Amazing guide but sugarloaf and christ the redeemer could be done without a guide with skip the line tickets but definitely helped get me through smoother. But amazing exploration if the city afterwards.

Itinerary
You'll be met at your hotel by your private guide and head to the base of Corcovado Mountain by car, passing by Rio's beaches and the Rodrigo de Freitas Lagoon on the way.
Reaching the Cosme Velho district, you'll take a unique Swiss cogwheel train that climbs the mountain from its base to nearly the summit. The very top is reached by climbing a flight of stairs to arrive at the iconic Christ the Redeemer Statue. The view, from this vantage point, with the surrounding Tijuca National Forest spreading below and a circle of mountains closing the horizon at the very back of the Guanabara bay is truly spectacular. After some time to walk around and take photos, we make the way back down.
We then head towards to the bohemian Santa Teresa neighborhood, home to a collection of local boutiques and galleries. The charming area of Santa Teresa also features many trendy bars and restaurants offering several options of snacks and dishes, not to mention its breathtaking views. Don’t miss out on it!
From Santa Teresa to Lapa, there is the famous Selaron steps, a stairway decorated with colorful tiles. Known for its energetic bohemian vibe, “Lapa” is the most buzzing area in town day and nighttime.
Have you ever heard of the Lapa neighborhood? If not, it should! It's very easy to know that you've arrived in Lapa. There is a famous monument that is the official image of Lapa, the large white arches aqueduct postcard of Rio.
Walk through Rio’s downtown through some of the coolest touristic areas catching sights and culture until Mauá square. The walk passes by historic attractions, lots of bars and restaurants, arriving at Mauá square where all tribes and people get together.
See a different side of Rio in its up-and-coming Porto Maravilha area symbol of the renewed Rio after the Olympics.
Mural painted by Eduardo Kobra listed by the Guinness Book of Records as the largest graffiti in the world.
Beautiful building and preserved architecture. It's one of the most important Brazilian theaters.
The Metropolitan Cathedral of Rio de Janeiro stands out among the buildings in the Center of the city. Its unique architecture catches the attention of everyone passing by and surprises those who visit it! Its appearance and history are unconventional and make it one of the most curious spots in the wonderful city!
The Sambodrome is the home to the Rio Carnival, where the parades take place during three nights every year, a concrete structure built specifically for the Carnival. It's an avenue with bleachers on both sides divided into sectors.
Admire the gorgeous cutting-edge museum structure, designed by famous architect Santiago Calatrava.
The most important Brazilian football temple. Scenery of important Brazilian football classic and facts, like hosting the final matches for the 1950 and 2014 football World Cup and the Olympics final football match in 2014.
Beach that inspired the composition of the famous song "Ipanema Girl”. Beautiful beach that deserves all the fame and admiration.
We will then go up the Sugarloaf Mountain. A series of two cable cars will take you to the top of Sugar Loaf. At the top, again some of the most breathtaking views of Rio, this time from a different vantage point than at Corcovado. After that, tourists may want to enjoy lunch at a very nice “all-you-can-eat buffet” steakhouse restaurant (not included).
Pass by Copacabana beach that was inspiration of songs and poetry, and one of the most famous postcards in Brazil. Copacabana is also stage of one of the biggest New Year's Eve in the world, the neighborhood of Rio de Janeiro has a lot of history, cultural life and bohemia.

We did the 5 day tour of Rio with Gregtur in August 2026. Camila was our guide. Her knowledge of Rio (the city, attractions, traffic, culture and food scene) is unmatched. We were constantly skipping lines and getting first class service at the major attractions due to her relationships with the gatekeepers of the attractions. She is very funny and had us laughing out loud many times per day. When she could see bad weather was going to impact our views of the city, she developed high quality options for us to choose for better ways to spend the rainy days. She was very responsive to our interests. If we showed interest in a place, she let us stay longer. If we were less interested in a place, she would suggest we move on earlier than planned. Most guides just follow a script about where we go for how long regardless if you are engaged in that part of the program. She directed us to outstanding restaurants both during the tours and in our free time afterwards. We were also impressed with our driver Francisco. He was always there early, kept the van stocked with cold water, and could drive and park and maneuver the large van like it was a small car. He was friendly and willing to go along with whatever plan changes we had due to the choice we had from the rainy days. The only things that were odd to us were the fact we had a new guide only for the dinner/show night. We didn’t understand why this wasn’t Camila accompanying us since she was with us all the rest of the five days. We also didn’t understand why we had a different driver for the last day and the ride to the airport.
We simply would not have seen so much of Rio in one day if we had attempted to do this on our own. This company is top class. Friendly, professional, prompt communication and a guide that was absolutely fantastic. Henry was terrific and wound us around the busy Rio streets with ease. The weather in late May wasn't that great but honestly it didn't detract from an amazing day out. Would highly recommend (and fast pass for the train to Christ the Redeemer and Sugar Loaf worked a treat, getting us through quickly but most importantly with best seats/views). We worked with this tour operator to get the best time slot to fit in with our day. The tour operator will provide links to where to buy and fir what time.
Camila is very professional and friendly guide. We had a lovely time with her in Rio and we highly recommend her.
Camila and Matheus made my tour an unforgettable experience from start to finish. Camila was incredibly kind, attentive, and deeply knowledgeable, bringing every detail of the journey to life with passion and care. Matheus complemented the experience perfectly with his professionalism and smooth, reliable driving, always making me feel safe and comfortable. Together, they are without a doubt the best tour guide and driver I have ever had—no matter the country. They went above and beyond to ensure everything was seamless, thoughtful, and enjoyable. Thanks to them, my day was absolutely perfect, and I truly could not be happier with the experience.
Fantastic experience. Camilla was a great guide and very knowledgeable. Highly recommended.
We had a lovely time with Camila and Marcos. Camila is full of information about rio and its history and delivers it all with a comedic flare. We say a wide variety of sites and everyone enjoyed themselves.
My wife and I spent a fantastic day touring Rio's most interesting locations with our guide Pedro. Pedro was extremely knowledgeable about Rio, and shared insights and made for a very fun day. My wife is scheduled for knee surgery, and we wanted a private guide so that we wouldn't hold up others getting on and off a bus, as well as we would have missed seeing some things because she wouldn't be able to keep up with a group pace. Pedro was so patient and caring, and we got to see and do everything we wanted. I can't begin to thank Pedro enough for the experience he provided for my wife and I. And also a very special thanks to Gregtur. We were trying to put together private tours to be able to enjoy Brazil knowing we could not be very mobile this trip. Gregtur representatives were friendly, helpful and responsive at all hours of the day and night - just amazing! We could not have had the vacation we did without them. Thank you!
Camilla was an excellant guide. well informed on Brazil/Rio history and culture. AND was a lot of fun to spend the day with.!! as we only had one day in Rio, having skip the line tickets to Sugarloaf and Christ the Redeemer was money well spent. Camilla seemed to know everyone along the tour and was able to weave us in and out and past the long lines. want to come back to take her food tour
5 star rating for Camila. Excellent pits stop at must see attractions in Rio. Extra ordinary effort to guide us thru ticketing issues at Sugarloaf. Bravo Camila.
Camila is an excellent guide. With her knowledge of the city and her boundless joy, she creates a unique and wonderful atmosphere where the hours fly by. We explore amazing places like Sugarloaf Mountain and the Rio Library, where time seems to stand still and you wish you could stay forever. Thank you so much for an excellent day... 1000% recommended. If I take another tour, I'm absolutely certain I'll take it with her.
Camilla was awesome. She was prompt and very knowledgeable. It was easy to understand her English. She has so much touring experience. She got us to all the popular sites in Rio quickly and we didn’t waste time in traffic. Last, she took us to a local restaurant in her home community for a Rio style lunch. We all enjoyed the prompt service and delicious meal. You should ask for Camilla whenever you are in Rio!
My experience with Newton was amazing, he is a very experienced and knowleadgeable person, discovering Rio with him was great!
Very smooth and excellent experience with our tour guide Flavio. The company is also very much helpful with the organization from the first day of our reservatiın. If you want a friendşy and knowledged tour I would definitely recommend them.
My wife and I did a tour with Camila 3 years ago and it was so good that we brought our children back. Camila is comprehensive covering all the historical information and so much fun. Highly recommended
This was our first time in Rio. It has been a dream come true to come here and experience the people and culture and sights and sounds and tastes of Rio. Camilla was very accommodating. We told her our top priorities of what we wanted to see and experience. She made sure we got to each place at the best time and Renato made sure we got there safely with his excellent driving skills. Camilla is a wealth of knowledge and was able to answer all of our questions in beautiful English. She helped us gain appreciation for the culture and significance and beauty of each site as she shared her stories and knowledge with us. Everywhere we went people knew her and were kind and generous to us because we were with Camilla. She got us in and out of places quickly without being rushed. We feel we truly experienced life in Rio ancient up to present day. We saw much more than we anticipated and felt safe and protected throughout our entire experience. We will recommend Camilla and Renato to everyone we know. It was a magical day in Rio. Thanks for your kindness and love in showing us your beautiful City, people, and foods!!
Gregtour Tourism is an amazing tour company and I highly recommend Camila as a tour guide. My friends and I did the Rio Day tour and it was better than expected. Camila and our driver knew exactly what time was best for each and every site and their expertise helped us understand and Embrace the Rio-Brazilian culture. Camila and Gregtour company listened to our wants and expertly incorporated the timing to allow my friends and I to truly enjoy our tour. Our tour was only yesterday and my friends and I recommended Gregtour Company and Camila to several friends and family that will travel to Rio in the next few weeks!
FANTASTIC day. We got to see all the highlights in a relaxed without ever feeling rushed. We love private tours cause you have the flexibility to stay at any place for as long as or as little as you like. We got to see Copacabana and Ipanema beaches, Sugarloaf mountain and Christ the Redeemer and other highlights throughout the city including the Cathedral. Worth every penny and we recommend it highly. The perfect day
Our guide, Vitor picked us up at the cruise port exactly when he promised, then took us on a really comprehensive tour of Rio de Janeiro. We were able to see Maracana Stadium, Sugarloaf Mountain (separate fee), Christ the Redeemer (separate fee), Copacabana, Ipanema, and historical sites dating to Portuguese colonial times and afterward. As a history buff, I was impressed with Vitor’s knowledge of Brazilian history, including the long-lasting impact of Pedro II. We stopped for local treats like açaí bowls and juice from cashew fruit, which we had never had. We ended the day with dinner (meal not included) at an authentic Brazilian steakhouse, before we were dropped off at the airport for our flight home. Great experience, and highly recommended for anyone who wants to experience the “must see” sites and also learn about Brazilian history and culture.
We did this private tour (two people, two separate days) and had a phenomenal experience. Everyone was very professional, communication was quick, the pick ups/drops were flawless, and it was truly a custom experience based on what we wanted to do/see. We had two different guides for each of the days, and while they had very different personalities both were excellent and we would do another tour with each of them. Hard to imagine it being a better experience -- highly recommend Gregtur for a private tour of Rio!
Fantastic day out in Rio with Newton. The tour was quite flexible - you basically decide the day’s itinerary when you hop in the guide’s car, so come prepared. We visited Cristo Redemptor, Santa Teresa, the old Centro, and more. The Santa Teresa neighborhood with all of its art, small shops and restaurants, and iconic colonial architecture was a highlight. Also, the center was really interesting to see as its former government buildings (from the days of Rio as the Brazilian capital) are real architectural gems. A church in the area with its gilded interior was amazing to view as well. Many thanks to Gregtur which responded right away and was the most organized company during our planning. The fast communications made planning and booking easy and fun. Also, our sincere gratitude to Newton for his knowledge, sense of humor, and love of his town - all of which contributed to a stellar day out.
We had a great day with lovely Camilla and the very nice driver Renato who made a fantastic tour to all highlights of Rio. 😊
We had a cloudy day, but the tour guide, Camilla and the driver, Marcos , made it perfect for all of us. Our kids had a great time and we were able to enjoy the day. They took us to all the main sites and were able to accommodate all of our requests. Camilla is great with kids and made the 8 hour tour very entertaining.
Four of us on a work trip in Brazil went to Rio for the weekend, and our private tour was perfect for having only a short period of time in Rio. Flávio was an excellent guide, knew an extensive amount of the history of Rio, and took really good care of us the whole day. We saw all the sights and the whole experience was completely painless for a tourism-heavy day. I would highly recommend to anyone wanting to see the sights in Rio; you will not be disappointed!
Camilla is outstanding and make your trip an amazing experience! Her services are top of the line. She is witty and a lot of fun.
Excellent private tour to see the sights, early start to miss the crowds but so worth it. Madj was great in organising everything especially when we had to switch plans last minute, nothing was problem. Carla our tour guide made the day extra special and the driver apologies I have forgot his name but a great team that made the tour run so smoothly. If in Rio make sure to book Gregtur Tourism .
A colleague/ friend organized the full day tour led by Camilla. She is wonderful, fluent in English, knows the history and local lores well, and has a positive, upbeat attitude. She changed itinerary in response to the rain, which helped to make our tour enjoyable. Thanks Camilla!
Our tour started at our hotel where we were met in the hotel lobby by Eduardo who shared our last name. We enjoyed hearing about the history of the points of interest. We hit all the top spots that we otherwise would have had to navigate ourselves. We wanted a carefree day and having someone to do the driving and ticket buying was great. Highly recommend Eduardo who was very personable and this tour company.
TL;DR - Highly recommend the private tour with Camila. We kicked off at 9:30 am, just as I'd requested. Camila was waiting for us in the lobby, and her warm energy set the tone for an unforgettable day. Here are some of the highlights that made this tour truly special: Ipanema Beach from a Local's Perspective Camila took us to a hidden spot with stunning views of Ipanema Beach. Her insider knowledge of Rio shone through as she navigated us through secret shortcuts and shared fascinating stories about the neighborhood. Sugarloaf: No Crowds, Just Breathtaking Views We arrived at Sugarloaf before the crowds, thanks to Camila's expert planning. She guided us through each stop, making sure we had plenty of time to take it all in at our own pace. And she knew exactly where to capture those Instagram-worthy shots! Christ the Redeemer: The Right Way to See It Camila recommended traveling by car to this iconic landmark, and I'm so glad we did! We avoided the packed train and enjoyed a comfortable, hassle-free experience. Escadaria Selarón: A Glimpse into Local Life Camila walked us through this vibrant neighborhood, introducing us to local artisans, crafts, and refreshing cocktails. With her by our side, we felt completely at ease, thanks to her obvious connections with the locals. We also explored the stunning Theater District, Catedral Metropolitana, Igreja de Nossa Senhora da Candelária, and more. By the end of this action-packed tour, I was ready for a well-deserved spa day – exhausted but exhilarated! In short, I wholeheartedly recommend Camila's private tour for an authentic Rio experience. Her passion, knowledge, and warm personality made all the difference. If you want to see the real Rio, look no further!
We had a fantastic day with Newton because of a surprise layover in Rio de Janeiro. We wanted to avoid the crowds so he took us to the forest and we finished the day on the beaches.
Excellent Time management to enjoy the most of Rio de Janeiro in a given a short time. Camila was extremely accommodating and sympathetic; with lots of tips and strong will to share her love for the “wonderful city” and the Brazilian culture.
My guide Fabio was very knowledgeable about the sites we visited, he took his time explaining, seen so much in one day. Would recommend highly.
Camila did a fantastic describing various sites and places of interest, commenting in depth on the history of the site but or Rio and Brazil generally, which was highly insightful. She also took us to neighborhoods that were truly local in nature. This tour is jam packed with sites of interest - Christ the Redeemer, Sugarloaf, the cathedral, the football stadium, the Olympic mural, the tile steps, and more. It was a fabulous day. Highly recommended.
Thanks to Leandro we did so many highlights in one day. He arranged everything for us and told us so much about Rio. It was a very nice day
Excellent, friendly, flexible and very efficient trip. Highly recommended tour in Rio de Janeiro. Many thanks to Luiz Flávio.
This was the best city tour with the best guide- Flavio. His knowledge of the city and its history was incredible, and he made it so interesting to learn about. It is 100% worth having a tour guide and driver to get you to each place, as they got us through the lines much quicker as well as being super informative about each place. We had a private tour so got to the Selaron steps early and we had the whole place to ourselves which was fantastic. We then went to Christ the Redeemer, then Sugarloaf mountain. I would recommend starting the day early to avoid the crowds, as when we were leaving Christ the Redeemer it got ridiculously busy. I would highly recommend booking with Gregtur tours- and request Flavio as your guide if you can.
Our tour guide, Antonio, was incredible! He customized our trip to make sure we got to all of our top sites we wanted to see, including Cristo, Sugarloaf, Ipanema, Cocoacabana, Celeron Steps and a quick photo op at the futbol stadium. He even brought us to an amazing Brazilian BBQ steakhouse (a little pricey). Ticket prices to Cristo and Sugarloaf are not included in the tour price, but a must see. It was really great that Antonio had a driver so we didn't have to waste time finding parking/ walking to the car. Everything was perfectly timed, and we got to see everything we hoped for in Rio during our 12 hour layover. He even picked us up from the airport and dropped us off on time for our flight to Sao Paulo. Book this tour!
We knew this tour from the suggestion of Grand Hyatt Hotel Sao Paulo. We are a group of 4 people that came for the conference in Sao Paulo and we have only one day keft to visit Rio De Janeiro. We cannot buy flight tickets as it is over our budget so the concierge suggested this company to us with a private tour plan. We are really happy with the coordinated guy, Osvaldo, who communicated with us for the suitable car and our agenda, the driver, Bruno, who was very polite, helpful and kind. Especially, our local guide, Camila, who is being such a great guide. We really enjoyed the way she brought the city’s past to life with her stories. We knew everything of Rio de Janeiro in 17 hrs 😁😁 Short couse but fruitful👏👏 Thank you for making our trip to Rio so much fun and safe 🙏😊 Recommend!!👍👍👍
Camila Feher was a great guide. Friendly, funny, knowledgable with a true love for her city. The best tour guide we ever had. Our group spoke Spanish and English and her mastery of those two languages was great. She also taught us some portugués. Marco the driver provided great service. Funny and entertaining - dropping us off in front of each sight and quickly picking us up once we were ready to move on. A day spent with Camila and Marco will be a treat for any group looking to take in all rio has to offer. We saw all the top sights and learned a lot. A truly enjoyable experience.
Our private tour with Camila could not have gone better! She changed the itinerary on the fly in response to the weather, which kept Christ the Redeemer in clouds much of the day but which we managed to visit during a break in the weather. Our family moves through things pretty fast, so after having seen the main sights set out in the published itinerary, rather than end early as is often the case on private tours we visited a number of additional spots which gave us a fuller picture of Rio. She was informative and friendly throughout, even early in the morning when we were pretty groggy and unresponsive. Our driver did a great job as well! Booking was easy and we were able to communicate with the office and our guide seamlessly leading up to the tour.
We had a super nice day with camila and flavio. We learned many things about rio in a short time, ate local food, talked culture and saw a lot in only one day! Carioca Camila was very flexible and knowledgeable and deals elegantly with obstacles (like unexpected traffic and road checks) and Flavio's driving got us around safely and happily :) we will be back for more!!
Excellent tour if you don’t have a lot of time in Rio. Tour guide Sergio was amazing. Very knowledgeable and was very considerate of the time we had to get to airport. Our driver William was great and we had just enough time at each spot. Highly teccomend this way to travel. Large groups are not for me anymore.
Sergio was a very knowledgeable tour guide. He cared about our experience and made sure we could see all we wanted and kept track of time to make our flight. Our driver was excellent as well. I would highly recommend this tour and appreciate the care taken by Sergio to make this a great experience in Rio.
Leandro was a fantastic tour guide. He arrived early at our cruise ship. He and our driver did a great job, navigating through the city, showing us all the fantastic and indescribably beautiful sites in the city of Rio de Janeiro. Christ, the redeemer, and Sugarloaf were two of the highlights, but we also went to other beautiful areas such as Santa Teresa steps. The library and cathedral were also must see’s. We had it 9 PM flight back to the United States and Leandro tailored our itinerary to make sure we saw Sugarloaf at sunset and still get to the GIG airport in plenty of time. It was really fantastic.
This is amazing, my driver and my tour guide are both so nice, so friendly so patient, they showed me around, introduced local food and drinks. Took pics for me and the car is so clean. I like it, I recommend you guys try this. Sam from Los Angeles, again thank you my tour guide Camila.
We enjoyed a full-day private tour and several private pickup and dropoff rides during our time in Rio de Janeiro. Everything was exceptional and made our trip even better than expected
Most important is your guide and the very best is Camila! Rio is her home town and she knows It well. All the vendors know her and gave us free samples. She knows the history and she gave my husband a tour of Maracana soccer stadium he will remember for years to come. We had a late flight after a cruise and this was a great way to spend the day before going to the airport. I recommend this tour and Camila highly.
This tour will take you to all the important and touristy spots in Rio, but most importantly our guide Camila took us to some really beautiful and unique destinations that we would have never thought of going. She also added a lot of interesting commentary about the history of the city. Our driver Junior was excellent, kept us safe and in time to visit all the different places around town. I would not hesitate to book this tour again.
Camila is amazing! Best kept secret in Rio! Whether it’s your first time or 40th in the city, highly recommend you see this beautiful city with her. She knows so much and is incredibly efficient with shuttling you in between the highlights.
Where do I begin? Let me start off by saying that we travel often and have been on many tours around the world is this was a stand out! Both our guide camila, and Our driver Paolo were fantastic. We had one full day to spend in rio and camila was able to organize a perfect and super full day with everything we could park in. She was knowledgeable and efficient and so worldly. She speaks many languages and has experience with guests and group types from all over the world. We were able to see top attractions and some nice off the beaten path places and experiences. I don’t know how I could find a way to recommend this company more. If you’re browsing options I hope this helps makes your choice! If ever in rio again we will certainly reach out and schedule additional tours! Thank you Muito obrigato
