Angra dos Reis impressed us with its amazing scenery, crystal-clear waters, and beautiful islands. The tour was very enjoyable, with an attentive guide and excellent organization from the agency. An experience truly worth it!

Itinerary
Our nautical tour in the bay of Angra dos Reis takes around 5h, aboard a schooner model vessel. Starting around 11:30 am at the Santa Luzia pier - downtown Angra and returning to the same pier around 5 pm.
Special stop at a natural aquarium where you can see various species of fish and starfish. Its turquoise water with multicolored fish and its cinematic beauty make Lagoa Azul one of the most visited and contemplated places in Ilha Grande Bay.
Angra dos Reis has 365 islands, one for each day of the year. In addition to our dear Ilha Grande, taking a trip to Cataguases Island is a trip to the Caribbean without leaving the coast of Rio de Janeiro. Also called Ilha de Cataguás, it is one of the closest to the mainland, which makes the boat trip very easy even for those who are in the center of Angra.
With its calm waters and a pier, the place is one of the many whereabouts of the sloops and schooners that depart from the region. The beach has several attractions, for traditional bathers it offers a safe place to relax and enjoy the sunny day, while divers will come across a lot of marine life, despite the movement.
Stop for lunch at a typical restaurant in the region, the restaurant has the differential of passing the menu inside the vessel so that customers can choose the meal and this will be served as soon as it arrives at the beach. We have the option of lunch in a self service buffet, which consists of: fried fish, fried chicken, beans, rice, various salads, mush and pasta.
Lagoa Verde is a corner of shallow, calm, typically green waters and is one of the highlights of the northwest coast of Ilha Grande, very close to the Enseada de Araçatiba

We had an amazing day on the water. Our guide was fun and friendly.
Such a great experience! We had a phenomenal guide as well as a great time. Would definitely recommend !
The experience was disappointing and put the bus passengers at risk. To begin with, our hotel pickup—originally scheduled for 7:00 AM—did not arrive until 8:30 AM. What might have seemed like a mere scheduling mishap at first soon escalated into mechanical issues with the bus, which made countless stops before finally reaching our destination in Angra dos Reis. Afterward, we boarded a vessel named *Barco Tropical*; during the second stop—just after the Blue Lagoon—a fire broke out inside the engine room, causing significant alarm among the passengers on board. After half an hour, the mechanical issue was resolved, and we continued our journey. Furthermore, the port usage fee—which TripAdvisor had explicitly stated to us in writing would be 25 reais—was arbitrarily raised to 30 reais, with no explanation provided and in complete disregard of the email sent by your company. We finished the tour of Ilha Grande quite late—it was already nightfall—only to be loaded back onto the very same bus that had brought us there that morning. The bus continued to suffer from the same mechanical problems, breaking down repeatedly. Eventually, arrangements were made with another company to transport us back to Copacabana using a combination of a bus and a van. This entire ordeal demonstrates a profound lack of respect for the passengers and subjected them to unnecessary danger.
Pre-visit: your operator is not reachable as it changed from Amazing RJ to Thiago Ribeiro Lemos. TripAdvisor emailed to help us get in contact while no one picked up phone. Pick up location: we took 35 min uber to arrive 6:40 and no one responded via phone until 7:10. Finally Thiago showed up with double decker bus. That was impressive. It then circled for about two hours with more pick ups until we got on freeway. 2 hour Drive: it was scenic and had one pit stop. Don’t use restroom on bus. Thiago was collecting excursions (jet ski, snorkel set, photos), add on’s, tax, and others the entire drive. Gathering place: met up with two more tour buses to load on boat. First reaction was the boat is loaded to max capacity. First stop for snorkel: very short and no fish, couldn’t swim fast enough to check out the small island. Water was salty as expected. Second stop for snorkel: much better with overwhelming amount of fish since they feed them and they flap all over you. Water was not as clear but you can see the bottom without corals or plants. Third stop for lunch: this was a mayhem as multiple boats converged to dump hungry tourists for lunch. We were all hungry and ate anything in sight. Use bathroom at your own risk - we had to use manual buckets to flush others’ leftover excrement (close to camping experience). Some tourists even walked in with bare feet. Any drink or desert is extra. Last stop: very small cove with debris everywhere in water. We hopped in the water but others chose to stay on. All in all, it was worth the price if you like to sit and wait around. It was a large group experience that some may not prefer. You end up getting back to city by 9 pm ish, then loop around for drop off. We requested to leave the group 9:30p to be first dropped off. Thiago waited until we got the uber rides. I think Thiago genuinely cares for the tourists under his care, he took attendance and made sure no one is left behind.
A couple also join us Santino & Maria, on this tour, we book by our hotel Windsor Martinique Hotel in Copacabana. The bus ride was great comfortable, the guide was a female don’t remember her name didn’t talk much. The Lagoa Azul(Blue Lagoon) was beautiful. I didn’t like that they ran out of snorkeling gears. Wasn’t enough to go around. The Araca beach was a messy to much debris floating everywhere, trees branches, leaves, trash. Not many got into that water. The finally stop was Gipoia Island beautiful background rock, near where boats passed. The boat was not cleans, too many people on one boat. The foods look good and drinks did do either. The entertainment was good but didn’t last only, didn’t get everything involved. The stop to have lunch buffet was outside the food was ok, was very unexpected place. Too many people at one time hard get seats and need to be cleanness. Too many people in February 2026. I give this tour a rate of 5 out 10 only because I enjoy get in water because it was hot. And it cost too much rent vest to swim $35 reals. It should be included with the tour. Highly recommend at your risk. It was much better when we took the tour in May 2024. More Organized and real nice restaurant in town we walk to.
The blue lagoon was gorgeous and the itinerary was nice. The food was great. Did not feel overcrowded. Organization for pick up was excellent. Fabio was an excellent guide!
We stayed at a hotel in Barra and during the booking on Viator we picked the hotel name in the form. The order went through and our voucher said pick up at our hotel. However, less than 24hrs before the trip we were told there was only pickup 45 minutes away, and given that the trip is already many hours in a van to get to Angra, we decided not to go and couldn’t get our money back. They pointed to fine print in the booking about no pickup in Barra.
The guide was very good but the boat was so packed with people we could hardly find a seat and it was very uncomfortable- the bathrooms were so gross and dirty that it was obscene- I do not recommend for older folks who like a little comfort but for the younger folks it seemed to be fun according to my kids- the speaker for music was broken and the bus smelled like feces as the bathroom was not clean- I would not recommend
Long, unorganized collection system. Spent 2 hours in the bus driving one block to the next. Was told by tour operator I must be grateful and not complain. The tour guide spoke mainly Spanish/Portuguese when I selected English. When we arrived at the venue it was chaos. Different groups everywhere. More standing round and waiting I spent R$320 on an Uber and left. What an unpleasant experience. Having travelled to many different places and taken multiple tours I have never experienced this.
I had so much fun! I did see a lot of reviews complaining, but I think as long as you go in prepared you can have a really good time on this tour. -It is a long day that is mostly spent in transit. I got picked up at 7:00am and I don't think I got back until 8:30 or 9:00. The area is quite far from Rio so the morning starts with about a 3 hour bus ride with a stop for a snack and bathroom break. I forgot to bring my headphones which would have made the long ride go by faster. -The time on the boat was a big party! We had a DJ on board and people were up and dancing and having a good time. You can buy food and drinks on board (I didn't buy anything but they looked good). -The meal is indeed not served until 4:30pm so you should eat at the rest stop and also bring some snacks with you. As other reviews mentioned the buffet is not a super upscale place but I thought it was fine. -It takes some time to island hop so you'll only spend about 30-40 minutes in each location (as outlined in the tour description) the time goes by quickly. -It was a little colder on the boat than I expected with the ocean breeze and I also forgot to bring a towel, definitely don't forget that. Your stuff will be safe in the boat. -At the first stop you jump right into the water, the second and third stop are more beach vibes. I don't think this trip would be really worth it for people who aren't swimmers or planning on getting in the water at all. -For an extra charge you can get a snorkeling mask, life vest, and also a photography package (1 or 2 locations). Get the mask or bring goggles because the water is super salty. -I got the 2 location photography package and even though I felt super awkward and weird while taking the photos, the photographer really knew what he was doing and they came out so nice!! This became a highlight of my whole trip! I also made some friends on board who kindly took some nice photos for me on the beach too. -Bring cash if you want to purchase any of these extras. I'm sure they take credit card as well but it's so much faster with cash. -There will probably only be one or two staff members on the boat who can speak English but this wasn't a problem -I went as a solo female traveler and felt totally safe and had a lot of fun! There weren't a ton of other solo travelers on the tour and if they were, the rest were guys. I did make friends along the way, but I could see how this would be a lot more fun to go as a couple or a group of friends. -Since the areas you visit are more remote and tranquil, overall this was a much better beach experience than I had at Copacabana or Ipanema which are insanely crowded
Many things on this trip did not match the description. The day started with getting a phone call at 0640 saying the bus was outside waiting (tour was supposed to start at 0730). It took 2 hours to pick everyone up. We then had a 2 hour trip (AFTER the 2 hour pickup of everyone) to a boat with 120 people - the tour description says 45 people max. When I questioned the amount of people I was told that only applies to the bus, not the actual tour. The boat was a party boat. The music was so load you could not hold a conversation with the person right next to you. There were no snacks or even water unless you paid extra. Lunch wasn't until the end of the day, around 3:30. The boat was so crowded people had to sit on the wet floor, and we were told typically there are 150 on the boat, today was light at 120. The food on the island was good and as described. The bus was comfortable. Overall, we would never do this tour again, nor would we recommend it. The tour description needs to be improved greatly as it is very misleading.
All perfect. The time for each stop. The guide friendly and attentive. Atmosphere on the boat. Buffet really good even the pasta (and I am Italian) 😄
Fantastic tour.. Super guide.. Enjoy.. Spectacular place.. Ideal for spending a day full of fun and nature 🇧🇷🇧🇷🇧🇷❤️
Timely coordination and communication was spot on. Best service. Guide is so helpful and very knowledgeable.Thank you team🙏
Great tour around the beaches. Comes with unlimited buffet style lunch / dinner. Would definitely reclining during your visit in Brazil.
It was a beautiful trip. We loved it. Friendly people. The tour was relaxing and the location was very beautiful. The guide was good as well
We loved the trip! Flavia the tour guide was fantastic and so good! However; I feel that too many people were on the boat and that got a bit messy at times, also some of the other passengers were very late, which made our overall experience not the best. But I know this is their fault and not your agency, flavia and the team.
This was a very long day - we started at 8am and arrived back at the hotel at 10pm. Over half the trip was sitting on the bus which wasn’t a pleasant experience on a hot day as the aircon struggled to keep up with the temperature for the number of people on board. The actual boat trip was nice and a great vibe, lovely scenery and the water pleasant to swim in, albeit busy with lots of people on each of the many boats on the water. Lunch was fairly average and we didn’t have it until 4:30pm so make sure you pack snacks as it’s a long day and you may not want to eat the lunch buffet. This isn’t something that I would do again or recommend because, in my opinion, the discomfort and length of the bus ride outweighed the enjoyment of the boat trip.
It was a nice experience. Water very cold but staff was very nice and lunch was good. Drinks were good
I thoroughly enjoyed this Ilha Grande day trip. For a solo traveler who didn't want to deal with the cost of scheduling a private transfer or booking a pousada for a weekend trip, this was a perfect option for me. The tour included coach transfer, a boat tour with four different stops, and lunch at the end. Rocio, my guide, was enthusiastic and helpful! I was disappointed to see how many bad reviews there were. For any gringos (foreigners), I want to level your expectations. This trip is a long day (over 12 hours total). The style of day trip is very common in Brazil so the reviews about the lack of organization feel out-of-context. Welcome to Latin America, nothing runs on time. The lunch option is humble, given how little infrastructure there is on Ilha Grande. Do not expect luxury. However, despite those things, Ilha Grande is a must-see destination with lots to offer visitors. I highly recommend this tour.
The absolute longest and most stressful day of my life. We had close to 200 people on one boat with no room for anyone to sit or even stand we were shoulder to shoulder and it was extremely uncomfortable. The “lunch” provided was only given at 4:30 pm in an obvious attempt to get everyone to spend more money buying food on the boat! The plates were wet and everything looked dirty and unsanitary I could not even eat. The bus ride back was over 3 hours and the bus driver was driving extremely terrible making everyone yell from fear.
The worst experience I’ve had. Was not aware we were gonna spend the first 2.5 hours on the bus, and then was shoved on the boat with 160 people on one boat. Felt like a can of sardines couldn’t even properly sit without being sat on top of , they had no limit of people on the boat. When we arrived to eat lunch it was so unsanitary, flies were all around the food, the plates were all wet, and it just looked plain DIRTY that I lost my appetite immediately and did not even eat. On the way back the bus rider was going to fast over all the pot holes we were levitating off the ground and it took 3 hours to get home. We left around 8 am and I didn’t get back to my hotel till 10 pm. Don’t waste your money!!!!!!!!!!
This is definitely not something I would do again. The actual tour was very pretty and it was nice to swim in the water and see the beautiful scenery. However, the descriptions failed to mention this will be once of the longest days of your life. We were picked up in Copacabana around 7 a.m and we’re unaware we would spend the next five plus hours on a bus. There was a lot of waiting around in lines and communicating was difficult because the tour was fully Portuguese. The food was buffet style and was very mediocre but I was so hungry it did not matter to me. Make sure to pack snacks and be prepared for a very long full-day trip.
This was by far the worst guided tour we ever did. Not only was the boat loaded with close to 100 people (although the description said it would be max 45 people) but not one person from the staff spoke a single word of English although we specifically chose this tour because it was supposed to be offered in English. On top of this the transfer took more than 1 hour longer than it should have, the music on the boat was so loud that we couldn’t speak. almost all the drinks in the bar solf out during the first 2 hours and the lunch buffe was terrible. This was a total waste of money and time. Would not recommend to anyone.
Wasn't sure what to expect as the description wasn't really accurate. It was over a 3 hour coach ride to get to our final destination which I wasn't expecting at all so make sure you bring snacks and water! Upon arrival at the boat we took a lovely leisurely ride out to where the fish would be. You get the opportunity to swim with the fish and have videos and photos taken underwater this was amazing but felt a little exploitative of the fish :( but the experience was breathtaking you get given a snorkel and mask (extra fee) and get to take the photos which was also extra. Then we head to lunch which was a buffet type event which was decent and one more step on a lovely island beach. Very relaxing day. The only negative thing I would say is that they are mostly concerned with how much money they can make as we left the boat they were there counting money etc, there wasn't anyone to hype the crowd on the boat and tell us where we were going (in English) and the tour guide didn't talk to us at all during the coach journey but the overall experience was wonderful.
This was such a cool experience! We went in a group of 5, but there was probably about 60 people on the boat ride. WE didn't have to worry about a thing, since drinks, food, and a really good lunch later in the day are provided. I highly recommend this excursion if you're traveling to Rio and need to fill up a day with something to do.
I have to say, the drive out to Angra dos Reis had me a bit worried (over 3 hours), BUT I was completely wrong! The drive was worth every second of the boat tours. Got to stop at several beaches and swam with tropical fish. The boat itself had a fun vibe and great music. There was a bar too! If you're looking for breathtaking tropical views and hidden gem beaches, this is your excursion. Super fun for our group of five! Also, we were picked up RIGHT in front of our Airbnb. That was a major plus.
This is my favorite place in brasil, but it’s also very dangerous. This city has the best beaches, hotels and restaurants. You have to visit Jesus Christ, sugar loaf , the botanical gardens and of course a futbol game. But don’t wear jewelry, carry a cell phone, or money. In reality you are screwed. Stay away from side streets. Only walk on Avenida Copacabana or take a taxi, not an Uber.
Wonderful views. Relex time. Very well schooner boat. Freindly staff. Excellent guide, responsible and freindly Diego Siva. We were the only English speaking among more than forty people and we got special attention. That is most appreciated.
I loved TD the beaches, the landscape, the services, spectacular guide the boat team the sailor, very good people... congratulations for the team and organization.
The tour was great, the blue lagoon is perfect and all the stops are great. Very attentive guide, very fun boat ride. It was super worth it.
Best experience of my life. We went on a schooner tour. Excellent guide, helpful and very attentive In addition to the great service provided, the price is super affordable. It was worth every penny, I can't wait to go back to Angra and walk with them again.
all beautiful. for lunch we ate fish, the day was masterful. they came to pick us up at the combined time, and the guide was pleasant with us from the beginning.
We are looking for a tripadvisor tour Wonderful tour! All Perfect. The tour was spectacular! Note 1,000,000!!! Katrina guide I recommend
Nota mil, tour in the islands of angra dos reis and la isla grande perfecta. Maristela guide super attentive, I recommend it a lot, it's really worth it.
beautiful beaches, dolphins passing by. the beautiful and spacious boat and the background music. a day in total relaxation !!!
unforgettable day! sun, sea and relaxation, plus everything with the first agency in rio de janeiro, punctual, friendly and always attentive! we will be back soon
No words to describe this wonderful tour. Our guide was Note 1,000,000!!!Thanks! Wonderful tour! All Perfect. Beautiful!!!!!!
Beautiful place. It is worth visiting.
It was a very beautiful, sunny day; we were able to do the entire excursion without problems, everything as we had contracted.
It was amazing all the tours, we knew fantastic places, and I especially loved Angra dos Reis and cable arrange was a unique experience
It was an incredible experience. The guide Tiago was 5 stars in front of everyone who had on the tour, thank you very much to them.
The tour deserves for the beauty of the landscapes, whether the lagoons surrounded by dunes or the ocean beaches that you find yourself immersed in situations of rare natural beauty. Nice tour with a great guide.
The experience was amazing from beginning to end! The entire staff was super attentive and professional — a special highlight for our guide Thiago, who was extremely kind and always willing to remove any doubts with a lot of patience and good mood. I found it sensational that the guides were trilingual, speaking Portuguese, Spanish and English very fluently — that makes all the difference and is something I appreciate very much. The places we visit are breathtaking, perfect for unforgettable photos. The day was beautiful and the time spent at each stop was ideal, without running. We had a lot of fun and it is definitely a tour that I recommend 100%!
We started the tour very early, we chose the pick-up point and started the bus trip, they make a single stop before the experience on the boat so that you can shop in case you get hungry. When we got on the boat they played music and sold some snacks and drinks. Everyone's attention was spectacular, we passed by beautiful beaches, saw marine fauna and had beautiful weather.
Excellent ride and attention. Punctual in hotel pickup, very good lunch and entertainment on the boat. Very beautiful landscapes and precise times.
Beautiful seaside day with heavenly beaches. The organization is fluid. Lots of people on the boat but very good services! The beach and swimming stops in the open sea are long enough to allow you to fully enjoy them. Lunch (included in the price of the excursion) is perfectly fine. Good lively atmosphere in the boat. Highly recommended!
Following a long bus journey we arrive at a boat excursion which will make 3 stops including a remarkable one which allows us to see small fish - bring some chips to approach them A hot meal awaits you at the end of the day Bring a change of linen to keep you warm!
A pleasant day. A great team dedicated and who knows his stuff. The bus lacks a lot of love. The landscapes are very beautiful.
