We have booked a whole day private tour with a suggested itinerary including sightseeing and wine tasting for 1.600 EUR for 4 persons (2 couples). Our guide Rachel was very nice and the pick up from our hotel and back was working very well with Eric. The lunch location was very nice and tasty as well however only one drink was allowed included in the lunch, but that was not an issue. But at the end we had no sightseeing at all and from the 3 wineyards we visited, one was worth the money (Victoire d‘Affaux). The others had no showroom, no toilet, no snacks just a dirty cellar, no door with tasting 3 wines. There was not even chairs to sit. It was a garage tasting…It is definitely not worth the 400,- EUR/ person. We have done a lot of wine tastings from Bordeaux to Spain and Italy (e.g. Piemont) and everywhere you get a much better experience for much much less money. We don’t recommend it and will not do it any more.

My Wife and I had the pleasure of spending the day with Amelie, and can't say enough about how wonderful of a day it was. Driving through the Beaujolais countryside on a gorgeous day, getting to see all the beauty of the towns and vineyards and tasting magnificent wines along the way. We stopped at three wineries each very different and very knowledgable and very passionate and had a lovely local lunch based on the terroir of the area. We even got to see some freshly harvested grapes being pressed and got to taste some of the juice fresh from the pressing. And doing it all with Amelie, who was raised in Beaujolais, and had such a passion for her community and craft was the cherry on top. Couldn't recommend this more.
My husband and I took this Beaujolais wine tour and it was the highlight of our trip! Amelie was incredible and truly went above and beyond to make sure we had a good time. She gave us a bunch of recommendations for the rest of our trip and called to make reservations for us. During the tour, we visited three wine producers, a small one and two bigger ones. At each one we met and had conversations with locals in the wine industry and got to see the vineyard and production facilities. For lunch, we did the picnic in the vineyard, where we enjoyed beautiful views of the area and a lovely charcuterie plate from a local butcher, desserts from a local bakery, and a bottle of wine (fire danger was too high for a barbecue, but we didn’t mind). The car was bumpy and loud, so it may not be a great fit for everyone, but it was so much fun and provided a nice cool breeze! Overall, we are very glad we booked this, and even though it was a little expensive, we felt it was worth the money.
How do I express the joy and happiness that Amélie and this day brought to our trip. She was amazing, she knew so much about the region, the wine and the terroir. I would book this again in a heartbeat and if I had more time, I would have booked longer with Amélie. It was like spending the day with my best friend, and enjoying food, wine, knowledge and the amazing company. I cannot explain how amazing and thoughtful she was in how she planned our adventure and took us to places we would have never found on our own. Merci beaucoup Amélie.
It was great! Álex was an excellent guide and person. We learned a lot and we had so much fun. The different types of wine we tasted were amazing. Highly recommend this tour!
We absolutely loved our day with Elodie: everything was perfect, from the storytelling to the restaurants, but most of the meetings with the winemakers. The region is beautiful, and we highly recommend this tour.
Alex our guide crafted a tour that checked all the boxes. We had a lovely time exploring and very enjoyable lunch and wine tastings.
Our experience with the reservation to the overall experience on the tour, including all communications was 5 out of 5+ stars! We shared with our insider, Amelie, what we had hoped to see, eat, and experience. As well as informed her of our favorite Beaujolais - Chénas. Amelie used her resources and secured us an exceptional experience at one of the very private vineyards there. The private lunch was very special and TASTY!! The weather, albeit rainy at times, made the fall colors come alive! We LOVE Beaujolais, and would enjoy spending more time taking in all that this region offers!
Amelie was an absolute pleasure to spend the day with. Her wine knowledge was very impressive. She also made the whole day super fun and interesting which kept us engaged and learning the whole time. As we went throughout the day and visited the wineries plus a fun stop at a local cheese farm, it was clear she was very knowledgeable about the area and the community. We loved slowing down in the middle of the day for the picnic lunch. We went to four different wineries during the day - all of them were great and very different so got an excellent variety of wines from the area. The final winery that we were supposed to visit ended up being closed but she was quickly able to pivot and find us another option. This stop ended up being one of the most fun ones of the day as we all got to experience new wines together! 10/10 tour and would do again!
This was one of the most unique experiences I’ve ever had. Amélie was an excellent and super fun guide for the day! We stopped at 4 different wine stops - all giving us unique experiences such as tasting wines out of the tanks with the wine makers to a local wine festival stop for lunch (thanks to lucky timing and Amélie notifing us it was an option for lunch). Icing on the cake was the vintage Land Rover as our means of getting around - took driving through the vines to a whole new level! Pierre was a great and professional driver who got us too and from Beaujolais safely as well! Highly recommend the tour!
Perfectly delightful, Alex, my guide, was very knowledgeable and has great people skills. Unique experience in the wine country.
I highly rate the Beaujolais Insiders Company and loved our guides! Our guides Thomas and Melanie were fabulous! Thomas knew everything about winemaking as well as all about growing the grapes and the different crus and wineries. He comes from a Beaujolais wine making family! He is a fun, friendly, and knowledgable guide! He is an enthusiastic guide who truly made my whole family enjoy their trip. Thomas communicated well with us through what’s app. He took great photos of us and shared them after the tour ended. He made sure we were happy every hour of our full day tour. Melanie was also a wonderful guide! She also lives in the area and has taken courses about wine making process and being a tour guide. She made a big effort too for us to enjoy our day. We travel quite a bit and always take a trip advisor tours of the areas we visit. This was one of the best tours out family has ever taken! My husband and I have 3 adult children in their 20s and 30s who brought their significant others. They all enjoyed this guided day trip. You should go if you have the opportunity!
My guide, Amélie, made my private full day tour of Beaujolais incredibly memorable and enjoyable. Days before the tour, Amélie took the time and efforts to understand my food preferences and helped arrange my train transportation from Lyon. Being a local to the region and a fellow wine enthusiast, Amélie customized my wine tasting experience with in-depth explanation of the terroir and arranged private tasting sessions with local wine makers. Amélie's knowledge on Beaujolais, friendliness, and her connection in the wine industry transformed a simple wine tasting tour into an incredible experience.
This was a truly spectacular and intimate experience. We were picked up at our hotel in Lyon by one of the owners of the company and he could not have been more pleasant and informative. We met our guide Emilie who drove us in the vintage Land Rover to three separate small vineyards in the Beaujolais area. She was extremely knowledgeable about the region and passionate about the wines. At each vineyard we did tastings of at least 5 wines and were able to walk the vineyard and met with the winemaker at one as well. I would highly recommend selecting to do the picnic for a small additional fee, where they set up a table and chairs at the top of a mountain in a vineyard. It was absolutely spectacular - Emilie cooked for us on a barbecue and we drank wine and ate cheese and charcuterie that we selected at a local fromagerie in one of the small Cru villages —- the day could not have been more memorable.
We had an amazing trip across Beaujolais with Amelie! We sent her some ideas in terms of what we were interested in - a mix of natural and traditional winemakers, a desire to see some beautiful views, and opportunities to learn more about the history of the region - and she curated a fantastic two days with us. Touring with her was fun, warm, wonderful and delicious! We absolutely recommend it.
My mom and I had the best day exploring Beaujolais with our amazing guide, Amélie! From the moment we hopped into the vintage Land Rover, it felt like a real adventure through the French countryside. We visited three different wine growers, and each tasting was fantastic—delicious wines, beautiful settings, and a chance to really experience the passion behind the winemaking. The picnic lunch was an absolute highlight: fresh local cheese, cold cuts, and wine enjoyed with a gorgeous view of the rolling vineyards. It honestly felt like something out of a postcard. Amélie made the whole day so fun, relaxed, and memorable. She clearly loves what she does, and her energy made the experience even more special. If you’re in the area and want a mix of great wine, beautiful landscapes, and a laid-back day full of local flavor, this is the tour to book. Easy 5/5!
Our private tour with Beaujolais Insiders was unforgettable—not just because of the incredible wine, but because of the thoughtfulness, care, and personal attention that went into every detail of the experience. We were traveling with our 1-year-old, and the team went above and beyond to make the day seamless and enjoyable for all of us. From the start, it was clear this wasn’t a cookie-cutter wine tour. They tailored everything to our interests, crafting an experience focused on the heart of Beaujolais—both its wines and its people. Our guide, Thomas, was outstanding. He didn’t just drive and narrate; he became part of the experience. At several stops, he kindly held our little one so we could fully immerse ourselves in tastings. He even brought along toys to keep him entertained—an incredibly thoughtful touch that made all the difference. Beyond the hospitality, the depth of knowledge was exceptional. We visited small, passionate winemakers who didn’t just pour wine—they shared their craft, their history, and their land. We left each stop with a deeper appreciation for what makes Beaujolais special. This tour wasn’t just about wine. It was about connection, discovery, and making real memories. Whether you’re a wine lover or just someone looking for a meaningful day in the French countryside, Beaujolais Insiders delivers something truly rare.
We had a multigenerational family ages 11-70’s and everyone had a wonderful time! Our guide, Thomas was knowledgeable, interesting, and full of energy. We visited four tastings, one of which was in a castle that was a bonus, and the others were all with charming hosts and delicious wines. Riding around in the vintage Rovers made it all the more fun too, the windows down, smelling the earth and feeling the breeze. The sun was shining and we were able to take advantage of the vineyard barbecue lunch option, eating amongst the vines, sipping rosé and dining on foods we picked up at local markets. It was the highlight of our Lyon visit! We hope to do it again.
We had a truly memorable experience on this fabulous tour through the vineyards of Beaujolais. Our guide, Aldric, was wonderful in every way. He is knowledgeable, well organized and communicates clearly. He also is so warm and kind. He stated the tour saying he wanted us to feel like we were with a good friend and that is exactly how we experienced him. We have done many wine tours, and something that made this one stand out was that we didn’t do the typical go to the big winery and get the standard production tour. In fact, we spent a lot of time in the vineyards and also visiting small family run operations that where wine is being produced with genuine heart and soul. A highlight of the day was when Aldric drove us a beautiful viewing point in a vineyard and then proceeded to set out comfy lounging chairs with cheese and wine to top it all off. It was incredible. I should add that to the day of her tour happened to be my birthday and Aldric went out of his way to make it extra special. He’s a wonderful guide, a genuinely kind human, and he and his company do a wonderful job providing a quality experience.
My boyfriend and I went on a trip across France, Switzerland, and Germany and this wine tour was one of the highlights of our trip. We stayed in Lyon and took a 30 min train to the train station to be picked up by Aldric, our host. He was very knowledgeable, welcoming, and had great communication. The scenery and experiences we had were unforgettable and we have recommended this tour to anyone going to France.
What a truly amazing day we had with Amelie! The car was fun, the shopping at the market was truly enjoyable, lunch was absolutely delicious, and the vineyards and wine tasting were the best. We especially loved our first stop with Patrick & Nelly. Of all the experiences we had on this trip, this was truly a highlight!!!
Alex was an amazing tour guide! He listened to what we wanted to do and made it happen. Def recommend!
I received a one day tour in the Beaujolais region with Amelie from my husband, as a birthday present. I didn't know what to expect, but the whole experience was absolutely amazing. Amelie was ready for us at the train station, we headed first to a castle with georgous garden where we had the freshest pain au chocolate and a coffee, under a tree that could easily be a part of Games of thrones scenery. Gorgeous! We then started a tour of several vineyards, where we had too much laughter and good times (and probably wine). The chance to buy wine at each vineyard, meantI regretted my luggage was only 32 kg! The whole journey felt like an episode of White Lotus, but so much better. Amelie is a perfect host, super organised and professional. She could read us very well to provide the best experience. Also, extra bonus points for organising a trip for us on a Bank Holiday in France (that we weren't aware of). THANK YOU Amelie for making my birthday so special and for the amazing restaurant recommendation and booking it for us! Also, thank you for finding a 39 year old wine for me. We still haven't tried it, but when I miss Beaujolais too much, I will open it and remember this amazing day. I thoroughly recommend trip with Amelie, you will laugh, you will drink wine and probably think about buying a vineyard! Stefania and Paul
We had an absolutely spectacular day sampling the crus of Beaujolais with our wonderful guide, Alex. We were in Lyon to visit family but wanted to spend one day winetasting and this trip ticked every box. We had an easy train ride from Lyon, Alex met us at the station and whisked us away in his lovely vintage land rover. He apologized several times for this English which was flawless and did a wonderful job translating and teaching us all about the region and why it is so special. The highlight was probably the beautiful picnic lunch among the vines. Overall the day was informative, very relaxing, perfectly paced and tailored to our interests. Could not recommend hightly enough.
The tour was super fun, educational, and really awesome overall. Aldric went above and beyond to ensure we all had a great time. All of the winemakers were great people and their wines were incredible. We had an amazing day!
Wow, what a wonderful day we had discovering stunning Beaujolais with our amazing guide, Amelie. First, thanks to Thomas for your patience and excellent communication in booking our tour. Second, thank you to Aldric for picking us up in Lyon due to the train strike. We have done wine tours throughout France, Italy and the US, and my husband and I agreed that this one was one of the best. Amelie was born and raised in the area and treated us to a visit with Cyril, a biologique winemaker who takes great pride in his vineyards and wine. We trekked through his plots and had a lovely and delicious tasting in the vineyards after his explanations. We had lunch at an excellent rustic bouchon and tried our first Quenelle, a Lyonnaise specialty. Our second vineyard was with a larger producer and we had a great visit and again, up on a hill in the middle of it all with Millie, a delightful Aussie who showed us their impressive facilities and took us through the tasting. Amelie shared so much history of the area and explained all the various crus that make up the Beaujolais region. We are now big fans of the wines and came away with several bottles. The vintage Land Rover and was a bit bumpy but allowed us to drive in places we otherwise couldn’t. And although I was a tad nervous that there are no seat belts, Amelie is a very safe driver. We so enjoyed the entire experience, and I cannot recommend it enough. Book it, you will not regret it! Thanks to our new friend Amelie, who also made some excellent recommendations for Lyon.
Very enjoyable day with Amelie seeing the countryside of Beaujolais and tasting extraordinary wine from out of the way small wineries. We started the day by going to a fromagerie to select several cheeses to have with us as well. We were able to meet the winemakers one on one and have them explain their methods as we tasted several wines at both stops. Amelie arranged a wonderful lunch at a rustic but lovely country restaurant that outshone the Bouchons of Lyon in our opinion. The best day trip we have ever had in France. Also, we took the train out of Lyon to meet Amelie which worked quite well. Amelie is a most engaging, welcoming and knowledgeable guide.
Stunning scenery, a lot of fun with our guide JC. Nothing was too much trouble. Learned so much about the region and the wine making processes. So different from Australia. The vineyards and wine makers that JC arranged for us to visit were very informative and so very friendly. I only wish we had given ourselves more than one day to immerse ourselves in the history of the area. Highly recommend JC and the vintage Range Rover tour.
I know the region fairly well, but I was still constantly surprised by hidden gems in the area and fun anecdotes! I recommend everyone to book this trip!
If I could give more than five stars, I would! Our tour with Al through the Beaujolais region was nothing short of incredible. From start to finish, he made the experience feel so special and personalized just for us. His deep knowledge, passion, and warm personality truly set this tour apart. The scenery was breathtaking, the wine was exceptional, and every stop felt thoughtfully curated. Al went above and beyond to ensure we had an unforgettable time, and I can confidently say this was one of the best experiences I’ve ever had. I will absolutely be back and won’t hesitate to book another tour with him. If you’re considering this excursion—don’t hesitate! I’d recommend it to everyone I know.
Aldric and JC were charming guides. Aldric picked us up at our hotel and JC took us wine tasting. Together, they planned a custom full-day tour of Beaujolais. JC brought us to four different tastings so we got to experience everything from unique natural wines to Beaujolais Villages to a few different crus. It was a great variety of wines presented often by the winemakers themselves. They packed a lot into the day without making it exhausting. A highlight of the day was an elegant lunch at Ema, where we asked JC to join us so he could tell us about his life in the region. We really enjoyed spending the day with him. Both he and Aldric were courteous and accommodating. They have put a lot of thought into these tours and their relationships in the region. Thank you, JC and Aldric!
My wife and I had an amazing time exploring our favorite wine region. Al did a great job of currating the trip to our needs and arranged a meeting with a win maker we'd requested. A must do if you are in Macon or Lyon.
An absolutely perfect day! Our guide and new friend, Aldric, introduced us to several areas in Beaujolais, while sharing with us stories of the land and history of winemaking in the area. We visited with a winemaking family and shared a picnic and a lovely glass of wine with them, as they described their wine and the process of making it. We toured vineyards, and even a castle, where we also enjoyed a delicious glass of wine made on the estate. An unforgettable experience, thank you, Aldric!
Although the weather was rather cold and foggy, our guide Alexandre, made it warm and interesting. All our stops were fantastic, including a country side delightful lunch! Beaujolais wines were great as expected.
What an incredible experience! Our guide, Amelie, was so knowledgeable about the winemaking process in the Beaujolais. With her, we were able to see how a number of wineries in the area operate, and more importantly, try their wine! Nothing but great things to say about our day.
Amelie and Aldic where amazing in their welcoming and support for our wine tasting travels through Beajolais. Amelie took us places and introduced us to wineries that only a thorough local guide could provide,
We enjoyed the tour very much. Aldric was a wonderful guide. He took us to good places. The colors were beautiful, people were very kind. Overall a very good experience!!!
Insiders Experience was one of the most exceptional tours we have encountered. Having traveled the world we have taken many tours. I found Insiders Experience on trip advisor, but the tour listed there didn’t quite suit me – so I reached out directly, and Thomas responded quickly with a recommendation that was perfect. We personalized the Full Monty: Beaujolais Full day tour. A few days ahead Amelie, our tour guide, reached out to get our restaurant preferences to ensure we had a good lunch experience – which we absolutely did. She was an amazing guide having grown up in the region and seeming knowing everyone. After taking us for scenic views of the valley sprayed with grapes colored in red, yellow, and green as the fall weather approached, and some special places she pointed out, we stopped in a town for a coffee. There she picked up some meat and we all went and selected local cheeses from a cheese store for our pairings. Our French is rudimentary, and Amelie was so great at keeping us included in the conversations wherever we went. She even let us practice our French with her. The cheese was amazing – hint always chose the free-range goat cheese. We were now armed to visit the vintners. We have done wine tours in California, Australia, New Zealand and now in France and this was by far the best wine tour. We went to multiple Crus in the Beaujolais region and learned how the soil and stone made each of the areas different providing different flavoring to the grapes. The diversity was amazing for such a small geographic region. It wasn’t just a tour guide talking and pointing at the vats and barrels and then headed to a crowded tasting room. It was just us and we tasted wine in all stages of the process: we listened to it fermenting in the barrels, saw the skins as they separate from the juices, and learned how hard a harvest season is for the small wine makers. Meeting and talking to the actual vintners whose families have been doing it for many generations and those who have come to the business recently to do what they love, made it so special. Excellent Tour Guide, Excellent Tour, and Excellent Company.
Insiders made me feel like a local and experiencing the region as if I lived there. My guide was Alex and I loved the flexibility. Felt less like a tour and more like a day in the life of the Beaujolais countryside. Got to try all the local cheese and charcuterie and sit down for a chat and wine tasting with Antoine, a 5th generation winemaker. I learned a ton but also had a great time connecting. The lunch at the cute restaurant was one of the best meals I had in France. (Next time would love to do the BBQ in the vineyard we talked about) Fun drive the whole time with awesome viewpoints and cute stops like old small churches along the way. Also super convenient pick up and drop off in Lyon. 10/10 Thanks again!
JC was excellent, took us to some nice places to taste wines, a great lunch spot and some fantastic views. The car was fun.
Definitely would recommend!!! We spend a beautiful day exploring the Beaujolais region, visiting wineries, enjoying delicious local food, and learning about the area. Our guide was Aldric and he was amazing! Friendly and very knowledgeable about the region and the different wine makers, he really made this trip enjoyable!!!
We had an amazing day with Aldric! I would give this experience 6 stars if I could. We had amazing wine, met the kindest people and ate an outstanding lunch. If you’re lucky you may even get a Madonna song and dance! 🕺
What an amazing experience ! Since many weeks I was hesitating to do this tour, because I live in the region and I was thinking « maybe I can do this by my own », but all the reviews were inviting me to book this tour ;) And what I can say is I really do not regret. The car (iconic), the guide (Aldric), the landscape (off the beaten track) and the weather, everything was here to make this day a perfect day ! Thank you Insiders Experience for this incredible day and thank you Aldric for your knowledge, your sense of humor and your kindness. See you soon for many more trips !
We had the best day touring Boujelais with our guide, Aldric. Beautiful scenery, architecture, wine, lunch, and company! Aldric was attentive to our tastes and the tour felt very personalised based on our preferences. I loved that we could get insights into working family wineries, so special! We would not hesitate to recommend this tour and company to all of our friends.
Very nice trip in the countryside near Lyon in Beaujolais. Tasted wine, food and met nice people while enjoying a beautiful landscape view in the rover.
We had the most amazing time during this tour ! Amelie, our tour guide, really showed us a side of the French wine coutry that we would never have gotten to experience otherwise, set against the roaring engine of the coolest Land Rover you've ever been in. We got to see three different types of wineries; one with beautiful grounds and a high-end experience, one with an ambitious upstart who's entire mission is to produce increadible wines, and another that was a family run operation for 5 generations. Each one had wine that was amazing, and Amelie was a gracious guide who helped us not only discover the wines of Beaujolais, but also forge real connections with the wine makers. She took us to an amazing restaurant for lunch, were we got to try even other Beaujolais wines from the other Crus that we didn't get to taste at the wineries. Overall, we managed to try some of the most spectacular wines from each of the 10 Crus. To top it all off, Amelie brought us to a beautiful hiltop within a vinyard where we were able to take a quite moment to relax, reflect, and just savor the moment. If we could do this tour again for the first time, we wouldn't hesistate, but honestly next time we're in the area we might just do it again, because this was more than a tour, it was an experience.
We're a little late in writing this review as we were in France for the Olympics. We were in Lyon, France for a few days and spent one day with Amelie touring various vineyards, speaking with wine makers, tasting local cheeses, enjoyed a Michelin starred lunch and even a surprise/bonus stop to tour a collection of vintage motorcycles (once she learned we were both avid cyclers ourselves). We couldn't have asked for a better day with great stories, beautiful views, and a fantastic guide.
Wonderful wine tour of the Beaujolais region by friendly and knowledgeable guides. We had a behind the scenes visit directly with the wine makers. And rumbling around in the Land Rover made a memory our group won’t soon forget! Thank you Insiders!
We had an amazing time in the Beaujolais with Amelie. We were driven to various wineries in a beautiful vintage Range Rover. We had a barbeque over-looking a vineyard and green hills. we also got to explore some cute castles. This was well worth the money. We highly recommend this tour and especially Amelie!
We spent a wonderful day with Amelie touring the Beaujolais. We visited a few wine producers and saw some beautiful sights. We also had the most lovely barbeque which was prepared by Amelie while we drank wine and enjoyed the beautiful surroundings. We highly recommend this tour and especially Amelie!
