Some like it hot! Located 45 kilometers (28 mi) east from Reykjavik, Hveragerdi is the charming gateway town to South Iceland that is set in a large geothermal area and is often referred to as the ‘flower village,’ because of the many greenhouses there.
Selfoss town has been rapidly growing for the last few years, much faster than the national average. It is within a one-hour drive of all Iceland’s major nature attractions in the south, including the Golden Circle wonders and the South Coast waterfalls and black sand beaches.
Seljalandsfoss is one of the best-known waterfalls in Iceland. It is approx. 60 meters tall and it is breathtakingly beautiful.
The Dyrhólaey Peninsula is a 120-metre promenade famed for its staggering views of Iceland’s South Coast, as well as its historic lighthouse and wealth of birdlife. It is home to a rock arch of the same name.
Reynisfjara is a world-famous black-sand beach found on the South Coast of Iceland, just beside Vik í Myrdal, which is the southernmost village on the mainland of Iceland.
Sólheimajökull is an outlet glacier of the mighty icecap of Mýrdalsjökull on the South Coast of Iceland. It is one of the most easily accessible glaciers to reach from Reykjavík, just 158 kilometers (98 miles) away.
Skógafoss is one of the biggest waterfalls in Iceland, with a drop of some 60 meters and a width of 25 meters. You can walk right up to it but be prepared to be drenched. It is overwhelming standing next to it.
Vík í Mýrdal is a picturesque village on Iceland’s south coast, known for its black sand beaches, basalt columns, and Reynisdrangar sea stacks. Nestled between the Mýrdalsjökull glacier and the Atlantic Ocean, it’s a popular stop for travelers exploring the South Coast, offering scenic views from its hilltop church and puffin watching in summer.

Only issue hot weather unusual and air conditioner needed and didn't feel like it was working 😕 and can't believe saying we were hot... in Iceland...Thank you Sorin for an Awesome tour...
Wonderful day with Sorin touring the South Coast. Weather was iffy, but it’s Iceland so just enjoy yourself. Saw 2 beautiful waterfalls, Dyrholaey Peninsula, the black sand beach and basalt columns at Reynisfara, puffins, and a glacier walk. Sorin was helpful, moved at our pace and adjusted the itinerary sequence to fit weather, crowds and visibility conditions. Take this tour. Keep in mind that if you choose to walk behind the waterfall, you will get wet -but it’s worth doing.
This is a great way to see the natural beauty of Iceland in one tour. You get to see waterfalls, black sand beaches, glaciers and icebergs, and mountains along the way. This is where a great tour guide makes all the difference so you don’t have to worry about any of the logistics and you can just enjoy how beautiful Iceland is. We got to go behind a large waterfall. Where else can you do that? Being at the base of Skogafoss is an experience you won’t forget. You really feel the power of the waterfall. Be prepared to get wet. The black sand beach was really cool seeing the waves crashing against the black basalt columns. To top it off we saw the glacier lagoon. The large icebergs have a beautiful blue color and the smaller pieces are perfectly clear. I understand why they call them “diamonds” when you hold them up to the light. In between sites you will see amazing mountain landscapes. Our tour guide Alex was great. He gave us info about Iceland and the sites and made the trip a fun and enjoyable time. Iceland is so beautiful!
Sorin with North Escape was incredible! We started the 12-hour tour exhausted from an overnight flight, but we gained a second wind thanks to his tip on when to take rest and not miss a beat along the comfortable ride. The soothing Icelandic music (artists) played perfectly into the mesmerizing scenery - we said “wow” over and over. From mind blowing waterfalls to basalt (lava) columns and a glacier littered with volcanic ash that somehow created a literal work of art to lava fields covered in moss - we were impressed beyond belief. The puffins were an absolute delight to see!! Spending time on a private South Coast tour with Sorin was an epic choice!
Highly recommend! Our guide, Alex, provided a very comfortable, flexible, and comprehensive tour of several of the most spectacular sites on the South Coast. He was prompt, friendly, helpful, and a pleasure to interact with. We didn't feel rushed at any point and were provided with choices such as lunch cuisine and whether to add in a couple additional stops (which we gladly did). The whole experience was highly positive. We would book a tour with North Escape again!
Ended up being a rainy day and Alex gave us an option to switch days which was super nice. We did not switch days and had the best time even in the rain! We visited so many great locations and had the inside scoop on how to get the most out of each place we visited. Was amazing all around 👍 glacier, waterfalls, cave, black sand beach and excellent transportation service.
Alex was a great tour guide! The 6 of us totally enjoyed the day even though the weather was a bit rough. Alex was super attentive to us in the rain and navigating the slippery rocks. Couldn’t have been better considering the circumstances!
Our South Coast private tour with Alexander was absolutely amazing! In just one day, we saw waterfalls, black sand beaches, glaciers, and so many hidden spots that we would never have found on our own. Alexander is not only an excellent guide and driver — he’s a warm, attentive, and truly charming person. He shared fascinating stories, made sure we always felt safe and comfortable, and created a relaxed atmosphere as if we were visiting Iceland with a close friend. The car was perfectly clean, the route was well thought out, and we never felt rushed — every stop was just right. By the end of the day, it felt like we had gained not only unforgettable memories but also a new friend. Highly recommend this tour to anyone visiting Iceland 💚
It was a very pleasant excursion and pleasant communication. We saw a lot and enjoyed the incredible landscapes of Iceland to the fullest. We would like to express our huge gratitude to Alexander, our guide, who was with us and became more than a guide to us.
These places are on the "must see" list. At least once in your life. I saw the incredible beauty of nature and felt an exciting feeling of happiness. I get goosebumps just thinking about being there. I have been to 50 countries, and I can definitely say that our guide Alexander is one of the best in the world. I am very grateful that he was with us for 7 days.
We thoroughly enjoyed our private small group south coast tour with our excellent tourguide. The spectacular landscape and the many waterfalls were really impressive, and we were able to spot many cuddly puffins on.the amazing cliffs. Thank you for a wonderful day.
Alex was a fantastic tour guide! He picked us up right on time from our hotel lobby and made the whole experience so easy and enjoyable. Super friendly and accommodating. He knew all the best spots and even took great photos of us without us even having to ask. We really appreciated his attention to detail and just how comfortable he made the day. Highly recommend booking a tour with him!

Alexander was just great! 😊 As a driver on our Iceland trip he guided us safely and stylishly through the breathtaking landscape. His professionalism and friendliness were impressive - he not only got us safely to our destination, but also shared many interesting facts and stories about Iceland.
