Northern Lights Small-group Tour With Hot Chocolate & Photos

Amazing experience. Ionut really knew the northern lights!! He thought he saw something pulled up and it paid off massively! We was so lucky to have him as our driver!!

We initially undertook the trip on Wednesday 28th October but it wasn’t successful despite Baldwin’s valiant attempts to make it happen for us. The sky was not kind to us with high cloud everywhere. As promised, we were able to rebook for free and chose Friday night. The process for rebooking was smooth and thank you to Eugene for sorting this out for us! Hawk was our guide on Friday and was equally knowledgeable, interesting and helpful as Baldwin. This time we were in luck and wowzers, what an awesome experience. We were super lucky to find openings in the sky to witness the Aurora and what a sight. Gorgeous! The hot chocolate and kleinur were very welcome as well as the cosy blankets. The photos that were sent through afterwards are a lovely moments of a special evening. Thank you to the entire team.

Seeing the Northern Lights is not guaranteed, but awfully special when you do! The driver "Simon" was exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly.

It was easy pickup and interesting conversation. The spots visited were intended to give the best chance of viewing the northern lights. Despite the weather being mostly clear, the solar flares were not in our favor at the rights times in those locations that evening.

Sævar was particularly exceptional in giving us information about the Aurora (including the science behind it all), Iceland and everything in between! Best guide we’ve had in Iceland by far!

While we didn’t see any northern lights on the night we went it was not without effort! Our guide tried multiple spots and locations to try and see. Blankets were provided while we were outside which was great. Overall it was worth the effort. If the northern lights were viewable when we went we would have seen them on this excursion.

Great tour, great guide, worth the money

This tour was hands down the highlight of my trip! I’m so glad I chose this company. Unlike other Northern Lights tours that follow a fixed schedule or stay in one location, this experience is all about actually hunting for the Northern Lights, driving to different spots until you find the best conditions to see them. Our guide, Saevar (Simon), was incredibly knowledgeable and genuinely passionate about what he does. His enthusiasm made the whole experience even more special. We were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights, and he even took some amazing pictures of us under them! I couldn’t recommend this tour enough. If you’re visiting Iceland and want a truly memorable Northern Lights experience, this is the one to book!

Our guide, Siggy was amazing. We had a night with unexpected high activity...but also intermittent rain. He found a spot that was perfect right away and we had a half hour under the lights! He was so knowledgeable and told us all about how they work and how to look for them when he was driving. He also has a camera and takes pictures of you under the northern lights. 3 other tour guides were calling him because they ended up missing the show under cloud cover. This was the highlight of our trip to Iceland!!!

Simon “the First” made our Northern Lights experience unforgettable. He kept us informed every step of the way, clearly knows his stuff, and made the whole trip feel easy and fun. On top of that, he took absolutely spectacular photos. Highly recommended.

Good way to see lights with a guide if you do not want to drive and chase the lights yourself. Fun experience !

Small group tour is the way to go. It was cold but with Icelandic wool blankets provided and a lovely warming cup of hot chocolate with a pastry it was manageable. Having photos taken topped off the night. Our driver, photographer and guide, Baldwin, was brilliant

FABULOUS experience with Saevar as our guide. He is so knowledgeable regarding the area, the science, as well a great story teller. Awesome Playlist too! Saevar found us a secluded viewing area, and was so engaging with spotting the Lights. Mother Nature did not disappoint. Highly recommend this tour.

The tour with Devin was excellent. This was our second attempt (EastWest allows rebooking for free if you don’t see the lights) after the first did not work because of the clouds. I would recommend booking early in your stay to maximise the chances of seeing the lights. Devin was really engaging and funny. He found great locations that allowed us to see the lights and take great photos!

The driver and photographer Mr. Baldvin Dungal was amazing! He was very safe on the road, straight to the point, and trusted his judgment on where to find the Northern Lights, which was absolutely spot on! He was also a fantastic photographer. Hot cocoa and warm blankets made the experience even better. The small-group setting made it feel personal and special. This was the highlight of my trip to Iceland! I would do it again in a heartbeat and recommend this tour 100%. An unforgettable experience! ✨💚

I do not remember our guides name because I was so excited about the experience I was not paying attention. He was accommodating to all guest. We had a couple that had to leave because they were not feeling well and he called for transportation. He continually checked for information regarding clouds and electromagnetic fields. He took us to several sites and with his know how and patience we were able to see the lights. On Monday evening he took beautiful photos. It was definitely a once in a lifetime experience.

We scheduled an aurora chase our first full night in Reykjavik. Our EastWest guide was fantastic and drove hours out of town, letting us out any time he thought there was a chance of auroras. Sadly, the night was too cloudy and we had a no-show night. As soon as we got back, I emailed EastWest to schedule our free second chance the next night. Unfortunately, all tours were cancelled (not just for EastWest) that night due to very bad weather. On our final day in Iceland, we had a 9 hour South Coast tour planned, but I asked if we could feasibly make a third attempt at aurora chasing after our full South Coast day. EastWest made it happen. We were dropped off at 6:45 PM , had 90 minutes to switch gear and eat, then met the aurora minibus. It was a crazy night with ALL the weather, but we ended up with spectacular aurora sightings 15 hours before our flight home. I’m really grateful to our guide, who stayed out until 1AM with us, because the show was too good to quit before that.

Ionut was a fantastic guide - he told us all about the Aurora phenomena and knew how to look for and find it! It was a fun and fascinating excursion - a high recommend!

He took his time to check multiple spots until he found us the perfect location. Then, we waited. Magically, we began to see green streaks just barely noticeable by the naked eye. His camera was fantastic as he took the time to show us what he sees thru the lens and explained about pixels etc…we cannot wait to see our pics uploaded! Thank you for the best experience!

I’ve taken three tours with EastWest over two separate trips to Iceland, and I’ve always been impressed with the guides, the transportation, and the tour itself. Our guide on this trip, Alex, was friendly and enthusiastic (as well as realistic about our likelihood of seeing the Northern Lights). When they showed themselves, he made sure that we were all able to get photos with the lights in the background. I had a blast. I recommend dressing warmly and in layers. There were wool blankets for us to use during the tour as well. (Photo is my own)

The rating I am giving based on the efforts they took to take us out of the city at remote places to see northern lights despite having a very cloudy weather. We did not see a very good northern lights but you can't blame the provider for this. On a good day, I am sure it would have been worth it. If you are doing ring road, I would recommend you to wait until your last 2-3 days before purchasing the tickets to know the weather better. As we were able to see the lights from the hotels we stayed at 3 remote locations.

Our guide was excellent, and we couldn't have asked for a better light show. We got lucky with pretty much perfect conditions.

Amazing tour. We didn’t waste any time at all heading to our first spot where we were incredibly lucky to see the lights. Michaela’s enthusiasm as a guide and her generosity with the amount of photos she took for everyone was lovely, as was the hot chocolate and donuts. We moved to another spot where we saw the lights even brighter and dancing above us. I was also really grateful that Michaela took lead from the group for when we headed back, as we had seen so much of the lights it couldn’t be topped. Thank you for an unforgettable experience!

Our guide Haukur was absolutely AMAZING! What enthusiasm in everything he did such as providing interesting information and personal experiences! Taking photos , delicious hot chocolate and those treats!! I purchased the treat at a local bakery afterwards and must say Haukurs, were far superior! The tour was amazing! What a phenomenal display of Northern Lights!! Dancing in the Sky; and also just appearing out of nowhere showering down upon us. Everything about this tour was perfect. And the cozy Icelandic blankets loaned out made me come home and purchase one. Perfection.

East West run the best tours with very knowledgeable guides. We got to see the northern lights because they knew where to go!

We really enjoyed chasing the northern lights. Hawk went out of his way to educate us on the lights and how they are seen. We did have a cloudy night but he did everything he could to find us a spot and take pictures. The northern lights were barely visible with the naked eye but on camera, beautiful. Hawk also provided snack and hot chocolate, along with blankets if you get cold.

Devon was personable informative, and quite the storyteller next to the fabulous northern light display. He made the trip and unforgettable.

The tour was amazing!!! We got tour guide Simon and he was super knowledgeable and made the trip very memorable. He took amazing photos and took us to the perfect spot to see the northern lights. I recommend this tour 100% and we loved the whole experience and Simon made sure it was an unforgettable experience.

This was amazing. The sky was dancing for us! The aurora was spectacular on this evening (Oct 5, 2026). Our guide, Ionut, was knowledgeable, cheerful, and very enthusiastic about the lights. He’s also a great photographer. We spent about 3 hours and stopped at three places for the views. The only difficult part was the pickup at Bus Stop 12. There were dozens of people waiting for various tours, and we did not see our bus across the street. EastWest did a great job of reaching out to us via phone and text, to try to locate us.

Ask for Baldwin, he was the best and you're guaranteed to have a wonderful experience whether the lights come out strongly or not. He is very knowledgeable and loves what he does.

We were lucky to see (hunt) the northern lights, and Gumi made the night even better! Hilarious, passionate, and professional, he made sure nobody missed the action and took plenty of photos of us. We were scheduled to take the Northern lights tour on Wednesday evening but due to the exceptional weather on Tuesday, the tour company allowed us to switch and it was spectacular. What a fantastic experience we had with our intelligent and informative guide Baldvin D.! The night was filled with unique experiences and adventure as we chased an opening in the clouds to see the lights! Words cannot express the magic we were fortunate to find! Big thank you to Baldvin and his brother in law for a night we will never forget!

The pickup point was easy to find and only 5 min walk from my hotel . The tour guide was punctual . The mini coach bus was comfortable. There is a bathroom stop in the beginning- use it because that’s the only time you will be able to. They provide wool blankets which are so cozy. They also give you hot chocolate with a pastry which was delicious . The guide kept us informed at all times . He was honest from the start saying it’s not a guarantee to find the lights but we’re gonna try our best and have fun while searching. Seeing the stars was amazing. We finally got a glimpse of the northern lights it was faint but it was still there and that was enough for me . The guide took our professional photos with the lights and the photos came out amazing . We posed for many pictures. I received the photos in less than 2 days which was great. It was truly a magical experience . Book it !

Absolutely phenomenal experience!! Mine was a last minute reservation made through the Hotel I was staying and boy! Am I glad it worked out. Devin ( spelled with a D :-) ) was the most brilliant guide one could have for such a tour . He not only is a treasure trove of information ( delivered in the most articulate of ways -it was so good from Norse mythological interpretation of the origin of the Northern Lights to the scientific explanation of the phenomenon to tracing the latin origins of the term Aurora Borealis ) that I recorded his podcast worthy entertaining talk! BUT ! More than all that , the passion he domonstrates to Aurora chasing - a job he says he is privileged to have is unparalleled! There was no sense of beting rushed through -we spent more than 4 hours - and we were blessed to see the most glorious of sights - multiple sightings of the dancing lights - an incredibly magical experience. Devin must have taken atleast a 100 pics of our small group - paying individual attention to each and everyone of us - without even showing a hint of impatience . I dont think I have had such a pleasant experience with a tour as this one despite it being a group tour . I Highly recommend it ! And hah hah he has a great American accent ! I wonder how!😁

This is a wonderful experience, Diego was most knowledgeable, the blankets gave extra warmth, and the hot chocolate was fabulous. Unfortunately, nature was not cooperative with good lights.

We had a great experience with Haukur as our guide! He was very attentive to the solar activity while we were driving to our destination so that we could make a couple stops on the way and see the Northern Lights at their peak. And it’s a good thing he did because they became quite a bit more dim afterward. The lights were beautiful and Haukur took some great photos of the sky and the tour group. Haukur was very knowledgeable about the science behind the lights, and it was really interesting to learn from him. Thanks so much Haukur!

The Guide was amazing! He did his best to try and find the lights but the money is not worth the trip! You’re basically paying to drive around for five hours. Should definitely be a cheaper price

Our Aurora tour was unforgettable! Our guide Haukur Vagnsson was incredibly patient and persistent, driving for hours until we finally saw the Northern Lights around 1:00a.m. It was magical, and we even saw what looked like a rainbow in the sky. His dedication made the experience truly special. Highly recommend!

Baldwin was so knowledgeable about the science of the Northern Lights and did a wonderful job explaining it to the group. And the best thing—we actually got to see them!

The guide was great, funny and engaging. We were actively seeking the lights for the first half of the experience. I wish we would have continued looking for them vs. stopping for hot chocolate and then traveling back along a path with light pollution.

The lights put on a show that were absolutely extraordinary… What an experience. To top it all off my Partner proposed under the lights and Devon was gracious enough to take once in a lifetime photos of the event for us. Highly recommend
