Food tours give you food, and also a history of the place. I enjoyed it very much. A stop at a silk shop was a nice addition given the town's history. Lucr was a great guide.

We only alphas one day left in Lyon and decided the food tour was a good way to explore the town. Turns out it was the best idea because they gave us very handy tips on what to eat as well as showing the local artisans of old town Lyon. Our guide Nico, was very engaging and hilarious and was open to any questions we might have. 100% recommend to anyone who is visiting Lyon

We had a terrific time on the Vieux Lyon Food Tasting Walking Tour by Lyon Original Tours in September. We have done 10 Food Tours throughout Europe over the years, and this was one of the best. Our guide Nico was exceptionally knowledgeable about Lyon's culinary history, the city's history and local wines. He was lots of fun and very engaging throughout the entire tour, sharing many stories about what makes Lyon such a special place. He ensured everyone had a great time. The food we tried was delicious, and we really enjoyed tasting the many Lyonnaise specialties on the tour. We especially loved our extensive cheese tasting at Cremerie Lyonnaise ... the owner Thierry was so passionate and interesting as he explained all about the different cheeses. The visit to Bouchon Les Lyonnais was a tasty and fun experience ... I only wish that we had sampled the famous "quenelle" which is such an important part of Lyon's Bouchon food history. Thank you for sharing your passion for Lyon with us Nico! We really enjoyed our time with you - we even recommended this tour to other visitors we met in a restaurant that evening, and they booked it on the spot!

We didn’t know what to expect as this was our first city food tour. Lyon seemed to be the perfect city for such an experience and it certainly turned out to be a very enjoyable, filling, educational, pleasant experience!! Our guide, Luce, was absolutely terrific, as were the food establishments representatives. Savory and Sweet! Cheese, charcuterie, authentic Lyonnaise dishes at a Bouchon, ice cream/sorbet, coffee and praline desserts. Absolutely fantastic! Luce did a five-star job, all around, including the food and non-food narratives (Lyon history, Guignols Clock, several Traboules with courtyards, a silk shop, and so much more). This experience was more than a stroll around town to eat local food! Highly recommended!

Nathan obviously loves his hometown and taught us so much about its history. Vieux Lyon is a special place and he clearly loves to share it with his guests. The food and drink were all amazing, and seeing it on foot is the only way to do it.

What a great experience! Our guide, Shirine, was both knowledgeable about Lyon and its food scene. She was delightful to spend 4 hours with. One of the best food tours we have been on in large part because of Shirine. Needless to say this tour is highly recommended.

Such a fun experience! I tried things that I never would have gotten on my own, especially as a solo traveller that speak minimal French. The tour is well paced, just right amount and variety of food, sprinkled with some fun facts about Lyon’s history.

Every food stop was wonderful…especially the cheese monger ..each stop explained the history of the food we tasted….the time went very fast..we had spectacular guide Chirine. Everyone could hear and understand her perfectly and she made our tour one of the best we have in a long time

It was a great tour, and I gave it 5 stars, but I did want to explain a little further for people so they have a full sense of what they are getting into. I don't think it deserves 4 stars... but I do wish it had been a little different. Our guide was great, super knowledgeable, LOTS of history about not just food but also the area. So think of it more as a walking tour + some food. There was a lot of food, but I had a friend do the Secret Food Tour the day before and they got more food and more local food. The ice cream and sorbet we got, while good and a local product, I wish we had tried the traditional Lyon candies that I had heard about from my friend who did the other tour. I left feeling like I learned a lot more than I ate... I've done Secret Food tours in other cities and I do regret not booking that one instead.

Megan was a superb tour guide. She was very knowledgeable about both the history and food of the region. In spite of the extreme heat, she kept us in shady places and reasonable walking distances. Distances. The selection of food we ate was great. Food tours are definitely one of my go-to's in a new city. I've never had a bad one.

Wonderful Lyon Food Tour! Manu provided a lot of really interesting history and background on Lyon and it's rich food culture. Visited a traboule as well. Plenty of food, nice fellow travelers. Highly recommend this tour!

We explored Vieux Lyon with this food tour and got all the ins and outs about the gastronomic capital of France! Our guide told us interesting facts about the city, took us through some hidden passages and to authentic places to have us taste the best of the best. The cheese store was a reel discovery, as we got to taste local cheese and learnt how to pair them with wine. We got a generous tasting of different cold cuts and now know how to differentiate them (these were also paired with wine), and had some local delicacies at a traditional Bouchon. The tour ended with a typical pink sweet brioche like pie and coffee in another cute corner of town. The tour was well balanced between walking and tastings and even a visit to a silk workshop to learn about the ancient silk techniques. We got a useful list of recommendations in the end of restaurants where local people go (it is very easy to fall for a tourist trap in Lyon when it comes to food, so this came in handy!). Strongly recommend this tour and to plan it early during your stay in Lyon!

Our guide was excellent. Very knowledgeable and confident. Managed a large group of people very well. Provided information in an interesting manner and could tell she loved the history if the old town.

We have done several food tours in different cities, and this was the absolute best one we’ve ever done. We learned so much about Lyon and the food we sampled. Nate was a fantastic guide.

This was well worth doing. Our guide, Nathalie, was wonderful, so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about sharing her affection for Lyon. The tour was well-paced (never rushed, time for questions and conversation, and relaxed tastings). The shop owners were warm and welcoming and the food was nicely presented and abundant. Highly recommended.

Nathalie was an amazing guide. She brought Lyon’s history into focus with the food with so much passion. As a vegetarian with dairy intolerance there was very little to eat but I was aware of that before I went. I still enjoyed the tour and felt it was well worth it.

This was billed as a food tour, but it was so much more! You really get a lovely tour of the old town and many relevant sites, as well as learning a lot about history such as the importance of the silk workers to Lyon. Our tour guide Nathalie was wonderful! She was very knowledgeable, entertaining and warm. The food was delicious: cheeses, cured meats, Lyon specialties (creamy garlic spread on bread, fried pig fat(!!!), eggs poached in wine gravy) and then gelato and finally praline tart with coffee or tea. Highly recommend! 👍😳

This was not our first visit to Lyon but our Old Town Food Tour with Nathalie was certainly the best. We experienced a wonderful bakery visit, chocolate tasting, amazing cheese shop, authentic Lyon silk shop and ended with a delicious lunch in a traditional Bouchon. We saw Lyon through fresh eyes and learned so much. Nathalie was not just extremely knowledgeable but a fun person to get to know. We were sad to say goodbye. We highly recommend her guide services and give her a five star plus!

Natalie was an exceptional guide: friendly, organised and with a deep knowledge of the food culture of Lyon with its intricate ties with Lyon history, particularly the influence of the silk industry. Excellent selection of vendors and bouchon. The pacing of the tour was perfect. Special mention too to Thierry at the Crèmerie/Fromagerie who shared with us his love and his excellent knowledge of the wonderful world of French cheese. We highly recommend this tour!

This tour is definitely worth the money! Our guide was very knowledgeable about the culture and history of Lyon. All of the stops were incredibly informative and interactive. I loved everything from the cheese and chocolates to the silk: the wine was also delicious as was the samples of traditional lyonnaise cuisine.

Pros: our tour guide was great and super knowledgeable. The cheese, silk shop, and chocolates were all an amazing experience. Highly recommend this tour! Cons: traditional Lyon food (as far as the main meals go) may not be what most people expect when they think of French food. It’s not the “wow” kind of flavors packed with rich complex layers. It’s just kind of okay. Maybe some people will like it, but it’s not what we were expecting. We recommend researching Bouchon menus to manage expectations

Nathalie was really amazing and we had such a good time with her. We were the only people in the group so it felt like a private tour! We met some friendly people, had good food, good laughs, good wine and she shared much about the history of Lyon and the food. Made our trip much more memorable knowing all the details. Would highly recommend! Nathalie was amazing. We wished we had done the tour at the start of our trip so we had a much better understanding of the areas of town, the food and where to really eat at an authentic bouchon.
