Rhodes Self Drive 4x4 Safari Adventure - North Pick Ups

Great day out. We chose to be driven in the Mercedes 4x4. This had many advantages. Great commentary from both guides, Dinos and Simon. They gave a great commentary, loads of information and took us to some beautiful places. As lead vehicle, we saw deer and other things first, we were free of the dust that the other vehicles had to drive through. We had a great time and an excellent lunch, complete with local folk dancing.. The day finished with a swim stop at a beautiful beach. Great day out.

Great day from start to finish. Wonderful views of the mountains and forests. Great lunch. plenty of stops for drinks/ toilet breaks. Friendly fun guides. What more can you ask?

Great day out for the family! We booked a guided tour with driver Simon. He arrived on time and we collected others along our way whom had booked a self drive. This was all done very efficiently and he kept us in the loop of timings and collections along the route. Simon was as such a great guide, very knowledgeable about the island giving us so much information along our route. Very friendly and easy to get on with. Taking the time to get know us too which was lovely Both himself and Cecile gave a in-depth overview and safely talk to all of the self drivers before heading off road. They were both very good at ensuring everyone was as together at all times which is a task on these roads. Spectacular views of mountains, exciting bumpy rides through the forests with little drink and toilet stops along the way Stop for lunch in a lovely tavern. Food was delicious. Offering kids option of chicken nuggets and chips also. Ending with a beach stop on the east coast for a dip on a more untouched beach which was beautiful Overall we had a fantastic day out and it was a pleasure to meet Simon and we thank him so much for memorable day out in Rhodes for our family

Having had a day out with this crew before, we were confident that we would have another good day out. We were not disappointed! From receiving personal messages around the pick up time and location, to the guide being bang on time everything started off brilliantly. After a briefing session at Rhodes Adventures hq, we set off in convoy with 7 other vehicles at a relaxed pace and no urgency from the guide driver to try and rush things along. They were patient and courteous all day allowing time for photos and selfies along the way as and when required. Their knowledge and history of the stop off points was just the right level of information, without becoming overloaded or boring. The instructions given on driving in the rougher and wetter areas was excellent, and at no time were we concerned for safety or unnecessary risks being taken. A lunch stop was arranged, and although this was an options l extra cost, €15.00 each for 3 courses was excellent value and the delicious food was cooked freshly to order. At the end of the day, we were delivered safely back to our hotel, and thanked personally by our guide for going out with them. One bonus for us was meeting Stavros again, as he was our driver back in 2018 when we last went out with Rhodes Adventures. Thank you a Stavros and crew, we had a brilliant day out 10/10

We were very excited for this amazing day out, however the pictures are very misleading. You do not get to drive an open top 4x4 which we expected. When questioning this, we were informed that they aren’t allowed to rent them anymore. This makes the picture very misleading. We were told all vehicles had air conditioning, however ours was not working. Which with two children aged 10 and 12 wasn’t ideal at all. This meant my wife had to sit in the back to allow the children to have the breeze coming in sitting in the front. This wasn’t ideal at all either. When questioning this we were simply told “sorry, nobody told us”. We were told it would be 80% off road driving, however it was more like 50/50. When we stopped at the ice cream and coffee place, we were overcharged compared to the family next to us who ordered more, yet we paid double what they did. The restaurant stop was ok, food was average. Staff there friendly but someone else with us another family got charged 30 euros more than anyone else. The beach was stop was lovely, and the staff at the bar across the road welcoming and polite. Not expensive either. We also feel being a guided tour, we would have had more information about what was going on and what certain places were but other than that pretty much left to just follow. Don’t get us wrong, we had a good day, the tour guides were friendly and views were beautiful. Just feel let down by the quality.

The best adventure on Rhodes, beautiful nature, very good organization with Simos and Cecile as the best tour guides that we ever had!! Definitelly worth the money!

This safari tour was an excellent experience. The guides of the tour are great, and adventurous. Nice planned tour, interesting stop places, great lunch. I highly recommend it.

We went on the Bumpy Rhodes safari of northern Rhodes , having booked with the local agency near our hotel. The tour was pretty much 'as it said on the tin' and on the day of our trip there were about 10 vehicles driven in convoy across some pretty mountainous territory. For those who like driving in/through challenging conditions/environments this could be right up your street. It's a long day though and, start to finish, took over 8 hours. On a hot dusty day, the driving required serious concentration. The brief swim towards the end of the trip was a relief from the conditions and welcome chance to cool down. We can't fault the company on this but if booking through an agency, bear in mind that while you get offered the change to self drive (it's not compulsory) if you choose to be passengers you do NOT automatically get an experienced local guide/driver to be in charge of your vehicle. Ending up as passengers in a vehicle driven by a non English speaking tourist was not what we had envisaged. Outside of the vehicle he smoked like a chimney (it's not permitted IN the vehicles) so we had to contend with the whiff of his cigarette smoke too. Driver license details were taken for each driver before setting off (and I presume the form they had to sign signed included some kind of waiver/acknowledgement that conditions would be challenging) but there was no questions asked of and information provided for passengers on the day. We hadn't thought about it until too late so had no idea what kind of insurance coverage was in place and where we would have stood if our driver had had a crash with us in the vehicles . if you can satisfy yourself re the 'small print' and feel comfortable driving a 4 x 4 for long periods of time over difficult terrain this could be fun. if you just want to be a passenger, make sure that you fully understand what you might be letting yourself in for. it was an enjoyable trip but DO read the small print and ask more questions than we did before signing up

Just back from this trip and the whole family really enjoyed it. Driving the little Jimney on some great off road tracks! Stopping first at a little rest stop (traditional Greek) then the next is a traditional Greek taverna where the hosts couldn’t do more for you. Finished off with a dip in the sea to cool off Fully recommended and bit shout out the Simos, Alex the hospitable guides and Matteo for the booking information and trip details

Our guides Alex and Simos were great fun and did well with a mixed language group. Sending it off road in the Jimny was a blast and would recommend the trip if you want an excursion that's a little more upbeat than milling about round Rhodes or Lindos.

The main gift is that we drove +/- 120 km ,sharing driving 1/3 being 3, of which 50/60 % off road, which is not the case in past expériences ( 5 % offroad maximum) The staff is really kind and professionnal. I have to name Céline, Simon and their Colleague and 'd like to thank them for this amazing trip. The stops allowed us ti have coffee or fresh drinks in the morning in a Lively bar where we selected our menu for lunch, in also lovely restaurant under a "tonnelle " refreshed with vaporated water, 12 € main plate dessert and one drink. Who could ask more?. After crossing a small river, down to the beach . What Else!!! really the best way to discover the landscape in a funny and secured way. Congrats to the Bump Team. I hardly recommend to inclure Bump Safari in your visit of Rhodes. Kind regards to the Team and new friends let during this unforgettable Journey. Philippe

Cecile and Dino were fantastic. Funny, friendly and very knowledgeable. Be aware that you may have to share a jeep but we had a lovely couple sharing with us and they didn't want to drive, so that suited my partner just fine as he's not the best passenger! 😝. We took the safari at the end of June and it was HOT!! Even with the roof off. The Jimmy jeeps we had aren't luxurious vehicles by any means but when you see the roads they have to travel on, you see why. (Word of advice, if you can get it then ask for the air-conditioned automatic jeep 😂) Our safari was based in the North of Rhodes and took us to several pretty villages. There are three off road runs which are very dusty (Don't wear white 😖 😂) There are some pretty steep hilly parts which some drivers may find nerve-wracking! We stopped at a pretty taverna where we got ice creams and juices and our order was taken for lunch at the next stop which cost 12€ and for that you get a main meal, cake and a soft drink. Well worth it. Each stop was a relief tbh. The best stop was towards the end of the tour where we stopped at the beach where getting into the water was absolute heaven. Cecile and Dino are a lovely couple, very knowledgeable about Rhodes and this was probably one of the highlights of our trip. I do wonder if it would be better to include the price of lunch in the safari price as it would save time for everyone having to wait until the servers go round collecting everyone money for lunch. It would be nice to be able to have a wander round a couple of the villages, to see and buy the traditional products on sale. Few tips or points to know 1. As I said DON'T wear white 😂 2. You may have to share a jeep so be prepared. 3. Snacks and lunch are not included 4. Take a towel for swimming at the end. 5. Take a drinks bottle that keep your drinks cold as trust me, they get hot quick We would definitely do this again, maybe in the south next time.

Cecile was a fantastic guide on our north of the island safari (They offer a North and a South trip depending on where you are staying) . A master off and on road in the incredibly agile Suzuki Jimmy. She took us to some amazing places to see the stunning views across Rhodes, stopped in a fantastic country Greek bar for a drink/ice cream in the morning, and then a restaurant for an a amazing souvlaki for lunch (no food/drink is included in the price, but you get bread, a big plate of tasty food, some local cake and a drink for around €12) and a final stop on a very empty beach to swim and wash the dust off in the crystal clear Mediterranean Sea. You will also stop and discover the many wild herbs that are growing all over the mountains. Nothing beats fresh herbs. One tip is that if you are very tall, you probably won't be able to drive as they are compact 4x4. Although not driving means you get to see more scenery rather than concentrating on not crashing or getting stuck!

Great trip, well thought out, awsome and kind people there. From start to finish a great experience. The also provide you the option of taking photos while on the trip, which i would highly recommend. 10/10 would go offroad again.

You drive a Suzuki Jimny through beautiful landscapes and discover places you probably would never have seen on your own. Everything was super organized, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. During the tour, there are several relaxing breaks, allowing you to enjoy the view and take great photos. The stop at a traditional tavern, where there was really delicious food, was especially nice. The mix of adventure, fun, and relaxing moments was perfect. Thank you very much to the entire team – you really made our vacation special. Absolute recommendation!

A great experience to drive a jeep through Rhodes. Offroad, super offroad and sometimes primitive driving across the road. Many corners were really tricky but it was huge fun. Thanks matteo

Fun humorous guides, cheer up the trip with chitchat and jokes. Returned to hotel, even though this was not provided. Nice course with distant views from the mountains, also driven through piece of river. Nice food for 15€ pp with drinks included, friendly reception and service. End with a refreshing swim on a beautiful beach to wash away the dust. Tip: maybe possible to work with intercom and explain via loudspeakers carriage about what is interesting instead of during the stops. Although this can also cause disturbances or distractions when driving. But guides good and have a lot to say so mss would be an idea 🤷‍♂️

It was a great experience. You drive in a group of up to 8 Suzuki Jimmys (no open roof) through the terrain and the hinterland. There are several small stops for taking pictures and a larger stop for lunch. The food was super delicious and costs 15 euros per person. Closing is a 45-minute break to Seven Springs. Really worth seeing. If you don't want to drive yourself, you're sitting in the back slightly cramped with other driving participants. You should know that. But it was really fun, the two guides were great.

Die Safari insgesamt war sehr schön. Die vielen Offroad Abschnitte der Strecke waren wirklich sehr cool und haben einen teilweise gut durchgeschleudert. Die beiden Guides waren ebenfalls alles andere als langweilig und hatten für alle Fragen eine Antwort parat. Das Mittagessen für 15€ war ebenfalls sehr gut. Man bekam Salat, Hauptspeise mit Beilagen, einen kleinen Nachtisch und Getränke. Ein wirklich guter Preis. Wir kommen gerne wieder!

We had a great time. We saw beautiful landscapes, went into the mountains and did “real 4x4”. In addition we made 3 stops, one for a drink break, very friendly and typical welcome, another for a meal in a tavern. Simple but very good meal at a reasonable price. And the last one at the beach. A nice walk all roads in these small 4x4.. Off season, a real pleasure for our small group, only 3 vehicles Driving on well-travelled roads is within everyone's reach. So what to say about this activity except that it was great!!!! The guides Cecile and Simons are great. The sensations are great and it's the brilliance! The only downside is that bookers don't warn that you have to take cash for certain stops but apart that is great! The lunch stop is very nice in a typical restaurant with good ouzo ^^ Frankly if you can, do the activity.

Great tour with Cecile and Simon, highly recommended. It went over stick and stone across nature thanks to 4-wheel drive no problem at all. We've seen corners where you can't normally get there as a tourist. Both were super nice and stopped again and again to draw our attention to wild herbs or certain places 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Anyone expecting a pure off-road tour is wrong here. For everyone else: A musthave! The tourgides have chosen a route that offers some ambition. However, with the tour they also have to take into consideration the inexperienced city dweller, which you can already tell by the fact that they have to say every time when to ride a four-wheel drive and when not. Aha! So if you already have off-road experience you will be disappointed or book the tour to introduce your loved one to your off-road hobby. The stops made were appropriate and chosen in picturesque places. Especially not at tourist centers. I for myself would have liked to have had a little more off-road, my wife in the backseat was enough. I can definitely only lift both thumbs up here, guys did really well.

Totally great experience, was really fun and we can only recommend it. We would only have liked to have more off-road riding and instead we could have done without the swim stop 😄
