I stayed at Novotel Gerland recently and had a genuinely disappointing experience from start to finish. The most alarming issue was finding rats in the swimming pool area. When I reported it to staff, the initial reaction showed little to no concern, professionalism, or awareness of the severity of this situation. I approached the manager approx. 24 hours later and asked if this issue was reported to her, to which it was not. The hotel were aware of the situation but they were unaware of how bad the situation was. From this point onwards, we were very uneasy about the outdoor facilities, especially given the completely saturated fake grass that surrounds the area. This area was not cleaned at all during our stay. This is so very clearly, a major health and safety breach for the wellbeing of the guests, especially the young children and pregnant mothers. While dealing with management on this issue, it felt as though they were attempting to "brush this under the rug", but still did not understand the seriousness of this issue. They were completely unaware of the health risks this poses. Staff interactions were consistently unfriendly and unprofessional. Requests were met with indifference. On our final night, my mother asked one of the staff members for more water for the table and the response was "ask my colleague." This is something I have never experienced in any other hotel/restaurant. The final straw was being charged a "rental" fee for pool towels. On some occasions I was simply asked for my room number (I thought they were checking that I was a guest) and other occasions I was asked to pay €3. When I raised the issue that I was not asked the previous time, they looked at me with utter confusion. Upon checkout, I was hit with a €17 charge for towels. Overall, this stay fell far short of what I'd expect from the Novotel brand. Poor hygiene standards, a serious pest issue handled with indifference, unhelpful staff, and misleading charges. I strongly urge the management to assess this situation and carry out additional staff training sessions to ensure customer service and professionalism is improved. My family and I are very fond of the Novotel chain, having stayed with them around Europe. The chain's name has truly been sullied in our family. I wouldn't recommend this property and won't be returning.

This hotel is a mixed bag, we had a suite, which was a very good size room, but the fold out sofa bed was the worst we ever experienced, too uncomfortable to sleep on. The bathroom was large but even after asking 2 times still no one replaced the empty conditioner container. The pool was a very welcome end to the day, especially with 30+ temperature. But it's far too small for this family oriented hotel with sometimes nearly 40 people in the pool at once. Chaos!! The hotel is easy to reach with the tram and there are restaurants nearby. Overall it is good value for money but don't expect a 4 star experience and facilities.
We had a very frustrating experience at Novotel Lyon Gerland. Check-in Issues: I booked a higher floor room (+€20) and requested a quiet room. Upon arrival, the receptionist claimed he saw neither request in the system and placed us in a standard room. After complaining, he reassigned us to a connecting room next to a very loud family. It took 1 hour just to get checked in. No one of course cared about my membership, so I guess it is useless. Fortunately, another staff member (the shift leader on July 25th) intervened, resolved the issue professionally, and was very polite—thank you to them. Room Quality: The rooms are severely outdated, even the Executive options. Breakfast Nightmare (€18/person): The scrambled eggs were inedible mush. Guests are expected to boil their own eggs, but the equipment provided does not work properly, meaning you have to cook your own meal for an overpriced paid breakfast. Unacceptable Staff Behavior: On July 26th, the breakfast shift/team leader literally laughed in my face when I asked to speak with the hotel manager, boastfully stating that he manages the teams and had already done everything I requested. Extremely rude and unprofessional. We will never return to this hotel.
This is a pretty basic hotel in terms of room and amenities. The room AC does not function well, connectivity is poor, bed was ok and water pressure was pretty good. The gym was poor and the location was not convenient to most things people would be going to see other than the Museum. I did not eat at the hotel so cannot rate that. I would not recommend this unless you like sleeping at 25C.
I have to admit that I was somewhat disappointed by Novotel Lyon Gerland Musee des Confluences. We've stayed at Novotel hotels in other cities and other hotels within the Accor chain, but the facilities at Novotel Lyon Gerland Musee des Confluences did not, in my opinion, live up to being a 4 stars hotel. The positive things first: - The hotel is close to tramway T1 stop Halle Tony Garnier (3 min walk) - The fresh bread at the breakfast buffet was good - There are water fountains in each floor so that one can fill up water bottles - The staff was friendly Improvement points: - The hotel has a gym including 2 bikes, one cross-traininer/ellipsentrainer and one row machine. However, there are no mats in the gym and only 1 set of 2x1kg dumbbells and 2x2kg dumbbells - There were no amenities kit in the bathroom, e.g. cotton pads and cotton swabs - There was no toilet brush in the bathroom - I am not usually picky when it comes to coffee, but the coffee from the coffee machine at the breakfast buffet was awful
