Watching whales around the ship in the middle of the North Atlantic was an out of this world experience. The weather was stormy and the boat rocked hard, so it was definitely an adventure at sea. Still, seeing the whales up close made every moment worthwhile. It was an unforgettable wildlife encounter, with the ocean providing plenty of extra drama.

Great trip. Boat was comfortable and warm and the crew quickly found two humpback whales feeding. Elding emailed us some excellent photos of the whales (much better than mine) after the trip.
Delightful and uplifting to see these wonderful animals. Huge plus was getting the report and pics of the whales we “watched” by email from Elding WW following the trip
Make sure you are dressed in warm clothing. Excellent tour with a great guide - loads of new whale related information. If you want a refreshment take one before you leave as nobody tending during tour until 2 hours in.
A first class experience. Emily our English guide was fantastic. As a Marine Biologist she was so knowledgeable and engaging throughout, one of the best guides we have had for any trip. We were lucky enough to see a Humpback Whale and some Minke Whales. Although my pictures do not do it justice, it was awe inspiring.
Best trip for me i love it 😀 😍 💕
It was a waste of 3 hours, we gotta see only 2 small whales which you can see in mediterenian. Nothing special was captured but insistly crew was saying ohh how luckly we are to see thess lovely creatures. During the 3 hours trip we had, we have seen nothing for 1 hour and i even fell asleep during this period. Total waste of money.
Great experience as we spotted lots of activity with 2 humpback whales and dolphins. Very well managed.
A lovely trip, weather was beautiful. Boat in excellent condition, very comfortable and our tour guide very knowledgeable.
An awesome experience. I have been on three of these tours now and every time I’ve been very fortunate to see a whale: this time was the same, but the whale (banana) kept showing up! We saw minkie whales as well as lots of sea birds and the beautiful Reykjavik harbour. The tour was well organised and although it was bitterly cold outside there are jackets to wear if you wanted: I would thoroughly recommend this tour and maybe I’ll do it again when I’m next back to Iceland.
We saw Minky and Humpback whales...an absolute bucket list for me. Wrap up warm!!! Nice boat.. great little exhibition as part of tour.. nice onboard facilities...great
The staff was fun and very knowledgeable. We saw multiple whale species and dolphins! The boat was not too crowded. For those of you worried about motion sickness- The boat was large enough that it was not an issue, even though we are typically prone to motion sickness.
An exciting morning on the water hunting for Whales and Dolphins. We spotted Minky Whales and a pod of dolphins and enjoyed the views.
Enjoyable boat trip to try and see whales. We were very lucky to see two humpback whales and dolphins - playing together. Close by! Emily, the guide, was very knowledgeable and interesting. All the crew were very friendly. Slightly rough seas but fortunately we don’t suffer from sickness - free tablets for those that felt poorly available!!
Absolutely brilliant! Elding staff were informative and friendly. Best excursion of our trip! Saw 7 humpbacks up close!
We had an amazing time whale watching yesterday with Elding. We didn't get many photos of the Minke Whales, so I emailed the company and they sent me the images they took. Which was awesome. Would highly recommend as we smiled and laughed the whole time.
A good sized boat with enough snack amenities to last you the three hour trip. Very knowledgable guide, albeit a little quiet if you travel on the top deck. Very smooth day weather-wise but some people were still seasick. Be warned! We saw a couple of minke whales - one at the start and one at the end. The company say they will email us pictures of the sightings, so that will be cool.
We went to this activity with my friend with a last minute decision. The staff who welcomed us aboard weren’t really smiling and it didn’t feel welcoming. The person was on top of the boat, guiding us where to see the animals wasn’t really great with her intonation so it was very hard to understand what she was saying. Her voice fluctuated a lot and it got annoying fast. Other than that, whales themselves were amazing. But if you are short, it is kinda hard to see them when there are people in front of you. Maybe they could find a solution to that.
Was a great experience. We saw 2 humpback whales and dolphins close up and is now an amazing memory I will cherish always. The duration was also good enough.
fantastic experience and a clear and understanding explanation about the whales and the ocean
Absolutely amazing! Saw porpoises, a minky whale and 7 humpback whales! The guide was so knowledgeable. A completely breathtaking experience!
The whale watching trip was cancelled due to weather, but the tour operators were very communicative
The whale watching was fantastic, we sailed out during sunrise, which was an extra treat. We saw lots of whales and dolphins. The organization of the boat, the kindness of the crew added an extra experience to the trip.
Oh my! This was an excellent trip and a must-do for anyone visiting Iceland. The boat was large and more than enough room for everyone to be comfortable and see. Complimentary warm and water proof overalls are provided and recommended if spending all the time on deck. The guide on the trip was an expert in marine wildlife and was incredibly knowledgeable and communicative of what we were seeing… Speaking of which…on this trip was had 8 whale sightings!! The vessel approached with caution and gave the whales plenty of space. (Of course, sightings are never guaranteed) All in all…a great thing to do and with the money
We did get to see some whales which was great but there were too many people on deck. We ended up just going inside and enjoyed it better without people on top of us
Dress warmly but the boat also provides a jumpsuit and blankets. Get your camera ready for the whale tails cresting !
An excellent trip with a very good guide. Saw 5 Humpback whales. Very difficult to get good photos but the guide got some great photos which were emailed on after the trip. Don’t arrange a pick up a taxi is cheaper but a great trip.
It was unique experience, the German lady guide was amazing
Great experience very safe knowledge guides happy to provide education about the whale species and conservations efforts. Also gave a link to the photos that they took of the whales.
Was only 2 hours, not 3. It was well run but The boat is crowded. Good naturalist and they offer to send you the professional photos for free.
Trip was booked last minute price was very high for 3 hours which was prob. . More 2.5 hours cause other passengers felt sick . We did see about 3 or 4 whales at different point but we’re a fair way away. Not anywhere near the same value as golden circle or south coast tours which were similar price,
This was an incredible start to my first Iceland trip. The crew was clear about directing where to get overalls since it was a very chilly day. They also were good at spotting the various wildlife and navigating towards them without scaring them away.
Had a great time and it was quite enjoyable, even though we only saw one whale, but we did see plenty of dolphins. The tour instructor was very knowledgeable. The ship was very clean and the day was quite beautiful.
Very enthusiastic and professional tour guide. Saw two minke whales, three humpback whales and a group of dolphins. Ten out of ten!
The three-hour excursion felt rather long given that we only spotted two whales, with approximately 30 minutes of actual whale watching. Much of the trip was relatively uneventful. Additionally, the boat’s sound system could use an upgrade, as it was difficult to hear the guide’s commentary and the interesting information she was sharing
Great service friendly crew very knowledgeable saw dolphins and whales Weather was beautiful great time
I didn't know what to expect doing this tour in October, which is not the main whale season, but we had a great time! The guide was excellent and provided a lot of interesting information throughout. We saw a small group of dolphins and were extremely lucky to see a humpback whale breach twice! The whale also hung around near the boat for a while and we were able to observe it for a good amount of time. It was also just fun being out on the water. We were given free coveralls which kept us warm above deck. The crew also handed out free sea sickness medicine (we didnt need it) and were very attentive. One crew member was going around offering to take pictures for people, which was very nice. The company also shares a Dropbox link of photos from the day for free. Highly recommend this tour!
such an amazing experience. i was thinking of booking a second tour while the first one hasn’t even ended yet! would 10000% do again.
Really well organised and respectful of the whales
Fantastic experience! We saw three humpback whales and were able to watch them for a long period of time - it was amazing - the captain and crew were tremendous!
A great experience and the highlight of our Iceland trip. The guides we were with were very educational and ensured we had a great time. A truly must stop while in Iceland.
A truly great experience! We saw three humpback whales, which was absolutely amazing. Despite the somewhat rough seas, the staff were incredibly attentive to everyone’s well-being. They were so kind, helpful, and caring throughout the trip. Highly recommended!
Amazing experience. So easy and straight forward, we see 3 humpback whales close and dolphins. Highly recommend
We loved our whale watching tour with Elding. The team truly went above and beyond for us, and we were so impressed by their care. They provided thoughtful touches like sea sickness tablets and constantly checked in to make sure all the guests were doing well throughout the trip. The information shared by the staff during the tour was also fantastic and highly engaging. As an added bonus, their gift shop was really good and very affordable. Highly recommend!
Very good trip. Bit difficult to see some of the whales due to crowds
It was a beautiful day with the sun shining. The staff helped us if anyone was feeling sea sick. We were able to travel out and see 3 humpback whales and many white beaked dolphins. And to top it off , the company gave us photos they took on the tour for free.
Excellent experience with Elding Whale Watching we had lots of fun looking for whales. Friendly staff and spacious boat to roam around. Free red overalls for cold sensitivie people. Anna the Marine Biologist is very informative. We saw I think 4 whales today,October 6, 2026.
Brilliant. Weather was good to us, a bit choppy but dry. The crew knew exactly where to look and the guide/commenry was spot on. Booked same day and didnt dissapoint
I highly recommend Elding Whale Watching tours. The boat is very big, safe and weather protected. The highlight was having commentary from a marine biologist to explain about the whales we might see. There was another marine biologist available to answer questions also. We were lucky and saw 5 humpback whales. Watching them whilst having their behaviour etc ex0lained was a great educational experience.
Great trip. They did a great job providing all the necessities. We were very impressed with the care given to those who were seasick. We watched from a distance but were very impressed with the personal care given. Loved the warm clothes provided—much needed!
