Average hotel, nothing special. Location is good for the Old Town and the room was fine. Breakfast was the letdown — one of the worst I’ve come across. Beans on toast or salad was about the extent of it, with almost nothing for anyone with dietary requirements. For the price, I’d expect a lot more.staff good no issues there.
Location is fantastic. 20e parking per day / parked outside as they have maybe 10 spots and more under the hotel but very narrow entrance. Breakfast super convenient. Enough options. Also had voucher for dinner. U can choose 2 options per person. starter mains desert. Good options and tasty. Hotels seem not new and not modern style but all works. Air con a bit loud but works so that’s important. Beds comfy and pillows also fine option.
I’ve stayed at Avalon a few times over the last few years, which I think says enough already! The hotel is welcoming, clean and relatively modern, in an excellent Old Town location overlooking the market and bus depot. The interiors are very pleasant. Just a small note as usually I’m very happy with the room, however this time we were in a room with a set of very odd, narrow and high up windows!! Still a lovely view of the old town, just had to stand on a chair to get a proper view of it. But other than that, the room was, as usual, very comfortable. The breakfast is great, lots of options including hot and cold foods - pancakes, bacon, eggs, as well as cold meats, fruit, and cereals. The hotel staff are always lovely, really welcoming and always happy to help however they can. Finally, the connections are brilliant, the train station is just a short 10 minute walk away, and the number 22 bus for the airport stops just across the road but the stop to the airport is just outside the main entrance. I would always come again!
Overall, we had a very pleasant stay at the hotel. The breakfast was quite good and provided a great start to the day. Although there were some minor issues with the dinner service, the management team’s quick and solution-oriented response was truly commendable. We really appreciated how promptly they reacted to our feedback and their kind gesture made a positive difference to our experience. The staff were exceptionally friendly and hospitable, which made our stay even more enjoyable. We would like to thank the entire team for their warm attitude, and especially extend our appreciation to the kitchen staff. The rooms were clean and well-maintained. The daily renewal of towels and refreshments (both hot and cold drinks) was a nice touch. Having a bathtub in the bathroom was also a great comfort feature. Once again, we would like to thank all the staff and especially the management team for their quick response and thoughtful gesture.
This was a great experience. Starting from the room which was quite big and comfortable. The housekeeping staff was great at promptly cleaning my room when I leave. I know this because a couple of times I had to come back to the room within an hour and it was already cleaned. The breakfast buffet was really good and offered a variety of pastries, salad, eggs, sausage, and mimosas on the weekend. The restaurant staff was great, extremely attentive and courteous. I was concerned about noise when I arrived since my room was facing the tram (20 meters from the entrance) and bus station. It is quite a busy area. But once I got in the room, you could hear a pin drop. I couldn't hear a thing. Two employees need special recognition, Ikar at the bar and Martin at the front desk. Ikar was so nice to me. After getting soaked from unexpected rain, I went to to the bar and I asked about the Riga Balsam. He explained to me what is was, alcohol content, flavors, and then made me his version of a mulled wine with it and I was hooked. I needed that on that cold and wet night. Martin at the front desk was heaven sent. I had to leave early in the morning around 4:30am. Martin checked me out. When I asked him where I could get some coffee, he offered to make me some and it was delicious. He even asked me which kind of coffee I would like. Then when my Bolt driver showed up, he helped me out with the bags. He didn't have to, he came out and took it upon himself to help me. Thank you Martin, that was a great start to my long flight home. The girl at the front desk with the red hair, heavy set, was intimidating. Always looked angry and unapproachable. She was not rude but if she was at the front desk and I had a question, I would just keep on going and would wait for someone else. Overall this was a great experience and would love to come back to this hotel.
