A huge thank you to Reykjavik Erupts and our guide Dofiri for taking us through a once-in-a-lifetime journey! Our group was especially appreciative of the patience and humor of Dofiri; we stayed for a while at the Northern Lights because they just kept getting stronger and stronger. I mean, look at that view!

Wonderful place to see this wall of basalt columns in its beautiful surroundings.
Iceland's most photographed mountain and one of the locations of Game of Thrones. Beautifully arrowhead shaped and a lovely waterfall next to it.
There are so many great stops at the National Park. We usually let the weather help us choose the best ones for you could easily spend a week exploring this part of Iceland.
A stunning black pearl beach in such dramatic scenery. A must.

We had the most amazing time in the 3 days spent with Dofri in west Iceland. He was engaging, thoughtful and personalised. The experience brought us many happy memories and will stay with us for a long time to come! It was no wonder Reykjavik Erupts has all 5* reviews! Highly recommended! 👍🏼
Its hard to add to the 5-star reviews below - they're all true! Fantastic, memorable! The Snæfellsökull volcano was enshrouded in clouds and rain, but we still had a wonderful day seeing what we could of the stark, volcanic landscape and listening to Thomas’ endlessly-fascinating narration. He even threw in details about his own personal history. By the end of our trip, we had what we considered an international friend. We also scheduled an aurora tour with him, that, alas, we abandoned after a few hours of driving around looking, unsuccessfully, for a spot of clear skies. He was nice enough to take us out for another tour on our last night that was successful. (Photos are posted in the next review.) We shall return! PS: Some advice for people booking any tour: Turn off your cell phones, watch the astounding scenery, and listen to the Guide (they're Guides not drivers) telling you about the history, culture, and geology of Iceland.
Reykjavik Erupts was absolutely white glove service! The van that was provided was very clean and very spacious. Dofri our guide was very friendly and had a microphone so everyone could hear him explain what we were seeing as well as some wonderful stories and history about Iceland! My parents are a bit slower moving and he was very helpful assisting them when needed as well as keeping track of us all at every stop! Dofri also took us to see the northern lights and was persistent about it-even had us sing as luck to hopefully spot them haha! Luckily on the very last night of our stay we saw them! Dofri went above and beyond helping my bf then, now fiancé with getting the details right for the job proposal! We will be back and definitely will be booking again with Reykjavík Errupts !
Reykjavik Erupts and Dofri were amazing for our recent family vacation to Iceland. Our trip to the Snaefellness Peninsula was great in a 10 person Mercedes Van that was incredibly nice. We got to see all of the sights on an amazingly beautiful day. Dofri took is off the beaten path to see his favorite parts of the traditional route and shared with us his personal stories growing up in Iceland. We started the day by feeding his beautiful Icelandic horses which was a highlight for my 5 and 3 year olds. Dofri was fantastic with my kids even looking after them as my wife and I wanted to go on a more challenging hike. Dofri is great to work with customizing the trip to be perfect for you family. Do not hesitate to reach out to him to make the best trip possible for your group. He knows Iceland better than anyone I've ever met and wants to give you a truly unique experience that will last with you a lifetime, and even better, change your life. I consider Dofri part of my family now from our 3 days with him and am looking forward to coming back to Iceland again!
Incredible! The trip to Snaefellsness organized through Reykjavik Erupts was flawless. Dofri, the owner of the company and our guide, was kind, knowledgeable, funny and very organized / flexible with the trip! The Snaefellsness peninsula includes some of the most breathaking and beautiful sights in all of Iceland. Our group visited Snæfellsnes Peninsula, Kirkjufell Mountain, Djúpalónssandur Black Sand Beach with very fun lifting stones, Vatnshellir Lava Tunnel Cave and the Arnarstapi village which had incredile hexagonal basalt columns and coastal scenery, we even saw a whale! I've also done this tour in the summer and with more light we also visited a few other cool waterfalls and had a blast. Choose Reykjavik Erupts as your tour company and you will have the experience of a lifetime, thanks Dofri!
Amazing location choices and stories/information given! Very educational and fun. Particularly enjoyed lava tube caves.
Amazing tour! We got an amazing, personalized experience with Dagur, who helped create a memory that’ll last forever! The beautiful sights were supplemented with great fun facts, and leisure to go at our own pace. Could not recommend this tour enough!
I can't recommend Dofri and Dagur enough! It was a wonderful experience being immersed in Icelandic nature, history, and folklore, and our guides were very knowledgeable and great to listen and talk to. One of my all-time favorite trips.
I used Reykjavik Erupts while studying abroad in Iceland this semester, and I am so happy they were our tour guides. Our drivers, Dagur and Dofri, were entertaining and insightful throughout the journey. They had amazing stories and took us to many unique places not frequented by other tourists. I would recommend using this company to anyone looking to experience Iceland like never before. Thank you for making my experience in Iceland so wonderful!
All of the tour guides are fantastic storytellers and really engaging to listen to. I had a great time being able to see so many incredible sights and the ride was great as well in a very luxurious tour bus. Would absolutely come again.
This was a wonderful trip. Our guide, Dofri, was very kind and patient, and we got to fully experience the beauty of Iceland. Got some wonderful photographs and memories along the way.
Reykjavik Erupts is, without a doubt, the best tour company I’ve ever hired. Dofri is an incredible guide—I booked him for my second trip to Iceland, even though I felt confident driving and exploring on my own. From past experience, I knew that no one brings Icelandic history and the Sagas to life quite like he does. Dofri crafts his tours with a unique blend of Icelandic history, the Sagas, culture, and science. He’s truly a modern-day skald (Viking storyteller). We started the day with a pickup at my hotel in downtown Reykjavik, and his gentle sheepdogs, Hneta and Kvika, came along for the adventure. Before we set off, Dofri had already checked the weather and planned the day to make the most of the best conditions. While this was my tour, he tailors the experience to fit your needs and preferences. Our first stop was the Gerduberg Cliffs. Sensing my nervousness, Dofri was extremely helpful, guiding me up and ensuring I felt more confident. Even Hneta seemed to sense something was off and stayed close to me, letting me pet her as if to comfort me—such a sweetheart. If it wasn't for Dofri and his dogs, I never would have had such a wonderful experience. Next, we headed to Ytri Tunga Beach, where we saw seals on one of the most unique beaches in Iceland. Dofri thoughtfully brought binoculars so I could get a closer look. Afterward, he took me to a secret lookout spot with panoramic views of what felt like the whole of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula. We visited the iconic black church of Búðir before heading to some breathtaking cliffs, where I could have stared out at the ocean for hours. I was so mesmerized by the beauty of the place that I forgot to note its name. From there, we made our way to the most photographed mountain in Iceland, Kirkjufell. Kvika even posed for pictures for me (and the other tourists there). A particularly meaningful stop for me was a sailor's memorial off the beaten path. It was a somber reminder of the sacrifices made by Icelandic fishermen. As someone with a nautical family background on my mother’s side—fishermen and merchant marines, from my grandfather to my uncle and cousins—I appreciated this tribute. We also visited Bjarnarhöfn (the shark museum), where I learned about the Greenland shark and its cultural significance. I even tried fermented shark again, which I already knew I liked from a previous experience. But I never knew how it was made and I learned that while visiting and even got to check out the drying house. Throughout the day, in addition to sharing stories and the Sagas, Dofri actively encouraged my attempts to learn Icelandic. I’m not a natural polyglot, but I’m passionate about learning Icelandic because I find it such a beautiful language, and I plan to make more trips to Iceland. His help and encouragement meant the world to me. This tour was truly an unforgettable experience, and I highly recommend Reykjavik Erupts for anyone who wants to not just see Iceland, but become part of their own, personal saga!
Just returned from a truly memorable and magical trip planned by Dofri and Dagur. There were 8 of us and we all can't say enough about Dagur's great demeanor, knowledge and patience and without his guidance we wouldn't have had the same experience. We did the golden circle, south coast and upper penninsula - all of them breathtaking! We will be back
the tour guide has been excellent. I advice to do this kind of excursion...if you want to visit other awesome things in iceland this is the best you can choose.
We were thrilled with our tour of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. Dofri took us to a number of remote areas, told us wonderful stories about the area, his childhood in West Iceland and some fascinating sagas. Skip the tour buses and request a trip with Dofri to the Snaefellsnes. We loved the area and his hospitality. It is truly a beautiful area. We cannot wait to visit again. Perhaps Westfjords next time!
