We had a 5 out of 5 experience. Oliver was knowledgeable and a great guide on our tour. We loved it so much we booked another wine tour for the next day.

Itinerary
At 1:50 pm, our guide English Speaking guide will meet you in front of Lyon Office de Tourisme building located on Bellecour Square (50 m opposite Le Royal Hotel). After a short walk, participants will get on the 8 seaters minivan to begin the wine to the Northern Beaujolais.
Start the journey travelling on the beautiful Beaujolais "Route des Vins" and with your guide learn about the "terroir" (french philosphy for wine) and the different characteristics of the Beaujolais "crus" wines appellations. Pass the Mont Brouilly, a strikingly beautiful dormant volcano covered by secular vineyards.
At 3:15 pm, push the door of a small family winery, meet a passionate wine-maker and learn the different steps of the unique wine making process of Beaujolais called "semi-carbonic" maceration. Then, go to the nicely decorated caveau (wine-tasting room) to enjoy several crus Beaujolais wines from different vintages.
Then, cross Morgon and travel to La Madone Chapel in Fleurie town to enjoy a breathtaking panaroma of the Beaujolais wine region: on clear days, you may have the chance to see the Alps and the Mount Blanc!
Travel again on the Beaujolais wine road, pass Moulin-à-Vent and then reach Chénas town to discover the amazing cellar of a Chateau Wine Estate full of oak barrels. It is time to savor beautiful Crus wines as your guide describe them and tell you about their aromas, balance and complexity ... Just unforgettable!
At 6:30 pm, your guide will drop you off at Lyon Office de Tourism Building, at Bellecour Square. A must do wine tour!

Nice drive to the countryside to visit 2 wineries. Olivier was very knowledgeable and fun at the same time.
This was truly an amazing tour. Sebastien was an incredible tour guide. We learned so much about the wine making process and sampled so many delicious wines from the Beaujolais region. As an added bonus, driving through the vineyards was beautiful! Highly recommend!
Fun way to spend the afternoon. Small group and amazing wine. Loved the history of the area and recommend for anyone visiting Lyon.
Truly wonderful experience. One of the best parts of trip to Lyon and very memorable. Well worth the money
We had a great time. Really enjoyed both wineries and Olivier was very knowledgeable. We also stopped for scenic views along the way. There were 8 of us so the van was full. Everyone had a seat but you will get close with your fellow passengers. It was definitely more wineries than castles as a couple were pointed out on the way, but the Wine tour is what I wanted.
Very thoughtful visits to two different wineries and to the vineyards themselves. Excellent cross section of the selected areas in Beaujolais.
Great tour for half the day! Wonderful to see local wine country. Plenty of tastings and opportunities to purchase additional wines.
Wine was incredibly especially the artisanal vinyard. I want to move there for a picking season. Olivier was the most informative wine guide I have ever met very knowledgeable.
Most favorite part of the tour was being able to visit small winierys and the owners actually telling our group the history of their vineyards. Being able to understand the whole process step by step, then being able to sample the wine was very intersting I would highly recommend this tour to visitors for a very pleasant afternoon full of history, excellent wines and meeting very lovely people.
Olivier was such a wonderful guide, so knowledgeable and friendly. We had such a memorable day and learnt a lot. Highly recommend this tour!
This was a great experience overall. Olivier is very pleasant and knows a lot about the region and wine. He drove us through beautiful towns and scenic ride. The two wineries were different from each other, but equally interesting and the wine we tasted very good. I would definitely recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see the region and likes wine.
Olivier the tour guide was excellent! So knowledgeable about the region and wine making. The views through Beaujolais were specacular. We visited a local wine producer that is family owned, Nicole Chanrion, who was inspirational, and a larger cave for a tasting. All in all a lovely afternoon enjoyed in good company!
A great tour! Highly recommend this tour for small groups - very informative, fun, and an excellent tour.
Olivier was a marvelous wine tour guide. The tour started on time. It was a comfortable drive to Beaujolais. We learned a lot about Beaujolais which is a wine region I knew very little about previously. The winery poured a generous amount of wine for the tasting. Went to not a small family owned winery and a large cooperative wine tasting room. Olivier was very responsive by email when we set up the tour. I highly recommend his wine tour.
Nice tour! Olivier showed us Beaujolais, some wine makers with a passion for what they are doing and of course some realy good wines.
Olivier was the perfect guide for our tour to Beaujolais! He was friendly and has a great wine knowledge, so the tour was very informative. Our weather was not too great, but He made sure everyone had umbrellas and he still stopped and have us an opportunity to take photos and showed us more about the soil type of the vineyards- very interesting! Thank you for a great Tour =)
Olivier is a very friendly guide, who makes everyone feel at ease at once. Good switch between French and English explanations and excellent knowledge about Beaujolais wines.
We had a fantastic afternoon visiting the Beaujolais Crus and was amazed at how small the area actually was. Olivier was very knowledgeable, giving lots of information about the region and how the wines are produced - in 3 languages! It was a pleasure to meet Nicole, one of the wine producers, and it was great to taste lots of fantastic wines. Would recommend to anyone interested in this type of wine.
What a beautiful area the Beaujolais wine region is. We were picked up in a 12x seater bus and headed off from Lyon. It was a lovely drive to get there, we stopped and were shown the vines and the how they are grown etc which we really enjoyed as we like knowing the why of grape growing. We were able to enjoy the beautiful scenery of the area as well and the history (our guide was very knowledgeable about wine and the history of the area). Then we went on to visit 2x vineyard cellars and tasted their wines. We bought from each as we really liked the wine and the pricing was very reasonable. Overall a great wine tasting experience.
Kanpai was the first of two tour companies my wife and I worked with to tour Beaujolais this week, and we have nothing but wonderful things to say about them. Olivier is a true professional. He is extremely knowledgeable about the Beaujolais region, its history, and the many different terroirs. We were in a small group tour of 6 people, and Olivier worked hard to make sure that everyone was having fun and was getting what they wanted from the experience. He planned a great route for us that included stops to get wonderful panoramic views of Beaujolais, a walk through a vineyard, and tastings at two very different wineries. One small family-run producer, and a larger chateau. Olivier kept everything running like clockwork, picking us up exactly when he said and keeping us on schedule without ever feeling rushed. It would be a pleasure to work with Olivier again, as I feel like we've only barely scratched the surface of what he has to offer. Highly recommended!
We had an excellent tour with Olivier from Lyon for the afternoon. We signed up online and received prompt confirmation with meeting instructions. We were met as promised on time at the tourism office and departed with 3 other fun couples. The first stop was Chanrion Nicole, a small, family run winery with a 70-year old woman winemaker. We viewed the vineyard and cellar while she regaled us in French, with Olivier's translation. We then sampled 5 wines (including a sparkling) in the tasting room. We made a couple of stops in the vineyards by Mount Broully and on top of a magnificent hill with a chapel on top. The second stop was Chateau de Chenas, a bigger facility, with tasting in a magnificent barrel room. Olivier did the tasting at this stop, with 6 wines sampled. Both stops were good and wine reasonably priced if you want to buy. Along the way on the road, Olivier gave great information on the region, the wine and Lyon. Overall, we were glad we booked this tour as a great introduction to the region. Only minor thing is that the van was a tad tight with 8 people, but it worked.
Great tour, lots of interesting information about the region, the wine makers and a small group of 7 make this a highly recommended tour. Don’t hesitate
We had a very nice afternoon with Olivier, who was a great Tourguide. With a small tourbus he showed us around the spectacular northern region of the Beaujolais. 5/5, would book again everytime.
Had a great trip with Olivier. We explored a medieval town and visited two lovely vineries where we sampled wines you dont usually find elsewhere, for which the highlight for me was Gamay
Our group of 8 had a splendid afternoon with Olivier as our guide. Even through the cold rain of our day, we were able to see for miles and miles. We learned a lot about the local wines and tasted more than 10 among our stops. Olivier is extremely knowledgeable and friendly, plus his English was impeccable to boot! Thank you for a wonderful afternoon. We will definitely recommend this excursion to friends and family traveling to the Lyon region.
I'm sorry to write a less than excellent review, as our tour guide was very kind. However, I've had wine tasting (as well as other types of spirits) trips everywhere from Bucks County, PA in the US to Bologne, Italy and we have always been greeted warmly by the hosts with written take home info, place settings with glasses for all of the samples set up and food pairing ideas including some types of bread or cheese, dips spreads or cracker types of food to pair it with - it is just more festive to sit around a table eating a little something while tasting the wine and having it explained to you! I'm not sure what the $108 us dollars was for apart from the transportation, and a single castle shout out as we whizzed by because it is my experience that the vineyards do not charge for these tours and tastings are offered to anyone off of the street in order to sell their wine. The hostess in the vineyard in the cave didn't even say one word to us, it was like late and she was seemed hassled by yet another tour group. I felt that the bottom line to this tour was, which do you want to buy, and in full disclosure, I knew I wasn't not buying. This tour was not for me per se, but if you have never had a lesson in wine tasting and you want get out of the city and kill an afternoon and have a pleasant and easy time of it with lots of photo ops for your friends back home, this is your tour; it just wasn't for me, sorry to say.
My wife and I took this tour in October and enjoyed it immensely. The deep look beyond Beaujolais Villages is worth every minute and every penny.
We had an excellent afternoon with Justine. Very knowledgeable about wine, the Beaujolais region and Lyon. The wines from Fleurie were fantastic. The scenery eas spectacular and Justine was nice enough to offer plenty of time to take photographs. A great day!
Olivier and Justine took us on a fantastic afternoon tour. Olivier was our guide and was so knowledgeable and engaging. We had a great afternoon of sightseeing, pictures and wine! We went to a small independent winery, and a larger winery. Both were so much fun. Olivier was able to provide additional insight, prepared us with information and facts about the wine and was truly passionate about what he does. I highly recommend this tour and look forward to our next trip. Thank you, Olivier!
Big thumbs up for our tour of Beaujolais Crus. Our guide Olivier was excellent, very informative and knowledgable with a great sense of humour. We thoroughly enjoyed our tour and left Lyon with a better understanding of the French passion for wine. Many thanks.

Justine, our guide, was clearly very knowledgeable about wine in general as well as Beaujolais wine specifically. The outline of the trip available on the website was very accurate so we knew just what to expect. Both wineries we went to were lovely and it was nice to see things done on such different scales. I wasn't blown away by any of the wines, but would recommend for anyone with an interest. If you're an aficionado, you may wish to seek your own trip.

I am Maria Sereda from Romania and I would like to thank you, Olivier and to all your colleagues from Kanpai Tourism for the wonderful way you organized our half day Beaujolais Crus Wines and Castles tour. Our trip was well designed and managed from the travel arrangements to the time we spent in every place. Booking was easy, we completed everything via email, all our emails were answered professionally. We had an interesting itinerary and we visited the Beaujolais region with its charming villages and two good wineries, where we tasted delicious wines and learned a lot about wine making: one of Nicole Chanrion and the other was Cave du Chateau de Chenas. Olivier is knowledgeable, experienced, friendly, flexible, patient, he suggested the best options according to our preferences and he gave us all the information we needed. I will always recommend Kanpai Tourism, for its professionalism and as a beautiful and interesting way to discover Beaujolais region and its wineries.
The trip was surprisingly fun! Olivier gave us a tour of a beautiful vineyard. He has enormous knowledge and enthusiasm. We also did a wine tasting twice and he taught us everything about the wine process. He speaks fluent English and everything was easy to follow. Definitely recommended if you are in the Lyon area, also during covid-19 the activity can be booked.
Olivier is very familiar with the winemaking process, from vines to wine. He can explain the process in English or French. The cellars we visited were very welcoming. I highly recommend this visit to all those who wish to visit the Beaujolais region and discover the wines produced in this region. We were very happy to be able to make this visit soon after the lockdown and we are delighted!
The tour is exactly as described. Olivier the guide is very knowledgeable and led us (3 couples plus our adult daughter) out of Lyon into the wine region of Beaujolais. The grape harvest had just begun and we could see the grapes being picked in the nicest weather. After two stops in the vineyards with many explanations from Olivier we got explained the winemaking on a small private winery. There everything had just been prepared for the arrival of the first grapes. The owner of the winery personally guided us and afterwards we were able to test 8 of his wines. Of course, we could also buy wine, but we weren’t pushed to do so in any way. Afterwards we visited a cellar from the 17th century of a wine processor. Wine growers can sell their grapes to this processor for Processing. As a result, there were wines from different areas here, of which we tested 5. It was a great atmosphere in the old cellar with the many barrels. The tour will take place in English. Olivier speaks excellently and knows a lot to tell, so it was a very special experience.
We had a very nice and interesting afternoon with Olivier. Olivier was a very attentive and pleasant travel companion. We learned a lot about the regional wines and were also allowed to taste many different ones. Can only recommend this tour!
A magnificent guide took us to four people from Lyon where I was enjoying a holiday. The guide and the family who owned the bodegag attended us magnificently. Greetings. Rudolph.
