Great view, but the service falls short of a 4-star experience Our experience at Orla Copacabana was quite mixed and, overall, below what I would expect from a hotel positioning itself as a 4-star property. We arrived at around 10:50 PM, and unfortunately the first impression was not a good one. The welcome at check-in was cold and rather condescending. We were told that at that time there was not much open nearby and that neither the lobby bar nor room service was available. I later received clarification from a member of the hotel staff via WhatsApp, who explained that since the pandemic, the lobby bar and room service have only operated until 7 PM. For context, we are now in August 2026 — the pandemic was five years ago. I find it quite surprising that it is still being used to explain why basic services at a 4-star hotel in one of Rio’s main tourist areas stop so early. Our request for a room on a high floor was respected, which we appreciated — and it turned out to be particularly useful considering the construction work currently taking place around the hotel. Earplugs are actually provided in the room, which, in my opinion, says quite a lot about the potential noise situation. Another important point: there is no heating in the room. The air-conditioning system is cooling only and is not reversible, so it cannot be used to warm the room. When I raised the issue with the hotel, the solution offered was simply to provide me with an extra blanket. Considering the temperatures during our stay, this was not particularly comfortable and, again, rather surprising for a hotel of this category. Despite being on a high floor, we also had mosquitoes in the room, which added another inconvenience to the stay. The hotel’s digital services are another weak point. The WhatsApp reception service is essentially an automated chatbot and is not particularly helpful. There is also a QR code above the minibar that is supposed to provide hotel information and recommendations, but much of the useful content seems to be missing. And after two days at the hotel, I still haven’t been able to access the menu of the Eclipse restaurant. This restaurant is apparently offered as an alternative to the hotel’s unavailable room service and delivers directly to the hotel, yet neither the QR code nor the WhatsApp service has allowed me to actually find the menu. Payment also has to be made directly to the restaurant’s delivery person, with no clear information about whether international credit cards are accepted. The whole system feels surprisingly poorly adapted to international guests, especially considering that it is supposed to compensate for the absence of room service after 7 PM. There are, however, some genuinely positive points. The gym is clean and well maintained, and there is also a sauna. The rooftop pool offers a spectacular view over Copacabana, and this is clearly one of the hotel’s greatest assets — and, ultimately, a significant part of what you are paying for. Breakfast is generous, and the staff there are noticeably more welcoming and attentive. Employees regularly come around offering coffee, tea and fruit juice, which is a nice touch. However, a cappuccino costs extra. Likewise, even a bottle of still water in the room is chargeable. Individually, these may seem like small details, but when combined with the limited evening services, the lack of heating, the ineffective digital information and the overall experience, they don’t really correspond to what I would expect from a hotel advertising itself as a 4-star property. Overall, the location and rooftop view are excellent, and breakfast is good, but the quality of the welcome, the limited services, the room comfort and the attention to detail fall short of the standard I expected. The hotel has strong assets, but the experience relies far too heavily on its location and view rather than on the level of hospitality and service that should come with a 4-star hotel.

Excellent location, good service, and a very good breakfast. Avoid rooms facing the back street, as there is severe noise from a major construction site. It took some effort to get them to change our room.
Great place with good service. They let us check into our room early without us even asking. The rooms were clean, and it was amazing being open to our window and hear the ocean breeze. I would definitely stay again.
As a solo traveler who has stayed in hostels and 5 star hotels and has been happy at either, take my review in that context. It’s all about what you want for that trip. Orla fit my needs almost perfectly. The breakfast was solid and started at 6-630 (great when you have early activities booked). The room was great for one person. Hot shower, great water pressure. AC worked great. Comfy bed. The rooftop is nice, though small. The gym needs a lot of help… the machines are very old and limited. For me, the 5th star came because of the service and the transit room. I had a late flight the day of my check out, and the front desk made it easy to arrange use of the transit room (for a very low cost) to shower after my final day activities (hiking Pedra da Gavea, so you know I needed the shower!) This convenience was a huge plus for me. Also luggage storage at the hotel was seamless and convenient. The staff spoke several languages. Overall, if you have high expectations of for a hotel experience, you might not be happy, but if you value convenience and service, Orla is a great choice
Very well located hotel - easy to get to both Copacabana and Ipanema beaches! The hotel itself offered a very good breakfast and staff were very helpful indeed - printing out a ticket for us on request. Rooms were well equipped. The only downside to the great location was it was noisy one night but the noise came from outside hotel - to be expected given the prime location. Would stay again if returned to Rio 😎👍🏻
