Private South Coast Fire And Ice: Glacier Viewpoint & Lava Show

Hidden Iceland curated a seven day independent driving trip for my wife and I embracing the South coast and the Golden Circle.The entire trip was planned by Anna from Hidden Iceland and by the end of the seven days we had driven 1375km.Anna suggested an action planned trip which embraced all the major sights and activities that both the South Coast and Golden Circle offer.The trip was absolutely stunning from snow clad peaks,immensely powerful waterfalls,enormous glaciers,numerous icebergs and an abundance of black lava and sand-and the Icelanders,friendly,helpful and really proud of their Country. Anna from Hidden Iceland was truly an absolute pleasure to deal with,extremely helpful,knowledgeable and with exceptional communication skills.This is the trip to do for those who want to be independent however require the knowledge and experience of a locally based company.Really highly recommended.

What an amazing trip. We did two days, the Golden Circle and the South Coast. Robert was very mindful of everyone, making sure everyone's comfortable an happy. We were a larger group - 18 people - and I appreciate that Hidden Iceland could accommodate us so well. The group absolutely loved the sights, the cozy lunch places, and the overall trip. Thank you!

My husband and I took this tour in early Oct '24. It was us and one other couple. We saw so many waterfalls, the black beaches and Lava show in Vik. The glacier is so amazing to see close up. Our guide was in-depth, kept us on time, and was so knowledgeable about the area. We had a fun and amazing time. We highly recommend!

Our tour guide was simply amazing- he was friendly, personable and knowledgeable. I recommend this tour 10/10. The transportation was also extremely clean and pleasant.

Amazing trip. Picked up on time, luxury mini bus and taken off to see the magical landscape of the South. Our guide Atley was fantastic and seemed to enjoy it as well. It’s a long drive to Vik to start but then everything is on the way back and day flew by. Lava show was fun, albeit wife having nightmares about Ketla going up. The curry fish soup was unbelievable! And then the landscape…so dramatic and unforgettable. Walk around the waterfall….you don’t get that wet! 😂Thank you.

We spent 4 days in Iceland touring with Hidden Iceland and had an exceptional experience! Our guide, Ingimundur, was fabulous - very knowledgeable and personable, funny and an excellent driver. The mini van for our group of 10 was in mint condition and a great benefit is that it came packed with rain gear and hiking boots for all of us. Given that it poured for 4 days, we would not have been able to enjoy the trip without the excellent gear! If you’re planning a trip to Iceland, book with Hidden Iceland!

If I had known better, I would have booked all my tours with Hidden Iceland. The small group tour was definitely the way to go and the tour guide surpassed others in knowledge, friendliness, and engagement.

Going under the waterfall!! Our guide was very helpful and ensured my wife did not slip on the rocks! We also enjoyed hiking to the glacier and learning about it. The lava show was fantastic as well!! What a great day!!!

This tour was recommended by a friend and was perfect for us. A small group of 14 people who were interesting and fun to get to know. We particularly enjoyed Levy who was quirky and told Great stories. The weather turned nasty for the second half of the tour but we didn't mind. Our tour guide knew that puffins don't like to stay in the water in that kind of weather and he knew exactly where they would be. We love puffins so we were thrilled to be less than two meters away from a colony of several dozen puffins! The waterfalls were great as were the black sand beaches. Even the lava show - which we thought would be hokey - was very interesting. Highly recommend!!

Levi, our driver was fantastic. Very knowledgeable great sense of humor was able to reroute us to another lovely destination when the glacier we were supposed to visit was unexpectedly closed due to gas leakage. It was all a great trip.

We went on this tour on July 24, 2024. Levi was our tour guide. We had a miserable day weather wise with heavy and intermittent rain all day long but Levi ensured we enjoyed this tour despite that weather! We stopped at 2 waterfalls which were spectacular, the Black Sand Beach, and a lava show at a local soup shop! The show was very good and the lunch we enjoyed afterwards was delicious and hearty! We enjoyed this trip for all 10 hours of our day! I highly recommend it and I highly recommend Levi as well. He was kind, knowledgeable, thoughtful, helped us understand the area and what we were observing either entire time! He also helped me feel comfortable and safe, addressing my mobility issues all along the way! Thanks Levi! And thank you Iceland for all your beautiful vistas!

Waterfalls, black beaches, lava show, beautiful scenery with Icelandic horses, sheep and farmlands. Our driver/guide Levi was personable, knowledgeable and added to this enjoyable experience that we will never forget,

I toured before with Hidden Iceland and was happy to find that they offered this tour to waterfalls. This tour also includes the really Cool or Hot Lava Show and a walk to view a glacier lagoon and glacier as well as Black beach (I think I really prefer black sand, it should be a thing).

This tour was amazing and Émilia was a fantastic guide! We saw everything on the itinerary and the small group size was much nicer than the giant buses we easily passed, and we had a brand new sprinter van w/ AC and rain jackets/ pants/boots too. The views were incredible and I couldn’t stop taking photos every step I took. Emilia was so organized and got us to places before most of the crowds. First was the glacier, then Vik, Black Sand Beach, Lava Show, and several waterfalls. We ate lunch at the Lava Show cafe called The Soup Company, which was insanely delicious. If you have time for only one tour while in Iceland, DO THIS TOUR with Hidden Iceland and hopefully you will have Emilia as your guide. Thank you!!!

Both the live lava show and the walk to the glaciernwerenwonderfulnexperiences, as was the walk under the falls! Our tour guide was truly an'guide' helping us interpret what we were seeing. Highly recommend!

Holly was our tour guide and did a great job. I would recommend this trip to pretty much anyone. If you are a little adventurous makes sure you wear waterproof clothes as I walked through a waterfall at one point and that was really nice experience

Wonderful tour. Our guide, Levi, was awesome. Very knowledgeable, told great stories. Lava show and lunch was delicious. Loved that it was a small group, we all were friends by the end. Highly recommend!

Our guide Einar was amazing! He was super knowledgeable but so down-to-earth friendly and patient enough to put up with our American sensibilities. Highly recommend him and the company to leave you with interesting facts to take back home

We had a great experience with this tour and I would highly recommend! Einar was our tour guide and he made the trip to the South Coast go by quickly. He was friendly, easy going and easy to talk to. Our tour was carefully planned out and small enough to get to know the other travelers. Stops for snacks, food, chocolate and bathrooms were thought out and helpful for the first time Iceland tourist. For our first visit to Iceland, I would recommend this tour to get to know Iceland!

We loved seeing the waterfalls, glacier, black sand beach, and the beautiful countryside! Einar was our guide and was very funny and personable. We learned a lot about Iceland’s history and culture.

This tour and our experience with Hidden Iceland's staff and especially our guide Einar was top notch! A little explanation: we were scheduled to take the 2 day Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon tour. However, due to extreme weather conditions (wind and snow), roads were closed making the tour impossible. The staff at Hidden Iceland very quickly pivoted and offered the entire group the option to take two of their full-day trips instead. The communication we received from the office was impressive, frequent and never made us regret the change in schedule. They made it very easy for us. YES! We do want to return to see the glacier lagoon someday, but the sights we saw on the South Coast Fire and Ice Tour were amazing. Despite what must have been a day of stressful driving while fighting cross winds, our guide Einar was cheerful and shared a lot of insider knowledge about his lovely country and the amazing scenery we were experiencing. His knowledge of restaurants in Reykjavik was also impressive and helpful. This was so much more enjoyable than if we had been doing this without a guide. I recommend this company for any of your tour needs. If you want something that isn't on their list, I suggest you reach out. My impression is that they're very open to customizing an itinerary to your needs.

We recently completed a private 6-day tour of southern Iceland planned by Rita at Hidden Iceland. Our driver and guide was the “FANTASTIC FANNAR”. He was awesome! We are convinced that we would not have been able to see as much of this beautiful country without a private guide/driver. Fannar was able to adjust quickly according to weather, tourists, etc., so that we got the most out of every second on our tour. He showed us things we never would have found on our own or with guidebooks. He gave us insights and history on every location and Iceland in general during our drives. He paid particular attention to our personalities and preferences (even without us verbalizing) and was able to further tailor our tours/restaurants etc. as we went. On top of all that, he was just a fabulous person, and felt like part of our family by the end. Our vacation was so much richer and memorable because we didn’t do it on our own but had Hidden Iceland with us along the way. They are an extremely professional, passionate and competent company that delivers on their promise to provide safe tailored experiences that enrich your trip.

Highly recommend this tour. My daughter and I thoroughly enjoyed this tour. There were only 12 sightseers with this tour. Our guide, Emilia, was knowledgeable and friendly and encouraging. She took us to a cute “skool bus” coffee shop. The waterfalls and scenery are so beautiful. The lava show is very interesting, pretty amazing and a nice lunch there.

What a great tour - there's a lot of similar tours to choose from but I seemed to have chosen well - especially as a solo traveller. Einar was an affable, knowledgeable, and humorous host and driver. The 11-seater coach was comfy and whilst there is a lot of driving on this tour, it was enjoyable to take in the landscape and ask our host questions. Highly recommended. I took another tour in the same vehicle, by Hidden Iceland the day before and am glad I stuck with this company.

It was a wonderful once in a lifetime experience. The scenery was breathtaking and the tour guide Einar was very knowledgeable and fun. Overall a fantastic experience that I would recommend 100%.

What an amazing tour! Our guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The sights were incredible! Unfortunately, we missed the black sand beach because of the weather. But I appreciate our guide taking our safety first. He made it up by adding extra time to the other stops and stopping at a cute little place for coffee and dessert.

By far one of the highlights of our trip!!! We had the BEST guide Bjorn. He was so knowledgeable, knew all the tricks to skip the crowds, entertaining and hilarious. On top of it, he was an amazing photographer. We ended up with such great photos from this tour! Don’t hesitate to book this tour. Everything and every stop we made were amazing memories made! Looking forward to hopefully making it back one day.

This entire experience was great all around. Not only were the sights amazing, but our guide was, too. Arna was just superb. She had interactive conversation with us the entire trip about soooo much!! I haven’t had such a detailed and informative conversation with someone in very long! The waterfalls are extremely beautiful and powerfully inspiring! Lava show, the glacier, and the black sand beach are all really cool and memorable, as well. We had a group of 7 adults and one 2 yr old so we wanted to be flexible. We booked a private tour with Hidden Iceland and had an amazing day. Fannar our tour guide was informative and entertaining. The black sand beach was amazing and the waterfalls beautiful. Emilie planned a great day and Fannar had suggestions on the day if we wanted to change the plan.

I had a great tour with a humorous guide, sharing a lot of funfacts and info about the destinations / checkpoints. Enjoyed every moment of it. The sights are amazing, breathtaking and I'll definitely remember this day.

The views were amazing! The day went by too quickly! The winds made us rush through some of the sights, however our guide did not rush us. Great trip!

Beautiful day, ample time at each destination and stories between stops - perfect time. Lunch at Lava Show stop was very good, cute cafe.

We went with Emilia in this trip and the whole experience was absolutely fabulous. Emilia was the greatest guide we ever had. She came with us out of the bus and gave us indications for all monuments and natural atractions. If I will come back to Island, I will check for Emilia's trips because was amaizing. The other trips with different companies weren't so nice as that with Emilia.

We did both the South Coast one day trip, followed by the Golden Circle and Secret Lagoon trip the following day. We were lucky enough to have the absolutely wonderful Einar as our guide on both days and by the time he dropped us off at the end it felt like leaving a friend. The tours are both spectacular and varied and we felt we made the right call not doing a self drive in winter, or joining one of the big bus parties. Einar was charming, clever and kind and goes out of his way to look after his guests. Thank you Einar! We hope you make it to Ireland. Thanks Hidden Iceland for superb communications throughout.
