Excellent! Cooked a wonderful meal preceeded by a trip to the market. Good conversation and company.

One of the highlights of our trip to Lyon and Southern France. Joelle opened her home and her kitchen to us. We had a great time preparing our lunch and shopping in the local outdoor market. We highly recommend this experience!

Such a wonderful few hours spent with Jöelle and Philippe. Choosing the freshest and best of foods from the places only Jöelle knew best then learning how to cook them in the French style was most enjoyable. Jǒelle and Philippe were so friendly and hospitable and very generously opened their home to us. The views from their apartment were spectacular too!

It was such a wonderful experience to have participated in this cooking class by Joëlle (the host) ! She was so friendly and lovely ! Her apartment is nice with very beautiful view over Lyon. We went shopping at the nearby markets and learned much from Joëlle and the vendors. Happy chatting and sharing the meal which we prepared together -- a fantastic lunch with Joëlle and her husband, good food and lots of laughter! A must-do activity for someone who like meeting with locals when travels, tastes a bit of the daily life of the locals, not necessarily just for learning cooking. Thank you Joëlle for providing this exceptional activity to the travellers ! It was so memorable and I definitely recommend it !

Learning to cook in a french style - lots of butter and creme freche and chocolate - a visit to an incredible food market and other good shops in a beautiful and vibrant neighborhood of Lyon - a pleasant social gathering and delicious lunch with our hosts and other travelers in a spectacular home and outdoor space high above the city.

This was a fun, warm and wonderful way to spend a day, particularly if one likes cooking. Joelle planned an informative and filled day. After doing some initial food prep (she called it "work"), we went to the daily loca, outdoorl farmers market to pick up produce and cheeses. Then back to get beautiful home to finish preparing and eating the meal. I'm an avid home cook, yet learned new dishes and preparations. We all say down to eat in the outdoor patio area with a view of all Lyon. Her husband Phillipe joined us and our was like enjoying a special meal with family. Unique, delicious, and friendly. Highly recommended.

Joëlle is very warm, gracious, and hospitable, and she made our market visit and cooking lesson fun! She is a patient teacher, and thankfully did not react like certain celebrity chefs when she found a bit of yolk in my egg whites (very bad when making mousse 😀 - ohlalalala). We met her charming husband and enjoyed lunch together on the terrace with beautiful views of Lyon. Joëlle also kindly provided my wife and I additional info on Lyonnaise restaurants and bouchons that only locals know. Highly recommended!

Wonderful Rooftop View of Lyon and an exquisite/informative cooking class. Joelle was our tour guide through the neighborhood market. We returned back to her home where we shared in cooking techniques, French cooking terminology, and friendly banter. Recipes will very depending on requests, allergies, and availability. She catered to our dietary restrictions (pescatarian) and was very thoughtful in guiding our cooking process. It was a splendid time and we look forward to spending time with her in the future. She has a great list of places to visit as tourists, vendor recommendations, and foodie spots. Overall, excellent resource for Lyonnaise cuisine, specialty's, and wine recommendations. The entire experience was amazing. Joelle was a wonderful host and instructor. The day started at the market, which goes for many blocks, with the most wonderful ingredients. We then went to the butcher and cheese shop. All of the recipes are approachable, so you can do them at home. Joelle guided us, but was not intrusive as we made the meal. We then sat to eat together and it felt more like having dinner at a friend's home. And... speaking of her home. The rooftop terrace view is remarkable. We could see all the way to the Alps. Spending the day with Joelle was truly special. Prepping and cooking our meal with her cheerful guidance was so much fun. When going to the market with Joelle we felt like locals, as she and we were warmly greeted by each purveyor. Then the six of us (my wife, our friends and another couple) and Joelle sat down to the absolutely wonderful meal and a great bottle of wine on her beautiful terrace, with an amazing 360-degree view of Lyon! We all agreed that it is a day we will remember. We recommend that if you're coming to Lyon, take the opportunity to spend this time with Joelle. It was truly a highlight of our time in France.

From picking our food at the local market to preparing it - to eating it on a beautiful rooftop - delightfully watching school children on the playground, and of course, our wonderful, personable chef prepare and serve the meal with us made a perfect afternoon! This cooking class experience was the absolute highlight of our trip to Lyon. Joelle and her husband (who speak English quite well) were so lovely, kind, and patient with our group (myself, my best friend, and our daughters). We started off with our recipes and once we had our main dishes in the oven to cook, we walked to a nearby outdoor market to buy more fresh ingredients (which was an awesome trip with Joelle as she pointed out local delicacies and places worth visiting). Upon our return we finished making our meal and enjoyed it with some delicious red wine on their balcony. The view was amazing from the rooftop - you can see almost all of Lyon from there!! And - Joelle emailed us the recipes so we could return home and make the yummy dishes for our own families! I can not recommend this experience enough :) it was so fun!

Lovely experience to learn first hand some very fine French cuisine. Cooking a full meal from appetizers to desserts. Non-rushed and comfortable ambiance coupled with a spectacular hilltop view of Lyon. Instructor is very friendly and a knowledgeable cook

We had a wonderful time. It was an intimate experience with just the five of us. We made wonderful French food got to visit a local outdoor market and the views from her apartment patio overlooking light on were wonderful. She’s a wonderful chef and a gracious hostess, I would highly recommend this.

We had an amazing experience at Joelle's. All the recipes are easy to understand and to make. The trip to the Market was incredible, an awesome way to get immerse in the French culture. And the view! Oh the view of the city is the best!

My son and I are very fortunate to share a culinary experience and a great cooking course with Joelle in Lyon and at her beautiful home. We had the opportunity to make various dishes with Joelle. The starter dish was a cheese pastry dough twist. The other dishes include potatoes, shallots, butter covered in French cheese, and cooked in the oven for 1.5 hours. Another dish include pork loin soaked in a cheese and herbed sauce. After lunch, we had chocolate soufflé and various cheeses. Joelle took us for a nice walk at an open air food market selling meat, cheese, seafood, bread and vegetables and fruit. I highly recommend this cooking class in Lyon and with Joelle to potential clients.

My husband and I had a fabulous time shopping the Croix-Rousse market and cooking with Joelle and enjoying déjeuner with Joelle and her husband in their beautiful rooftop apartment! It felt like being with older friends. What a lovely personal and unique experience. Would highly recommend!

I have been traveling through France with a friend and we decided to take a cooking class while we were in Lyon. Joël was wonderful, inviting us into her home and sharing the most amazing meal with us. We could tell she really enjoys these occasions and is happy to be hospitable. It was a great opportunity to experience French culture and food a little more deeply and try something that we might not find in the average patisserie or restaurant. We highly recommend the experience.

A cooking class with a difference. Joelle and Philippe are excellent hosts and besides learning how to make great starters, gratin dauphinoise and chocolate souffles, we had a very enjoyable time interacting with them and getting a glimpse of the French way of life. Exploring the market with Joelle was something we really enjoyed. She explained all of the steps well to making a full, delicious meal. She was excellent at involving everyone in the preparations. Joelle was so welcoming and we enjoyed the view and meeting her husband. Her English was very clear and we had no trouble communicating!

From the moment you enter Joelle's magnificent home you are greeted with enthusiasm and an apron! We were ready to prepare an amazing feast. We started preparations! with the potatoes Dauphine and the chocolate dessert! Followed by an outdoor market tour! We were educated on French cheeses, artisaal breads, apples! Made the remaining menu and sat down to eat our culinary menu. Joelle's husband Phillip, came home for lunch and made the exception class memorable with lively conversation! This was the best experience and adventure we had in Lyon. Merci beaucoup Mille mercis!

Chef Joelle lead the class beautifully with excellent recipes. Her direction was light and fun. I met another couple from Australia who were great fun. We enjoyed our lunch on her rooftop terrace overlooking the city of Lyon. A wonderful memory!
