Our guide, Stephanie, was wonderful. We were given a thorough explanation of each item and its relationship or significance to Lyon. The charcuterie of regional cheeses -and meats as well as a quenelle was delicious. We had plenty of time to savor each food or drink experience and we were given a praluline to enjoy later. Highly recommend this tour!

Itinerary
Our tour guide will meet you at the meeting point and will show you the city while tasting all the typical food. The tastings here described can change according to the season and the availability of our partners.
Let's start your culinary journey in a wine bar near the Saint Jean Cathedral, one of the most iconic landmarks of the Old Lyon. Here, you will begin with a classic French aperitif! You will sip a refreshing glass of local wine while indulging in a delicious cheese tasting, with various types of cheese from Rhone region but not only!
Near Place du Change, a small square that reminds of the trading history of Lyon, you will understand why this city is the gastronomic capital of France. The reason is crystal clear if you take a look at the variety of local ingredients, such as charcuterie. Inside a local boutique, you will be guided into discovering some of the most famous charcuterie varieties.
Let's discover the famous hidden passages of Lyon old town: the traboules! These covered narrow streets connect one building to another and were used to transport goods or to seek protection in time of war or fights. And after the discovery of this secret gem, have a seat in a beautiful traditional restaurant, also known as a bouchon, and try one of the most iconic dishes of the Lyonnais gastronomy: the quenelle, perfectly accompanied by a glass of local wine!
The best dessert in Lyon is absolutely the Praluline: a soft brioche filled with tasty pralines, typical candies made of almond covered by a pink sugar coat. You will have a taste of this special dessert in one of the historical boulangerie in town!
You will end your tour near the river, in a bar that's one of the most popular among the Lyonnaise youth. Here, you will have a glass of a regional liquor, made with herbs who were supposed to cure every disease. Come and discover its recipe with us!

Excellent guide, Natalie. Very informative Local food at various sites in Old Town. Loved it! Small group was nice.
Anna gave us a great tour, I’m very full of food, very nice Discovery, the chartreuse was super nice. We were all very happy
Anna took heat care of us and adapted so well to a member of our party being delayed by the protests
Nathalie was fantastic and a real asset to Do Eat Better! Her knowledge of Lyon, its food scene and gastronomic history was impressive, and she has a wonderful way of sharing it that makes the tour so engaging. We loved every minute and really enjoyed all the extra insights she brought to each stop. She also went out of her way to prepare us for the weekend market and share tips on how to make the most of Lyon’s food scene during the rest of our stay. We couldn’t have asked for a better guide!
We had a great time with Stephanie! Highly recommend this tour. We learned a lot and got to try lots of tasty things.
Stephanie was excellent and we loved each of the stops and the food we got to eat, particularly the quenelle!
A wonderful tour of the old part of the city with excellent food tasting. History and cuisine in one tour! Our guide Stephanie was informative and engaging. The tour included a full lunch as well as four other stops. Highly recommend.
Great tour, hosted by Nathalie. She was a font of information about Lyon and its history with food. Our stops were interesting and fun, great food!
Nathalie was an amazing guide!!! The food was delicious and most importantly the people information she shared helped us plan the remainder of our stay. I would definitely recommend this tour on your first day in Lyon!!!
Natalie was excellent! She’s very knowledgeable and professional. The food was delicious. Most importantly we learned so much about Lyon it enhanced the rest of our stay. Would definitely recommend!!!
My best friend and I showed up a little late but Anna was very friendly and accommodating. We walked through the beautiful old town and learned about the history of the city. Anna is amazing! She was able to answer everyone’s questions and was very friendly. The whole tour group felt like a little family by the end of our tour. I cannot speak highly enough.
Exceptional tour with our guide, Nicholas. A great way to begin a visit to Lyon. Learned a lot about the city while enjoying delicious food and wine in places that we would never have found on our own. Nicholas has so much to share about his city, and quickly brought a group of strangers together to enjoy a wonderful evening. Highly recommended! Great value for a learning experience with amazing food.
So much fun and excellent value for money. A lot of wine to taste and wonderful food. The guide was very nice, knowledge and patient!
While the guide was nice and his English excellent, overall the tour was boring, sluggish, and underwhelming. We had long waits between experiences and the guide was not engaging enough to make them seem short. The food was average and there wasn’t much wine offered.
This was the highlight of our trip to Lyon. I visited with my 87 year old mother. Nathalie was incredible. We learned so much about the history of Lyon, along with the food history—and tasting delicious delicacies and traditional Lyonnaise goodies along the way. Nathalie has a wonderful personality, along with her incredible knowledge of everything—and enthusiasm, she made this an outstanding experience. Would highly recommend and even do it again!
Our guide was Nathalie for this tour. Nathalie provided such a wealth of information about Lyon and France in general. Lyon is such an amazing place, I wish we had spent longer there. The food and drink stops were all interesting and gave us a real insight into the food scene in Lyon. Nathalie also showed us Lyon highlights unrelated to food such as the traboules. We actually went through a couple of these. It was a beautiful evening and Nathalie took the time to guide us over the bridge to take photos of beautiful Lyon. She also told us how to get back to our hotel. After the tour Nathalie sent us follow up information about the places we had been to as promised. Thank you so much Nathalie for a wonderful tour!
Anna was a terrific guide - charismatic, knowledgeable, funny and engaging. Highly recommend!
The Lyon Sunset Food Tour is an experience you do not want to miss. Stephanie (who was a FANTASTIC guide) led our small group through old town to sample all the delicacies that define Lyon - charcuterie, cheese, quenelle, pastries, and regional drinks. We experienced a traditional bouchon and enjoyed walking through the crowded streets while Stephanie filled us in on the city's history and traditions. I highly recommend this tour.
Anna was our guide and provided us with a wonderful and memorable experience of Lyon's history of food and culture. We were taken to some fantastic places to sample cheese, charcuterie, wine, dessert and famous Lyonnaise dishes. Would definitely recommend when visiting the city! Make sure you are hungry and ready to have a fun time! Santé!
Anna was an amazing guide! Super knowledgeable and I learned so much! Food was also delicious and always fun to try new things!
Anna was a great tour guide. Had amazing food!
First night in Lyon and got a lot of information and restaurant recommendations from our guide Stéphanie. She did a great job making this evening very enjoyable. Thank you Stéphanie!
Natalie was a wonderful guide—very knowledgeable and generously shared a detailed list of great things to do and see around Lyon. However, the tour itself didn't quite deliver on value for over €90 per person. While the cheese and charcuterie tastings were enjoyable, the food overall was just average. The main course quenelle at Chez Grand Mère was ok, but serving it with only water felt like a missed opportunity—a glass of wine would have paired much better, especially since wine options throughout the tour were very limited. We wrapped up with ice cream at the end and got to take home the regional pink praline brioche, which was a nice touch. Great local tips from Natalie, but hard to justify the price tag.
The meet up was easy. The group quickly cohered. The food was delicious ;and plentiful). Best of all Nathalie’s clear and interesting explanations. They gave us context for what we ate. We also had the opportunity to see a couple sights (passageway, clock).
What an amazing experience! I highly recommend it. I went solo on my first day in Lyon and it was such a great idea. Nathalie is an incredibly knowledgeable guide who’s clearly passionate about food and history. She also gave us some great tips for later that I’m definitely going to use. Book it!
Nathalie was such a fantastic food tour guide! She was very friendly, knowledgeable and she introduced us to so many wonderful food and drinks in Lyon!
Great tour and the guide (Nathalie) was excellent.
Great small group experience. Our guide Nicolas was very informative and engaging. 12 in our group. Easy meeting arrangements in Vieux Lyon. Visited 4 different establishments to taste cheese, wine, charcuterie, quenelles of pike, praline brioche & digestif. Lots of new experience, great recommendations for eating & drinking another time on our own. Great fun & very enjoyable
Firstly I’d like to say our guide was excellent. She was enthusiastic about the food, the French, and the history of Lyon. I can’t fault Natalie she was an asset to the company. I thought the advertised gastronic food and wine tour was not up to standard. We paid $366 for 2 people. Our first stop was a cheese shop where we had 5 pieces of very nice cheese and a very small pour of Chardonnay - like half a glass. 2nd stop a dried sausage cafe where we tried about ; different dried meats. There it was combined with a somewhat bigger glass of red wine. Still on the small side. Then 4 the main meal myself and another lady on the tour had the pike quennelle with sauce. I was really looking forward to this local dish ad I’d had it the night before at another bouchon and it was magnificent. This one that I had at this tour was too salty and not of the same standard as I’d had the night before. I left 3 quarters of it and the other lady left half of hers. The husbands had a cheese ravioli dish that they both liked and finished. No wine was served with the main course. I found that strange and I know the other couple where surprized as well. Last course, a famous local breakfast delicacy that Natalie bought in a shop on the way and gave it to us in a local bar to eat. I don’t eat breakfast items for desert and I know it’s a local delicacy but not hitting the spot for me for desert we were also given at this stop a digestive that was lucky to have about 20 ml in it. Sorry I’ve done gastro walking tours that take in 4 or 5 stops all over the world and I didn’t think your tour makes the cut. I didn’t really think there was enough food either. Even though I left 3/4 of my dish. Nobody asked me or the other lady who also had it - what the issue was with the dish. Like I said Natalie was great but clearly she’s under instructions do eat better company to provide the bar minimum so the company can maximise their profits on the food and beverages. For 240 euros you could do a good walking tour in the morning and then pick a lovely bouchon on the peninsula side like le merciere where you would get a great walking tour to learn about lyon and then book a great restaurant for the evening . Much better value for money and it will cost you a fraction of the cost of doing this your.
Stephanie was an exceptional guide, very informative and charming. The food was delicious and more than enough to count as a full meal. The wine was pretty good too. This was our first night in Lyon and it was a great way to start because now we have her recommendations to help us plan the next few days I highly recommend Stephanie as a guide.
Nathalie is very friendly and knowledgeable. Very enjoyable to experience.
Awesome tour with Nathalie! Good food, great knowledge, in my opinion best way of experience Lyon!
The only reason I’m not giving this tour a 5 is because I was still hungry at the end of the tour. Whilst it says you will eat the equivalent of a full meal, I was still hungry at the end, however we didn't eat the whole praline, so that could be why. Our guide Marie Clara was exceptional!! So knowledgeable and super friendly and accomodating.
Our guide, Marie-Clara was excellent. She gave us the perfect amount of history of Lyon’s gastronomy. All of the food and drink that we were given was delicious. This tour was the perfect introduction to Lyon on our first evening there.
Anna was a great guide. She explained a lot about the history and secrets of Lyon. Very enjoyable tour!
Our guide was fine, but the food was so so, and the wine pours were very small. For the money, it wasn’t worth it, we would be been better off dining at a good restaurant.
It's a wonderful way to learn and taste the special foods of Lyon. There is some uphill walking on uneven cobblestones which may be a problem for some. Our guide, Samaan, was very friendly and informative.
What a great ride! Carine took us all over Vieux Lyon sampling the best Lyonnaise taste treats. Her love of Lyon, and its history and food culture was evident with every step. Her English was perfect, and her energy just carried us all over town. Highly recommend!
Our guide was excellent and spoke very good English.
This was such a cool experience during our time in Lyon. Our tour guide was so knowledgeable about the history of the city, stopped and explained little hidden gems, and gave wonderful recommendations throughout the tour on where to shop, eat, etc. All of the stops were great and the food was amazing. Would absolutely recommend to anyone visiting Lyon. (Tip: do this tour towards the start of your stay in Lyon so you can go visit all of the recommended places in the following days!)
Excellent Tour, especially very good guide (Elisabetta), very good insights apart from the food, great recommendations! Has really been fun!
Generous food and delicious. Anna our tour guide was especially knowledgeable and fun. Wear comfortable shoes!
The Sunset Food Tour with Anna was fantastic. She’s friendly, knowledgeable, and clearly passionate about the local food scene. Every stop was delicious, and her insights made the experience feel personal and memorable. A perfect way to enjoy the city at golden hour. Highly recommend.
What a fun tour. A little history, a lot of food! Elisabetta was a great tour guide. Highly recommend this tour when you are in Lyon!
Anna was fantastic. She set it up perfectly and timed the tour with precision. She picked the right spots, provided quite interesting history and keep our group engaged. Highly recommend her as a guide.
Fun tour. Anna was enthusiastic and felt like I was walking through Lyon with an old friend and not just a tour guide. I HIGHLY recommend this tour!
Anna did an awesome tour. Merci beaucoup
This activity was amazing. Elizabetta was a great guide with a plethora of knowledge. The food spots were great choices and we enjoyed ourselves. Highly recommend booking this one!
