On October 7th, my husband Charlie and I went snorkelling with Emilio, and he was incredible from start to finish. He explained the safety stuff clearly and set a calm, reassuring tone right away. When I panicked (and threw up) and needed to come out early, he stayed calm, kind, and never made me feel awkward. Charlie had a wonderful time, and Emilio also captured amazing photos that we’re genuinely grateful for. He made a tough moment feel safe, kept the experience positive for both of us, and went above and beyond in every way. Emilio is the kind of guide you hope for, steady, thoughtful, and generous. We can’t recommend him enough. Seriously. He is awesome! Thank you, EMILIO!

Upon arrival 15 minutes before the start time, you will check in with the guides at the meeting point at Silfra. Your guide will explain how to use this equipment and how to ensure that you will be warm and comfortable during your tour. You can change in our heated Changing Van and the guide will help you with putting all the gear on. We recommend wearing long underwear and thick socks. This was the highlight of our trip. We snorkel a lot and love the water. This was by far the wildest experience I have had snorkeling! The guide and company handle everything and made it super easy. The pictures turned out great and the experience was amazing.
Amazing experience. Staff were knowledgable and Sara was fantastic, flitting between various languages to ensure everyone was up to speed. A once in a lifetime snorkel and the dive.is facilities were fab, plenty of room to change, safe areas to store your stuff and modern kit.
AMAZING!!! this was such a once in a lifetime experience and our guide Quim was awesome. The landscape above and below water was beautiful and we had a lot of fun.
Absolutely fantastic. What an experience. Our guide Emilio was superb.
It was worth freezing over. Our tour guide Anthony was very patient and informative. It was so beautiful
The staff were very organized in assisting with the gear and the experience was truly beautiful! My son and I had such a great time!
Snorkelling at Silfra was a major bucket-list experience for me, and I couldn't have asked for a better guide than Shanae! I was initially quite nervous, but Shanae was absolutely wonderful — incredibly patient, friendly, reassuring and professional. She made me feel safe and comfortable throughout the experience, which helped me relax and truly enjoy every moment. The crystal-clear water and the experience of snorkelling between two tectonic plates were simply breathtaking! A massive thank you to Shanae for making this experience so special and memorable. I would highly recommend DIVE.IS, especially with a guide as amazing as Shanae!
My wife and I had the opportunity to try this experience. It was really cool to see how the tectonic plates have separated. The water is cold and clear but you are protected with wet suits (advanced). Our bodies were not cold except for our hands since we both used our hands to swim with. Once in a lifetime so would recommend it - if you can swim, don’t have a fear of the depth. We did see one person change her mind after getting in the water. Our guide Laura from Spain I believe did a great job of explaining the entire process and being there to check on us. 5 stars for Laura!
From the moment I arrived, the service was fabulous. All of the people were kind and helpful and fully explained everything. Once in the water, the guide (Tony) gave us information, took pictures, checked on us, and encouraged us! It was beyond beautiful and so very much fun. I will definitely repeat this adventure in a heartbeat given the opportunity! Five stars for the experience and TEN STARS FOR TONY!!
I might’ve missed this in their instructions, but highly recommend you arrive wearing heavier socks, a liner for your legs, as well as a tight fitting T-shirt. Space is very very limited to change into the dry suit. The wetsuit keeps you very, very buoyant, so don’t worry about sinking! The water is cold, but totally manageable because the only exposed part of your body are your lips. It was cold and rainy the day of our swim, but that made it actually more special because when your face is under the water, you don’t feel the rain and it’s a peaceful, beautiful, incredible experience. Alex was our guide and he was terrific
So cool! The experience was such a great time, so cool to explore the caves and you can see everything so clearly. We dove with sara, she was helpful and fun, as well as very knowledgeable about local information and the route!! Would go again :)
It was truly a unique experience! I have wanted to do this for a few years and the experience was amazing. I initially was nervous because I don’t like being cold, but I was absolutely dry and snug in the provided dry suits and “pajamas”. Hanna, our guide, was patient, friendly and genuinely excited…even though she does this every day. It was amazing to see this little sliver of water on the surface and then see this amazing world of blues, greens and browns just dazzle your eyes. Highly recommend!
Armand was an excellent guide! Despite the weather (challenging to say the least), the entire staff made every part of the experience excellent!
Best adventure i love this place
Thank you Emilio for a very cool experience. Emilio was extremely helpful making sure everyone in our group was geared up and prepared for the experience. We loved it and would recommend it to anyone who loves a unique adventure.
What an absolute RAD way to kick off our Icelandic adventure! Denu -our guide- was incredible at making us feel comfortable, checking on us & taking photos. 2 degrees celsius water in the sleet and rain is no joke, but the air suits etc...help so much. I recommend this to anyone wanting to see vibrant colors in the epic Silfra rift between Eurasia and North America. A+++ and hot cocoa and cookies.
I had a lot of fun and felt very happy, thank you.
Great unique experience with helpful interesting guides. Tony was our guide and he was great, with lots of good information. We had a nice small group of 6 of us and it was perfect.
Do this! It was an incredible experience- one you won’t find anywhere else! Elsa was fabulous and so funny! She made us feel safe and confident. The views were stunning, the gear well maintained, the staff helpful and the experience? Once in a lifetime!
It’s definitely cold, but not shockingly so. Wear something form fitting under the dry suit and heavy socks and you’ll be fine.
Exceptional experience even in the rain! Dive.is local tour company were professionals that made us feel safe and comfortable and have a great time.
Fantastic experience. Not as cold as you might think, and so beautiful.... be warned it can be hard to find parking. Once ready to snorkel the line to get in the water can also be long.
Experience is definitely one of a kind, but isn’t truly swimming between the actual two tectonic plate walls which are more than a km apart. There could be a wait to get into water depending on time of day and year. Our guide, Konrad, was nice and waited in line for us. He also took many photos for us so didn’t have to worry about having a phone or camera with us.
Just do it.. I’m in my late 50’s and this was a pinch yourself moment.. I’ve dreamt of doing this snorkel and it didn’t disappoint. The staff are amazing, professional and very knowledgeable, friendly and organised from start to finish..
The snorkeling part of this trip was a 5. Beautiful, clear water and amazing scenery below the surface. The prep for the dive is very long and cumbersome. I would say it was almost 2 hrs from when we arrived to when we got into the water. This involves a lot of standing around in these heavy suits, mittens, mask, etc. The whole process should be improved. A much better experience would be to streamline the process and minimize the time you are dressed and ready and waiting. If the lines are long, have people wait before getting dressed. All in all, glad we went and it was worth it.
Fantastic experience in gorgeous setting. Friendly knowledgeable guide Emilio!
Very cool! So glad we did this! Worth every penny. My suggestion- wear base layers and two pairs of socks. Papi was a great guide.
I am no expert but I believe it is difficult to snorkel on clearer waters that the ones we were on. It is freezing water (between 4 and 6 Celsius) but we didn't want to get out, it seemed so short.
Operator claimed they would work with my family member to resolve her booking and they did not honor our refund request so we could move forward with rebooking. Very disappointing!
Super fun experience! We went at 9am and it wasn’t so crowded as the later times. Our guides Adrian and Elsa were friendly and helpful. They provide you with a warm jumpsuit to wear under the dry suit. Even with that, definitely bring thick warm socks and a wool base layer to wear underneath. The views were amazing.
Such a great and unique experience, highly recommend. The tour guide was great at keeping us informed and accommodating our last minute sign up. As an American on the plus size, I was nervous about the wet suit sizing. I had not read many reviews talking about fits or seeing photos of people similar to my sizing in the various tours I looked at. Luckily, we were able to fit into the suit and I noticed they even had a few that were bigger. (Womens XL fit at home) I’ve never been in a wet suit before. It was a positive experience at keeping you from getting too cold. The team talked us through and helped us put on our gear, it was much needed! Recommendations- make sure to have good quality base layer on. Bring a hairbrush, chapstick, and face moisturizer as they are subject to the water. Book a hot springs that night. Hardest part of the whole event was walking back in the wet suit, it’s manageable though. And your neck will be sore after lugging around your head gear especially if you’ve never experienced a wet suit before, I wish I had brought icy hot. Not sure if this is the same for everyone. Either way — Definitely would recommend!
What an amazing once in a lifetime experience! Emma was fantastic and made sure we were safe and gave us a lot of very interesting facts. Highly recommend
Exceptional experience for everyone! The tour provider personnel were excellent, handled each guest with kindness, efficiency, humor, and expertise. The equipment was clean and modern, kept us very warm on the snorkel in the fissure, and we were expertly assisted to put it on. Our group guide, Arman, was SO great with a couple of our group that had severe anxiety about the experience and created a safe and supportive environment to enjoy every bit of it!! Thanks to DIVE.IS for a great day and highly recommend this tour!!
Emma was the best! Highly recommend this if you’re up for a chilly dip. It wasn’t too bad really. Beautiful clear water❤️
Absolutely astounding experience with Dive.is. The only fault was of my own doing. I have leaned to not just rely on Trip Advisor for the full experience. Please check out their website directly to see their full offerings! I will do this with every experience from here on in, so I don’t miss the above and beyond options.
This was a wonderful experience. Our tour guide Armand was very helpful and attentive. I had issues acclimating to the water and snorkeling and he helped me every step of the way. Thank you Armand to allowing my husband and I to have the experience of a lifetime!
Diogo was an absolutely amazing guide! He truly made the experience and was such a positive and uplifting human. The entire experience was something we will remember fondly for the rest of our lives!
Amazing experience. Anezka was great and very helpful. Hectic check in but after that very well organized. Not as cold as expected.
A unique, memorable, and unexpected experience; an unforgettable family moment. Thank you to the whole team, and to Philippe, our fantastic guide.
Oh, my goodness - what to say about doing this unique experience! It was everything I hoped and more! Sara was our guide and she explained everything upfront. She helped everyone get suited up and snorkeled along side our group. The sights were other-worldly! I wasn't very cold, only my face, which soon got used to the water. The trip down the Silfra was perfect amount of time and so beautiful. I would recommend going early, it gets busy. The cost was appropriate and if you even think you might like this, you will!
Try going earlier in the day to avoid waiting in line to get into the water. Our guide was phenomenal and made us all feel very comfortable. It was a breathtaking experience.
Wonderful experience on the Silfra Fissure Snorkel tour. It's a touch pricy for the actual time in the water (30 minutes), but it was worth it to me. It's humbling and otherworldly to swim between tectonic plates. It's also something very unique to do while traveling and exploring Iceland, which you can't really do any other place. Dive.IS made it easy to find the location, arrive on time, and get prepared for the frigid dive. The guides are efficient and friendly, giving you some time to explore, but they also keep the tours moving along appropriately. If you are self-driving, note that the parking can fill up on really busy days, so it's worth going a little early.
Overall, a very good experience at Silfra! Our guides, Anaiza and Quim were too notch! Super helpful, attentive and funny throughout the entire experience. The rest of the Dive.is crew were much the same and helped the entire group get geared up as quickly and comfortably as possible. The reason for the 4 star rating instead of 5 mainly comes down to how uncomfortable the dry suit was and also how long we needed to wait to enter the water. These factors are largely outside of the Dive.is team's control, but it is still a factor into the overall enjoyability of the experience. Once in the water, everything was great, but we had to wait more than an hour in our dry suits, just waiting for the queue in front of us to move and those dry suits are heavy, hot, awkward and restricting. If a 2nd access point could be added for the snorkeling and/or diving excursions, that would probably cut down the delay by a lot, but understandably, this may not be possible given the size of the fissure and lagoon. We ultimately ended the excursion about 3 hours from the start time, which was 30 minutes longer than the 2.5 hours estimated for the activity. Only other minor issue is that you more or less need to purchase the underwater photos sight unseen. The price isn't outrageous at 3,000 ISK, but it would be nice to have a look first. Due to these logistical challenges, I think this is a good experience to try once, but would need to have these issues ironed out to repeat it.
Our guide Isabella made our tour extra fun, safe and unforgettable. Her humour, warmth and personality were frosting on the cake of an experience we won’t soon forget.
Thoroughly read the email from the company beforehand so you know what to wear under the dry suit. It was our own fault for not reading everything so we had to scramble a little bit. Snorkeling was an amazing experience. Isabella was our guide and she was wonderful. She made a memorable experience even more enjoyable. The water is crystal clear all throughout. I was a little concerned about being cold in the water but I was completely comfortable. Definitely do this if you go to Iceland!
Very cool experience - we went during the 2026 eclipse so it was incredibly busy, but the snorkeling was awesome and the staff was amazing. Would recommend!
It’s cold but beautiful. The dry suit liner keeps you warm and cozy while movement is a bit restricted. My advice is have a great thermal base including thick warm socks (maybe even 2-3 pair). My feet were very cold. And if you’re over 60 a medical clearance form from a doc is needed. Our Chiropractor signed ours - worked great.
Our guide, Arman, was fantastic! He was very fun and informative. We arrived for the evening tour and had to wait a few minutes as the day had been VERY busy— this didn’t bother us at all because we were the last tour in the water and Arman let us take our time exploring. I definitely recommend coming in the evening and with Dive.IS — our group size was much smaller than some of the other organizations taking groups out. The experience itself is so wild. The dry suits are not the most comfortable and if you have any claustrophobia or sensory sensitivities you may struggle. It is especially snug around the neck and your hands and face do get wet and while the water warms from your body heat inside the gloves, it is cold. That said, the dry suit makes you totally buoyant so all you have to do is glide along in the gentle current as you check out the amazing fissure, blue glacial waters and wild algae growing from the rocks. It was both exhilarating and relaxing. The tour company provided tons of information ahead of the tour that was all very helpful for knowing what to expect upon arrival to thingviellir.
Snorkeling Silfra is an amazing excursion and working with Dive.is was a top notch experience. Our guide, Armand, was exceptional. He took time to educate everyone and made sure we were all comfortable throughout the event. I highly recommend snorkeling Silfra with Dive.is.
