After 5 trips to Iceland and many tours, this tour was my absolute favourite. Andre was our guide and his energy will stay in my heart forever! This was such an amazing place and the Super Jeep allowed us to get there and what a beautiful ride it was! The wind and rain made it even more of an adventure. This is a tour I would highly recommend to anyone and having Andre as a guide made that even more so! Pick up was great, communication was great, Arctic Adventures did not disappoint!❤️ See you next year.

Itinerary
Join us for an exhilarating super jeep safari, taking you to one of Iceland's most breathtaking destinations: Landmannalaugar! This geothermal wonderland, nestled in the remote Highlands of Iceland, boasts an incredible variety of landscapes, from vibrant lava fields and mesmerizing Rhyolite mountains to steaming hot vents and serene crater lakes. Your unforgettable journey begins with a convenient pick-up from your chosen location. From there, we'll head south, driving through some of Iceland's most stunning scenery to kick off our this super jeep safari adventure.
In South-Iceland on the edge of the highland we can find Hjálparfoss - Help's Falls is another beautiful waterfall in the river Fossá in Þjórsárdalur valley. The waterfall was named after the region "Hjálp" meaning "help" as this little oasis was warmly welcomed by those travelling long distances over the barren highlands of Iceland. The waterfall is split in two with a beautiful pond in front and surrounded by extraordinary basalt rock formations, making this spot a beautiful haven. Hjálparfoss - Help's Falls is another beautiful waterfall in the river Fossá in Þjórsárdalur valley. Hjálparfoss runs in the river Fossá right before it merges with the glacial river Þjórsá. The difference between a fresh-water river like Fossá, and a glacial river, like Þjórsá, is vast. The glacial rivers are greyish white and forceful, full of sediment created by glacial erosion. The fresh-water river's in Iceland famously have a beautiful crisp blue hue which is captured perfectly at Hjálparfoss.
As we enter the Highlands of Iceland we will stop at Sigöldufoss, a remarkable waterfall located at the Tungnaá river. Standing at an impressive 10 meters high, Sigöldufoss offers a stunning sight. A few decades ago, this waterfall was part of the glacial river Tungnaá, with vast amounts of glacial water forcing their way downstream, turning it a muddy grey due to the sediment. However, the installation of the Sigalda Power Plant diverted the glacial water to drive hydroelectric turbines, leaving behind a smaller river of clear spring water. This transformation changed the waterfall's color from grey to a striking turquoise. While the former waterfall was impressive with its vast volume falling six meters, many argue that Sigöldufoss is even more beautiful today.
We'll continue our adventure towards the Highlands via mountain roads, traversing rivers and rugged terrain seamlessly in our superjeep. Shortly, we'll arrive at Landmannalaugar, or the "People's Pools," a vast area of stunning and unique beauty in the heart of Iceland's southern Highlands. Landmannalaugar is renowned for its vibrant, multi-colored rhyolite mountains and geothermal hot springs. This breathtaking destination offers a range of outdoor activities, including hiking, bathing in natural hot springs, and exploring lava fields and obsidian caves. Get ready to immerse yourself in one of Iceland's most extraordinary landscapes! Here, you'll have the opportunity to explore the area on a short hike or, if you prefer, to soak in the geothermal waters with a relaxing dip in the hot spring.
Ljótipollur, an explosion crater and crater lake in the Icelandic Highlands, reaches depths of approximately 150 meters. Despite its name, which translates to "ugly puddle," this crater lake is far from unattractive. Encircled by vibrant red and green hills, Ljótipollur offers a breathtaking contrast that makes it a true photographer's paradise. The striking red and green colors are attributed to iron and sulfur deposits found in the rocks and soil, contributing to the area's distinctive and unforgettable landscape.
Hekla is one of Iceland’s most explosive and unpredictable volcanoes. Since the settlement of Iceland, Hekla has erupted between twenty to thirty times and continues to be active today. Situated along a 40-kilometer (25-mile) rift, the most active segment, Heklugjá, lies directly beneath the volcano itself. Hekla's summit features numerous craters, with two being particularly prone to eruptions. Some of Hekla's eruptions have been so massive that the resulting ash altered the climate of the northern hemisphere for years. Astonishingly, about 10 percent of Iceland’s landmass has been shaped by lava flows from Hekla. During our journey, we'll make a stop nearby for a photo opportunity and take in the awe-inspiring view of this mighty volcano.
We'll then head back towards Reykjavík for an evening time arrival where your guide will drop you off at your chosen location.

It was a brilliant tour and we’d do it again in a heartbeat. Our guide, Andre, was simply brilliant and we’d go on another tour with him in a heartbeat. Thank you so much for the wonderful tour.
One of my best days in Iceland!! Even a no-sportsman could experience endless beauty of wild mountains. Our tour guide Bjorn was amazing, all the day in a good mood, creating a nice friendly atmosphere.
Amazing day! Thor was a great reflection of Icelandic personalities and love of country.
Jon was a great tour guide. He was very informative and funny too. His driving skills in the giant off-road tour van were excellent.
We did not follow the itinerary listed on the website. We did not stop at the fist 2 waterfalls. The itinerary states we'd be at Lanndmanalauger 1.30 hours. We were there for 3. I would not have booked this tour if I knew there was a 3 hour hike option. I can't physically do a 3 hour hike, yet the driver said it was easy and anyone can do it. I ended up sitting in the cold and rain during this time. The jeep ride was rough. Driver drove way too fast for the road conditions. As this was not the tour that was advertised, Viator needs to reimburse me. If the itinerary is going to change on a tour, those signed up should have the option of canceling or changing to a different one. Beautiful scenery.
This was an amazing experience to visit the highlands of Iceland. Landmannalaugar is a pretty remote but stunning location. The hikes in the area are out of the world. We hope to go back in the future.
Guide and driver Rebecca was fantastic. Did great with a group with diverse interests. Kept an eye on all of us and had a wealth of information for us. Great day in a truly beautiful and otherworldly landscape.
Rebecca was amazing a long day , beautiful hike and riding the Arctic cat was a difference experience. An absolute must do if you’re in Iceland
Great trip experience what super jeep can do fantastic views
Beautiful drive to the Highlands, culminating in a hike among surreal landscapes. Simi, our driver, was informative, patient, and considerate.
Great tour if you have some extra time in Iceland. Highlands are an absolute must see after you did all the regular tours. Super Jeep was pretty cool and handled rugged terrain with ease. I wish we had a little more time at Landmannalaugar there is so much to do there (hike+pictures+springs) but then the tour would be extremely long. It was ~10.5 hours.
This was an extraordinary tour. The scenery was unbelievable. We had plenty of stops to see epic scenery along with an hour hike and walk up a crater.
We had a fantastic Ttripnwith Björn to this amazing region. Björn was an experienced driver and guide and we had a really good day!
The scenery is really wonderful, pick-up and drop-off OK. But there was something wrong with the organization: we had to wait for another vehicle, and at the end we missed 2 stops: at Hekla volcano and Ljotipolur lake, wich was frustrating (and no explanation why was given).
Great experience! Lots of stops for waterfalls and crater that made the trip very interesting. I would highly recommend this tour!
Views and scenery were fantastic. Off-roading was great. I wish our driver spoke a little more about our surroundings while we were driving. She was excellent on the hike. The hike should not be described as mild. It’s very uneven and steep in certain places.
This was one of the best experiences I’ve had in Iceland (and it’s my 8th trip here). The guide was great and the hike was incredible I took 200 pics and videos but even that couldn’t capture being there in person.
Highly recommended! You’ll discover the otherworldly side of Iceland. Our guide/driver Thor is awesome! I think he’s the best offroad driver of all time!
Probably the best Tour I did in Iceland Amazing beautiful places, small group that makes you feel cozy and manageable. The Jeep is fun, but also feels safe and appropriate for the highlands amd roads. Best of all was Isabella our guide, she was not just informative, she was also fun and accommodating! We love it! You must do the hiking!
Rebecka was very pleasant, funny, helpful and very knowledgeable about the entire area of the trip. The hot springs were wonderful, a must do on this excursion.
This was great but they need to extend the time at landmannalaugar so you can actually have enough time to enjoy the circle hike. To hike the mountain you definitely need more time. Valley of tears is a little slice of heaven. Trip advisor needs to make it clearer that you can do the hot springs at landmannalaugar OR the hike. There is not time for both. Beautiful area.
We had a great day with our driver Ziggy in the Highlands of Iceland! The weather turned out beautiful and when there was an issue, he promptly found a solution, communicated with us about the issue and once resolved, we were able to complete the rest of our adventure. The scenery was amazing, like nothing we had seen anywhere else. While this was a long day, it was definitely worth it! Would highly recommend this tour!
We were very excited about the super jeep when it first pulled up to pick us up, the seats were a bit snug for those who are little bigger and tall. However, aside from the seats, this was an amazing trip. We had done several since arriving to Iceland and the views you got on this trip were like no others. We did hit some road bumps (pun intended) along the way which our tour guide Ziggy/Siggy (sorry about spelling) was able to help us navigate wonderfully and still managed to fit in all of our stops making up time where he could. It’s definitely a long day and a lot of driving, pits stops and stretching in between were definitely a plus on this trip as well but absolutely a must do. It was BEAUTIFUL.
Landmannalauger is very pretty to see. Our tour guide did not speak much and I would have liked to have learned more about the area.
Landmannalaugur has long been on wish list of places to go in Iceland, and on a brief 1.5 day stopover in Reykjavik, Arctic Adventures delivered a great experience. Rebecca was a good humored and informative guide. She was flexible with the timing of the itinerary as it was clear that the small group on the tour that day had more interest in some stops than others. We had a luxurious amount of time to hike in the park itself. A shoutout is due to the Arctic Adventures office staff, who went above and beyond in accommodating a late-arriving cruise ship and helped me navigate the confusing geography of the terminal over the phone so I could find the van.
We weren't sure at first how we'd feel about this Jeep Safari, but it was fantastic. Our guide, Hjalti Björnsson, shared lots of fascinating information about what we were seeing, how it came to be, how the environment affected the people who lived there, and more. He's a seasoned hike-leader, and he very patiently and thoroughly explained the volcanic craters, the impact of the glaciers, the colors of the mountains. The sights would have been impressive enough on their own, but were much more so because, thanks to Hjalti's explanations, we were able to understand and appreciate what we were seeing!
We enjoyed a wonderful tour with Mateo visiting out of this world scenery including lush waterfalls, stunning volcanic craters and hiking lava fields from unique base camp. Mateo was attentive to his guests and made sure we had an enjoyable and pleasant day. He was knowledgeable about the places we visited. We had a great adventure in the highlands of Iceland. Thanks Mateo!
Great Jeep Tour Landmannalaugar. We had a great really nice guide - Matej - , his speech was very good to understand, he drives us safely through the rough nature.
It was in one word GREAT!! Nice variety, great guide/driver. This day was fun, impressive and actually much more..
Incredible and unrepeatable places, our guide was expert, efficient and attentive. Highly recommended, essential for all visitors to Iceland.
