We have just returned to our hotel after the most wonderful day visiting four sites on the Golden Circle tour. What a breathtakingly beautiful part of the world!! We have made memories together, as a family, that will last a lifetime. We visited Pingvellir, Gullfoss, Geysir and Kerid in one day. Pick up was at 8am from the bus terminal, and we were dropped back in Reykjavik at 3pm so a full on but very worth while day. (We are on the Northern Lights part of the tour this evening!) We had a fabulous tour guide, Stefan A, who also doubled as the driver. We happily listened to everything he had to tell us about the areas we were driving through, and the advice he gave us about each site. He even kept our 10 year old daughter engaged in the whole day which is quite impressive. This lovely gentleman is an absolute asset to Reykjavik Excursions!!

Had a wonderful tour guided by Inga, would definitely recommend to anyone visiting Iceland
The Tour was so nice especially our tour guide Gudjon Jes. He made this whole day very interesting and wholesome:)
Ritchie & Pavel - this was our first time in Iceland and we don’t usually do these types of excursions. However this is really worth doing, the 3 stops are amazing and so nice to see such wonders of the world still intact and protected. There were toilets and a shop/cafe at each stop which was great. The tour was made extra special by having a great host and driver who gave such honest facts and really knew their history and are clearly passionate about the country. Would highly recommend.
I really enjoyed my 6.5 hour golden ring tour with our guide Thor and driver Maggi. Thor was very knowledegable and did a great job!
Björgvon and Steinhunn Hardardottir were amazing guids. Thanks for your Support
Exploring the Golden Circle and visiting the tomato greenhouse was an unforgettable experience. The landscapes were absolutely breathtaking, and the greenhouse visit was both unique and fascinating. A special thank you to our amazing guide, Gudjon, whose knowledge, humor, and passion truly brought the day to life. He made every stop more meaningful with his stories and insights. Equally wonderful was our driver, Tommi, who ensured a smooth, safe, and comfortable journey throughout. Together, they made the entire experience feel effortless and truly special. Highly recommended!
We had the BEST tour guide and bus driver for our golden circle tour!!! Rosa Maria and Lasso ROCKED and made sure everyone was safe and had a great day. It was a truly wonderful day. We had just enough time at each stop and Rosa Maria was a huge help in taking group photos and taking us to the best spots. She had amazing energy and truly made the day special. She is SOOO knowledgeable about Iceland!!!
Excellent time - my gf and I really enjoyed our time with guide Marianne who was local, knowledgeable, and answered all our questions about Iceland. Really excellent.
Well organized, basic budget tour with three stops. Driver and guide were friendly, but guide’s English and information/stories could be better. Tour changed the Northern Lights start time to one hour later without a written notification (booked via TripAdvisor). As with most things in Iceland, everything felt clean and safe, and weather dependent.
Brilliant trip, hats off to Kajus our driver as the weather was very wet, windy and snowy and I would definitely not want to drive a 4x4 around. Let alone a bus. Gudjon our guide was very knowledgeable and gave us a lot of information about place we drove past and stopped at. We see geezers erupt, waterfalls, and the North American/European plate. The bus was full so quite a lot of people to keep interested and Gudjon definitely did that. When we stopped to view the observation deck at the waterfalls the wind was so strong and we had sleet, snow, rain so layer up and be ready for the weather to change, as it does on a regular basis. The souvenir shops and food places are quite expensive. Unfortunately due to the weather the northern lights sight seeing trip was cancelled but we re - booked the trip for the next evening and got to see some amazing views. I would definitely recommend booking the northern lights trip at the start of your holiday so you can re- book later if your trip gets cancelled. Overall a brilliant trip and I would definitely recommend if you want to see the natural beauty of Iceland 🇮🇸.
Albert was our tour guide and parvel was our driver. Albert was very friendly and informative, he was also extremely helpful if anyone had any questions. He speaks incredible English, and I noticed he can also speak many other languages too. We would recommend this tour to anyone visiting Iceland! We loved it!
Our experiences with Golden Circle Direct were absolutely incredible. The Golden Circle tour offered breathtaking views at every stop — powerful waterfalls, geysers, dramatic landscapes, and nature that feels truly untouched. Everything was well organized, with a comfortable pace and time to really enjoy each location. The Northern Lights tour was simply magical. We were lucky enough to see the auroras, and it was an emotional and unforgettable moment. Watching the lights dance across the sky is something we will carry with us forever. A special mention goes to the guide — warm, kind, and attentive — who made both experiences even more enjoyable. Their positive energy and interesting explanations created a truly pleasant atmosphere throughout. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Iceland. These were highlights of our trip!
Tour guide Eric and driver Eirikúr were brilliant. Eric was very knowledgeable and witty and made the journey fun as well as informative, the broke the journey up a lot and made it pass very quickly. There were plenty of stops for food and drinks and sights along the way. Each stop was fantastic and breathtaking. We really enjoyed the day. Also, he gave us the opportunity to relax and rest on the ride home ready for the northern lights tour which was a nice touch. I would definitely recommend this tour and the tour company.
Amazing, definitely recommend
Fantastic 6 hour tour to see the main 3 attractions on the golden circle. “Frosty” was a brilliant tour guide around the golden circle, very enthusiastic and knowledgeable. The tour was very well timed and was the perfect introduction to Iceland for people who might not know where to start. Make sure you bring plenty of warm clothing in the winter and keep your phone fully charged for some amazing photo opportunities of some impressive sprouting hot springs, waterfall and a tectonic plate rift valley! The northern lights tour combo was well worth the added cost. The team were extremely proactive in making sure the coaches took everyone to a spot away from light pollution and with clear skies, and even though on the night I went the chance of seeing the Northern Lights was the lowest possible (KPI 1) they still managed to get us some incredible bucket list views of the lights, so thank you! Group sizes were big for both tours but this didn’t have any negative impact whatsoever and certainly shouldn’t put off using RE.
Brilliant trip with an even better guide, Marianne was a great driver and very knowledgable. Bus was immaculate had an amazing day!
I took the Golden Circle tour in Iceland on December 25th, and it was an unforgettable experience. Despite the winter conditions, everything was perfectly organized and felt very safe. The landscapes were absolutely stunning, especially with the snow and winter light. What truly made the tour exceptional was our guide Marianne. She was incredibly knowledgeable, friendly, and passionate about Iceland. She explained the history, geology, and local stories in a clear and engaging way, and she was always happy to answer questions. Her enthusiasm and professionalism made the day both educational and fun. I highly recommend this tour, especially if you’re lucky enough to have such an amazing guide.
The 1st time experiencing sight seeing the northern lights Excellent experience The waterfalls are fantastic More time at the waterfall
Absolutely loved the whole experience! the bus tour its self drove across beautiful landscapes with interesting facts about different land marks, the driving was smooth and felt safe even in the severe i e weather ( Thanks Mike) and our guide gave us great recommendations for food and gave us tips for taking the best pictures during our journey. ( Thankyou Eric) Overall great experience for all ages!
I recently traveled to Iceland full of excitement and booked multiple tours with Reykjavik Excursions, trusting their established reputation. Unfortunately, my experiences were deeply frustrating, uncomfortable, and even alarming. These issues not only ruined parts of my trip but also made me question their commitment to customer care and safety. Northern Lights Tour: The company transported large groups on multiple big buses to a parking lot in Thingvellir National Park. Upon arrival, the sky was completely overcast – thick clouds blocked everything, with not a single star visible. It was immediately clear that spotting the Northern Lights was impossible that night. Despite this, they forced us to stand outside in brutal, bone-chilling wind for over two hours, shivering and waiting for something that never appeared. The discomfort was unnecessary and felt exploitative. Fellow tourists were visibly upset, with one openly commenting, “The company just wants the money” – a feeling shared by many. According to Reykjavik Excursions’ own policy (stated on their website), they cancel tours and offer full refunds or rebooking when conditions are clearly unfavorable, precisely to avoid situations like this: “standing outside in bad weather with little to no chance of seeing the aurora.” Yet, on this night, they chose to proceed anyway. In comparison, many other reputable operators (such as Arctic Adventures or smaller groups) more consistently cancel under full cloud cover, prioritizing ethics and customer experience over running the tour regardless. Golden Circle Day Tour: This was no better. The driver was distracted and nearly rear-ended a car ahead of us – only slamming on the brakes at the last second after passengers shouted warnings. It was a terrifying moment that left everyone shaken and questioning safety standards on a busy tour bus. To make matters worse, the tour departed significantly later than similar Golden Circle excursions from competitors (many start earlier in the morning for optimal daylight). This meant rushed stops and far less time to properly enjoy iconic sites like Gullfoss, Geysir, and Thingvellir during peak winter daylight hours. We missed out on photo opportunities and peaceful exploration because of the shortened schedule. These combined experiences – from needless exposure to harsh weather, to a near-accident, to poor timing – completely eroded my confidence in Reykjavik Excursions. It felt like mass-tourism profit-chasing rather than thoughtful, responsible service. I immediately canceled all my remaining bookings with them and switched to other operators who received far better feedback for reliability and care. There are plenty of excellent tour companies in Iceland that treat customers with respect. I strongly recommend avoiding Reykjavik Excursions to prevent similar disappointment. Save your time, money, and peace of mind for better options.
Our guide Unnur did a wonderful job sharing history of the country, the sites we visited, and her own personal experiences growing up in Iceland. The roads were very icy and our driver Robert drove impeccably well - quite a feat in a big bus! We did the “shorter” Golden Circle tour which we found perfect. The weather was so cold and icy we didn’t want more outdoors time! Our night time Northern Lights portion was canceled because of the first snow of the year which made for a very pretty return trip back.
This trip was great, we had such a good time seeing the sights on the Golden Circle tour. Our driver Pawel was great and our guide Mr G was absolutely amazing. He told us lots about Iceland and kept it interesting and fun. Although we weren't lucky enough to see the northern lights, we are able to book for another time so we will try again. Thanks for a great tour, this is a fab way to see some of the wonderful scenery of Iceland 💖
Amazing experience I would definitely do again. With experienced tour guides who were knowledgeable and helpful. Made the day one to remember
Best tour going. Really fun and informative! Kept us engaged and learnt loads of new info. We also loved the Icelandic music while we were driving. 10/10 recomend!
Excellent tour! Dylan K. is very knowledgeable and personable. The sights and information from this tour helped us fall in love with Iceland. We will be back!
A lovely experience, the views were stunning and timing was perfect. Our driver stein was great and our guide Albert was perfect too . Albert was lovely in his ways, and very knowledgeable.
Excellent guide and beautiful scenery. Albert was very knowledgeable and funny. Sadly our northern lights tour was cancelled due to cloud cover but the golden circle part of the tour was lovely.
Driver and guide was knowledgeable and friendly, amazing destinations, Northern Lights were unfortunately cancelled. We had a good amount of time to explore each destination.
Fantastic way to see the countryside and some of the major natural attractions in this part of Iceland. ALBERT was our very knowledgeable guide, and we absolutely loved his detailed explanations, descriptions and dry sense of humour. Probably the most entertaining tour guide we've ever had on a bus tour!
Absolutely fantastic experience. Our guide Linnur was very informative and added her own experience to the facts which made it more memorable. The Northern Lights tour was postponed by 24 hours due to the weather but this was the right call and the next day conditions were perfect. The organisation and communication from Reykjavík Excursions was excellent throughout and we will definitely return and use again
Great guide. Walk to geyser was too long for Sharon with a cane. Not enough time. Bus was high up. Might want to take a van
Albert and Stefan were great tour guides. Stefan excellent coach driver. Albert gave great explanation of all sights we were seeing.
Flosi was an excellent guide. He provided interesting information and kept us on schedule. The attractions were amazing!
My family and I did several day trips with this company, as well as a Northern Lights night tour, and our experience with all of it was great. Transportation was super easy and organized, and the buses we were on had Wi-Fi and were all comfortable. The tour guides were all wonderful. They were so kind and knowledgeable, and I learned so much about Iceland over the course of a few days! Thank you, Reykjavík Excursions!
Had an amazing time, weather was chilly but clear. It was a long day but worth it. Drop offs and pick ups worked well and were very prompt. Tour guides were lovely too. Great experience.
Really good pick up and drop off points near to hotel, tour guide Gudrun had lots of lovely stories and pointed out so many historic and interesting facts on route, driver was also brilliant, but can't spell his name, amazing hot chocolate at Gulfoss waterfalls, we had the best time, highly recommend, thank you for looking after us so well.
Great Golden Circle Direct trip with an amazing guide BG. BG told made the trip very interesting and told a lot of exciting stuff about Island. We highly recommend the trip and BG as a guide.
Great tour around the Golden Circle, and Gunnar B was a great tour guide. Highly recommended for anyone visiting Iceland and/or staying in Reykjavik
Very informative. Fantastic tour, despite the weather. Gunnar and Maggi our tour guides/ driver were great. Northern lights part of the tour was cancelled due to adverse weather conditions but was definitely for the best. Would do again in a heart beat.
The sights were awesome, and our guide, Flosi, was so helpful. He gave us history and background on our trip that really helped us enjoy them more. Thanks, Flosi!!
We really enjoyed the excursion. Albert, our guide, was nice and his explanations were on point! The time duration to visit and stop was always right. Thank you for this incredible experience.
The views were outstanding. And the tour guide Margrèt was extremely knowledgable about all things involved in the tour. She answered any questions we had about the tour as well as other questions about Iceland. Very good tour and tour guide. Would recommend.
The tour bus has outlets to charge phones but they did not work. Our tour guide for the Golden circle tour wasn't as upbeat as our other tour guides. We didn't know if people had to sit in the same seats during the entire tour. My friend and I tried to move our seats because the couple behind us kept coughing and snoring really loud. The coughing bothered us. We moved at the end of the tour to the back, the right side, second to last row. This old man came (was the last person to get on the bus) he first fell on me and touched my thighs (did not apologize for that!) and said these are our seats, move! I said politely if he can please find a seat in the front. He angrily said no, get up and move! His body language looked and felt like he was going to put his hands on me again! I was scared and I moved back to the front. My friend tried to talk to him and said he didn't need to be rude. His response was that he wasn't there to make friends! Then proceeded to talk to other people about Americans this and Americans that while my friend was still in the back trying to leave! We felt very uncomfortable and unwanted during the last part of our tour. For this reason, I would not recommend this tour.
The golden circle tour Was ok but rushed would have liked to spend more time there. The coach driver got stopped by police and received a speeding fine, then he went fast over a bump and the people at the back bumped the heads on the bag holders . As for the Northern light what a waste of money . Why get us to stand for 2 and half hours in the freezing cold -10 knowing that there was going to be no lights as it was only grade 2 I can fully understand that it’s nature but , when I looked at the aurora map I could tell we wasn’t going to see anything. They also said if you didn’t see the lights you can come again for free. But what if you went home next day . Site was good thou
We just wrapped the Golden Circle part of the tour. Our guide, Albert, was fantastic! He's comedic timing is great. As a Icelandic native, he shares what feels like insider knowledge of not just the sites we visited but also history and culture. It had snowed the night before our tour , despite that I felt very safe on the bus despite the road conditions. We are looking forward to the second part tonight where we go look for the Northern Lights. I especially liked his knowledge of Icelandic architecture.
Beautiful places nice food and people doing the trip and also on the trip . Very interesting and lots of good information
Recently, I embarked on a journey to Iceland, drawn by the promise of an unforgettable New Year's Eve celebration featuring fireworks in Reykjavik. This adventure was undertaken to provide the closing chapter of my latest book, "Fireworks: Tales of a Pyromaniac." While immersing myself in the festivities, I managed to weave the vibrant spectacle into the fabric of my narrative. However, the trip offered more than just a dazzling display of pyrotechnics. On the 1st of January 2024, I joined the Golden Circle and Northern Lights tour with Hoskuldur as our guide. From the moment we stepped onto the coach, his genuine interest in each passenger shone through. Regardless of our origins, he engaged with everyone, sharing his encyclopaedic knowledge of the world. His ability to answer any question, coupled with his wealth of experiences, set the stage for an extraordinary journey. Having visited Iceland four times, Norway twice, and even ventured into northern Lapland, I thought I had seen it all. Yet, Hoskuldur proved me wrong. Throughout the trip, he pointed out hidden gems and shared insights that had eluded me on previous visits. His infectious enthusiasm and fun-loving spirit added an extra layer of joy to the entire experience. The pinnacle of the excursion occurred that evening when Hoskuldur skillfully led us to witness the Northern Lights. It marked the first time I beheld this natural wonder with my naked eye, dispelling the need for long exposure camera shots to capture their elusive colours. Against the canvas of the night sky, the lights danced in vibrant shades of bright green, creating a mesmerizing spectacle. For this unforgettable experience, I extend my heartfelt thanks to Hoskuldur and the incredible journey he curated for us.
Golden circle was amazing, seeing where the Northern American plate splits from the Euro Asian plate was very interesting . From the small cracks to a very wide gap
Our tour guide for the Golden Circle was very knowledgeable and her love for Iceland shone through loud and clear. I gained appreciation for Iceland, including the culture. The Northern Lights guides were very solicitous and they gave tips to optimize our experiences. It was a successful trip.
