My wife and I had the best time. We were able to see everything at our own pace. We even had time to stop at the tomato farm. All of the sights were amazing, but our guide was the best part of our tour. He told us stories that kept us entertained while he was driving in between sights. We had the best time!!!

The Kerid crater is distinguished by its vivid, aquamarine-colored lake nestled within the volcanic caldera. The contrasting colors of the red volcanic rock and the azure waters create a mesmerizing sight that's a photographer's dream. The relatively young age of the crater, estimated to be around 3,000 years old, adds to the intrigue of this natural wonder. Visitors can take a leisurely stroll along the rim of the crater, offering panoramic views of the surrounding landscapes and the striking contrast between the volcanic slopes and the serene lake below. The well-preserved cone shape and the accessible trails make Kerid an ideal destination for those seeking both geological wonders and scenic beauty.
Discover the serene beauty of Faxi waterfall, a hidden gem nestled in the stunning Icelandic landscape. Located along the Tungufljót River, Faxi is a captivating waterfall that offers a more intimate and peaceful experience compared to some of Iceland's larger falls. Faxi's gentle cascades and scenic surroundings make it a perfect stop for those seeking a tranquil escape into nature. Take a leisurely stroll along well-maintained paths to reach prime viewing spots, where you can marvel at the graceful flow of Faxi and capture the essence of Icelandic tranquility. The smaller scale of the waterfall allows for an up-close and personal encounter with the pristine waters and the surrounding lush greenery.
At the Geysir geothermal area, witness the iconic Strokkur geyser shooting hot water high into the air at regular intervals, creating a spectacular show of nature's power. The area is named after the Great Geysir, one of the oldest known geysers globally, showcasing the dynamic forces at play beneath the Earth's surface. Explore the bubbling hot springs, colorful mineral deposits, and the otherworldly landscapes that make up this unique geothermal zone. The Geysir area is surrounded by a dramatic panorama of Icelandic vistas, including rolling hills, mountains, and steaming vents, providing a truly immersive experience for nature enthusiasts and adventure seekers alike.
Experience the breathtaking beauty of Gullfoss, Iceland's majestic waterfall, a jewel along the renowned Golden Circle route. Gullfoss, meaning "Golden Falls," is a captivating natural wonder that draws visitors with its awe-inspiring cascades and dramatic scenery. Located on the Hvítá River, Gullfoss is a two-tiered waterfall that plunges into a rugged canyon with sheer force and elegance. The misty veil that rises from the falls creates rainbows on sunny days, adding to the enchantment of the surroundings. Explore the viewing platforms strategically positioned to provide the best vantage points for capturing the sheer power and grandeur of Gullfoss. The waterfall is not only a visual spectacle but also a testament to Iceland's untamed natural forces, as the glacial river rushes through the highlands before plummeting into the depths below.
Discover the awe-inspiring wonders of Hrafnagjá and Þingvellir National Park in Iceland, where nature and history converge in a spectacular display. Hrafnagjá, a dramatic ravine nestled within the park, offers a mesmerizing geological glimpse into the continental drift between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. As part of Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site, this area holds cultural and historical significance. Þingvellir is not only the birthplace of the world's first parliament, the Alþingi, convened in 930 AD but also a testament to the enduring spirit of Icelandic democracy. Wander through the Almannagjá gorge and stand on the Law Rock, where historic decisions were once made. Nature enthusiasts will be captivated by the park's diverse landscapes, from the crystal-clear waters of Þingvallavatn, Iceland's largest natural lake, to the rugged beauty of the surrounding lava fields.

Great experience. Very comfortable, private tour of the sites. Guide was very personable with great stories about Iceland!
It was a great tour. Our driver/guide, Bjarni, was very knowledgeable, helpful and entertaining. Would recommend to anyone who wants a private tour of the fantastic sights on the Golden Circle route.
This is a great trip of the golden circle. It’s private and the guide was very accommodating and knowledgeable. He gave us a great suggestion for dinner. It would have been helpful if he had a microphone because it was a little hard to hear him in the back of the van. But a wonderful trip and guide.
Wonderful experience with a knowledgeable guide that knew the area to avoid crowds and had great stories.
Amazing guide, amazing tour, highly recommend! Guide made the tour great. Golden circle was awesome……
We took this tour when we disembarked from our Iceland cruise on Windstar cruises. Our guide Bjami was there waiting for us. We had a great day driving the Golden Circle, he gave us information on the sights, told us stories and also took great pictures for us. Wonderful tour!
This was an amazing excursion all due to our guide, Bjarni. He took us to some great stops and was so knowledgeable about not only the stop but the entire countryside. He had some wonderful stories to tell along the way. We would highly recommend this excursion especially with this particular guide!!!
Very personal and knowledgeable about the sites we visited. Told fascinating Icelandic stories on drives between sites. Made the entire tour flexible and relaxing.
We really enjoyed this excellent tour. Bjarni was a terrific guide- we would highly recommend him and this tour. My husband and I were traveling with another couple. The van was spacious and comfortable. Bjarni used a microphone so it was very easy to hear him. Starting early allowed us to beat the crowds. Big tour buses began pulling in at each stop as we pulled out. The scenery is spectacular and Bjarni helped guide us to the best spots for views and photos. He was quite accommodating, and we stopped when we needed for lunch and restroom breaks. Bjarni narrated the tour with lots of information and funny stories. You won’t be disappointed with this tour!
Bjarni our driver and tour guide for 5 adults, was excellent. Not only did he tell us about sites, told stories about area. He is a native if the island. One of the best tours we have taken. Felt very safe while he was driving in the rain.
Absolutely wonderful! Definitely walk around Kerid crater for all the views and take all the paths at Gullfoss waterfall. Every stop has spectacular scenery and you will continually take more photos as the views are all amazing. Our guide had so many stories about Iceland and growing up there and legends and myths, it was fantastic Loved the stories. Highly recommend
What a wonderful introduction to this incredible country! We effectively had only a long weekend, meeting our adult daughter at approximately the halfway point between where we’re both based. Our tour was comfortable, informative, personalized and personable. Thank-you! We were already discussing how much we’d like to return before we’d even left.
I’ve done tours and experiences in the past in Iceland and have found that you essentially follow the same formality. With a personal tour you can choose how long or shorty you stay somewhere and have the flexibility to add extra stops and see more things than on a larger tour. The guide was so experienced and told stories along the way…worth the money!
Great day seeing the sights. Very informative. Professional and friendly. Spent from 9am to 4pm seeing the sights.
We absolutely LOVED this tour! The sites on the Golden Circle were breathtaking. Our tour guide Bijarny purposely went counterclockwise to avoid the crowds. We were SO thankful for this when we had places like Kerid Crater and Thinvillir Park to ourselves. He also took us to the "outdoor bakery" where they bake bread in the volcanic soil, explaining the entire process. While the sites are beautiful, it is Bijarni that made this tour amazing. Within minutes of meeting him, he makes it feel like you've known him for years. He is native to Iceland and one of the best story tellers I have ever met. I would take a tour with Bijarni that went no where, just to drive around with him and listen to his stories. We always book tours when we travel and Bijarni is the best tour guide we've ever had. When we go back to Iceland we will be sure to book all of our tours with Bijarni.
We found our private tour with Bjarni to be very enjoyable and relaxing. He is flexible and has an easygoing demeanour and we never felt rushed or pressured to meet a schedule. You can stay a little longer somewhere or leave earlier. He has been a professional guide for a long time and is very knowledgeable and you can ask as many questions as you like. He also had arranged the order of the tour with certain stops at the right time to minimize competing bus traffic and to provide a lunch or washroom break. We would recommend for a professional private tour.
We took private tour with Byorkin (apologies if I got the spelling wrong). We found our guide to be professional, but very flexible and easy going. We never felt pressured or rushed. We could stay longer at an attraction or leave sooner. He was knowledgeable and patient and you can ask as many questions as you like. He also based the route on your timing trying to go opposite to most large bus tours. Everything is taken care of in terms of making stops for snacks or a washroom at the right time. Seeing the sites is important, but the way you do it also contributes to the experience. We found that the no stress approach of taking an experienced guide (on a rainy day) was the correct way to go. We would recommend.
Bjarni our guide picked us up promptly at 0800 just outside our apt. Very nice Islandic gentleman with excellent English and we went on our tour of the southeastern part of Iceland. The tour took us up the southeast shore from Reykjavik to geiser spouts and later a beautiful waterfall and gorge. Then onto the national park area astride the divide between Europe and North American where we stopped for a potty brake and a sandwich/coffee. At that point, we started back toward Reykajvik. Bjarni explained a lot about Iceland and had stories galore. What a great adventure and outting. Strongly recommend.
Bjarni was terrific from setting up the tour to executing a fantastic day. He shared a mix of Golden Circle highlights with some off-the-beaten track wonderful experiences. The full day excursion flew by in a flash. We were in awe of the natural beauty of course, but also came away with wonderful knowledge of unexpected things like: -sheep sorting -cherry tomatoes - historical use of no-man’s land between the continents. Highly recommend this company and their quality excursions
We had a remarkable Golden Circle Tour today. Our guide was so knowledgeable, professional and pleasant. His personality blended perfectly with ours and he was very attentive and flexible to our needs. I would do it all over again with him if we had more time here.
We had a great Golden Circle Tour - had enough time in all the key spots, typically avoided crowds and got great first hand stories about the history and background of each stop. Guide had an in-depth knowledge of the area and multiple sagas (stories) of interest. Overall highly recommend.
Our tour guide Bjarni was amazing. Has been a tour guide for 25 years. He was extremely knowledgeable and had many interesting stories.
Long day riding, but worth every minute! Bring your phone/camera with a full battery as there’s lots of photo opportunities and the vehicle’s charging port may not be compatible with your cable.
I booked this for our stay in Reykjavik pre-cruise. Our guide Bjarni picked us up from our hotel on time. His vehicle was very comfortable and clean. His english was very good. He was an excellent guide. He was friendly and knowledgeable. He let us decide how long we wanted to stay at each stop and was flexible for rest room stops at the places, etc. He was flexible when we said we wanted a stop at one place on the tour for coffee/light snack. He knew the best places to walk/stand for the best photos. We never would have seen as many stops on the cruise in the same amount of time. He was an excellent guide and we really enjoyed our day. I can't say enough good things about him and the tour.
I highly recommend Bjarni, if you're going to spend that much time in a car with a stranger it should be with someone you'd consider a friend at the end of the day! Bjarni is an exceptional guide - extremely knowledgeable about history and folklore. He was prompt picking us up, his vehicle was very clean and comfortable, and he's obviously a competent driver on the road - we relaxed and enjoyed while he took care of the driving! He stayed aware of the weather as we were touring and stayed ahead of the tour buses to enable us to see more of the sights. He also stopped at places he thought we'd find interesting, a tomato farm! a local farm to table lunch. My only regret is that we didn't hire him for the entire trip!
Our guide, Bjarni, was friendly, very knowledgeable and could answer all of our questions. Well worth the cost of a private tour to see the incredible Icelandic landscape.
BH was just awesome . Very professional And very helpful . Even though we had not been back to Reykjavík in nearly 40 years , it was his explanations of all we were seeing that made the tour even better . He was easy to be with and would give him a 10+. Highly recommend him and would use him again as our tour guide . My wife has a mobility issue , and BH made her feel very comfortable .
It was so nice to have a car and driver to ourselves. Bjarni is an amazing tour guide and had many fun stories to tell us, besides taking us to some beautiful scenery! So very glad the cruise ship tour was sold out and that we scheduled with Viator!!
A wonderful tour of Golden Circle sights, very friendly, knowledgeable local guide. He knew the area well, and best areas to park as well as avoid the most crowded times. We really enjoyed the day and would highly recommend .
Bjarni was first rate. Excellent tour of the Golden Circle and a great day. A highlight of Iceland. He took us to locations we didn’t even know about like the tomato farm and a farm to table lunch. Perfect option to have guide meet your at ship terminal, spend the day with you and then drive you to your hotel in town. Worth every penny!
Our driver/guide was extremely knowledgeable and told us very interesting stories about Iceland and the various places we visited, as well as the history and folklore. It was great to be able to adapt the itinerary to suit what we wanted to do and how long we wanted to spend in each place. The scenery was amazing and our tour was enhanced by the personal stories Bjarni shared with us.
This private tour was worth the splurge as we avoided large crowds and could stay or leave when we wanted. We covered everything a group bus tour would in less hours. Sights are amazing and our driver/guide Bjarni was outstanding! He was so knowledgeable, friendly and helpful. Highly recommend as a treat to yourself especially if you can split 3 ways!
Wonderful day with our guide. He was so knowledgeable and had great stories about folk tales and information about the country. He had actually lived in the area we toured as well as being a guide for many years.
Our tour guide was excellent. He demonstrated exceptional knowledge, passion, and enthusiasm, bringing to life Iceland with insights and stories.
We took the gold circle tour and Bjarni, the tour guide was excellent! He was knowledgeable, informative and shared a lot of history we never would have known! As a world traveler, Bjarni stands out as one of the best guides we’ve had.
Guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. We were able to add a stop that we really wanted. Lunch recommendation was amazing.
This was a fabulous tour! So many beautiful things to see and made all the better by the exceptional customer service. This was my second private tour with Bjarni and cannot recommend him and BTH Travel enough. He was flexible and attentive to our interests and we never felt rushed. He answered all of our questions and provided context for what we were seeing but did not overwhelm us with information. Thoroughly enjoyed our day!
Long day but worth it. Having a private tour made the day more enjoyable. Bjarni, our guide, explained everything and escorted us all around. Kept us engaged with stories of the areas we were seeing and told us tales of the elves.
Our guide was excellent, thoughtful & humorous. The scenery was stunning. I would highly recommend this tour, we also got to know more about the history & culture of Iceland.
We appreciated the timeliness, history, pleasant conversations and overall personalized experience. We would highly recommend a private tour as we were enjoying the circle tour at our pace.
Bjarni was very knowledgeable and professional. He was very flexible. We were traveling with a five year old and he was very accommodating. He told us many interesting stories about Iceland’s history and culture. 10 out of 10!
This the first of our two days with Bjarni. He is incredibly knowledgeable on the area, and I’d recommend him for any Iceland tours. While our tour included the “main attractions” of the Golden Circle, Bjarni also took us to a few lesser known sites such as an inactive crater, a place when the locals bake bread underground, and an impromptu pit stop at a great tomato farm. We started before other tours, which kept us in front of the crowds all day. What sets Bjarni apart is his stories. From his experiences of living on a sheep farm in the area to his icelandic folktales, any time in the car went by quickly! This was a highly memorable trip as a result of Bjarni!
Bjarni was an excellent guide hitting all the high spots and more. Waterfalls, geysers, craters, original parliament, merging of the European and North American plates, tomato hothouse. Bjarni provided background and added value. He gave us suggestions and options.
Absolutely great day! We were able to visit all the main sites of the Golden Triangle. Our guide somehow managed to time each visit to avoid big bus crowds. We even saw a few extra stops. Guide had wonderful knowledge about everything and was extremely interesting. Especially loved hearing about some of the bizarre Icelandic fairy tales. His English was excellent and he had a microphone so everyone could hear him while he kept his eyes on the road. Awesome day with a great guide.
Beautiful experience. Our guide went above and beyond to make the trip as pleasant as possible. He took the time to add some extra stops and told amazing stories along the way, ensuring we got to see everything while getting a nice background of Iceland and its people. Simply a must do!
We got sunning views of the waterfall and it's well worth the visit. Knowledgeable local guide. The waterfall is quite busy most of the time, but you can still quite easily get good views. The weather can be brutal depending on when you go. The geysers are hit and miss. Sometimes nature doesn't perform. Still really worth going. Beautiful scenery on the way in.
This is an outstanding tour. We were in awe of all the beautiful scenery. From the magnificent grandeur of the Gullfoss falls, to the visually stunning Kerid Crater, the serene beauty of the Faxi waterfall, the highly active Geysir, to the remarkable volcanic landscape of gorges, waterfalls, and lakes of Thingvellir National Park. The experience was amazing and exceeded all of our expectations. Bjarni, our guide, was knowledgeable, personable, and easy going. We learned a lot about Icelandic history and their folklore. Bjarni also shared with us many of his experiences growing up in Iceland. We highly recommend this tour.
Amazing excursion experience! Wonderful guide! Very easy going and extremely informative! Even though it was a misty overcast day, we had a great time. Would highly recommend this tour!
We enjoyed the private tour very much. Pjarni was a great guide. We enjoyed the three waterfalls most of all. Also, we made a pit stop at the Frioheimar Tomato Farm Greenhouses. Very interesting. The Kerio Crater with its Red cliffs and blue pool was very pretty as well. We had lunch at the Efstidalur Farmhouse Restaurant. Good food and homemade ice cream. We treated our guide to lunch. Our guide took the drive counterclockwise instead of the usual clockwise, so we avoided most of the crowds and tour buses. It was a day well spent.
