Hotel Mercure Lyon Centre Lumiere

Located on the metro line. Clean, tastefully decorated room. Breakfast was the highlight - cooked options. €20 ppd. Underground parking €15 pd.

For good thing please go below. Let's start with all bads: Firstly: omg, there is almost noone who speaks english on basic level which was A HUGE problem, especially with checking out. The person in the reception couldn't explain why we should pay extra for no reason even though during check-in they blocked 300 euros but there is no posibility that we use all of the amount. And of corse he couldn't explain why... Secondly, the reservation was for 2 rooms, one supposed to be with bath tube and one with shower. Both were with showers... The Clean Ladies were so nice but they cleaned also full glasses of water? Why? And the same they changed towels everyday. It is nice but why? But there was also a problem with the tea bags because they were not replenished. And please remember to hold your card with all the time, lift doesn't work without them. The good points: The Staff is really nice, and try to help but language-comuncations problems are just... annoying. But they tried to help and if you know some french should be okay. The rooms were clean. A little loud during the day because of renovation. Hotel is located close to the market, I recommend to step by. The Wi Fi is great. The breakfasts are nice but without vegetables; cheese, ham, crepes, fresh juice, coffee, bread, granola, scrambled eggs (yummy!), sausages and fruits - all great quality. Underground car park is a nice advantage but with very narrow turns and gates. Nice hotel, nice people but no way to get on with, without knowing french. C'est la vie. C'est la France.

Well located and excellent room except for the air conditioner. The breakfast is top, very good, the room is excellent, the staff is always in good mood and in general the hotel is great, but there are two points to remark for improvement. 1. The air conditioning does not work properly. It was warm, because we stayed there during summer time and the air conditioner simply made some noise but afterwards nothing happened, I guess it was defective, the room was not cooldown as we would wanted it to be to rest properly after a long trip. 2. the parking is to narrow and cars struggle to pass and park.

The hotel is quiet and located near a metro stop. The room was clean and comfortable. The hotel is environmentally focused. The AC was set at 22C which was a bit warm for us. They also do not use single use plastic. The downside is that you cannot take water to drink while exploring. Breakfast is copious and good.
