We had a great time exploring the bog with Roland! As a biologist, he knows an incredible amount about the local nature and wildlife, but he also shared lots of interesting stories about Latvian history and culture. He was friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about what he does. A really enjoyable experience, highly recommended!
What an exceptional day! The tour to Ķemeri National Park and Jūrmala far exceeded my expectations. The absolute highlight was Rolands. Who would have imagined that a hike through the Ķemeri bog would be led by a biologist? His knowledge of the wetlands, plants, wildlife, and ecosystem transformed what could have been just a beautiful walk into a fascinating learning experience. Beyond his expertise, Rolands was fantastic company, friendly, engaging, and incredibly flexible. It felt less like a standard tour and more like exploring with a passionate friend who genuinely loves sharing his knowledge. If you're looking for more than just sightseeing, this is the tour to book. Beautiful landscapes, excellent organization, and a guide who makes the experience truly unforgettable. Highly recommended!
Rolands was the perfect person to guide us in this interesting and special place, very knowledgeable, friendly, and easy to spend time with. His passion for nature and conservation really shone through. Also it was nice to have a tour that didn't take the full day for a change, too. Rolands was great with ideas and suggestions for our visit to Latvia in general as well. We learned a lot and had a fun time doing it!
Rolands, special guide! Funny, chatting, competent and skilled Biologist and al last but not least, undestanding like few others. He taught me a lot during the wonderful tour of the bog, explaining in simple and concise words. Absolutely recommended!
Really great tour, our guide Rolands was fantastic. Very friendly, and knowledgable about the natural world. Highly recommended
Rolands was an excellent and very knowledgeable guide. A really informative and interesting tour of the national park and Jurmala. Thoroughly recommended to anyone visiting Riga.
We only had a short day in Riga from our cruise. Rolands helped us make the best of it with a fun hike through the incredible Kemeri Great Bog. We got a bonus side trip in a swamp area which was very different from the big. The visit to Jurmala surprised us with an amazing beach. We managed to squeeze in a brief visit to old town Riga before we had to leave. Rolands is an excellent representative of Latvia. He was kind, patient and professional. We learned so much and will be glad to return one day to take more tours!
We really enjoyed this excursion. Our tour guide Rolands was very friendly and informative. We were picked up from our hotel at 9am and returned at 2pm. In total we were 4 people, us plus another couple. The guided walk on the boardwalk around Kermeri Bog was spectacular! We were also lucky enough to see some wildlife including a Stork, Crane and Lizard! After we finished the 4km walk Rolands offered us some traditional Latvian sweets and tea. We were pleased we opted to do the Jurmala extension where Rolands drove us through the town pointing out things to see before we made a short stop at a viewpoint overlooking Jurmala and then on the beautiful sandy beach to see the Gulf of Riga. Rolands gave us the option to stay on in Jurmala and make our own way back if we wanted, but we were happy to travel back with him as we had other things planned. Throughout the tour Rolands gave us all the relative information about what we needed to see and know and also gave some general information about Latvia. He was happy to take photos of us during the trip and shared with us on WhatsApp afterwards. There were basic toilet facilities at the National Park and beach. But bring your own bottle of water and wear comfy outdoor walking clothes (walking boots not required, trainers are fine). We would thoroughly recommend this trip to anyone wanting to see more of Latvia beyond Riga.

Great experience! Rolands was very knowledgable and we felt comfortable asking lots of questions. Kemeri and Jurmala were beautiful places, definitely worth having a guide who knows all about them!
During our stay in Riga, we decided to explore the surrounding areas, and our journey through the Kemeri National Park, followed by a visit to Jurmala Beach, was truly enchanting—both educational and unforgettable. The experience was elevated by our guide, Rolands, whose warmth, reliability, and deep knowledge of the park's natural wonders and Latvia’s rich history made the day even more special. We wholeheartedly recommend this tour and, without a doubt, would take it again in a heartbeat!
Latvia was such a surprise to us! Beautiful country with amazing national forests. In particular, the Kemeri Great Bog is an experience not to be missed! Certainly one of the most unique places in the world you can visit. Our tour was made even more memorable by our tour guide, Rolands. He shared alot of interesting facts and made the entire day out very fun. The stars aligned for us because we were so lucky to have had the entire park to ourselves when we were there. Highly recommended! 5 out of 5.
Excellent trip out to nature from Riga with a very professional and personable guide Rolands. Pick up direct from hotel with only around 45 minute drive to the wetlands area which was a real delight of tranquility and a unique ecosystem. Rolands has considerable techinal knowledge of the wetlands and its preservation to enhance the trip experience. The beach at Jurmala was also a revelation of an expansive stretch of pristine and unspoilt coastline and beach. Tour and Rolands, highly recommended.
Fantastic half day tour! Roland was a brilliant guide-energetic, knowledgeable, and personable. This is a fairly easy walk (even older folks could probably handle it without much issue, but the trail is not wheelchair accessible.) Be sure to wear the right shoes and you'll have a brilliant time away from the city!
Fantastic morning spent visiting the Kemeri raised bog. A great way to spend a few hours outside of the city. Our guide Rolands was very friendly and extremely knowledgeable. He explained everything we wanted to know as we walked through the bog and took lots of great photos for us (which he sent immediately after the trip). He also provided some nice refreshments at the end of the walk. Would highly recommend the trip and Rolands as a guide!!
The tour was excellent. Rolands, the guide, was very knowledgeable and nice. I greatly appreciated that the tour was organised even on Christmas day, allowing me to make best use of my time as a tourist in Riga. The bog had very vivid colours even if it is late December.
I had a thoroughly enjoyable day learning about the fascinating ecosystem of the Kemeri Boglands. There was an easy walk along the wooden boardwalks, which allowed one to inspect close up the plant life and the impact of water on the environment. I was struck by the beauty of this unique place. Rolands, my guide, was personable and knowledgeable about all things Latvian and he was able to answer questions on a broad range of topics. The optional trip to Jermala beach is also highly recommended.
A wonderful day out - a unique experience and Rolands was such a fabulous guide. He provided so much interesting information about the places that we went to and so much more about Latvia in general and gave recommendations. We wished we were staying longer to explore more of the countryside outside Riga. Kemeri was so peaceful and beautiful even without any sun - a gentle boardwalk hike around a fascinating place. Great view from the towers. Rolands took lots of photos for us - great to have those memories and he provided some sweets and sweet herbal tea. A genuinely lovely person who made the day and knew a lot about a lot and was fluent in English. We learnt so much. I would wholeheartedly recommend. Loved it!
A beautiful spot to explore close to Riga. I've never been to a bog before and having the chance to go to one as large and beautiful as this was a real treat,
amazing trip with Rolands. He is a great tourguide and very fun as well! It was such a great day. We really enjoyed it and highly recommend to book his tours. We really learned a lot during our tour today and also got to taste some Latvian sweets which Rolands brought us. And he‘s a great photographer as well. That‘s nice because we not often have photos of the two of us.
Very convenient tour. The walk through the bog was just great. Our guide Rolands is a bog pro and knows everything about it. He gave us very detailed information and we had a lot of fun as well. Bog walk took about 2 hours. Highly recommend!!!!
From the first minute Rolands created a warm community feeling, was open to any question we had and included everyone well in the group. We learned a lot about the Boglands and Latvian culture, laughed a lot and realized what special place Latvia has here. We were a bit hesitant if should do a guided tour or go on our own but we definitely would do it again like this. Best wishes to Rolands, Niels and Faleena (Germany/Switzerland)
Excellent trip where everything incl. communication and pickup from hotel worked perfectly. Rolands Made the visit to Kemeri Bog both fun and informative. He provided lot of information both on the nature but also other questions regarding Latvia. He was also so Nice that he brought Tea and delicious Sweets. We was lucky to view the most amazing sunrise in the bog, absolutely stunning. Can only highly recommend this tour. They do the trip Even with only one participant, so great opportunity to see some of Latvias beautyful nature if you are travelling solo without a car.
We had an amazing tour through the Bog with Rolands. He was super friendly and made our trip interesting and fun. The nature and ecosystems are incredibly interesting and unique and we can only recommend taking this tour and learning about the background of this unique place.
Rolands was an amazing guide for this private tour and immediately welcomed us with a very friendly nature. We walked through the amazing ecosystems and it was like chatting with a friend about nature. Can very much recommend!
Rolands took us around the Kemeri big and showed us it's splendor. He was very knowledgeable and extremely engaging while teaching us about the bog and it's surroundings. We learned about the big, the big woodlands, transition areas, and the nearby swamps. We never knew so much diversity existed is so close proximity, let alone mere minutes from central Riga! If we return to Latvia, we will certainly try the longer Bog Shoe Tours! We cannot recommend this tour enough! If we had more time we would have taken up his offer to spend the rest of the afternoon on Jūrmala's silky soft, WIDE beach. Thank you Rolands!!
Roland’s was a very accommodating tour guide. He adapted to us and we were able to make the day a little more flexible. Rolands told us a lot about Kemeri Moor and the nature of Latvia. In addition, he also gave us a little training in the Latvian language, which was also very amusing and interesting. Roland also took a lot of photos of our experience, which was very nice to see. We had a great day with Rolands and can only recommend a tour with him.
The guide was amazing because knowing in many areas so exciting and enthusiastic story. Answers to all questions and excellent pace. The landscapes are worthy of another planet and wonderful. You will have a great time so this is an excursion that I highly recommend.
Beautiful experience in the middle of nature! The ecosystem that characterizes this swamp is extraordinary! We chose to see the sunrise. Rolands, our guide, picked us up at 4 a.m. We arrived that the forest was shrouded in fog, a surreal landscape! We walked for about 2 km on the wooden walkway, to get to the tower from which we waited for the sunrise. Rolands is very prepared and made the day special with his sympathy. The route is a loop and you travel about 4 km, suitable for everyone. Afterwards we went to visit the resort of Jurmala and saw the long beach washed by the Baltic Sea. At 8:30 we were back in Riga. I absolutely recommend this experience, there were two of us and it was like hiking with an old friend!
We had a great day. Our guide Rolands was happy, committed and knowledgeable. Very good at the English language and was patient with all our questions😅. Highly recommend to take an excursion here if you are in Riga. Five stars ⭐️
