It was a great trip with Rolands, he picked us up in Riga. We saw many different areas, forests, lakes, river fooding and the great Baltic beach. His background is amazing, he was explaining everything. During the day we also have had a great picnic, made by his wife. Thank you again for this!!!

It was a great experience, and Roland is the best guide for this.
We had a great day with our tour guide Rolands, whose great knowledge about the park, its different ecosystems and nature and species in general made this trip absolutely worthwhile. He showed us four different spots in the park - the bog, the wetlands, the lagoon and the sea - and explained the differences in a way that was easy to understand for people who are not conservation biologists like him. The cream on the cake was his knowledge about his country, its history and his openness to engage in virtually any topic. Highly recommended.
Had a lot of fun on our day out with our guide Rolands. He was full of knowledge and really accommodating. He also took great pictures of us at each place we visited. Would greatly recommend !
A huge thank you to Rolands, our knowledgeable, professional and witty guide. We appreciated his deep local and academic knowledge of his beautiful countryside. His personal perspective on conservation, history and culture made us really fall in love with Latvia. Exploring the nature after days in the city Riga helped us understand Latvians.
We had an amazing experience exploring Kemeri National Park. Our guide, Rolands, was fantastic: friendly, knowledgeable, and shared interesting information about the different ecosystems we visited. We also had enjoyable conversations about Latvia and life in general. The scenery in the park was beautiful, especially the bog area, which had a unique, almost otherworldly atmosphere. We were able to see all three types of wetlands as well as the Baltic Sea shoreline. The picnic lunch that Rolands prepared was delicious and included a nice selection of local food and drinks. Overall, I highly recommend the “Best of Kemeri National Park in One Day” tour to anyone interested in nature and learning more about Latvia.
Rolands was an absolute delight and an exceptional guide! Really enjoyed the whole experience and seeing the nature aspects of Latvia! This is a great 1/2 day adventure to round out a visit to Riga!
We had an amazing day together with Rolands. He picked us up right on schedule, and in the car his enthusiasm for the tour was immediately apparent! He told us all about the day, about what we could expect. The tour exceeded all our expectations, it was truly beautiful. Rolands was very informative, told us all about the area, the history, the nature. Not only did we enjoy the hiking and breathing in the fresh air, we also learned some very interesting things! Rolands was very friendly and talkative and we could ask all the questions we want, even about the Latvian language and traditions. He was also very helpful, when my wife had trouble with some paths, he helped her. Even when she stubbed her toe, it didn't take any joy out of the day. We had so much fun and laughed a lot. The lunch was also very well prepared and very delicious. Rolands thought of everything, took many lovely pictures, we couldn't have asked for a better guide, paldies Rolands!
Unbelievable that these nature wonderlands are only 40 min from riga. Our guide Rolands was really outgoing and thought us so much about the nature and flora of the national park. The best daytrip we could’ve Imagined. Thanks for the time Rolands and see you next time.
One of the most beautiful parks that I've seen in the world; and I'm not easily impressed. An absolute must do for nature lovers.
We really enjoyed the tour with Roland. We really had a great time at the nationalpark and in Jurmala. Roland is a super nice and pleasant person. It was fun and we learned a lot!
The experience we had was top-notch! Super thanks to Rolands for everything we got to see and learn about. What a passionate person about the natural beauty of Latvia. Would definitely book again when back in Latvia.
Wow this was an amazing trip. Our guide Rolands and his assistant Dita were great fun and very informative. The walk through the bog was a challenge as it was very icy on the planks but we managed to stay upright! We enjoyed a very nice Latvian lunch of snacks which was delicious sat by the lake. Great views through the forest of the beach too. Highly recommend this trip.
We were in Latvia for 10 days, and this was our favourite day. A stunning private tour of three very distinct environments in Kemeri National Park. Roland was an excellent local tour guide: highly knowledgeable (the man has two degrees) and friendly, bringing lots of personal touches to the day… including his wife’s cooking! We had an amazing time on this adventure and would recommend to anyone.
We had a fantastic day and learnt so much about the raised bog, floodplain forest, Lake Kanieris and the Gulf of Riga. Roland was the perfect guide with his great knowledge of nature, conservation and Latvia, as well as being enthusiastic and fun. It was an extremely hot day and Roland made sure we were coping ok with the heat and regularly offered us water to top up our water bottles. A few of the birds we saw included a Bittern, Great White Egret, and Marsh Harriers as well as plenty of different flora in the different habitats we visited. The Latvian picnic lunch was amazing. Traditional Latvian food and drink. Roland catered well for all the group, and as vegetarians we were not disappointed with the lunch he provided. We were in a small group of 7 and Roland took plenty of photos which he sent to us later that day. A truly amazing and enjoyable experience! If we return to Latvia, we will certainly take another tour with Roland.
We highly recommend choosing green adventures outside Riga. We have seen hidden places we would not have if we were on our own. Our guide shared with us beautiful hikes and interesting facts about living in Latvia, and we even tasted local food and drinks. He surprised us with an alternative gluten-free bread for one of our friends. He was very professional in his guidance, always making sure we were having fun.
An unforgettable journey into nature! Our guide not only led us through stunning scenery but also shared fascinating insights about the area. The local food provided was a delicious insight into the local food scenery, adding an authentic touch to the experience. Plus, the guide's wealth of knowledge truly enriched the trip, and his dedication to capturing moments with countless photos ensured we have lasting memories. Five stars for an adventure filled with beauty, flavor, and enlightenment!
Was picked from my accommodation by my amazing guide Rolands who is a very nice guy and astonishingly knowledgeable as regards the ecosystem there. We walked through a part of the bog. The trail is not particularly hard as the wooden planks are well maintained. Halfway I was treated with local snacks and drinks. Then we proceeded to the Baltic coast where we had a very nice walk along the seaside.
What a completely brilliant day, from start to finish, we had with Roland exploring Kemeri National Park. Right from the outset Roland was brilliantly informative and knowledgable. We were picked up from our hotel in Riga which made for a nice and easy start to the day. On journey to the first site, The Bog, Roland was wonderfully enthusiastic and insightful about Latvian nature and culture. The Bog was awesome. What a great experience to be able to walk across part of the bog via the boardwalks and to hear about the formation of the bog, the conservation and the plant species throughout the seasons. Hearing the noisy cranes in the background was an added bonus (hope we see them next time). We then headed on to the Lagoon. What a treat to hear the booming Bitterns as we explored the lagoon and heard about the bird life and conservation. The floating walkway over the lagoon was great fun. My favourite lunch of our visit to Latvia was on this trip, where Roland shared traditional Latvian picnic food. I am pleased to have ticked the cottage cheese sweet off my to try list. It was strange but good. We then headed to the Gulf of Riga. What an amazing surprise. I had not imagined such a beautiful coastline with pristine white sands, a calm blue sea and the backdrop of a mossy pine forest. Pure magic. I am so glad that we took this trip and got to see a small part of Latvia’s countryside. It has given us to the taste to want to return and explore more. What really made this trip special was the wonderful knowledge of Roland, his great enthusiasm for Latvia’s nature and culture and his easy going and very good humoured approach. Latvia is truly a hidden gem with so much more to explore than Riga. Thank you Roland for a fab introduction to your beautiful country. We will be back!
This year my parents and I took a nine-tour of the three Baltic countries and our private tour with Rolands from i-Da Adventures was the highlight of our trip! We toured the beautiful wetlands of Kemeri National Park and walked along the pristine Gulf of Riga in Jūrmala. Rolands is a trained biologist and conservationist and his detailed descriptions of this fragile ecosystem enriched our experience. Before our last stop on the tour, we were treated to a picnic with hand-picked local Latvian ingredients (and a dark beer for my Dad ;-) After the tour, Rolands sent us 50+ beautiful photos that he took us. Don't miss this tour if you plan to be in Latvia!
Vwry nice place to have a walk, but the view do not change, so do not worth walking longer distance, also one minus because of bad smell from the toilets, if they take money for parking (do not forget to have cash!g they should also look around the track. Walking area is a bit broken, so you also spend lots of time while looking down to stay safe. Do not offer to go with little kids and strollers
Roland was fantastic. He is energetic, enthusiastic, funny, and smart. He can tell you the science regarding the different ecosystems we explored, and can also tell you personal stories and folklore. He loves doing what he is doing and he clearly loves the Latvian outdoors. We had a spectacular day, swam in the Baltic, and ate local Latvian treats. Getting local knowledge like this is the best part of travel for us. The day just flew by. This was easily the highlight of our trip.
We met Ronald this morning for our day trip to Kemeri national park sharp on time. Wonderful person always full of enthusiasm and pleasant and extremely knowledgeable not only in his field, but overall knowledge. Most enjoyable part for myself and my wife was lovely authentic food we all had. He took care of the food detail making sure it is fresh. If you are lucky to go out with him, i guarantee that you will not regret it. The tour was wonderful not only for his knowledge but of his personality also. Good luck Ronald and I would like to mention that your chicken was excellent with rye bread.
Rolands is an excellent, knowledgeable and entertaining guide. We learned a lot, visiting the highlights of Ķemeri National Park: the bog boardwalk, black alder swamp forest, Kaņieris lake (fens) and then the long, sweeping beach at Slow Mile, fringed with rare pine-wooded dune habitat. Rolands provided an excelkent lunch of local Latvian snacks: black bread, cream-cheese, kvass and smoked chicken.
If you are a nature lover, Best of Kemeri National Park in One Day is a MUST for your visit to Latvia. Within one national park, we saw four uniquely beautiful ecosystems, including bog, fen, and coast. Rollands was the consummate guide--he was funny, knowledgeable, and served up one heck of a lunch spread! My husband and I both agreed that this was a highlight of our trip to Riga. Strongly recommend.
Our guide Roland made this a very special day for us. As a biologist he knows a lot about nature and we also learned a lot about the Latvian people and their history. We spent many hours together and Roland was a very nice and friendly person to hang out with. We had good conversations and a great time. We met at a hotel in Riga and Roland took us around in his car. He also took a lot of fotos of us. The trip took us to four different biotopes, all of which were absolutely beautiful and interresting. A must see as a tourist. We had a lot of time to enjoy the view and take pictures. The trip ended in the late afternoon at the beach in Jurmala, which is a nice place to take a walk or swim when the weather is right. Roland brought some local snacks and drinks for lunch and we had a chance to taste a bit of Latvias food-culture as well. If you're going to Riga this trip should definetly be on your list as it is a very unique and authentic experience.
Great experience. Tour guide was excellent gave us lots of information and also brought typical Latvian food to try
My husband and I enjoyed our trip with Rolands. He was an expert on environmental issues and shared his knowledge and enthusisiam. with us. We enjoyed the diversity of the tour taking in bog, lake, forest and beach areas. He supplied a picnic of traditional Latvian fare, which we enjoyed. We were picked up promptly at our hotel and returned there afterwards.
Our tour guide Roland was suuuuuper nice, told us everything we wanted to know about the region and Riga in general. He made us feel very comfortable and we had a nice break with typical snacks which was such a nice experience as well. Amazing day! Worth it!
We had an amazing day on this tour. Our guides Rolands and Walters could not have been more friendly and really helped give us a wonderful day. The places we visited were breathtaking, and it was great to be amongst nature. Would definitely recommend!
A great day! Very enjoyable trip to a different side of Riga - Winter didn't spoil the day at all and a very knowledgeable and fun host made the day
We spent a fantastic day with Roland discovering the various habitats of the Kemeri National Park. We were picked up from the hotel and driven to the peat bog. We walked around the boardwalk and were given plenty of information about the fascinating habitat. We were then taken to the lagoon, followed by a lunch of local specialties which was delicious. Finally we headed for the beach which is bordered by wooded dunes. Throughout Roland was informative and entertaining. I would thoroughly recommend his company.
My husband and I went for a three day citytrip to Riga. We really wanted to see the nature of Riga so we booked Roland to show us on a day tour. He picked us up from the hotel at 10 am and he returned us to the hotel at 4 pm. Because of my pregnancy I couldn't walk for hours. Roland knew this and took really good care of that; the combination of walking and relaxing was perfect for me. We had a beautifull day in the nature from Riga. Roland was our private tourguide on this sunny day. We went to see three beautifull places. Roland told us everything about the nature, the animals that live there and we had a typical Latvian lunch. We had a great day and made lots of beautifull memories there. Thanks to Roland who was so easy to talk with and very kind to us. He was even our personal photographer. Our trip to Riga was really amazing thanks to Roland :)
The tour includes 3 stops: 1. a walkway in and out of a forest through bogs and wetlands; 2. a walkway amongst marshes; and 3. a trip past pine trees and dunes to the beach. Stops 1 and 2 include stunning views from vantage towers. Although snow had started to melt and stop 1 was rainy, by the time we reached stop 3, the sky had broken, providing stunning views of the sky, beach and sea. Our guide, Rolands, was a biologist and conservationist, whose passion for and knowledge of the area and Latvian culture/history was amazing. Nothing was too much trouble for him and I can honestly say he's the best tour guide I've ever encountered. He provided details the day before as well as food and drinks on the day, and was happy to take pics of my wife and I to capture memories. We will definitely do another tour in Latvia and look forward to Rolands being our guide again.
This was an amazing trip exploring the Latvian nature. Rolands was a wonderful guide so knowledgeable about the places we were visiting, the history and their importance in preserving biodiversity and ecosystem. A bit off the usual tourist areas but very enjoyable indeed! He also prepared a lovely picnic of Latvian food that I would have never tried otherwise.
We thoroughly enjoyed this trip to Kemeri National Park. Roland was an excellent guide: friendly, accommodating and brimming with knowledge. The park itself is large and diverse, and this trip gives you a fine sampling of the various landscapes. The boardwalk hike through the beautiful bog was a highlight for us. Highly recommended!
We'd planned to visit Kemeri National Park on our weekend in Riga but couldn't have hoped for such a fantastic experience. Our guide Rolands picked us up from our hotel and drove us and another couple to the park, guiding us round four very different parts of this fascinating area. He is hugely knowledgeable about the biology and geography of the park, and about Latvia in general - always happy to answer and discuss any questions (in excellent English!). Rolands provided an interesting and tasty Latvian picnic lunch, and took some great photos to remind us of our trip. The walk was easy for anyone of reasonable fitness, and we even managed a dip in the Baltic from a pristine near-empty beach. Thoroughly recommended.
We had a great day with Roelands, our guide of the day. He drove us to four locations with beautiful nature. We started in a bog where you could walk on a special made path through the swamps. Very special location and a place rarely seen in Europe. Along the way Roeland explained about all the different plants and animals. As a biologist he has a lot of experience and knowledge to share. After that we went to a dense forest, like a sort of northern tropical forest. After that we visited a lake where we walked a floating path in the water. Roelands made us a great snack and drinks and afterwards we had a walk along the seaside and was a possibility to swim. All in all an excellent tour. We walked about 14 kilometers, but in segments. Not very difficult if you have a normal heath. I really recommend this tour when in Riga.
From the start Roland’s knowledge and experience made this a day never to be forgotten The Kemeri national park is like nothing I have ever seen . From the natural bog areas to the ponds you are left speechless . Finishing on a stretch of the stunning 200km beach on the Baltic Sea where you could swim , paddle or just take in the view. A surprise was the taste of Latvian food and drink.. have to admit we did buy some chocolates before leaving Riga. This trip is a must if you are spending time in Riga. We were on a cruise and it was easily do able as we were in port overnight.. you learn so much more than walking around a city
We really enjoyed seeing several different areas in Kemeri National Park, and our guide, Rolands, may have been the best guide we've ever had on any tour. Friendly, knowledgeable, eager to share his enjoyment of the sights and science of the park with us. This was a long tour - Rolands picked us up at our cruise ship, which we weren't able to disembark until after 1pm. It was nearly 9pm when we got back, tired but happy. The walking wasn't challenging - mostly very flat - but we did walk at least a few miles this day. Driving to and from the park was enjoyable as well, as Rolands pointed out several things and shared lots of facts and stories. He also prepared a nice snack for us featuring several local foods and drink. Kemeri National Park itself is interesting in that we don't really have bog areas where we live. The weather was perfect on this day for photos of the sun and clouds reflecting on the ponds, but of course that was just luck. Thank you, Rolands!
Rolands is a local guide with a lot of knowledge about nature, botanic and his Home Country. We loved the walk trough the bog.
I would give ten stars if I could, the best guieded trip I ever had, with the best guide. Superb company, a lots of informations and breathtaking places. ❤
It was so special! Very personalized trip. The guide was so friendly and provided us with information you cant get somewhere else. 100/100 I'll come back for sure!
What an amazing experience! I don’t think we have ever been on a tour with someone at such a personal level. It really gave us an opportunity to connect with the culture while experiencing such a wonderful atmosphere! If nature is what you’re interested in, then this is a trip you would love to book; exploring rich green forests to a beautiful swampy boardwalk and a white sandy beach, Roland has so much knowledge and passion for nature. The variety of scenery he showed us was absolutely breathtaking. Highly recommended.
The tour with Rolands was really lovely, everything from the pick-up to the different locations until the drive back to the city was well planned and executed. Throughout the whole day there was a lot of different informations regarding Latvia generally and even more to the surroundings we were visiting. I do highly recommend booking the tour and profiting of the vast knowledge from the local guide as it is really a unique experience. To top it all off, there was lots of snacks and drinks provided by Rolands to keep his guest/s really happy. :)
We had such a great time. Could explore beautiful nature, great walks, fun talks and super interesting informations about nature, people, yummy snacks and the culture of Latvia. Thank you so much for this amazing experience and great day!! Definitely recommend his tours to everyone.
Great day ... 3 hikes in 3 seperate places. Amazing scenery and simply perfect. Tour guide also brought us Latvian goodies to taste which added to the experience.
We had a great time on our adventure. The guide was really friendly and knew a lot of background. I can warmly recommend the tours!
We can recommend Rolands. He is a very openminded and funny guy,who makes your tour unforgetable. Stunning spots and lot of inputs.
As a nature lover me and my husband were looking for the country with the most beautiful nature reserves and forests and found that Latvia is the second greenest country in the world! It also has some of the highest coverage of forests in Europe, lowest air pollution and highest ecosystem vitality. So we decided to travel to Latvia to visit 2 of the 4 National Parks - Kemeri and Slitere. While researching online we found Roland's tours and were captivated by the interesting blogs and high praise reviews. We booked 2 tours and were so happy we did! Our guide Daiga - a biologist - showed us the most beautiful parts of the parks, explaining everything about the flora and fauna, but also about the cultural heritage. Daiga was the most amazing guide, knowledgeable, thoughtful, gentle and just such a wonderful person to be around. Latvia is now our most favorite country to travel to in Europe and we will definitely come back for all of Roland's other tours.
