Excellent service, with a magnificent tour guide, Mr. Guitie made the day phenomenal with some stories about Iceland that were magnificent. Truly memorable.

Itinerary
One of the first stops is to admire huge basalt columns called Gerduberg, they are so perfectly shaped into hexagons so they barely seem natural. (may not be accessible in winter)
Visit Ytri Tunga Beach, a hidden gem known for its resident seal colonies. Observe these playful creatures in their natural habitat and capture memorable photos.
You will visit this charming fishing village and admire the unusual sea rock formations with a lot of bird life.
Lunch in a local restaurant - the best place in the whole of Iceland to try the lamb soup!
The Snaefellsnes Peninsula is often called ‘Miniature Iceland’ as basically every type of natural feature that makes the country famous can be found here, including waterfalls, glaciers, volcanoes, lava fields, cliffs and wildlife.
Kirkjufellfoss is located by the Kirkjufell mountain (it is the same stop).
You will also stop by picturesque church-shaped mountain Kirkjufell which is accompanied by a wonderful little waterfall on the other side of the road. This place has become one of the top bucket list items for visitors coming to Iceland!
At Djupalonssandur beach (may not be accessible in winter) we will allow those who feel up to it to try strength with the Stones of Trial.

Booked the trip with GTI because we wanted to see the area without renting a car ourselves and it was so worth it! The bus size was small and cozy which made for a great ride and our tour guide was an absolute joy, you could tell this was someone who loved and appreciated the nature here. The tour covered so many different locations and sights that it was hard to predict what you would see next, we even went to a seal bay where we could walk up to them with only a few meters between us! We would highly recommend this trip if you want to see as much as possible, this area has so many things to see and this is the best way to do it.
Wonderful day. Our original plan was canceled but we were placed on a similar tour with East West tours. Our guide Leroy was the best. Shared personal stories of why he migrated to Iceland. Played a game at each spot where we counted in Icelandic. This tour included a homemade lunch at a horse farm. Got a real taste of authentic Icelandic hospitality. Two days later on a different tour spotted Leroy who gave us both a hug. Highly recommend this tour and small group tours in general.
Cant say enough good things about Gateway to Iceland. My wife and I booked GTI for a Snaelfellsness NP tour. Their tour didnt get the required no of participants and we had already prepaid. Clare with GTI booked us with an affiliate company so we didnt have to go thru the process of credit and last minute rebook etc, then emailed all the info to me. the new tour was identical but also included lunch as a bonus. Good customer service and much appreciated Clare.
EXCELLENT! We had such a wonderful time touring Snaefellsnes! We ended up with such a small tour group that our guide, Thrond, was able to take us to a few extra stops for pictures - and a stop for the best carrot cake I've ever had (Hótel Snaefellsnes). Thrond was so great!! Very funny, kind, and knowledgeable!
We loved our tour around Snaefellness. It was a wonderful way to see one part of the country! Our guide Dooly shared with us some history of the island as we travelled. One of our most memorable things was stopping along the side of the road for fresh glacial water flowing down into a stream! So refreshing! Our fish and chips at the lunch stop was delicious and the sights, oh so wonderful. We didn't get to stop at he Balck church as a lot of groups headed out at once, but we did arrive back early so that is one small thing I would have asked to stop at even if it was busy. Definitely recommend going to Snaefellness!
Had an excellent day with Dooley. This was my third tour with Gateway to Iceland. All have been excellent. All the tours are extremely well organized. The small-group format reduces the drop off/pick-up time and also creates the opportunity to ask more questions. The National park is beautiful. Dooley is an excellent story-teller. Despite a gray, rainy day he still made sure everyone had a great time. Highly recommend any tour on Gateway to Iceland!
We were lucky with this tour! Amazing weather! Small group of just 4 people plus a guide, made it a private tour experience. Pleasant fun tour guide. We saw a lot and enjoyed our day very much.
Going on a small group trip is much preferred to the larger buses. The only slight negative is the van's air circulation was limited. Side windows behind the driver and front passenger did not open, and the vents may not have been working right, so it felt very stuffy inside, particularly when we first started out. In the time of Covid-19, getting a constant resupply of fresh air is important.
We had the most fantastic time with this company! Mr. Sigurdsson and Mr. Dooly were terrific guides. The love they have for their beautiful country really shaped our experience into a very positive one. We fully intend to utilize their company to see the Northern Lights.
Despite of unfavorable weather conditions, our day tour pushed through and it's still a great way to experience the beauty of Snaefellsnes Peninsula! You will definitely experience the dynamic weather in Iceland, rain or shine it's still worth your while. Gummi was such a gentle guide backed with a lot of interesting stories to tell, and he would go above and beyond to meet and exceed your expectations. 🙌
The weather forecast for the day was not good and it turned even worse than forecasted. Thanks to Ian's expert driving skills, we experienced a seriously unforgettable adventure! The rough weather greatly limited seeing the sights as scheduled. However, we did get to experience the raging beauty of Snaefellsnes Peninsula in full glory. Thank you for the adventure and safe landing, Ian!
My daughter and I did three tours with this wonderful company while visiting Iceland. Everything about Gateway Tours was outstanding. My initial contact was months before my trip when the owner answered each of my emails promptly. These are van tours, not big buses, so the tour is more personalized. The guides were the best part, very knowledgeable, great presentation and overall fun. We saw so much of Iceland and learned so much history (and saw the Northern Lights) something we would never have been able to do on our own. I highly recommended this tour company and it’s most kind and considerate owner.
Ian was our guide and he was great! Very knowledgeable and welcoming. I had a great day seeing a beautiful slice of Iceland!
This was a tailor-made tour and Gummi was super kind and informative. You learn a lot during the trip and he improvises some extra stops on the way if the weather allows and people agree. I highly recommend this tour. If you don't like being in a hurry as it usually happens with other tours, this is for you!
We had a great trip with our guide Stefan of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula. He was prompt, friendly, knowledgeable and never rushed us. We got a good overview of the peninsula and enjoyed fantastic sights. We had a very small group of 7. The van was comfortable for the very long ride. We had plenty of breaks from the long ride enjoying the various stops on the agenda. I highly recommend this tour and guide.
I just went on the the day trip to Snaefellsnes in September. As some have mentioned, you do spend a lot of time in the mini bus. It's at least a 1.5 hour drive to get there then the tour took us to 5 or 6 different spots. I thought it was an appropriate amount of time on the bus at that distance plus it's so windy on that peninsula that it was pretty cold. We had about 20-45 minutes at each stop and i was happy to get back on the warm bus once the time was up. Plus, the buses have wifi. Our tour guide, Andres F, was awesome. He was very friendly and shared a ton of history and cultural information with us during the bus ride. I learned a lot about Iceland from him. I was a little hesitant about booking this tour but I'm so glad I did. the scenery was gorgeous and our guide couldn't have been better.
We did a total of 3 tours. We had the same driver each day. Andres F. He was great! Drove through bad conditions, good sense of humor, knowledgeable and thoughtful.
I arranged a private tour for 13 off the Rotterdam cruise ship July 30/19. Our guide was Stefan and he made the day extra special on so many levels. Not only was the varied scenery spectacular (that's a given in Iceland!) but he turned out to be a tremendous story-teller, bringing history and the Saga's alive. And he sang for us in his amazing professional opera singer voice that stunned us with its power and beauty. Very moving! The Snaefellsnes Tour was exceptional, with fascinating stops of interest and beauty and as birders we were thrilled to see several new species to us. The choices for snack and meal stops were perfect, and we all sampled the renowned Iceland ice cream and had a delicious lunch. This is a long day, but worth every second and I highly recommend it if you are returning to Iceland and want to see a new area other than the typical Golden Circle tour.
We completed 3 day tours with this company and had a great time covering much of the southern part of Iceland with amazing guide drivers who ensured we learnt so much about the Icelandic people, stories, myths and countryside. The small groups are a real plus and we left Iceland having a better appreciation of the country and people. These guys will look after you
Very good tour. Ian was our guide and he explained a lot during this day trip. We also had enough time at every stop, nothing felt rushed. I would recommend it!
After the Hot Golden Circle tour we just couldn’t go with another company than this one. Our next tour was Snæfellsnes National Park. Words like „amazing” or „great” are not enough to describe our feelings. We were guided by Ian, very lovely man which made everyone surprised and happy by his stories and off-roads driving during the tour. He explained us how the plants and rocks work here. Logistic of this tour was as well on very good level, one coffee stop on beginning and lunch break in a place with bunch of choices. The National Park itself, better if I don’t say anything about it, just go there with Gateway to Iceland and enjoy this stunning views!
I did this tour with my wife and my 20 months old daughter and we had an spectacular day. Travelling with a small group really made things easier. The sights are gorgeous. I totally recommend it.
Well planned with enthusiastic guide/driver in Arni. Long day so be prepared but definitely worth it!
The trip was definitely a success! The scenery was breathtaking, the guide was knowledgeable, bus comfortable and the weather unpredictable. Snæfellsnes is my absolute favourite place in Iceland and I think everyone should go there at least once! The nature there is different than in the South, it feels more unique and special. We stopped at many great places on the way, some only known to the locals, which was nice. We even saw a seal !! The stops didn't feel rushed or too long - the timing was perfect and the driver would always check on the passengers if everything was fine. I can recommend visiting Snæfellsnes with Gateway to Iceland to everyone, old or young, family or alone, you won't regret it!
Thank you for yesterday, we had an amazing tour! We have been really lucky with the weather and our guide IAN was super nice. He is so passionate about what he does, his guiding was lovely. I really recommend to visit Snæfellsnes with Gateway to Iceland !
Took this trip today with Ian as driver and guide. The small bus was comfortable, as Ian showed us this majestic natural area and told us stories about the history and personalities connected to this area of Iceland. Ranges of volcanic mountains streaked with snow, a black-sand beach, a stop at a natural mineral water spring discovered in the 1700s, and seals basking and frolicking in the Atlantic were some of the sights along the way. Rest stops were well timed, Ian knew what local special items were good to order at the bakery and at the lunch stop, and he was excellent in making sure our group was safe, comfortable, and getting optimal views of these natural wonders! I recommend this tour company and Ian. So much so that I and my friend have booked two more Iceland day tours with this company.
A great tour. Spectacular scenery with a knowledgeable and entertaining guide who knew the local history of the area, and was also able to personalize with first hand experiences. We had fantastic (almost miraculous) weather. Even the clouds atop Snæfellsjökull cleared at exactly the right moment. Would highly recommend this tour at any time, but especially when the road to Djúpalónssandur is open (not in the dead of winter), as this beach is a real highlight.
The tour was wonderful! The sites were breathtaking and we were able to take our time and enjoy each place. It was relaxing being in a small group and the guide was great! Loved his stories and humor.
We enjoyed our day tour greatly today. Combination of folklore, shared knowledge, and unbelievable scenery! Who could ask for more? Plenty of breaks to make the long travel bearable. Guide was knowledgeable and courteous. Glad we got to see this part of Iceland
We enjoyed our tour very much with our tour guide, Mr. Andres Friman. He was very informative about the Viking sagas and Icelandic culture. His way of delivery was very interesting and he was also very funny. My favorite thing about the tour was that he allowed us to take our time in each place we stopped and he would tell us a little something about each place. He didn’t rush us and he was really nice. If we had to come back to Iceland and do a tour all over again, we’d definitely want him to be our guide.Highly recommended! 👏👏👏👏👏
Very good tour. Our guide, Eirikur, went above and beyond to keep the group entertained all the time. He kept the group together and made sure everyone was happy and got what we were looking for in this tour. Thank you!
We had a great time on this trip. The tour guide was very knowledgeable, we learned a lot about Icelandic culture, history and geography. Lots of great stops along the way, with enough time to get out and explore a bit. The drive out to the peninsula and back is long, but there are rest stops along the way, then when you get to the peninsula there were many stops at a variety of interesting locations. We were worried about the length, and being cooped up in a minibus the whole day, but it was actually very active, with about 30-45 minutes to explore each stop. At one of our first stops we saw seals! The birds nesting in the cliffs was fun to watch, and the scenery was jaw dropping.
Excellent tour to the Snaefellsnes National Park with Gateway to Iceland. Fantastic day with a great tour guide who definitely enjoyed sharing his knowledge and passion for Iceland. A day of all seasons we had rain, sunshine ,snow and ice pellets. The visit to Djupalonssandur beach was my highlight of the day just amazing to see the black rock formations and the power of the North Atlantic Sea. Highly recommend GTI tours.
Advertised 11-12 hours, but was exactly 9 hours. We were picked up close to 9 am and dropped off at 6. I was aware that the beach stop would not happen in the winter time; not sure if that explains the 2-3 hours. Seems like a lot shorter than advertised, for the same price. This part didn’t seem right. The tour was excellent. Scenery was beautiful, and each stop was just the right amount of time. Tour guide provided great info, was friendly, and spoke slowly and with very clear English. Lunch stop at a cafe had 6 options, about $20-30 USD in price, and food was tasty; good service.

Lovely tour, kind of off-roady in style, but really cool. Lots of great views and such. The driver was awesome, telling us many jokes and local stories. The reason this tour takes 11-12 hours is the distance to the north-western peninsula around 2.5h drive. In itself, the tour is not hard on the legs there isn't much walking involved and there are is no rush in neither location. Would definitely recommend!

I took the tour of Snæfellsnes with the tour guide of Stefán. All I can say is "Wow!" Not only was this whole entire tour gorgeous scenes from out of a movie or an actual post card, but it helped very much that our guide was so knowledgeable. Being a native Icelander, Stefán really knew what he was talking about and you can tell that he spoke about Iceland with pride. This made the whole Iceland experience way different and better than just going on your own or trying to teach yourself. I learned so much about Iceland, it's history, and what I was looking at on the tour. Traveling with knowledge is so different than just going sight seeing. I would have never been able to have such a good and knowledgeable experience if it was not for Gateway to Iceland tour company and their educated staff. They include everything that there is to expect before the tour, very straight forward business, friendly staff, understanding, reliable and most of all, professional. Snæfellsnes is such a magical part of Iceland. Don't miss our on it's beauty, and take this tour with Gateway to Iceland. You will definitely get the best out of your trip to Iceland with this tour company, you won't regret it! Thank you Stefán and thank you Gateway to Iceland for this experience and amazing memories. Would highly recommend them to all my family and friends. Will definitely be using you guys again next time! :) -Amanda Agate Arizona, USA Decemeber 2017
Two of our tours were cancelled due to extreme weather but my family was fortunate enough to be able to book two tours with Gateway to Iceland at the last minute, Raykjanes and Snaefellsnes. David was our guide for both tours and he was an exceptional guide - so funny and so knowledgeable about the fascinating country of Iceland! We actually booked the Snaefellsnes tour because we were able to be in David's group again. Both peninsulas were amazingly beautiful and David was passionate about showing us the best sights while keeping us safe. Iceland is an amazing country and I would highly recommend this company to see the sights!
I usually avoid group tours because I have been on some that are crowded or slow paced or overpriced but my daughter and I decided to book this tour because I was worried it would be too long a day if we were to drive it ourselves. This was the best decision!! Our tour of the Snaefells peninsula was fantastic. The region is gorgeous and not crowded / developed like some of the other areas we visited. Our guide, Stefan, was outstanding- knowledgeable, funny, easily handled the diverse group and kept us on track and on time. Next time we travel to Iceland we will book a tour with Gateway to Iceland again!

Our guide was wonderful sorry, forgot his name! and it was great getting to stop so many places! And although there were definitely other tourists at many of the places - it was nice that it wasn't as crowded as some of the places along the southern coast. We went on about 5 different day tours in Iceland, and this was one of the top two!

After living in Iceland for 2 years many years ago and coming back a few years ago, this was the first time I had visited this part of Iceland. It was beautiful scenery and made me excited to visit again to see more of Iceland! Our guide Andreas was extremely knowledgeable
about the history of Iceland which made the tour even more interesting. If you have the time, I recommend this tour!

This was a great excursion. Our tour guide was knowledgeable and informative. It was great to see another part of Iceland! Highly recommended!

Out of all the trips I did while in Iceland, this one was definitely the most action-packed. I saw so much in one day- I was very fortunate. My favorite part was the Breiðafjörður beach. I recommend hiking up some of the cliffs because there are a few hidden treasures when you go up. I also recommend getting the Icelandic lamb soup at the restaurant when you stop for lunch- it was insanely delicious and I wanted to order a few more rounds.

My only complaint was the bus or the bus driver perhaps? The tour guide was also the bus driver and as a tour guide, he was great! Very friendly and funny. Although, the driving was very reckless and the bus kept bouncing up and down. Thank goodness I don't have a sensitive stomach or else, it wouldn't have been pretty.

Other than that, it was great!

The Snaefellsnes tour was pretty good! Our guide was very knowledgeable and pointed out a lot of interesting things along the way, although he did slip in a couple racist comments when we asked him some questions one-on-one. I'm not sure if it's a culture/language barrier, but it was uncomfortable. The tour itself would've been better if the weather had been better. We couldn't see the Snaefellsjokull glacier because it was pretty cloudy and rainy, and I would've preferred longer stops, but we still learned a lot and got to see quite a bit of the peninsula. Be wary of seal poo at the golden beach.

Driver knew the area well and added lots of color to the trip. The National Park beach was the highlight. Be sure to use restrooms when available they are few and far between and the National Park ones were closed.

It was great in every way weather and tour/driver he was very professional and informative, a good international group of people made the whole experience very pleasurable.

We had an absolutely wonderful day! Hilmur was amazing. He knows the area very well and is very personable, friendly, and flexible. I totally recommend this tour

Although the tour was generally decent, our tour guide was really not good at time management and spent an excessive amount to time on things that seemed trivial like pointing out back gardens of houses and houses for sale on the coast and we didn't stop on things like volcanic craters. We pretty much spent half the day wasting on things of little import and then had to rush through the rest. We got to the black sand beach and he didn't even want to go down to the beach I snuck out of the group and ran down to spend a few mins taking pictures. The tour ran over 2 hours over the time span advertised. Some of the coast was indeed beautiful and the latter half of the day was better. I would want to do the same tour BUT with a different tour guide.

If you are going to Iceland to see spectacular landscape and rock formations, then do this trip.

Ian was amazing. He was so knowledgeable, funny, and nice. The whole day was very memorable and several of the stops took my breath away.
