts of the Redeemer site. Without him we would not have gotten anywhere near the number of fantastic memories that we gathered. No hesitation… book him!
Caio was a great guide. He was a great guy and knows the best places. He took amazing pictures and I will definitely be touring with him again.
Caio was a very great tour guide. He is very knowledgeable, funny and helpful. He took the best photos of us! Like a professional photographer! He knows a lot about Brazil, and answers all our questions and gave us some great recommendations for places in Rio. I definitely recommend a tour with him!
Caio is excellent, such a great photographer. Knowledgeable and super nice! Recommend him 100!!!!!!
Great tour guide. Caio has great photography skills. I highly recommend him. bespoke and friendly guy. hands down !!
Great photographer, money well spent. I found Caio and turns out it was great I love his job. I highly recommend him.
Not just a guide Caio got to know us and designed a trip for us! Our first time in Rio so yes we did Sugar Loaf and Christo which were great - but then we went down town and took in the vibe of the neighbourhood. Visiting the beautiful artwork of the graffiti walls, the African heritage trail and a wonderful meal at a local taverna selling homemade local food - delicious. Thank you Caio - next time we will book you on the magnificent mountain retreat tour which sounds so perfect
Caio is the best! He is so fun, knowledgeable and energetic! I had such an amazing tour with him. I also left something in his car and he drove all the way back to my hotel to drop it off! He’s so kind. I would highly recommend his four to anyone visiting Rio!
We had the best time hitting all the major spots in Rio with such a short amount of time. Caio is the best tour guide and goes out of his way to make sure you get the most out of the tour. He’s also an expert photographer. He has great energy and you can tell he really loves what he does. I would recommend this tour to anyone! Thanks, Caio!!
It was all worth it hiring a personal tour guide. Our guide Caio showed us city of Rio de Janeiro but I think my favorite ones were the Christ the Redeemer statue and the Sugar loaf. We didnt just have a knowledgeable tour guide, my wife and I also brought a photographer. We went back home with great memories of videos, photos and most importantly, experience. I highly recommend Caio to anyone. Bring enough sd cards😂
What can I say? Caio is the BEST guide I’ve ever had. Everything was personalized to my liking. He gave me lots of recommendations and I modified it with my wants and needs. He is very proud of his city and country and it shows. He’s very knowledgeable, funny , warm and I see him being kind to other people as well, not just to my husband and I. His tour is money well spent. As I told my husband, we need a Caio in every city we visit. Obrigado, Caio! We will be back to Brazil and we will call you. P.S. He also takes the best videos and pictures!
Caio was absolutely the best tour guide! He is very knowledgeable about the tour and extremely helpful! My friend has a disability and Caio considered that at every step. Caio doesn’t include this in the description, but he is an AMAZING photographer! He took so many pictures of us that no moment were undocumented. So much fun! Beautiful views! Unforgettable experience!
Being our first time in Rio, we had a list of things we wanted to see, but Caio gave us so much more. His knowledge of this beautiful city, and his commitment to fulfilling his client’s bucket list, make a day with young man far more valuable than just a Rio tour package. Here is the deal, if you book your tour with Caio, you will take part in a once in a lifetime memory making experience.
Had the most amazing experience with Caio! He asked detailed questions of our desires and exceeded all of them. There’s nothing better about a personalized tour. Additionally, our safety and comfort were always his primary concern. We intend to use Caio again on our next visit to Brazil !!!!!! Thank you so very much for the unforgettable memories!
