We liked the tour! It was only the two of us so we got full attention from the guide. She was very knowledgeable about Riga and its history.

Itinerary
My name is Riga. I was born more than eight centuries ago at the Daugava River and since then I have become much more beautiful and attractive. My father was Bishop Albert of Livonia and I was happy with it, but then came a lot of foreigners, who wanted to conquer my heart. However, I managed to stay strong and proud. Listen to my name again – Ri-ga. It sounds like music, like a promise, like a secret. Come and discover it!

Great walking tour of Riga! The guide was friendly, engaging, and shared lots of interesting information about the city. I learned a lot and really enjoyed the experience!
This the first time booking such tours with TripAdvisor and can’t be easier than this even though we made last minute booking. Our guide is really a professional very thorough in explaining about Riga’s history and its historic structures for full duration of the tour. The tour office & meeting place is also right at the old town square and we have plenty of opportunities to take photos of countries historic buildings of Riga. No wonder it’s a UNESCO heritage listed. We will be coming Riga again
Excellent.,,well worth undertaking . Tour guide was very informative and knowledgeable.
Good tour and informative. Our guide had modest English skills and felt like she was working to a script and schedule. But, she did know where every old city wall ever existed and so there's that... But for me, when someone works to a script, it's like reading a Wikipedia page instead of having a dialogue about the history and culture of the city.
Despite the cool and rainy weather, we thoroughly enjoyed this walking tour. Very knowledgeable and professional guide who knew a few places to get out of the weather.
Tatjana was a great teacher of the architecture and history of Riga! We had a very nice time with our small group and would highly recommend this tour!
The private tour of Riga was awesome. I would definitely recommend it. Out tourguide Gunta was very knowledgeable.
The guide, Imara, was very knowledgeable and offered a lot of information about the history, language and sites of Riga. As we were the only people on this particular tour she geared the walk to our pace and interests. Many sites in the old town were covered with interesting stories. Imara also suggested a concert in the cathedral which was excellent. Highly recommend this tour.
What a wonderful city to explore and Inara was the best person to help us explore it. So many hidden things amongst the buildings and streets. Riga is an ancient city with warm and friendly people.
Very informative walking tour. Our guide was very knowledgeable on Lativa during both NAZI Germany and Russian rule.
Out guide was absolutely phenomenal!! Was so interesting. I was utterly captivated by everything she said. By far the best guided walking tour I have ever done in my life!!! Told some personal stories too and you could tell everyone in our group was spellbound…. Only negative was actually trying to find exactly where we were to meet our guide in the town hall square. We nearly gave up as couldn’t see any umbrella or canapé……
A little difficult finding the meeting point. The yellow umbrella was not opened. Very informative guide that walked at a comfortable pace
We took a 2 hour private walking tour of Riga with a knowledgeable guide. It was at a pace that was easy and the guide was very open to our many questions. The walking tour helped us identity places that we wanted to go back and explore in detail (eg; the Riga Cathedral). Totally worth the reasonable per head cost
We had a wonderful tour with Inar. Very knowledgeable with a lot of interesting and fascinating detail
Great tour. Love Riga! Very beautiful. Be sure to wear good shoes- tons of cobblestone walkways. Guide was great, knowledgeable and friendly.
A lot of uneven cobblestone roads and it was very warm No bathroom stops Guide was very knowledgeable
Excellent tour with Tatiana! She was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly and very witty! She kept the pace up and made sure the whole tour was filled with interesting and enjoyable sights. Highly recommended!! Thank you very much Tatiana!
Tatiana was very knowledgeable and a great guide
Wear good walking shoes. Lots of cobblestone. Very informative. Guide was very good, just had a bit of problem with hearing apparatus.
Excellent historical overview of the city. The pace was good and we learned a lot. Although I had trouble with the headset initially, it was swapped out and then worked fine. Two others had trouble with the headsets as well. I would definitely recommend this walking tour as a nice way to learn about Riga. There was non-stop flow of information.
Nice pace and great explanations
Ideal to get to know more about the city that could easily go unnoticed, this 90-min tour is full of interesting facts. It was nicely paced and our guide, Gunta was informative and entertaining!
We were looking for a smaller group walking tour and this one was perfect. Turned out to be only 3 of us, guided by Gunta, who was excellent. She took time to explain the history and and provided the color and experience that only a native could. Riga is a beautiful city with a picturesque old town. Sure you could walk around and see the sites … but you only get the background and insights from a guide like Gunta. Thanks for a great tour!
Very informative guide and route took in all the best sites. Even went in to some museums and a church. Would just note in the info on meeting location to say " look for yellow umbrella" for ease of location. Thank you.
Such an incredible city full of so much history and the tour guide had plenty to tell us, and show us. Very informative and interesting
Very detailed content from a very knowledgeable guide. Even in temperatures of -9 degrees, she kept our party engaged for almost 2 hours.
Very Informative tour and well paced. We were the only people on the tour as it was so cold. We learned a lot over the 90 minutes and came away with a lot of useful successions. We worth it!
Great guide, offered personal experiences and great perspectives and stories. The weather was very cold and she did a nice job of making stops along the way to warm us up!
Fabulous tour with a knowledgeable guide. She packed in so much information in the 1.5hrs, I learnt so much about the old town, the buildings, the changes over the years, the stories associated with the statues & the old town wall too.
The guide never came, neither were we ever informed about cancellation. Its a pity, wasted our precious time.
Brilliant walking tour. Our guide was knowledgeable, friendly, and explained the history behind Riga’s most significant buildings really well. The hidden gems she showed us were a lovely bonus too. Highly recommend.
Excellent walking tour ,definitely a must do whilst in Riga. Our guide was very friendly and we learnt so much about the country .
Very nice tour! The guide was very knowledgeable and had so much to share. This should be a 2h tour.
Good tour. Well arranged and with earphones on you could hear everything. Good start to our few days here
Great knowledge and history of the City. Good route which covered all the key areas, buildings of the old town. Well organised.
Our guide, Tatiana, was very knowledgeable about the history of Riga. She took us on a walk around the town and it felt like an easy conversation rather than a lecture. Pointing out lots of quirky features, and the reasons behind them, on buildings and even the cobblestones. At the end of the tour she asked us what we were planning next and walked us towards that area before saying goodbye. I would definitely recommend a walking tour to expand your understanding of the town and see interesting things you would normally pass by.
An interesting walking tour round Riga, understanding the history and where to visit, walking down small roads we would not have discovered ourselves
We can highly recommend this informative tour. Just the right length & walking pace. Lovely native guide who spoke excellent English.
Great place would definitely recommend the walking your the guide was brillant. There is loads to see and do. Plenty of history
The walking tour was very informative and interesting as the guide was very knowledgeable. The old part of Riga is easy to navigate and the main attractions are within close proximity to each other. The communication for the booking was very clear.
Excellent tour guide. Very knowledgeable, learnt a lot. Would definitely recommend to family and friends on our next visit
Nice time with tour guide. excellent insights. Historical input was very important. Easy to follow. Easy to find location.
Wonderful tour filled with Riga’s rich history. Easy walking with lots of small details that add to the charm of Riga!
Inara was amazing! Humourous with lots of tales and stories to share! She’s a very open and educated lady that is very proud of her culture. Amazing walking despite the rain and I enjoyed my time with her very much!
Our guide was knowledgeable and excellent. She provided many good glimpses and insights into Riga’s rich history, architecture and culture - and did it in an honest, interesting manner.
We came to Riga from NCL cruise ship in September, while looking for interesting spots by ourselves in the interwinding streets of the Old Town, we were extremely lucky to have met an English tour group lead by an enthusiastic tour guide, Azace Zane. Her knowledgeable, intimate and humorous explanation of the Latvia culture, social relationships and characters in both history and today attracted us very much so we decided to follow her through the later walking tour, although we didn’t sign into her tour and not even know of her name yet! In the following miles walking with her, she was very kind and never excluded us. She showed us many interesting places of Riga, like the beautiful White House Opera House, the magnificent Dome, Riga Cathedral, St Peter’s Church, the splendid Blackhead building, and the peculiar Three Brothers structures. At the parliament she also openly talked a little bit about current issues involving the social conflicts in Latvia. The most impressive is she couldn’t hide her high pride of the freedom-loving spirit of the Latvia people when she took the group to the magnificent Freedom Monument. She pointed out to us the blooming blue and yellow flowers in the city garden, because that symbolizes the solidarity between Latvia and Ukraine during the current war. She didn’t forget to tell us about those blue tags on electric cars which allow them to free park on city streets, while non-eV cars have to pay 5 Euros per hour for parking! That’s pretty progressive! Overall, walking with Azace Zane in Riga has been an unforgettable experience for us!
lovely short tour through Riga, what is now one of my favorite cities in europe. the old town is exceptional. walk through its old streets and buildings and enjoy the beauty of riga.
A great way to get the feel of Riga and understand its history and politics. From the early formation of Latvia via its occupations, two world wars and its acceptance as part of the EU and NATO. The guide explained the architecture and culture very well. An excellent start to our city break.
Comprehensive walking tour for almost 75 minutes. Great commentary. Older woman tour guide was a bit rough around the edges in at the start but warmed up. Worth the money.
