The guide was friendly and very knowledgeable and knew the best places to see the lights away from the group tours and had the tricks with his camera to make our photos look like a postcode. I feel lucky I found Icelandic Roamers last minute. They responded fast, which helped me secure a private tour despite the short notice. Our night started with doubt for an hour. The sky was covered with clouds, and I thought we would miss it. But Micahl did not stop. He drove us about 45 minutes north, chasing clear skies. Then it happened. The lights appeared, dancing above us. It felt surreal. One of those moments you never forget.

Amazing experience with Miro! He brought all the gear and Icelandic experience to make our Northern Lights evening magical. He had a laser light to show us where the lights were emerging, setting up the photography equipment to be ready for every possible moment, including a picture of the two of us with the northern lights above us. It was a freezing and very windy night so he made sure we stayed warm in the car to wait for just the right moments to see the beautiful green lights. My husband‘s glove blew out of the car and across the road into a field. In the pitched dark, Miro actually found the glove with his headlamp and other flashlight. He was prepared for everything even hot chocolate - it was a welcome added touch to a perfect evening! We came to Iceland for the northern lights and felt blessed that we were able to see them on the first night and have Miro make it all possible with wonderful photographs to share and bring home. We had the most amazing experience with Icelandic Roamers!! Our first attempt at seeing the northern lights unfortunately ended in no lights appearing in the sky but despite this we had the most amazing night learning about the aurora and watching the stars. Our guide Danny was amazing and the night was so perfect despite no aurora that my partner Adam still proposed under the stars which Danny was able to capture so beautifully! We were then given a complimentary retry a few days later with Miro who was so amazing! We got some Icelandic Magic and got to see the most beautiful lights, watching them move and dance! The trip was absolutely amazing from start to finish. Michal and the team at icelandic roamers helped plan the most amazing northern lights tour and a very special proposal. With the jeep Michal had we were able to go off the beaten path that the tour busses could go to and get to a really secluded spot to view the lights. We got really luck with how vivid and beautiful the lights were on the night, but this tour definitely gave us a great chance and allowed us to privately enjoy our experience. On top of an already amazing trip, the photographs and video provided by Michal are absolutely perfect. The detail and colours are just so so good. WOW! I wish I could give Miro 50,000 stars just like he gave us! We went out in a night with a low chance of seeing the Northern Lights yet Miro found them for us as well as a star filled sky unlike anything we had ever seen before! We had a lovely and informative drive as we were driving to the spots where he carefully monitored cloud cover and other conditions that contributed to finding the perfect combination to see the Aurora Borealis! His photography skills are incredible and he knew exactly how to guide us up to places where he could get great shots using his excellent technique to capture color, light, the sky, everything! We also enjoyed the most amazing hot chocolate and cinnamon buns which were such a wonderful treat while being in and out of the cold. Miro was an absolutely amazing guide throughout our entire experience for the Northern Lights Tour last December. He was very communicative before the tour about how the chances & weather were looking and the potential options we had. He was so informative throughout our trip with what they use to chase them and where we were going looking for them. My friend and I made this trip to Iceland to see the Northern Lights. We had just been here five months ago but hadn’t seen them on that trip. We arranged a private tour with TripZig through Viator. The three hour tour was confirmed with Siggi around noon for that night as the sightings forecast was favorable. We were staying in Keflavik and wanted a tour in that area rather than going into Reykjavik. Siggi was a wonderful guide who pulled off onto a service road near a geothermal plant. We witnessed jaw dropping sights of the Northern Lights for two hours. We were able to capture the sights on our iPhones. Beautiful memories.

We were scheduled for a private Northern Lights tour on Christmas Eve. Miro emailed us the day before to ask if we had the flexibility to move our trip up a day since conditions were expected to deteriorate the next day. We were able to make it work and set out in search of the lights at 9:30 PM. Our guide, Michal, drove to a couple of locations with no luck. At our third stop right after midnight, we spotted a glimmer of green light through the lens of our cameras. Within minutes, it was a full blown aurora borealis. We were the only vehicle in our location and were treated to a full hour of northern lights. We snapped our own photos and Michal took some great pictures of our family with the lights in the background. It was an experience we will never forget. I booked a private tour with Icelandic Roamers in November 2024. Our tour guide was Michal, the most amazing and sweetest guy ever! We are so lucky to have had him as our guide. He was so patient with me and my plans with my secret proposal. He captured the most amazing photos of my fiance and me. I can not recommend Icelandic Roamers enough. Next time we return to Iceland, I'll book more tours with them! Michal picked us up at our hotel and the tour took about 3-4 hours. We were so lucky that we saw them, our tour was supposed to be at 7 PM but was pushed back to 9 PM. We went to 2-3 locations to hunt for the Northern Lights. If you book for November, dress warm and be flexible with the lights!

We had the best time seeing the Northern Lights with our guide Robert. He found them on our first night we went out and we had a private viewing spot with gorgeous photos of the lights and the Milky Way. Our five year old son had a blast as well. He played in the snow and drank the hot chocolate our guide provided. The photos were absolutely stunning. We highly recommend this tour!

When you go to Iceland to chase the Northern Lights, sign up for this tour with Icelandic Roamers, and ask for Robert. You'll not only be treated with professionalism, but also Robert knows the areas where the lights will not only really shine, but you will have ridiculous privacy where you don't have to share your northern lights moment with anyone else but yourselves. The spots they go to have zero light pollution, and through his camera can really capture the amazing colors from the light show. The vehicle used for this excursion are designed to go off road so it's easier to get to those secluded spots. It was a Land Rover Defender that has been upgraded to add comfort to your off-roading experience. The Northern Lights are why we came to Iceland in the first place, and we couldn't be happier with the service and experience we had with Robert and Icelandic Roamers. 10/10, would do this again!! I can’t thank Miro enough for one of the best experiences of our life! It was our first time to book such a tour and not to organise it ourselves and I have to say it was definitely worth it. It was a cold and windy night but hot cocoa and cinnamon rolls kept us warm, our tour guide Marcin knew all the places to go to to run away from the clouds near Reykjavik and we have seen the best Northern Lights ever. Marcin was constantly checking both aurora and weather forecast and used this knowledge to the maximum. I cannot recommend the tour enough, the photos we got after were great, the vehicles they drive are amazing and perfect for Iceland. A quick summary for those wanting straight facts: - Miro played a key role in planning my surprise northern lights marriage proposal (this review is about that). -Miro is extremely well-planned, and has profound knowledge and experience when it comes to chasing the lights. - His Super Defender make the experience of chasing the lights a once-in-lifetime experience - Miro is an amazing person, and is now a friend more than a guide. - He doesn’t say it, but he is the natgeo traveller of the year 2017, an award he won for his photography skills. I’ve always dreamed of proposing in Iceland under the northern lights, and when the time came- I went through a bunch of photographers and tour guides. Most of the people I approached, said a northern lights proposal was pretty difficult to do, considering the slim chances of seeing lights in April, along with the perfect positioning and zero movement to take long exposure pictures. Miro and Joel were the first of the lot who were ready to take on the uphill task I’d set in front of them and making it a reality. To plan this surprise, we had multiple calls to ensure we were prepared for every scenario. We had location options, back up dates and even code words for when I should propose. To sharpen my knowledge I had been following a bunch of lights enthusiasts on IG. A lot of these guys suggested heading out of Reykjavik on the night of April 1 to see the lights. Miro with his expertise asked me to move it to April 2 citing cloudy conditions, and he was spot on. None of the chasers saw any lights that night. We set off the night of April 2, with a KPI of 2 keeping me worried about us not being able to see the lights. Miro however, was extremely confident that we’d see the lights. After 2 hours of great conversation, we crossed Borganes and that’s when we saw the sky slowly start lighting up. Whilst we stopped for a few minutes, Miro suggested he take us to another spot just close by, which would truly make our pictures fabulous. He took us off-roading to get us to the spot within 10 minutes (one heck of a ride, fyi). He made us then put on crampons, and took us onto a frozen lake. Over the next 15 minutes, the cloudy sky cleared up and we saw the most dazzling northern lights show for a period of 50+ minutes. My proposal went off great, as I’d hoped- it was almost as if Miro had planned this with the gods to make it this perfect. If this wasn’t enough, we were blown away when we saw what Miro had captured for us. He’d set up his camera for a time lapse, so we had the entire 50 minutes of lights with us as the subjects of the video for us to take back as memories. 110% would recommend- I don’t think it gets any better than this!! O…M….G… this was by far the most amazing tour we’ve been on. Our tour guide, Isabella , was an absolute delight! She was so knowledgeable and talkative and warm. We felt instantly comfortable with her. We were very fortunate for an excellent lights display thanks to mother nature, and Isabella took outstanding photographs of our family. We could not be more satisfied with the entire trip and we highly recommend this tour. We want to thank the owner Miro for his prompt communications and excellent service. I can’t give this tour & company enough praise! This is absolutely the first thing you NEED to do when you come to Iceland. It worth every penny. Miro was a fantastic guide and made sure we had the best experience. He took us to the best spots, waited patiently (with good conversation and fantastic hot chocolate) until we saw MORE lights. He was very informative with what to look for and where to look. The icing one the cake was that he took the time to help me with my own personal camera & settings but he also lent me an expensive piece of his camera equipment for TEN DAYS while we were in Iceland…just so I would be able to take better photos and enhance our experience. We had a fantastic time with Miro who went above and beyond our expectations. Miro knew exactly where to take us in his fantastic Landrover Defender which was capable of going anywhere! He took us to a couple of remote locations only known to himself which were totally off road ensuring we weren't disturbed by other tourists or tour bus operators. We were fortunate enough to have a spectacular display and to have Miro our own professional photographer to take as many photos as we wished including great time lapse pictures. Miro even provided hot chocolate to warm us up on a cold night. All in all a great tour, a great experience and a great guide.

We had the best northern lights excursion with Miro Tran, Icelandic Roamers. He has experience and knowledge and he’s a great guy! He was totally prepared and we saw the most amazing and beautiful display as a result. The hotel concierge told us he is the best and they were right! What a fantastic way to spend a birthday!

After our tours got cancelled twice for bad weather with another company. We booked with Icelanding Roamers hoping to have a better chance of seeing them since we would be able to access more remote places with Miro’s 4x4. So thankful to have booked with him! Not only did we get an awesome show but the whole experience all together was amazing. He was very knowledgeable and knew exactly where to go to see the lights . There was absolutely no one else in sight so we had the lights all to ourselves! We got to enjoy the lights without having to worry about pictures since Miro took care of that and they came out awesome! Although he also took the time to show me what settings to use with my own camera and I was able to get some great shots myself. On top of all that, he also brought snacks for that cold night! We had some mini cinnamon rolls and the best and most rich hot chocolate we have ever tried. If you are planning on chasing the northern lights do not hesitate to book with Icelandic roamers, you won’t regret it . In terms of pricing, you really get what you paid for here. We gad actually done a tour with a bus the night before and although we did get a glimpse of the lights it was nothing compared to the experience we had with Miro. He really took his time to find the best place and we stayed out way longer than with the other tour! If we come back we would definitely book with him again !

We are so happy to have shared a piece of our love story with Miro! He was the absolute best tour guide and photographer from start to finish!! Miro was so personable, and I felt like we were best friends the entire time. It was a big dream of mine to see the Northern Lights in Iceland. With the unpredictability of the Icelandic clouds/winds/solar activity, it takes a very experienced guide to be able to find the perfect time and spot for the Northern Lights! Miro picked us up 30 minutes early because he predicted that the activity would be early, and he was so right!! The Northern Lights showed up just a short drive away and they looked MAJESTIC!!!! Then, we snapped a few pictures, and headed to hunt for another location - and WOW!! Miro found the absolute perfect location with no cars, no light pollution, and best of all - The Northern Lights started going crazy in all directions from northern, southern, eastern, and western skies. We were shocked and stunned to see such beautiful lights everywhere. We truly had no idea where to look because the light show was everywhere!! Even Miro himself was shocked, and he’s been doing these tours for years. Then, as if the night could not have been better, my boyfriend proposed to me under the MAGICAL dancing green lights and a million stars!!!!!!! I was already over the moon and beyond happy, but then a few minutes later, PINK DANCING LIGHTS showed up!! Such a rare sighting! What in the world!! We had no idea how Miro found the most perfect location to see all the lights and timed it perfectly to see all these different colors away from everyone else!!! I am so glad we had Miro to take photos, videos, and time lapses of all the special moments because my phone pictures would not have done the Northern lights any justice!!! André was a fantastic tour guide and found an unbelievable area to shoot to northern lights. He was very patient with the lights as well and did not give up when clouds started to roll in. I would 100% recommend this company to anyone and even better if you get André. He is also very passionate about photography and even gave me some tips!

The experience and communication from start to finish was perfect. They emailed me a week before coordinating days we would be available as options to find the optimal night to see the Northern Lights. Isabella arrived promptly at our hotel, and was so courteous and professional. She took amazing photographs so we had family photos of the experience too! I highly recommend booking with Icelandic Roamers over the others for a more customized experience without having to worry about timing of getting back to the hotel at a certain time. If you come to Iceland and pick any other Northern lights tour YOU ARE WRONG. This was the best experience ever!! Izabela was the kindest woman ever! She made sure we were comfortable and gave us some great information about hunting for the lights. My boyfriend was going to propose (which I didn’t know) and I swear she called Mother Nature for the best show so he could do it! I can not say enough good things about her and this company!
