So happy we booked a northern lights tour through them. Super responsive and helpful which is always appreciated. The vehicle was comfortable and spacious. Our guide, Tamas is kind, knowledgeable and found us a great spot to view the lights. We had a great evening thanks to superjeep and Tamas!

Itinerary
You will be picked up at your hotel at 8pm or 9pm (depending on the season) and taken out of Reykjavik right away. The direction and the next stop will always depend on the weather and the ‘aurora forecast’. You will be taken to the viewing locations where you are most likely to spot the northern lights. All effort will be made to take photos of you with the northern lights in the background, at no extra charge.
The private northern lights superjeep hunt is dependent on the weather and sky conditions, and the right is reserved to cancel at any time. If the evening tour goes ahead and the northern lights are not seen, you will be offered to try once again for free! If there is a need to cancel all your nights due to bad weather, you will get a full refund.
Make sure you book your northern lights in Iceland tour for your first night in town in order to maximize your chances of sightings.
You will return to your Reykjavík hotel around 12am or 1am.

We did a Private Northern Lights Superjeep Tour with Tamas as our driver/guide and it was a terrific experience. The aurora forecast for the night that we went out was moderate and there were some clouds in the area so it was a challenge to be able to see the Northern Lights. Tamas though did a terrific job, expertly bringing us to a few locations until we could find them. He was friendly, helpful and accommodating. Highly recommend.
We took two separate trips with Super Jeep and were glad we did. The first one, on Friday 21st November, to see the Northern Lights looked like we'd had a wasted journey. We stood outside on a chilly night and got to see the Milky Way and shooting stars, but a a pesky cloud was barring the way where we needed the sky to be clear. Being in a small group in a sturdy vehicle our driver was able to take us across rough terrain. He eventually decided we should move from our spot by the sea, further inland and we found ourselves in a lava field. I confess by 11 pm I was ready to give up (and most of the coaches did), but Christian (sorry if I got his name wrong) is more patient than me and we hung around until midnight when the Northern Lights decided to reveal themselves and gave us a great 30 minute performance. It's important to realise it doesn't look like the videos and photos you see online. They appear a greyish colour but you can clearly see the bands, swirls and droplets as they move across the sky. My camera doesn't have a night mode, so I was extra glad that Christian had set up his super dooper camera and took as many photos of all of us as we wanted. We got back, tired and happy at 2am. Next morning, we were up bright and early, for The Golden Circle tour with Erik, who is a master at off road driving. He took us to waterfalls, geysers, National Park, avoided the trolls, and took us up a glacier in the jeep while the rest of the party went snowmobiling. We even had time for an ice cream. This was a memorable day and I highly recommend Super Jeep for both these tours.
Krissy was a brilliant guide on our Northern Lights Tour. We had a big coach tour included in our package tour. But, we wanted to get away from everything to hopefully enjoy the lights with a degree of solitude. So, we booked a Superjeep tour instead. Krissy took us to the middle of nowhere and really went the extra mile to make our trip special. And it was. We saw the lights developing, enjoyed hot chocolate and vodka and later received brilliant pictures of ourselves in front of the Northern Lights from Krissy. My own cheap phone camera picked up nothing. Thank goodness for Krissy and his excellent camera. Meeting people the next day, who went in the big coach tour, we were told they saw nothing. We were so grateful that we booked our own tour with Krissy. It made our holiday 😍
Last done with Superjeep 9 years ago and now repeated with equal success. Incredible adventure with Justin, our driver going out of his way to ensure our enjoyment. One minute the sky was clear and the next...........
Our driver and guide did as much as he could to hunt down the Northern lights but it was never going to happen. Our experience was cancelled the evening before. I felt thd cost of the excursion on reflection was far too expensive in light of the experience we had and no lights were seen. Disappointed obviously but the experience is far too expensive.
Our driver Oli was so friendly and despite activity for the lights being moderate on the forecast he found them pretty quickly. The area we were watching soon became full of other tourists so he moved to his favourite spot, pretty remote and absolutely freezing. We’d been waiting in -15 for some time, I was ready to go back but he had a feeling, oh my, the 20 minute light show and dancing of the northern lights right above us we experienced was breathtaking, something we could never have witnessed without our brilliant guides experience. Oh and the hot chocolate with added vodka made the cold that little bit easier! Fabulous guide, loved it!
Went out hunting with Ants. He was absolutely fabulous. Fun, interesting stories, and worked hard to help us see the lights. In the end, we only could see them well via a camera shot, but of course there are no guarantees! But even so, we would highly, highly recommend. Comfortable ride, and the tremendous beauty of the clear starry sky, shooting stars and the “haze” of the NLs ( looked a bit like the Milky Way) was well worth it. Thanks Ants!
Omar was a wonderful and knowledgeable guide. He made our northern lights hunt memorable. We had a blast. Highly recommend this tour.
Our family of four with a 10-&13-year-old had a great time seeing the Northern Lights with Superjeep.is. The four of us were in a jeep with our guide Oli who picked us up at our hotel in Reykjavik and we later met up and caravanned with other Superjeeps to find a nice spot with clear skies and low wind to wait for the Northern Lights to show themselves. The show is way more spectacular through the camera lens, but we still have some fabulous photos (provided by Superjeep) and experience of a lifetime. They keep the jeeps warm and cozy so you can jump in and out to warm up.
We took this tour as a private group with the jeep all to ourselves (6 of us), weather wise it wan't the best evening but the advantage of the jeep (and the fact that the company have several jeeps out on the road, with radio communications) is that once on jeep has found them, they can guide in the others so we were lucky enough to see the lights on a cloudy evening, this was especially good as it was close to the start of the season, approaching solar minimum so some of the odds were against us. Katie was a fab driver (although speed bumps, in the back row of a superjeep leaving the city feel much more like an off-road experience). The free photos after the event are an added bonus, and although there was a slight problem with access the correct folder of photos, the company were very responsive to emails to finally get the correct link sent to us, so we could see the photos of the members of our jeep. The chocolate and vodka was fab. There is always a risk the lights won't play ball, but I could not fault Superjeeps efforts to get us to them
I have been on super jeeps northern lights tour twice once in 2016 and then again this past march and they are just incredible. The guides are funny, knowledgeable, and want you to have the best time! You caravan with a few other jeeps around Iceland trying to find the lights. Both times I went on this tour, we found them! I absolutely recommend this tour and company!
Friendly drivers pick up at your hotel in these massive jeeps, small groups, and begin chasing the lights! Great communication among various jeeps around the region to locate the perfect spot for the lights. We lucked out and enjoyed the lights our first night (but they could cover a second try at no additional cost). After the beautiful show from the skies, the jeep team say good by with warm chocolate and the best Reyka vodka! All adds up to perfection in the north!
It was awesome! We saw the Northern Lights and Ingvar was a wonderful tour guide! Very fun experience in a Super Jeep!
Amazing hands down and highly recommended. Oli was the man and knew exactly what he was doing! If you want a more one on one experience the private tour is worth its weight in gold! 5 stars!!! Hot chocolate, vodka, pictures, everything you could want. it was the best Valentine's Day ever!
We booked this company on recommendation and they didn't disappoint. We were picked up from our apartment in central Reykjavik by our guide Cio (apologies for spelling!). The weather was bad, deep snow all around and blizzard blowing but we felt safe in the jeep. Cio had to let air out of the tyres and pump them back up again depending on the terrain. We had been on a bus trip that afternoon and seen 10 cars crashed off the road, and another car stuck that night but the weather wasn't a problem in the jeep. The guides speak to each other over the phone and after about an hour we pulled into a tiny little clearing with 3 foot deep snow and all got out. There was another super jeep there with another family. We couldn't see much at first but the guides took photos with long exposure time and sure enough we could see the lights starting to come out. We messed about in the snow and before long we could see the lights with our naked eye, they were much more intense viewed via the camera. Before we headed back we all had hot chocolate (with vodka added for the adults!) and then set off home. The photos the guide took are all available to us at no extra cost. This trip was a real highlight of the holiday. It was fairly expensive but the experience of being out in the middle of nowhere where you could only really get to in a super jeep and seeing the Northern Lights was fantastic. Would definitely recommend.
Truly the best tour guide in all of Iceland. We learned so much and his energy is so infectious. Arnie has a hilarious bravado about him. Incredibly proud of his country and I'm so grateful that we were able to share in the experience of hunting down the Northern Lights with him! Request him if you can! He's friends with The Mountain. =)
Our experience with superjeep was spectacular. The first time we went for the hunt, we did not see any Northern Lights. Superjeep was thoughtful and helpful to arrange another hunt on another day. That day, was on Christmas day and it was definitely the best Christmas we ever had. The tour guides were very much informative and determined to find the Northern Lights. Not only that, they supplied us with some hot chocolate as well as the service to take pictures of us with the northern lights. It turned out really great. It was definitely one in a lifetime experience and am very pleased to experience it with Superjeep. Definitely will book with them again!
I am sure there are many ways to see the Northern Lights in Iceland. And maybe this was a little more expensive than a group bus trip. BUT, it was way worth it. Our guide, Sio, was great. And quite frankly, without the right guide and camera equipment (and experience) the adventure would not have been the same. Only about 45 minutes outside of Reykjavik, we went off road and suddenly were taking amazing photos of our family. Quite frankly, when I saw them, I thought they had to be photo shopped! We were so happy with SuperJeep, we booked another different tour with them.
This was my second visit to Iceland and seeing the Northern lights. Based on the good reviews this company had, I decided to book a private Jeep with them. We were a group of 6 and all as disappointed. The guide was not very friendly, he had no personality. All these reviewed regarding the hot chocolate and vodka, we had NONE even available or offered. We had a short glimpse at the lights since we were unlucky that night but , based on my previous experiences, the tour should’ve been rescheduled from the gecko due to the poor prognosis of visibility. And most importantly!! I’ve contacted them 3 times over email requesting the pictures and have been ignored!!! Do not book this company!!!
a Superjeep tour when visiting Iceland is a MUST! I wish we had booked more than just the northern lights tour with them but will definitely be using them on my next trip back! There were 6 of us so we booked a private tour. We communicated via email with them before we booked and they advised us booking the private tour was actually cheaper than us all paying individually. Logi (the legend) was our tour guide and he was AMAZING! We were taken into the middle of nowhere so it was nice and dark and the lights were spectacular. We were able to view them with our own eyes and enjoy the experience while he took almost 100 pictures of us all with the bright lights and beautiful stars. It was an experience I will never forget. Not to mention the hot chocolate offered on the tour was a nice little treat to warm us up! Logi was so personable and shared so much with us, not only about the tour and lights, but also about Iceland in general and gave us a lot of tips that were helpful for our trip. Will definitely be requesting him when I return.
I have to admit, at first I was skeptical. As we were waiting inside our hotel lobby, the snow was coming down outside, and it was coming down hard! Soon enough, our tour guide came and picked us up in this giant, lifted Ford Excursion. I soon knew we were in for a treat. We drove for what felt like 35ish minutes our east into the middle of nowhere, just us and the occasional passing car. The hunt was on. Our guide spotted a line in the sky and we made a bee line for it. Next thing I know we are pulling over on the side of this snowy road and getting ready to experience something truly amazing. At first, it wasn't anything crazy...and then all of a sudden, boom! The aurora broke out and it was dancing right in front of us. I felt like I could hold my hand out and touch it, it was truly amazing, like nothing I have ever experienced before. It was darkness, stars and the aurora! Truly magical. To top it all off, we enjoyed some hot chocolate mixed with vodka and watched the lights. It gets pretty cold since it is windy and very dark, I would dress warmly for sure! This was an absolutely amazing experience and I cannot wait to go back, 10/10 would recommend to anyone traveling to Iceland!!
Our first night was canceled because of clouds but the second night was a go. Chris or Chrissi was our guide and the group leader for the other jeeps. He was very knowledgeable. The lights were spectacular and an unadvertised and free benefit ( rare in this life) were a number of photos of us taken with the northern lights that were magazine quality taken with a time lapse lens to capture the colors. We loved those. There was hot chocolate and Vodka ( appealing to the younger folks). We then went off roading to another site. It took 4 hours in all from 8 to 12 midnight. So dress warmly. and be prepared. It was truly memorable. Bev and John
Our experience with the SuperJeep was very good. We hired the Service a day earlier because we were hoping it would be the best day to see dawn (according to the forecast of that week). On the day, the weather was not so good, but the tour was confirmed anyway... we left at 8 pm and our guide was very friendly throughout! They didn't give up until we found Aurora! At the time they took a lot of photos and helped those who wanted to take photos with their machines too! It was worth it!
Super punctual team, very cool and safe car. We left on a train with several other Enterprise jeeps in search of the Aurora Boreal. Despite the team moving from one point to another in the hunt for the lights, we saw very little of the country's most bustling nature phenomenon. Super worth the tour because the boys take pictures, serve hot chocolate - with vodka even if the adventurer so prefers. It was worth it!
