Artic Adventures offers a number of pickup points in the Reykjavik area which made getting to the pickup point easy. Transparency about pickup could be improved a bit given the small group however. While the day is a long one, the many stops (covering the expected and unexpected) more than break it up. If anything perhaps more time would have been useful at Arnarstapi to enjoy lunch and explore the area. Jakob was an excellent host. Pleasantly setting the tone for the day, he then took us to various locations with a reasonable time at each. He introduced little sound bites of Icelandic history along the way cutting through the complexity which can make it difficult for foreigners to appreciate. He also looped in bits of his personal story which was a nice touch. On reflection, some expanded commentary on individual locations may be the only minor improvement. Nevertheless, any tour group would be lucky to have Jakob as a host.

Itinerary
After picking you up from the selected pickup point in Reykjavik, we will head towards the western region of Iceland known for its dramatic landscapes - the Snaefellsnes Peninsula.
Prepare your cameras for the most photographed mountain in the country! Our first highlight of the day is a 463m-high mountain on the north coast of Iceland's Snæfellsnes peninsula, near the town of Grundarfjörður. The name Kirkjufell means "Church Mountain" as it is considered to resemble a church.
Our next highlight is a sandy beach and bay on the foot of Snæfellsjökull glacier in Iceland. Your guide will tell you some interesting stories about the fishing village and of shipwrecks that lie on the beach.
Just headed to the east side, we will stop at Búðakirkja, the 19th-century church. The original church was built in 1703 but, due to a lack of attendees, the church was torn down and rebuilt in 1987. In recent years this minimalistic building surrounded by mountains and the rough nature of Iceland became a very popular object for photographers, so don't forget to take a few shots for your gallery there!
Our next stop is a smaller fishing village Arnarstapi. We will be able to enjoy the walk on the scenic coastline and the opportunity to visit Miðgjá stone bridge, a natural rock arch off the coast.

Our tour guide, Arthur, spoke fluent English and kept up a great pace throughout the trip, giving continuous and engaging commentary. On top of that, he’s warm, kind, and genuinely fun to be around. Exploring Iceland under clear blue skies with Arthur made our trip truly unforgettable.
Oskar and Edgar are caring, humorous, and excellent guides!
Edgar provided a great experience. We saw many sites with good time management.
Edgar was amazing! We had a wonderful time and were even able to squeeze in a couple more stops.
It was an Amazing trip and experience visiting and learning about all the history and sites on this tour. Our guide Tomos was so great at explaining everything and also sharing in the fun with us.
Our driver/guide, Edgar, was on time for pick up and explained each coming stop on the full day tour. He gave us plenty of time for photos, and a bit of an explore at each place. He was relaxed and friendly - even sharing chocolate liquorice with everyone. This peninsula gets less tourists, but it's another insite into Iceland. Fully recommend this tour.
Great job Edgar. Long day, many stops, rain on and off, but still worth the time.
Stunning scenery! Such a beautiful tour! Our guide Edgar was so nice.
Guide Maria is excellent and cooperative and helped us kept going for the trip . the trip happened on a sunny day so it was fun
Was amazing experience! The booking and communication was clear. Only bad was cancellation policy with 57 hours company. All guides were amazing, explaned and answered all questions. Thank you very much showing your country to us!!
Edgar is a wonderful guide! He happily shared stories and local information. The churches, the glacier, the beaches, the lava fields, Mt Kirkjufell and its waterfalls were all beautiful! We saw sheep, and horses at several points along the way. The weather cooperated, with cloudy to sunny skies. We would definitely recommend Edgar and this tour.
Edgar is our guide for the 1 day trip. He is informative & will share stories of each stops we visited.
Amazing tour, highly recommend!
Day 7 of 7 d adventure tour. Whole trip was good.
We combined this at the end of our ring tour. The polish guide (Aneka) was really good, polite, considerate and knowledgeable with good accent. The day was busy but it was informative.
Slavi was hilariously awesome & totally made the tour amazing! The scenery & everything was great too!
This trip is a long day of driving around this beautiful peninsula. Iga efficiently drove us safely while telling us about what we were seeing, from glaciers to ocean to mountains. We had a beautiful stop on a beach to see seals but my family and I were thrilled to watch an oystercatcher with chicks waddling behind.
We loved our tour! This day was the last day of a 6 night 7 day tour and we were with our amazing guide Wojtek. I especially liked his stories about local lore and history!
Really good day with our guide Edgar ! Nice trip around Snaefellness, every place worth a look and Edgar is very kind, fun and he’s given relevant informations ! Highly recommended !
We have a wonderful day with Edgard around Snaefellsnes ! We were very lucky with the weather, and our guide was really kind and fun !
Fabulous guide who was great fun and very interesting. Amazing places seals beaches mountains - like being on the edge of the world. Thank you artic adventures for making our trip so special and friendly😎😊😎
Our guide Tomasz was The Best!! He was so energetic, knowledgeable and so excited to share Iceland sites with us. I would highly recommend this tour and hopefully you will be lucky and get Tomasz as your guide !!!!
Tomasz was a fabulous guide. He was enthusiastic and funny. He had a great adventurous spirit and lead our quiet group on a wonderful day of sight seeing and activities.
The view is amazing and the explanation from guide Bjoörguin Hrafn was great and he is very nice
Giuseppe was a great driver and tour guide; very knowledgeable of the history and responsive to questions, and attentive to the group. I liked that he always checked if everyone was on the bus before leaving. The Snaefellsnes peninsula is a must. The geography is of this area is very impressive and filled with history.
The tour is simply a sightseeing tour. MAGGA our tour guide is really great as she has huge knowledge of the history and transfers to story telling the whole trip. It is not easy to have smooth presentation during a 7-hour trip while driving. Thank you!
We loved this tour and were able to see so many varied landscapes and fascinating places. Docile was an amazing guide. She was informative, funny, personable and presented a lot of interesting facts, legends and anecdotes. She made the tour so much fun.
My girlfriend and I went on this tour and we absolutely loved it! It was a 12 hour tour with about 15 people total and our tour guide, Slavi, was excellent. He informed us a lot about Iceland as well as everything we were seeing. He was also very funny and made sure we were all entertained the whole time. His driving was also great! The weather in Iceland is unpredictable especially this time of year (March) and the guy drove expertly!
Relaxing and interesting trip with Magga!! The stories about the history and the fairy tales of Iceland were really interesting.
This was a beautiful tour and our guide, Guna, was the best, sharing not only details about the places we visited, but also about Iceland's history, culture and life at large. It was a highly informative trip, and driving around this amazing landscape with Snæfellsjökull dominating the backdrop, is in itself a wonderful experience.
Did this trip as part of the 3 day bucket list tour package and this was the first day. The tour felt extremely rushed as straight from the get-go we were behind schedule due to pick ups taking over an hour! This was very frustrating as everyone has spent lots of money on this tour and none of us were to blame for this, so minus points to the company for organisational skills. The tour itself also wasn't too fascinating. Lot's of churches and open fields, if I was to recommend Iceland to someone new I'd definitely say to skip this day. Our tour guide also wasn't the best. I understand that part of their job is to talk about the area and history, however nearly 12 hours of non stop talking through the microphone gets very frustrating.
Fantastic tour and an excellent driver Ronan. The experience was enjoyable from start to finish and we would definitely recommend it.
This tour was absolutely worth it. Very beautiful and unique views of coastlines, lava fields and charming Icelandic villages. A big thank you to our guide Thor, on October 25th, for the excellent organization, great storytelling and friendly atmosphere throughout the day!
Great tour of this lovely area of Iceland. Our guide Stefan was a local and very knowledgeable about the area and customers. He was very approachable and provided lots of information and stories. Paul and Frances
It was definitely worth going with the small group on a tour to SNAEFELLSNES & KIRKJUFELL during my short stay in Reykjavik in May 26, 2025. Although the stops were short due to distance we had to cover in one day, they were packed with beautiful views and unforgettable impressions. Thanks to our guide and driver for his patience and punctuality.
We did this tour as part of the 3 Day - Iceland Bucket List Tour. This was our first full day in Iceland and all of the spots exceeded our expectations. The landscape was beautiful all throughout the tour but specially the Church Mountain and the black sand beach. We also got to see some seals, and even a whale fin in the background of one of our pictures! Our guide Slavi was very friendly, gave lots of information and made tour fun.
Our tour guide Slavi was incredible! He took us around the loop of the national park. We were insanely lucky to have had the perfect weather. It was a busy day but we had an amazing time and learned so much.
Ours small bus guide Rebecca was efficient at taking us to all of our itinerary sightseeing spots and adding in other wonderful spots as well. Rebecca was very knowledgeable about the folklore and history of each of the magical sites we stopped to view. Rebecca went out of her way to ensure everyone had a great time on the one day peninsula tour. Definitely a bucket list tour.
My partner and I went on this day trip 09/09 as an extension to our 6-day-tour by Arctic Adventures. The 6-day-tour was amazing, however, we did not have the best experience on this trip. The guide was more like a driver without much interactions with our tour group, he seemed uninterested and unenthusiastic. Although the views were amazing, we weren't able to learn much about the history or facts of the attractions.
There was a lot to see, it's a busy trip, but the perfect amount of time was allowed for each stop. The drive itself was very interesting. Our guide, Wolly was excellent. Lots of good information presented in an entertaining way, clearly spoken and loud enough for us all to understand. I think this tour showed Iceland in a different light than the Golden Circle and South Coast tours; you can see the rugged beauty and can appreciate the struggle to settle this country.
We had a brilliant day Lots of scenery waterfalls and mountains beautiful countryside Our guide Magga was great and great commentary and very well planned day Thank you for everything Ian and Yvonne
The entire trip was like a trip to another world. The sites selected for us to visit were amazing. Our driver, Dominica, selected a special spot for lunch - Matalist- it was amazing food. We did have an issue that was readily handled - I would recommend the buses are loaded with blankets for emergencies
Our group of 10 friends took a private tour of the Snaefellsnes Peninsula in a very comfortable coach. The sites, including two types of seals, dramatic sea cliffs and rock formations, rough oceans, black sand beaches and glacial falls, were spectacular. Our guide, Rebecca, was over-the-top awesome. She provided geological, historical, and saga-based context for everything we were seeing. She also was responsive/adaptable to the differing abilities of the individuals in our group. We were there in March, and the weather went from a little sun, to rain, to ice pellets, snow and an almost total whiteout; but our guide got us safely through the various changes in the environment. Overall a great experience! I feel that having a great guide makes all the difference in these types of excursion.
The views are very beautiful! The sun was just setting at the horizon and therefore the lights were beautiful as we were driving through the snowy landscapes. The stops were beautiful as well and differed from their landscapes. I did not mind the driving between the stops, the landscapes looked beautiful in between and it was worth seeing the important things on the peninsula. Aron was a great guide, he took a cool photo at the Arnarstapi stop. I booked this tour with the 3-day Bucket List Iceland Tour package. We got picked up by an expedition bus, which is great, because the bus is not too big and the group therefore relatively small. It would have been great though, if Arctic Adventures could provide a more specific pick-up time, if possible.
Guide (Domenica's driving and patter were excellent). Was lucky enough to have stunning weather. Locations were relevant; interesting and sometimes inspiring. Interim landscapes / features pointed out were good. Winter so not so much wildlife around but fulmars were good and probable arctic fox tracks in one area. Am an Iceland Guide myself so was hoping for something good and have 'stolen' some ideas! :)
The Snaefellsness Peninsula tour is a must-see. I visited during winter and explored Ytri Tunga beach, the charming Búðakirkja, the stunning Arnarstapi cliffs, and Djupalonssandur beach, where I was fortunate to witness two graceful seals swimming in the sea. The landscape is truly incredible and evocative. I highly recommend this day trip with Arctic Adventure!
We are currently in Reykjavík. This tour was booked for today. 30 minutes after we should’ve been picked up, they cancelled the tour without explanation. This left us with no time to book another tour. Totally unacceptable service. We have had an entire day of our holiday wasted. They do not even refund your money automatically. I have had to request a refund, which may take up to 15 days. I would recommend booking your excursions with a different operator.
We had an amazing day with Carlos, who was an attentive, engaging and interesting guide who couldn't have been more helpful. Advised us upfront about the long periods to be spent in the (very comfortable) minibus, and told us how long before toilets would be available, when to buy food etc. This was probably longer than I would ideally have liked to spend driving, not least as we had our 11 and 15 year old kids with us, but wifi on board did help! Having said that, was amazing to see a less-travelled side to Iceland. Saw some amazing sights, from black beaches to volcanoes, glaciers to huge cliffs with nesting birds, and for the most part the weather cooperated too. It would have been useful to know ahead of time how limited food options would be, as we could have packed more snacks/lunch with us rather than having to make do from a gas station, but that's a minor detail. Highly recommend this tour, and Carlos is an asset
Andre was AMAZING!!!! he has such a positive/bubbly attitude, made the best of rainy/windy weather, added fun and interesting stops, and gave cool facts the whole time! He went the extra mile by making our tour special despite poor weather conditions!
