The tour was jam packed with great sights! Our guide Edgar is amazing.

Itinerary
The tour begins with pickup from select locations in Reykjavík. Then, sit back and enjoy the scenic drive to Iceland's iconic South Coast
We make a brief stop at a service station where guests can use the restrooms and purchase snacks & beverages
Prepare to be awestruck by one of Iceland’s biggest and most beautiful waterfalls. With a staggering 60-meter drop, Skógafoss produces a powerful mist that frequently creates vivid double rainbows on sunny days. You can walk right up to the base of the falls to feel its immense power or climb the 527 steps to the observation deck for a breathtaking view of the coastline and the Eyjafjallajökull glacier volcano.
Next, we make a sightseeing stop and lunch break at Reynisfjara. Here you can walk along the world-famous black sands of Reynisfjara, voted one of the most beautiful non-tropical beaches on Earth. Marvel at the enormous hexagonal basalt columns and the jagged Reynisdrangar sea stacks rising from the North Atlantic. Your guide will provide a vital safety briefing regarding the area's powerful "sneaker waves" - note the warning level on the installed signage.
Upon arrival at the Sólheimasandur parking area, you'll board a transfer vehicle to drive across the hauntingly beautiful black sands to the famous DC 3 Plane Wreck. This abandoned US Navy aircraft has become one of Iceland’s most cinematic landmarks—featured in major music videos and films. You’ll have time to explore the wreckage and capture photos (without the exhaustion of the almost 2-hour walk across the black sand field to the plane!) before boarding the transfer back.
We isit the famous Vík church for views of the town and sea stacks
Ascend to the "Door Hill Island" for the most spectacular 360-degree views on the South Coast. From this 120-meter high promontory, you can look west across the endless black coastline toward Seljalandsfoss, and east to the Reynisdrangar sea stacks. Your guide will lead you to the best vantage points to see the massive stone arch—a natural wonder carved by the sea—and the historic white lighthouse that has guarded these cliffs for over a century.
Witness the raw power of nature at Sólheimasjökull, a magnificent "outlet glacier" flowing from the mighty Mýrdalsjökull ice cap. Take a scenic walk to the edge of the glacier’s retreating ice wall and its stunning glacial lagoon. Please note: This stop is for sightseeing and viewing the glacier from the lagoon area. It does not include a guided hike onto the ice itself.
Visit a waterfall where you can walk behind a 60-meter-tall curtain of water. Seljalandsfoss is unique because of the wide cavern that allows you to fully encircle the falls. From behind the cascade, you’ll have a spectacular view of the South Coast through a veil of mist. It is a powerful, sensory experience that is a must-see for any visitor. We recommend bringing your waterproof gear for this stop, as the spray is part of the fun!
Relax and reflect on the day as we drive back to Reykjavík, where we will drop you off at your selected stop.

Had an amazing tour of the south coast with Edgar. Being able to see all of the sights in one day was so nice. Such a beautiful tour
We had a beautiful day exploring with you! Michele was a great guide. He shared info but not too much! Finding our tour group in the pick up port was a challenge. It would have been helpful to have more info before heading to the waiting area. We did think we were going to have more time to walk Vik, however we stopped at the church and only drove through the town. We had hoped for some shopping and time to eat there. The tour wasn't clear on what the stops looked like for lunch, but we did stop for lunch at Black Sand Beach. The line at the restaurant was long and it took 20+ minutes to get the food, but it was hot, fresh and tasty. We had plenty of time to explore all of the areas and walk behind the falls. Great Tour!
Wear rain and wind proof outwear _ footwear despite being summer. Tour guide Lucky had infectious high energy level which motivates you to get going.
We had a great day on our tour! We had Asdis greta as out tour guide and she was amazing!!would definitely recommend
The tour was awesome more so through the mesmerising talk of guide magga ,She made us feel our 12 hr tour like it got over in a flick of second by her relentless, informative narration through out.
One of the best and most adventurous tours we’ve done. The tour guide’s were informative, enthusiastic and fun to be around. Overall the experience was well organized and very much worth it. Italia was the best tour guide.
We took the South Coast tour with Franklin as our guide. A great day blessed with amazing weather. Franklin shared great knowledge and facts, entertaining us along the way with a great playlist. We had plenty time at each stop and would recommend.
We had a fantastic day on this tour! Our tour guide, Lili was very knowledgeable and fun! She told us some great facts and anecdotes about the areas we were visiting and Icelandic culture in general. The views were spectacular and there was enough time at each stop to enjoy them. I would recommend you bring a packed lunch and snacks with you if you want to save money but we stopped off at places where you could get hot meals, sandwiches, snacks and coffee!
Sometimes, the weather has its own plans. What was meant to be a well-organized Christmas trip quickly turned into a series of cancellations and last-minute changes. One of the places I had longed to visit was dropped from the itinerary due to time constraints. But when I received a sudden notice that my original tour was canceled the night before, I decided to take a chance and book a spontaneous trip to the famous plane wreck site—a place that had always been on my bucket list. Winter in the Arctic is unforgiving. With only a few hours of daylight, every minute counts. I set out early, determined to make the most of the limited time. Despite the chaos and the cold, the day turned out to be unexpectedly beautiful. The sun peeked through the clouds, a rainbow arched across the sky, and the guide shared stories and insights throughout the journey. And then, just when I thought the day couldn’t get any better, the Northern Lights appeared—dancing silently across the sky. It felt like a reward for all the setbacks, a reminder that sometimes the most magical moments come when plans fall apart. This trip taught me a valuable lesson: in the Arctic winter, time is precious, and flexibility is key. The aurora borealis is not something you can schedule—it’s a gift you might be lucky enough to receive. Though I lost time and missed a few destinations, I gained something far more meaningful: perspective, spontaneity, and a renewed sense of wonder. Here’s to better planning next time, but also to embracing the unexpected. I’m already dreaming of my next Nordic adventure—hopefully with clearer skies and even brighter lights.
I had such a wonderful experience, breathtaking views and our tour guide Xiao was great. Thank you so much!!!!!!!!!!!!
I've only ever seen these places in photos and videos but to see them up close and in person, what a BEAUTIFUL country! Stunning waterfalls and the entirety of this day trip was an unforgettable experience! The tour guide was great and funny and he got to know us! He also handed out candy which was a bonus! I came here to Iceland for a solo trip and left with unimaginable memories I will have until the day I die. A must for solo travelers!
It was well organized, we paid for a boat ride at glacier lagoon but couldn’t ride the boat as someone else took our slot, it should be more organized to confirm the ticket before you ride the boat as someone else took our spot. We got the refund however missed the boat ride experience. I hope your team take better measures to ensure their group members are not left behind
We did the Black Beach & Plane Wreck ATV Tour Icelandic mountain guides Our guide Gunnlaugur F. margretarson “Gunnar” was great! Took good care of us and not only showed us the Sólheimasandur DC-3 plane wreck but took us on a long ride down the black sand beach for a second stop. His stories were appreciated. He keeps you interested- wanting to hear more. He covered plane wreck, the ancient volcano Katla eruption. We could also see the Mýrdalsjökull glacier. We went in June. Nice day. No rain. Still suggest gloves as part of your attire. We doubled up on ATVs which worked out perfectly. loved it! FANTASTIC!
Very well organized tour guide. She knew her stuff and was handling 3 different tours very effectively with managing the timeline.
I absolutely loved this tour, the weather may of been the let down, yet never stopped us and our guide getting us to every spot, torrential rain strong winds! Yet we continued. I couldn’t be more happy with this tour and personally worth the money. Was given enough time, while enjoying the sites and everything was brilliant. Couldn’t thank our guide enough, even waiting for the others at the glacier he took us elsewhere to see another spot not listed. I really enjoyed this tour and I’m sure those who love photography and seeing everything listed will too. Thank you yet again for our guide.
Nice excursion but a bit long at the end! The weather was not with us but the guide was nice and the places are amazing! We recommend!
Beware! We booked this excursion two times. Money was taken from credit card and stayed pending two times with two different cards. We called customer service. They told us the computer systems were down and they would call us back. We called the next day. Spoke to a nee person that said the systems are down and they would call us back. Neither rep called back. There are only 2 companies that offer this tour. The other, we werent interested in. We asked to pay cash in person since the computer wouldnt make the transaction. They said no and never called back. We had to drive there for 3hrs ourselves. Thanks for absolutely nothing. I cant figure out if the system was really malfunctioning or they didnt want "US" to come. Very unprofessional. Do not recommend. 0/10.
Trip was not as in the iternary, first of all pick Up was late even though I was the first one it Started after 8:30. First of they had skipped both skogafoss and gljufrabui falls and when asked to take there it was agreed and At seljalandsfoss we were given only 20 min and not 30 as in iternary, and then gljufrabui was skipped and upon continuous asking the guide said it is not in the iternary on arctic adventure. Skogafoss was given hardly 5-7 min.
What an amazing day. We saw more than we could have expected. From the waterfalls, the plane wreck to the glacier, Slavi made this a memorable experience.
10/10 recommend. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and interactive with the group. Be sure to bring snacks or buy food at any of the rest locations that the guide stops at. Make sure to wear the proper clothing, especially hiking boots and waterproof clothing. I would recommend wearing multiple layers to adjust as the weather can be unpredictable. Overall the tour was beautiful and took us to all the amazing sights on the Southern coast.
The beach was amazing, as were the waterfalls. The plane to me was not interesting but the land the plane was on was fascinating. So much area with so little life!
Really enjoyed this trip. It delivered exactly as described! The waterfalls were magical and easy to get to. The black sand beaches were beautiful and there was plenty of time to explore and get lunch. We enjoyed the DC-3 plane and then a short stroll on the deserted beach. All in all, it was a wonderful experience.
I really enjoyed Reynisfjara, the black sand beach was beautiful. the Skogafoss falls were breathtaking. I enjoyed the glacier in Vic and the place wreck was unbelievable, I took the shuttle wasn’t brave enough to walk to it in the cold.
We thoroughly enjoyed this trip but sadly our bus broke down on the way and because of the time we lost we only got to spend 20 minutes on Reynisfjara beach which wasn’t long enough. For anyone concerned about walking to the plane wreck, there is a shuttle bus which drops you near to the plane and picks you up either half an hour or one hour later. The only down side to the trip is that the bus is shared with people doing a glacier hike instead of the plane wreck and we had to sit in the bus for over an hour waiting for them. If you plan to go maybe take a book.
Our tour guide Mitch made this an unforgettable tour. He shared stories and tips to enhance the DC3 wreck tour and overall experience.
This was absolutely the highlight of our trip! This was also my 30th birthday so it’s definitely made it a memorable one ☺️. Our guide Vjeran went above and beyond and you can tell he really enjoys it. Thank you so much to him we loved it!
Vjeran! We give you 6 stars! We went on the south of Iceland tour. Vjeran, our guide, well and truly went above and beyond and made it a memorable day. He was clearly very experienced and passionate. He gave us interesting and insightful commentary as he drove us in very challenging conditions. Great sense of humour too. He was even lying on the floor in the snow taking photos for people. Highly recommended.
Let me start by saying Casper our tour guide was amazing and made a bad start to the day better… He is the only reason I gave this review 4 stars. Our tour did NOT start out well. We were waiting outside the hotel at 7:55am for an 8am pickup at the Hilton. At 8:30 I see I received a message on TripAdvisor saying they waited and left without us. I then had the front desk call Arctic Adventures and they basically suggested I was lying and not outside at the time of pickup. Front desk at the Hilton vouched for us by telling them we have been outside and no Arctic Adventures van has showed up. I spoke with Sare several times who was not very helpful at all. Eventually a man from the office called me and had a driver from a different tour pick us up and take us to the first stop where we met up with Casper and our bus. The sights on the tour were fantastic. Reynisfjara black sand beach, DC-3 crash and the glacier were great. Again Casper saved the day for Arctic Adventures. It appears management does not run a quality operation, but the two tour guides we encountered were excellent. I can’t say I’d recommend using this company again. Every other tour company confirmed the day before with exact pickup time amd place to be. Arctic did not. I also didn’t like to be made a fool of and basically have the office people call me and my family liars.
The day was not in our favor. Strong winds and snow made our day terrible. We basically did hop on hop off. Getting off from minibus taking photos and getting back in the bus. Otherwise, the south coast was beautiful! I am in US Navy and the wrecked plane was US Navy that ran out of fuel and crushed in black sand beach. I felt really sad that the body is still sitting in Iceland. The country is making lot of money out of this spot a tourist attractions, which is basically an American military craft.
The sites visited themselves were beautiful but the travel company were not honest with a change in itinerary. When we met at the pick up point we were asked if we were doing the hike (we were not aware there was a hike and this wasn’t an option on our booking.) Part way through the day we dropped part of our group at the glacier for the hike before going to the Dc3 plane wreck. We then went back to the glacier (a stop which stated 20 minutes on our itinerary), to be told we would be there for between 3-3.5 hours waiting for the hikers to finish. When I asked the tour guide to clarify and said we were not told of a 2-3 hour stop he merely shrugged his shoulders at me. There wasn’t even a restaurant or gift shop at the glacier to kill time!! To say we were angry is an understatement. I messaged Arctic Adventures whilst we were there and was fobbed of with ‘sometimes weather can caused perceived delays’. My friend and I looked through previous reviews and saw other people complaining about 2 trips being merged without them being told, causing long and unexplained delays. This is clearly what had happened with us as well. This delay also meant that we arrived at the last waterfall 5 minutes before sunset and had to rush to get photos before we lost the light. I was given a pitiful partial refund and told they would ‘rearrange’ the itinerary for future. We also did not visit a third waterfall that was on the itinerary, presumably because we ran out of time. Disappointing dishonesty from this company and they still didn’t own up to it.
This tour was fantastic!! Our guide Vjeran is very funny, kind and thanks to him we have discovered the best and stunning places of Iceland! Thank you ❤️ Giulia and friends
Last Monday, we went to see Amazing waterfalls, fascinating to see D3 plane wreck and we had good laughs on the bumpy ride on the beach to see the wreck plane. But one place called Reynisfjara we didn't know and missed it cos the driver didn't tell us or explain. Also, we are Deaf so probably he didn't bother to tell us to go and see Reynisfjara. Next Tuesday morning, we went back again and the different driver told us to visit there and saw them ourselves. There was a miscommunication with the driver and us last Monday. I would recommend my friends to book the day tour. Sandra
This day tour offered visits to stunning waterfalls and black sand beach, views of rock formations, and glaciers. Puffins flew overhead and perched on the rock formations at the beach. Our tour guide offered plenty of interesting stories and facts about the scenery and Iceland in general. Our van was comfortable too. A very enjoyable day of sightseeing.
Fabulous day with fabulous guide. Saw some stunning waterfalls, black beaches, Vik, as well as what we had come to see. Plenty of time at each location, relaxed day in a small coach with plenty of friendly info from guide. The coach had some people doing glacier hike and some doing aeroplane so the group split for part of day but it was well organised and when we went to pick up hikers we saw bottom of glacier close up with a small lagoon with icebergs. All in all a fantastic day
It was a long day. But we really enjoyed it. Everything was as expected. Beautiful views and David was a good guide. Would have gave it 5 stars but the seats aren't made for tall people so really uncomfortable for such a long day. But other than that really enjoyed all the stops. I loved that we got to take quick trip into Vik while waiting on glacier hikers. That was an awesome surprise.
Tour guide picked up on time at agreed location. Tour bus is new and clean but very squished seating for normal sized. The sout coast stops were spectacular! Our whole family just loved everything about this trip!
The tour is a perfect way to explore the south coast. Mitch was a great guide and made the long trip extremely enjoyable with his jokes and had good knowledge about Iceland. Really enjoyed the tour. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a tour in Iceland.
This was thru adventures .is . Martin the driver was fantastic and on time. Whole experience was pleasure.
On 2023-06-09, I was a participant in a trip to the south of Iceland with the DC-8 wreck, led by a driver and guide in one person, Mr. Marcin. He did it with humour, commitment and very professionally. Mr. Marcin has an undoubted talent for establishing very good relationships with people, and the ability to quickly and effectively solve emerging problems resulting, for example, from inattention or negligence of participants. I highly recommend this gentleman as a tour guide. Waldemar
I came to iceland and went for a tour where my guide Christopher was of a great help. Such an humble and friendly person to be around as our guide. The information he has about the locations, the idea he had. It was so much fun learning about things and understanding things in this way. The trip became easy amd smooth. We were 7 people on a trip and we connected so well with one another because of our guide. Chirstopher called us the TOT grup, as we were always on time to get to the next location. Have travelled alot but never found such an amazing person as a guide who made travelling easy. Loved it. Its a 5star experience for me.
I really want to be fair here but this tour as we experienced it has room for improvement. First of all, the sights are beautiful, our guide (Christopher) was very friendly and went out of his way to help with photos, exposing us to Icelandic music, etc. But it's just a really long day with a LOT of driving. My biggest complaint was that Arctic Adventures combed this tour for seven of us with the Glacier walk tour for two other people which left us sitting around the glacier parking lot for over 90 minutes waiting for those two to get back from their hike. It's possible that without them our group might not have met the minimum and that's certainly true for the glacier walk pair but I will admit that I was pretty frustrated with the tempo of the tour, being rushed in some places only to have the long wait late in the day. For what it's worth, I tend to be hyper-critical, so take my review with a grain of salt.
Martin was really nice and he explained to us everything about Iceland... I'm giving 4stars because the seat were a bit uncomfortable due to the lack of legroom...we also had two wait 2h because the people who went to the Glacier started late
Jojo, our guide was lovely! Funny and wonderful blend of energy and very caring! DC3 plane wreckage was a highlight for me, being a aviation enthusiast! Recommended
We did the tour with Jojo, he was an excellent tour guide, he took us to all of the places. The weather was a bit foggy, but Jojo planned it well, so we could see the waterfall during the sunset which was amazing 🤩 We were mind blown by the south coast of Iceland, highly recommended tour. Our highlight of the tour was the plane wreck, it was something that you don’t see everyday!
The guide was excellent. He was funny and informative, but gave us plenty of time to enjoy each of the attractions. The black sand beach and glacier were incredible to see. Highly recommend to anyone who is going to Iceland.
Guide good and tour interesting. However the minibus was VERY mini. Everyone complained about the leg room. I am only 5ft 4ins and even I could not sit with my legs in front. I had to sit with legs sideways. My husband is 6 foot - he didn't have a chance. Very uncomfortable for a 10 hour tour.
This excursion was doomed from the start. Weather was ever changing from tolerable cold to winter storm. Bus was overcrowded & air conditioner was on instead of heater so freezing inside the bus (February) went to black sand beach and daughter & I got caught in a sneaker wave even though we were not close to the water (both knocked down and underwater by the freezing giant wave)soaked head to toe, bought a wool sweater, hat & gloves for my daughter at restaurant but no pants, socks or shoes available, air conditioner STILL ON, still freezing, 6 more hrs to go on the excursion. Dropped off ice cave hikers (the driver did take her socks & boots to dry in the front under the cold air conditioner) not much luck, then stopped by this road and put his coat and hat on my daughter and borrowed boots and pretty much bullied us to get off the bus in the winter storm (even though we both said no as we were wet & cold) we could see he was getting mad so we had to take a different rig which we had to PAY ADDITIONAL $4500 Krona each ($32.00) to drive us in somewhat proximity of the DC Plane wreckage. Nothing mentioned about additional fees to see the plane since it’s supposed to be part of the excursion so it felt like a private deal between him and the other driver) couldn’t see ANYTHING in the winter storm and would of had to hike 45 min into the winter storm to get a decent look and 45 min back but I was not going to let my daughter catch pneumonia to go on the hike. So stepped outside for 2 minutes to see if we could see it and take a pic. Afterwords back to the regular bus, returned the coat, hat & boots. AIR CONDITIONER still on, still freezing, was able to catch a pic of 1 waterfall in this whole trip before went to a little shop that sold sweatshirt & pants and socks that I got for my daughter who was still soaking wet. Then when he dropped us off back at the hotel, he went to back of the bus, grabbed our wet clothes and dropped them in the snow and left. I still have my hat missing (still in the back of the bus) I don’t blame him for the weather changing, or my daughter and I getting caught and pulled underwater from the sneaker wave. But what I do hold him accountable for was his lack of empathy that we were freezing and cold and he could of put the heater on during that time, for offering his coat & hat, boots to MAKE US transfer to the other bus during the storm when we clearly said NO several times because my daughters pants were still soaking wet and his response was “ What do you want me to do about it”. But he chose to keep the air conditioning on, chose to make us leave the bus and transfer to other bus to take us to the plane wreckage, for making us pay a total of $9000 kronas for his side job with the other driver to take us to see a plane that you could not see in the blizzard, for dropping our wet clothes in the snow instead of handing it to us. I would of happily given a 5 star if he would of have turned on the heater and let my daughter & I dried off. By the way the heater worked because he turned it on when driving everyone back to the hotels. Don’t travel to Iceland in Feb as it’s the darkest & coldest month in the year.
Honestly after suffering some of the lesser tour companies on the island, we were ecstatic to travel with such an experienced professional tour group. Good John was our guide, and he was easily the warmest, friendliest, knowledgeable guide we’ve ever come across. I would recommend this tour, company and guide to anyone in the world. Easily our best trip of our holiday. Thank you so much artic adventures for the memories. Barry and Simona.
It was longest, most beautiful day! Driving from the capital to the south coast took about 1 hour and half but it had amazing views. Seeing the waterfalls and the plane wreck was definitely worth it.
