Oliver is a great guide. The towns and wineries are beautiful. The wineries will not ship wine so you have to drink or carry home what you buy.
We had a fantastic time with Oliver our guide. He was funny and most engaging. The wine tasting was so informative and excellent in taste. The whole experience was excellent value
Fantastic time of year to explore "the most beautiful villages of France!" Gorgeous buildings, wineries, food, ruins & shops. Bring your walking shoes, Google Translate (for the parking instructions and church explanations), and clothing layers. With only one exception, everyone was fantastically (sp?) NICE!! We had a lovely time wandering and learning. Highly recommend!!
Such an enjoyable day! From the outset, Sebastian made the tour interesting and fun. Despite the rain in the morning, we enjoyed the journey through the besujolais countryside and pretty villages. It was great to get a bit of history and geography as well as info about the vibes, setting the ei es into context. We tasted some some fabulous wines, all before lunch (!)especially the reds at the Chateau du Faux, the family vineyard. Lunch was excellent and inexpensive (more wine there toi). Perougyes, the final village on the way home, was gorgeous and full of medieval charm. 10/10 for this tour and the best guide we could have wished for! Loved it! Many thanks, Gill and Christine,
Sebastian our guide was superb. We saw and experienced much of Beaujolais and learnt much about the wines of the region . The drive was comfortable
What a great way to see the region. It’s a long day but with lots of interesting stops and the host Olivier was great. Highly recommend.
It was a long day. The small towns were pretty quiet, very few shops open. The family owned vineyard was the highlight, meeting and interacting with the owner. The lunch stop was enjoyable, great menu choices and delicious.
Sebastian made this a wonderful experience. The instructions were clear on where to meet and he explained the events for the day. We headed out in a van from Lyon to Beaujolais. We first visited the town of Oingt, then headed to a winery, then on to Sebastian's family winery, lunch in a small near by town and closed out the day by visiting another medival town, Pérouges. Sebastian shared facts and history of each town as well as information about Lyon so, when we returned to Lyon, we were able to check out a few areas on our own that he had mentioned. I highly recommend booking a tour with Sebastian. He is knowledgable not only about Beaujolais, its wine, but also the history of the area and Lyon.
Oliver is a fantastic guide, very relaxed and accommodating, even did an extra stop so two girls on our tour could get breakfast. Loved the two wineries we visited and the restaurant he chose for lunch. Also visited Oingt as well as Perouges. Highly recommend this tour
I just loved this day. We had a great group of people on our bus, Oliver was amazing, he gave us lots of interesting information and looked after us beautifully. We did 2 medieval villages and 2 wineries with generous pours of wine. It’s a long day but it’s really is perfect. We also stopped for a delicious lunch in Marcy. This was the most picturesque, joyful day and my husband and I just loved it. Thank you Oliver for a wonderful tour - I highly recommend this tour if you are in Lyon.
A very fun day with Sebastian- the highlight was visiting his family's winery and learning more about Beaujolais. We also got to see backroads and small towns that we would not have had the opportunity to see if we had been with a large tour. An amazing lunch, two wine tastings and a nap in the van on the way back. Would highly recommend!
Excellent tour by family business. The guide, Sebastian, was entertaining and knowledgeable. Loved the wine and the vineyards, highly recommended
The view of the misty valley landscape from up on the hills was a beautiful spectacle. The golden stone villages on the route to the vineyard were unique. We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to Dominique Guillard's vineyard where we learned about his natural approach (lutte raisonnée) to viniculture and wine making where he doesn't add pesticides, fertilizer or water. His wine was delicious. Olivier was a friendly, knowledgeable guide who made our tour so enjoyable.
Thank you Olivier for a fantastic day tour to Beaujolais with wine tasting & Perouges Medieval Town, It was cold, but we had clear skies and took beautiful photos. We tasted good wines, had a delicious lunch, and shared our memories and thoughts with the other group members and you.
We took an all day tour of the Beaujolais Region with Olivier along with five other guests. We visited Chessy and Perouges and two wineries. We also stopped for an excellent lunch. The leaves on on the vines had turned color but had not yet dropped and they made for an excellent backdrop for our pictures. Olivier showed us several vistas for pictures that we would never have found by ourselves. He also arranged for a vineyard tour by 10th generation owner of a family vineyard to explain how the grapes are grown and how the wine is made. Afterwards we went to his tasting room and Olivier led a tasting of the wines made at the winery (the second of the day). We also visited Chessy and Perouges which were different but both ancient and amazingly beautiful. Olivier explained the history and pointed out interesting details. It was a very good day.
Fantastic trip, our guide was very attentive to our needs. He even adjusted some of the wines during our Wine tasting to accommodate a few members who preferred rouge instead of blanc or bubbly wines. We had a great time in Pérouges! It was great that we got there early so we had the town almost to ourselves. It started raining, but he was ready with umbrellas for us. He even dropped us close to the hotels and stations for an easier trip home.
Let me just say that this is by far the best tour guide in Lyon. My wife and I did 3 tours with Olivier and he was phenomenal. Go directly to his website and pick the tour that you want or just contact him for a private tour. He's very flexible and easy going.
My husband and I did the Beaujolais and Perouges small group day tour with visits to the beautiful the Villagesof Perouges and Oingt and wine tasting in Beaujolais. The weather wasn’t good but our guide Sebastian was fantastic. He has great local and wine knowledge , easy to talk to and humorous. We had lunch at a local restaurant and had a local home cook lunch at a decent price. Our group get along well which makes the day really enjoyable. Thanks Sebastian!
Sebastián was a very knowledgeable guide. We had a wonderful day in the beautiful villages of Perouges and Oingst. Lunch was great. I would highly recommend this tour
What a wonderful day spent discovering Beaujolais, its wines, and beautiful landscapes. We visited several wineries, tasted a variety of delicious wines, had a lovely lunch and discovered the beautiful medieval village of Perouges. Olivier is a wonderful guide who is so knowledgeable about wines, the history of the region and so much more. We had a terrific time and would highly recommend this trip, especially if you are visiting Lyon..
Wonderful day long tour. Cannot say enough about our extremely knowledgeable, professional and delightful tour guide, Olivier. We visited multiple wineries, had a delicious lunch and visited the medieval town of Perouges. We would highly recommend this tour.
This was an awesome day - the gorgeous villages visited, the lovely wine tastings, gorgeous scenery and also the great explanations and very lovely manner of Oliver. Oliver is very professional and full of local knowledge and also very patient and thoughtful! He is one of the best tour guides we’ve ever had - he is down to earth and great to talk to. He made sure we could visit toilette’s everywhere which was great! The restaurant for lunch was a lovely experience and very delicious! Great tasting and also very reasonably priced. The other guests were great company and it was an all round lovely day!! (and of course Beaujolais wine is delicious!!) Highly recommended!!
We really enjoyed our day on this tour. It was a treat to ride through the beautiful countryside. Olivier gave us a wealth of information about the history and wine of the region. The visit to the winery was relaxed and pleasant with information about production, nice wines and the opportunity to see how sausages and cheeses complimented their flavors. The lunch stop was delicious and very reasonably priced. The villages we stopped at were lovely, "picture postcard" beautiful.
This was an amazing day from beginning to end. Our tour guide, Justine, was absolutely fabulous. We fell in love with Pérouges, and the galette we tried there. We then drove though the beautiful country side for a wine tasting, which featured 4 wines, before stopping for lunch. We all enjoyed our lunch, and then our visit to Oingt. After exploring this village, we stopped at a family winery for our second tasting of the day. We got to see the vinyard before tasing the various wines. Justine was with us every step of the way and gave excellent explanations. She was the best guide we had on our vacation. I certainly would recommend her to any traveller.
Olivier was an excellent guide. He was friendly, knowledgeable, spoke both French and English for all participants and he truly loves the region and the producers, vintners, restaurant owners and it shows. The sites and country side were beautiful, the wine delicious, the food was top notch. My wife and I took a few tours during our time in France and his was by far the best. Cheers
Olivier is a phenomenal guide. We did a private tour with him to the Beaujolais Region and Perouges. He made stops in Charnay, Chessy les Mines, Bagnols, Oignt and Perouges. We had a fabulous tour of a lovely vineyard, Domaine de fond-Vielle, where the owner spoke of the history of the vineyard and hosted an amazing tasting. I'd highly recommend a tour with Olivier; he shares so many interesting points about the area and never rushes his clients. He allows you to explore and experience each of the areas. We enjoyed an outstanding day with him.
My wife and I took three full-day wine tours with Olivier in September. Each was wonderfully unique and perfectly led by Olivier. His knowledge of the different appellations and his relationships with various producers made for highly informative tours and great fun. He also arranged for lunch stops at some terrific restaurants. Olivier: Ian and Leila say hi from Southern California 😎
Our guide/driver, Oliver was very knowledgeable and made certain the tour met our expectations. The Beaujolais countryside is some of the most beautiful I’ve seen.
Loved all of it. Sebastian was fantastic! Knowledgeable and very personable. The amount of time at each place was perfect and the van was very good.
Highly recommended for a day-trip in this beautiful region around Lyon. September is a great time as you can watch how they harvest the grape. Great wine with affordable price.
Our guide was relaxed yet knowledgeable. He had washed all the windows in the van was perfect. He knew a lot about the history of where we stopped. The wine maker that he took us to was charming and we tasted five different Beaujolais. It was just great.
Our group of 6 absolutely loved this tour. It was the highlight of our trip to Lyon. We were able to go to 2 different vineyards and taste multiple different wines from the region. The lunch in between the tastings was also excellent. Olivier is incredibly informed about both the region and wine! He was very friendly, and we had an amazing day. Absolutely would recommend.
This was an excellent day trip from Lyon. Oliver was the perfect guide for this region. He was very knowledgeable & friendly. We learned so much about the grapevines & making of wine. He guided us through the scenic countryside & medieval villages providing much interesting history on the region. Very enjoyable!
We went to Lyon for the light festival and booked this so we can see the countryside. It was so beautiful and we got to visit Oingt in which I never heard of but the cutest little town with Christmas decoration. The tour was great with wine tasting and tour of the vineyard. Highly recommend.
Olivier was very knowledgeable about the area. The towns we visited were very interesting and he gave us lots of information. The countryside was just lovely. Olivier grew up in the region and had worked in the vineyards. There wasn't a question he couldn't answer. He took us to the vineyard where we learned about gamay grapes, tasted them right off the vine, and then did wine tastings with more grapes, cheese and crackers. He also took us to a local restaurant for lunch. Though he had lots to share, he could tell when we were tired at the end of the day and we drove home in pleasant silence. We highly recommend this tour.
Booked this with my girlfriend and had the tour yesterday. Olivier is a great tour guide. His English is good and he has a lot of knowledge about the area. The tour itself was great - no more than 30 mins driving around before a break or stop for photos or to visit somewhere. Smaller group size makes the tour more intimate. Highly recommended! Merci Olivier! -David&Michelle
Olivier is the most informed with a wealth of information of all the areas we visited . From the comfort of his mini van he made the day one to definitely remember . Beaujolais and Perouge are a must see when in Lyon . The countryside is simply breathtaking . We were able to stop along the way and take in the scenery ( and photos !!), Olivier was more than happy to cater to our needs. Lunch stop was also great ,lovely fresh meals.
We met Olivier at the visitor centre in Lyon and he was the perfect guide The trip takes you on a wonderful drive all around the golden stone villages of the Beaujolais region The visit to the vineyard was excellent and fun Lunch was also another high spot, good quality and most enjoyable The last stop was Pérouges and it was delightful to wander the cobblestone streets of the picturesque village Olivier was the perfect guide and companion on this superb day out
This was one of the best day tours I've been. Our guide/driver is very professional, very kind, and with great knowledge of the region and about wine making. The landscape is beautiful, and we've known some of the small cities in the region. In the winery we were warmly received by the vigneron and tasted very good wines of his production. The restaurant we stopped to lunch is very comfortable, with tasty meals at reasonable prices. Finally we visited Perouges, an enchanting small medieval town.
We were on the road all day on an excursion to Beaujolais wine country in the north and the ancient village of Perouges to the south. Olivier Delalande, our tour guide, was very good. Beaujolais is considered France’s prettiest wine region. We crossed several quaint medieval towns and saw a few castles and churches. We had one of the best wine-tastings in Domaine de fond-Vieille winery that I have experienced. We got to taste 5 wines with very generous pours and got to meet the winemaker. At this winery, which has been in the family for many generations, they grow Gamay and Chardonnay grapes and produce about 90,000 bottles of wine. The owner showed us the process of making the wine in large concrete vats. We ended up buying several bottles of wine there. Next, we visited the picturesque village of Oingt and had lunch there at La Feuillee restaurant. We shared some delicious rose, and a light lunch. After lunch we headed to the ancient village of Perouges that once had 1500 inhabitants, went down to 17 and now has about 60. The town was founded about 500 years ago and still looks the same. A remnant of the original 500-year old wooden door to the village still exists. Interesting tour with a great tour guide and great tour members. Our group included two Norwegians, a doctor and his wife from Florida.
Although the weather unfortunately was not the best for our tour, Olivier brought us to the best vantage points and gave our group of 8 a wonderful tour. He is very well-versed and passionate about the region. The wines were good, lunch at the little restaurant wonderful, and the Perouges stop was very charming. All in all, a recommended tour. Thank you!
We had a lovely time exploring Beaujolais and it's wines. While we are familiar with other French wines, Beaujolais was not one we knew much about. We met the winemaker who explained their process from the vines to bottling. Olivier was a fabulous guide, walking us through the region and beyond. He is able to speak several languages as we had English, Spanish, and French needed in our small group. Comfortable and lovely ride, he went over and above. Lunch at the restaurant he chose was delicious. While there, my husband's phone was lost. We searched for about 20 minutes and after we left, Olivier kept calling the restaurant for us to see if someone had taken it by mistake. Sure enough, someone did, and a few days later, while on another tour, Olivier picked it up and brought it to us in Lyon. Thankfully we were still in Lyon. Besides the wine tour, tastings, and lovely Perouges, we were grateful for Olivier's concern and knowledge. We recommend this tour and other Kanpai tours with Olivier. Merci beaucoup!
Me and my wife took a fuul day tour around Beaujolais and Perouges. There were one moere couple in this tour and it was a delightful day. The guide know his way around and gave good informations during the visits. Also took us to nice vineyards and a pleasant lunch. It was a money well spent!
We set off as 2 members of a group of 8 visitors with our Driver and Guide, Olivier. After a pleasant drive from Lyon to the Beaujolais area with a frequent commentary from Olivier we commenced our tour of the Beaujolais area, The Commentary from Olivier was very informative with occasional stops to take photographs. We stopped at a Village Restaurant, had some very good food and wine for Lunch. I started the trip unconvinced about Beaujolaise wine but after tastings at a winery and at lunch I was converted. Olivier carefully returned us to Lyon after a very enjoyable trip. Thank you Olivier, Merci Beaucoup.
Fabulous trip to Beaujolais & Perouges . Beautifull landscape and villages . Our guide was fantastic explaning many facts about the countryside and villages . We had lunch in a very nice village restaurant -
We really enjoyed this varied and interesting trip in the beautiful countryside, which took us to a delightful small village in the golden rocks area, and a great family winery, Domaine de Fond Vieille. Watching the first stage when the grapes came to the winery was a real treat. So was meeting the vigneron Dominique, when he came in from picking with his workers, and tasting some of his great wines. Another highlight was the restored medieval town of Perouges. Our guide Olivier was friendly, informative and relaxed, and his van very comfortable.
Three of us went on the Beaujolais and Perouges tour with Olivier, and we had an amazing time. Olivier provided so much interesting information about the places we visited, and the itinerary he selected provided a great introduction to the region around Lyon. We thoroughly enjoyed the visit to the Beaujolais winery, and loved seeing the enthusiasm of the vintner. The wines we sampled were excellent, and we were sorry that there was no easy, inexpensive way for us to bring any back to the US. Perouges ruined all other medieval villages for us. There was almost no one there when we visited, and Olivier provided an informative introduction to the lovely town. We were given just enough free time to wander through a few shops and try the delicious galette that's the village's specialty. The restaurant where we stopped for lunch was also excellent, and it was a pleasure to eat with Olivier and get to know more about his business and his life in Lyon. Overall, we had a wonderful day with Olivier. The pacing of the tour was perfect-- we never spent too long anywhere, but we also never felt rushed. Olivier has clearly put in a lot of work to choosing his itineraries and researching the places the tours visit. I highly recommend taking one of his tours!
This was the first for me to visit real wine countryside. Stunning views with some excellent wine tasting from wines of the region. Olivier was really knowledgeable and his English is perfect. From understanding the important factors for making great wine through to the processes involved from grape vine to bottle, this was a great introduction to the art of wine making and production. Well worth the time and money.
We just got back from the small group tour with Justine to Beaujolais and Perouges. Justine was an excellent tour guide, so very knowledgeable and a lot of fun. While the van could hold 8 people, we were 3 plus another couple and it was perfect having only 5 not this tour. I highly recommend this tour and having Justine as your guide. I look forward to my next visit and booking another tour with this company.
