Highly recommended. The owner and guide was very informative about the area and you could tell just how much she loved her dogs and how much they loved to be pulling that sled. Hope to do it in the snow some day!

It was amazing!! The owner clearly loves the dogs and they are very well taken care of. The experience is so so nice and the location suits the activity. A must do when you’re in Iceland!
This was a special trip to Iceland for my 50th Birthday & my wish was to go dog sledding. We had to rearrange at short notice due to the changes in weather and the communication and understanding were fantastic from Klara. On the day we were met by Christina who was lovely & then we met Que!! What an amazing and unassuming guy. Funny, multi lingual and a lover of animals. He also happens to be the owner with his sister Klara!! The sled ride was amazing and you will fall in love with the dogs!! Give my love to Bear 🐻 ❤️
If your only doing a couple of trips when you go to Iceland you have to make this one of them. You won't be disappointed. A wonderful experience, getting up close to these dogs, seeing how excited they were when they were harnessed up, ready to go was awesome. Tails up and wagging, absolutely no chance that these dogs were unhappy about work! The staff are very friendly and polite, taking you through any safety advice, very informative about the dogs and the different breeds and its clear that they care about the dogs and their welfare. Can not recommend it enough. Go and enjoy the stunning scenery and the happy doggy energy, you won't be disappointed.
Excellent communication via email after booking. Kristin picked us up promptly from the bus stop and on the way gave us lots of interesting and useful information about the company and the range of dogs they train. When we arrived at the tour site, we were allowed enough time to pet the dogs and take plenty of photos. All the dogs seemed very well cared for. Our guide was very knowledgeable and enthusiastic! We thoroughly enjoyed our ride in the snow! Would highly recommend!!
Fair drive from Reykjavik, but well worth it. Communications were great. There was no snow so we di the beach instead which was SPECTACULAR. Driver was fun and informative and the dogs were amazing. My daughter doesn't even like dogs but spent half an hour stoking and being licked by them. Fabulous scenery and a great experience. Really enjoyed
Just the most magical experience - dog sledding! The owners look after these beautiful dogs so well. These fluffy friends just love running! What an unbelievable experience in the most picturesque landscape!
Excellent guide who was very helpful, friendly, and willing to take pictures per our request. Very approachable and excited dogs. Beautiful view. Overall an amazing experience.
I went with two friends on a dry land run and it was great. The dogs were great fun to play with and look really happy and well looked after. Lots of photo opportunities and time to play with the dogs! Would 100% recommend
My 15 year old daughter and I booked on this dry-land dogsled ride. We loved seeing the dogs arrive and meeting them. The NOISE as they anticipated the run was incredible- then the complete silence once they were given the command to go equally amazing. We love our border collies at home, and I am so interested in working dogs and their training. It was wonderful to hear about how these teams are trained and how they work together - each with their own role in a 12 dog team. Our guide was just lovely, and I could have chatted to him all day. Thank you for one of my favourite experiences in all my travels.
My son and I went on the dog sled in the summer and it was awesome. The owners let us visit with the dogs first. It was cool to see how excited and ready they were to run. The ride was great and the views were phenomenal. We stopped a few times to let the dogs rest and get pictures. All in all a fantastic experience.
All of the dogs were extremely kind and the tour guide was very funny and helped us take pictures! The sled was super comfortable too!
I booked this tour through Guide to Iceland and I provided my own transportation. When the kids were choosing their activities, this was my 8 year old daughter's #1 choice. She loved every minute of the hour-long ride. Honestly I think she would have loved giving the dogs belly rubs for the entire hour. We had excellent communication from the company and understood we would be going on dry land. The dogs got hot a couple of times and we took breaks but it was great for pictures. Our musher was nice and kept the conversation going as we rode along. Wear warmer clothes than you think. You can go to the bathroom in Selfoss if coming from Reynakvik. Enjoy!
We had so much fun dog sledding! We went mid-April 2019. The pick up was on time and the dogs were friendly and so much fun! It was authentic and loads of fun to ride through the barrne countryside with the dogs joyfully running the show. We had a ball and would do this again and again!
This is a review that I have been longing to write ever since I came back.My Dogsledding experience with this company is something I would never forget. The first day that I was supposed to go for the tour, the tour unfortunately got cancelled. But that's the thing about Iceland's weather, you never know what the weather would be like. I was heartbroken but Kristen (my guide) brought us to the kennel to meet all 54 dogs (if I remember correctly). That honestly made my day because it was such an amazing experience just hanging out, hugging and kissing the dogs. They were so friendly!!! But since dogsledding was in my bucket list, I badly wanted to do this before I left Iceland. I emailed the admin and almost immediately got a reply and she booked me a dogsledding tour + golden circle tour (which was not what I booked myself for but it was kind of her to offer to an upgrade). That was fantastic because I didnt book myself a golden circle tour prior. Fortunately, the dogsledding happened and I was thrilled that I had the opportunity. Everybody from this company don't look like they are working for the job, I personally felt the amount of love that they radiated to the dogs and that made my heart feel so warm. Yes this is of course slightly pricey, but trust me IT IS AMAZING and WORTH IT. Thank you for this, Dog Sledding Iceland & Kristen!!!
The dogsledding was awesome, but the dogs were even better. I could not believe how gentle and cuddly they were. I could have spent all day just playing with them. Our guide was great too btw! :) The day before our ride, we were informed it would not be on snow, but a "dry run". I thought it would be a let down, but it was definitely not!! We absolutely loved it.
This was on my husband's bucket list and he wasn't disappointed. We booked our sled ride easily via their web site. All correspondence was answered in a friendly and professional manner. And we were kept up to date as to our pick up time. I was a little disappointed when I found out that there wasn't much snow and that we were to ride in a low cart over volcanic ash. It didn't matter at all. To ride behind the dogs was an amazing experience. The venue was spectacular. We did a circuit along a frozen lake, with mountains in the distance. It was lovely that we were given plenty of time to greet the dogs and give them lots of cuddles, which they thoroughly enjoyed. Our musher Max was friendly and knowledgeable. He clearly had a wonderful bond with the team of dogs. Our driver / guide Christine was nice and friendly and knowledgeable about the dogs. She told us about the breeds. And explained the pairings because of the different personalities of the dogs. There was a nice extra, as on the way home we had the chance to ride out to the coast. The whole trip was amazing... a memory made.
Wow what an amazing experience! Well run tour with friendly staff and dogs! The husky’s were well looked after, clearly loved their job and loved the attention even more! Our musher Max was very informative, friendly and kept us safe - thank you for a great ride! We loved the whole experience and feel it was well worth the money! Would 100% recommend.
We had a great time even though we didn't have any snow. The staff were all extremely friendly and enthusiastic about their jobs, as well as very knowledgeable about dogsledding and Iceland in general. Would definitely recommend to anyone who has any doubts.
The day started with us being picked up by Catherine (I hope that is right). She was wonderful to talk to throughout our journey and is a very interesting lady. When we arrived, the dogs were all ready to go and very excited. We got to spend time with them before we set off for the ride. The owner, who took us on the experience was lovely, very informative and made us laugh. The dogs were very well taken care of and all of the staff knew exactly what they were doing. Catherine dropped us off back at our b&b, even taking time out to show us a black beach, again full of wonderful stories about iceland and it's history. This was an experience of a lifetime and i would 100% recommend it to anyone. Do it!!!
Amazing experience loved our hosted and the dogs. Learned so much about dogs and there training. Worth every pennie for my wife’s birthday
The dogs are great, and you get some time to interact with them during your trip. The time before and after may be limited, if another tour follows yours. The staff are friendly and provide good information about the dogs, their personalities and the mix of dogs that makes a good team. We did the tour in August, and so did the tour on dry land. I would have preferred snow, but it's great fun either way.
This was once in a lifetime and worth every cent. The professional team took us on dry land (mid summer) for a dog sled with very excited dogs! After we were able to meet each dog and take some more photos. I went into the puppies kennel and they were so friendly and gorgeous. Very special experience!
Dogsledding Iceland was the highlight of our trip! We went on May 1st so it was on dry land. We went for a long ride all over the farm with 12 dogs and got to stop halfway through to take pictures. Que was an excellent guide - he told us all about the dogs, and it was clear how much they are loved and cared for! After the dogsledding ride, they let us do a "puppy bath" where all of the puppies run around with you in the pen. I highly recommend this experience!
We booked our dogsledding experience for mid April, we didnt know if we would have snow or not but we did hope that we would. Turns out that the snow melted during the week before we got there. I was bummed at first and really didnt know what to expect. When we got to the kennel and met the dogs my kids went berserk. They absolutely loved every second of it, and honestly the dogs go a lot faster on dry land (there are 12 dogs vs. 8.) . They put you into these futuristic looking 5 seater dune buggy "sleds" and pull you all over the farm. They have really fun suspension and it feels like off roading at times. Afterwards the kids got to play in the middle of the kennel complex with about 15 puppies for an hour or so. This activity is what ultimately made their vacation so memorable.
Iceland is amazing, and I can't wait to visit again. My boyfriend and I did a self-drive, self-guided/researched tour of the South Coast, and absolutely fell in love with the different terrain, the wild weather, and everything in between. NOW ON TO THE DOGS. My dogsledding experience was PERFECTION. The boyfriend didn't want to join in when we were booking, so it was just myself and three other people on the sled. Google Maps led us pretty much right to the location (which was given to us a few days prior). When I arrived, I was told immediately to come play with the dogs! They were so happy and eager for attention. Klara, our sled driver, was kind enough to let my boyfriend come out of the car and play with the dogs too :) I think he immediately began to regret his decision not to ride! The ride began shortly after, and lasted 45 minutes? Klara let us four riders rotate to drive with her. During the ride she spouted off some interesting tidbits about the dogs, about sledding, about how they have to travel wherever there's snow, etc. I came prepared with proper clothing, goggles, etc - but they will provide you with a warm suit if you need it. Easy booking and WELL WORTH THE PRICE. I would have gladly paid more.
Very nicely organized experience. Friendly lovely doggies, very kind people, perfectly picked setting! thank you!
If you love dogs, you’ll love this adventure! Very professional friendly family team run this event, you get to ride and “steer” the sled although the dogs follow tracks in the snow. Dogs are really friendly and the staff give a lot of info. Clothing! They do provide cold weather gear but be prepared! Up on that mountain with wind chill it felt minus 8. Do this folks, everyone loved it. Mark and Debby UK.
We did this on a Monday morning in January (they only work Mon - Friday) and the conditions were perfect - fresh snow and clear skies (when the sun came up!) - we arrived in the dark after an easy trip from Reykjavik which took about 45 mins. The dogs were all excited and desperate to be petted and we spent about 20 mins playing with them before they were harnessed into the sledges. We were part of two groups both leaving around the same time, the owners and breeders are a sister and brother pair (Clara and Hugh, and we had Hugh, who is a top bloke) who clearly love their job and really care for the dogs and own some land which is where we did the ride. There were 4 on our sled and we all had a go at standing on the back and driving as well as sitting on the sled and being pulled. The experience was excellent and if you love dogs then it’s a must. The owners were really friendly and chaytty and we had a great time with them and the dogs. I highly recommed this to anyone travelling to Reykjavik, but you should book in advance to get in.
between horseriding, whale watching, glacier hiking, ice caving, waterfalls, seeing the aurora lights...this was the funnest and most unique exciting activity of my iceland trip for me. they even worked with me with all my schedule and plan changes so i want to thank dogsledding.is with Kristin, Claire the owner and her team. also the volunteer jacque. thanks all.
What an amazing experience! We got to spend about 20 minutes with the dogs before we set off on our hour journey. The dogs are fun, friendly, lovable animals. Well looked after by their owners. The whole experience was one I'll never forget. Highly recommend it. I found the tour guides very friendly and easy to chat to and made the experience more enjoyable. From start to finish top marks!
We were able to book a dog sledding tour relatively last minute (a week before our trip), and were very excited as the tours had been previously fully booked when we were looking a couple of months beforehand. We chose to meet on site, which was near Þingvellir. The entire staff was very friendly, organized, and helpful upon arrival. We really enjoyed meeting the dogs and learning about their personalities. All of the dogs were very sweet and eager for attention. You could tell that they were well taken care of and loved their jobs! We ended up going on tour with Clara, the kennel/business owner, and she was a very fun and personable guide. While on tour, we really enjoyed learning about how the dog teams are chosen and how dog personalities make a huge play in this. We also liked that she gave each person on the four person tour a chance to ride on the back with her as the musher. We did not do many tours on our visit to Iceland, but this was by far our favorite. We would go again/recommend to others! Sending extra loves and scratches to Gramlin, Bumble, and Extra. Thank you again for a memorable experience!
So well organised - and all the crew couldn't have been more helpful. Despite the widely changing weather - brilliant sunshine to a complete white out and back again within the hour (which only added to the experience) we had an absolute ball. We cannot recommend this highly enough (though it is not cheap). Most of all though - enjoy the dogs who were the stars of the show and just loved to be fussed. Simon, Bridget, Jonathan and Niamh, 23rd February 2018
We had a different experience with dog sledding in Alaska. This was by far the real deal! We had the most beautiful dogs pulling a real dog sled on lots of snow. It owner of the dogs was very passionate about the animals and extremely friendly as was her staff. I recommend this adventure if you are in Iceland.
Wow ! What can I say we had an amazing hour with the dogs last Thursday. The trip was delayed a little as the road was closed but this gave us the chance to visit the national park down the road. Once we got started we had such great fun with a super guide and great dogs!
The customer service was great, even though we had to reschedule the tour due to bad weather. You can tell that safety always comes first. They were so popular we nearly missed out but fortunately they added tours last minute. We were the silly tourists who drove their car into snow and were stuck. The team helped us dig our car out from the snow and saved our holiday. The ride itself was amazing, our guide was super interesting and knowledgeable. The dogs were very well trained and one of the most memorable experiences on our trip. Highly recommended!
What a great time! We did several exciting things in Iceland, but this was definitely our favorite. Clara, Q, and Kristin were so friendly and knowledgeable, and it was obvious they love what they do. And even though conditions were not great for sledding while we were there, they searched out and found a spot where we could get the best ride possible. But the best part??? The dogs! They are so amazing! So friendly and outgoing. They are just big love bugs! I would do this again in a instant!
We loved dogsledding!! This was one of the best experiences of my life-- incredible sunrise that made the morning even more amazing. Dogs were friendly, peppy and happy! We loved playing with them and cuddling them. Would definitely do this again!
My friend and I had the most amazing time this afternoon......dogsledding! We were notified in plenty of time that the venue had changed due to the snow conditions...it was a bit further than we had planned on but Oh My Goodness it was worth the drive!!! We arrived and were met by the owners who made us feel immediately welcome. We were told to layer up and then were given a 'sleeping bag' to wear on top!! We were driven to the set off point and were encouraged to meet the dogs. They were all in great condition and were raring to go! There were 4 people per dog sled and we rotated so that everyone had a chance to sit at the front to take photos and also to stand at the back and help to steer! It was the most fantastic way to spend an afternoon...the cold (-13c) did nothing to dampen our spirits! Even when my nose hair froze I was still enjoying myself!! I would highly recommend this trip as the guys running it were professional, friendly and knowledgeable....and they clearly loved their jobs and their dogs.
This is a must for dog lovers. Totally unique awesome experience to go dog sledding in the snow. The dogs are so friendly and the puppies were a special treat!. Lots of kisses for everyone. The people were great. Gave us the low-down on all the dogs and their character. Christina picked us up and then afterwards took us on a little extra scenic tour back to our hotel. She told us stories of the dogs and Iceland. We loved all of it!
