On November 3, 2026, my husband and I along with friends went on the walking tour and Bruno was a tour guide. His tour was informative and engaging. My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed every moment. We especially appreciated his knowledge, the history he shared with the group, and the way he brought the stories of the places we visited to life. We walked away with a much deeper appreciation and understanding of the culture and history. Thank you, Bruno, for making our experience in Brazil that much more meaningful. It was truly a pleasure having you as our guide!
Bruno is a great guide with a lot of knowledge and emotions for the city. He really provided a lot of details and made us connect to the history. Definitely recommend!
The tour was really informative and well structured. We learned a lot about Brazilian history and culture. As some of the topics are quite dark and complex, Bruno did a great job of explaining them in a sensitive and understandable way, which helped us gain a deeper understanding. Overall, you can really see how much passion Bruno brings to the tour and how important the topics are to him. We really enjoyed the experience and would definitely recommend the tour!
The tour with Bruno has been really amazing. He gave us a very useful introduction to the historic context of Brazil to better understand how slavery played an important role in it and how it shapes today’s brasilian culture. But he also put a lot of himself personally in the tour, in a very honest and inspiring way, which made the experience really unique and interactive. If you want to truly get a glimpse of how Brazil got to be how it is today, I can only recommend this tour strongly.
Wow! We are really impressed by the Little Africa tour and our guide Bruno. In the tour you learn a lot about the history of Rio de Janeiro: the good parts as well as the dark. Bruno takes you on a journey through the history and heritage of Afro-Brazilians. You see a lot of interesting spots and especially the stories and information make it come alive. He guides with passion, personality and a good heart, hoping to also help you translate history to modern times. What do we see happen now and how can we make the world a little better? You finish the tour with a head full of thoughts and a qr code with good spots to visit in Rio the Janeiro.
I learned a lot on this tour! Bruno is a well-researched, passionate and charismatic guide. He was candid about the treatment of Africans from the time they arrived to Rio's ports until present. He guided us through interesting murals, monuments and historic landmarks and highlighted cultural leaders and pioneers within the African community. I would highly recommend this tour.
We loved Bruno’s African Heritage Tour. Learning about the history of slavery and its legacy was one of the main reasons we came to Brazil. Bruno created a powerful moment of tribute to the people who suffered under slavery, while also showing us the cultural resistance that emerged from it. He introduced us to Afro-Brazilian culture and samba—and truly made us feel its spirit. His sincerity and passion for sharing this history made the tour both meaningful and enriching. We are very glad we had the opportunity to meet him.
Since the moment we arrived we were received with so much love and presence! Bruno was such a eager and knowledgable guide I cannot recommend him enough. I laughed, I cried, I felt every single feeling that was being shared. You won’t be able to grasp Rio without learning what he shares with such intention and passion… please please please do it 🥹 you won’t regret at all!
Bruno was our guide in Rio de Janeiro city center tour and he was the best guide I have ever had in a tour like this. He is super engaging and even if the tour is long (3 hours) time flew by really quickly and it was never boring, he did an amazing job. We learnt about the colonial history of Brazil, the flag, Rio as a capital, the slavery trait, the new and old building, famous figures of Brazil and so on. He even did a samba song for us with a little drum! He gave so many recommendations of places in Rio for parties, music, markets, restaurants and also was available to give recommendations for other places in Brazil. He travelled the whole of South America and he is an extremely knowledgeable person. Genuinely the best tour guide I had. He even left his phone number to us so we can text him for other recommendations around Brazil, lovely person!
I went on the "Little Africa: African Resistance and Culture in Brazil" tour with Leandro - it was fantastic. He guided us through multiple neighborhoods in Rio and explained Brazil’s history with slavery, the influence of samba, the history of favellas, etc. Would 100% recommend!
I love Little Africa tour with Bruno. You get not only to know, but also to feel Rio with him :) we went to to places I think we wouldn’t unless the tour and learnt plenty of interesting stories
Fantastic walking tour of Little Africa led by Bruno. He managed a very difficult balance of thoughtfully presenting the history of Rio and not sugar coating the story of slavery and its implications, while keeping it engaging and lively. I really appreciated his energy and enthusiasm for the topics and stories he shared. Definitely recommend.
We thoroughly enjoyed the tour of Little Africa with Bruno. He was an outstanding guide — deeply knowledgeable about the area’s rich history and able to share it in a way that was both powerful and moving. His passion and conviction shed light on the realities of the past, delivering a poignant speech. The tour gave us a much deeper appreciation of Brazil’s history, Rio de Janeiro, and its people. 10/10 — highly recommended!
We did the Free Walking Tour – African Heritage with our guide Bruno, and it was excellent! The tour was full of interesting information, and Bruno really knows how to bring history to life with his storytelling. Truly recommendable!
The tour through the Little Africa neighborhood was highly interesting. I have been traveling to Brazil for many years and already knew Rio and its history quite well. Bruno provided me with completely new impressions and information during his vividly presented tour. He has delved deeply into the history of Rio, Brazil, and slavery and presented the cultural roots of the Cariocas and samba vividly, including a little samba on his pandeiro.
Excellent and necessary tour of Rio's history.
Lia is an excellent guide, with a lot of patience and willingness to answer questions. She even offered her jacket to a tourist to protect her from the rain that fell that day. Truly an excellent experience that, as an architect, she offered from an interesting perspective full of culture and history.
I did the African Heritage tour with the guide Pedro. The tour is super interesting and the guide made all the difference. Due to his extensive knowledge of the history of Brazil, the tour was super enriching. I recommend it to everyone who wants to know a little more about this part of Brazil’s history.
If you want to understand a bit of the history of our Brazil and the Brazilian and Carioca culture do the tour "Pequena África". What an amazing, exciting tour, especially if you are lucky to do with the guide Bruno. Bruno managed to summarize the city’s important history and how much it still reflects today. Still updated us from the historical and political scene in a light, irreverent, fun way. He had everything on that tour: had the guide working with the heart, giving his best energy, had music, instrument, (by the way, he sang very well!), sambou, translated a super special samba for people to understand what the singers sang in samba, finally, without words! I did the tour with him in English, because I was accompanying my German husband and I can't help but recommend. You leave the tour as if you were on a journey to the past and you are a lot more human too! Wanting to enjoy and explore Rio even more and with other eyes. I recommend it to everyone, especially to Brazilians who do not (re)know the importance of Africans in our culture/history. It's a life class! Congratulations, Bruno! Continue working with the soul and touching so many people with their emotion, sensitivity, sensibility and wisdom! How proud to have in Rio! How lucky that my husband and I met you yesterday! Thank you very much, ❤️. Let more come! Success! Big hugs, Carol and Frank Hopfe
The historical tour that Lea did was excellent, a lot of adequate and interesting information. Lia has shown us her love for Rio and her story. It's been a very good three hours.
Ceci y Male
Bruno is excellent! It exceeded my expectations information, anecdotes, sentiment, social commitment, music, history and poetry of beloved Little Africa. Recommended if you want to learn and experience the history and present of such a powerful and beautiful city!
My family and I discovered a jewel of sympathy and knowledge, as we were guided by Bruno through “Little Africa” Carioca. To the right extent, Bruno introduced us to a part of the city still touristically in development, but with great potential given its historical relevance. Our 9-year-old daughter remembered the history classes, referring to the sad slave market in Cais do Valongo. We highly recommend!
