About Activity
Embark on this 6-hour captivating journey starting from your Riga hotel with a private guide and driver. After an approximately one-hour drive, you'll find yourself amidst the expansive beauty of Gauja National Park, the largest national park in Latvia, situated in the enchanting "Vidzemes Sveice" or Livonian Switzerland. This park boasts a harmonious blend of picturesque hills, the meandering Gauja River valley, medieval castles, and unique flora and fauna, some of which have vanished in many other parts of Europe. Begin your exploration in Sigulda, a town with a rich history dating back to the 12th century when the German Order erected a grand castle. The tour then takes you to the opposite side of the river, where you'll visit the expansive red sandstone Gutman Cave. Ascend the hill to explore the Turaida Castle ruins, inaugurated by Bishop Albert of Riga in 1214. Concluding the tour, return to Riga with a wealth of memories from Gauja National Park's natural splendor and historical treasures.
