Northern Lights Small Group Tour – Free Pro Photos & Rebooking

Although we didn't get to see the Northern lights in their full glory on the tour it was still a truly fantastic experience, Bkv (no I'm still not going to try pronouncing his name) was a funny, friendly guide, he drove us for a much further distance than expected in trying to see the lights ehich extended the length of the tour giving real value for the fee, included in that was entrance to the Aurora experience and he (his wife) makes a great hot chocolate and is heavy handed on the rum!

I cannot recommend this tour enough!!! I went out 2 nights, and had an amazing experience both times. The first night BG drove us around, actively tracking the skies and trying multiple spots rather than giving up when the cloud cover rolled in, and we were rewarded with some beautiful lights and awesome pictures on his professional camera!! Second night, unfortunately the lights did not show up, but I had a great time regardless. Can't complain when you're offered great company and Grandma's famous hot chocolate! BG was beyond knowledgable, enthusiastic, and genuinely cares that you enjoy your experience. Got offered a third retry that's valid for 3 years so hopefully will be back!!! :)) skip the big bus tours and book with BG, trust!!!

Bjorn was our tour guide. What a fantastic experience! We went out even though the sky was full of clouds. He was persistent and we traveled further than expected. We caught a few glimpses of the lights and had a wonderful time! Thank you Thor Travel!

We booked a 10 day small group guided tour with Iceland Tours. Our amazing guide BG owner of Thor Travel picked us up in his pristine bitchin’ Mercedes Sprinter Van. I chose this travel agency because of the reviews about the guide that went out of his way to find Northern Lights and used his professional cameras to take individual pictures of the group. Well guess what? On a week that had rain predicted every day but one, BG found the lights and the pictures are stunning. He went out of his way to entertain and educate us about his beloved country. Geology was his expertise, along with folklore stories and the ability to make executive decisions spare of the moment. Our group of 16 from all corners of the world got along great, especially at happy hours. BG specializes in Northern Light tours through Thor Travel, if they are there, he will find them. We think about his sense of humor every time we fasten our seatbelts. Inside joke, take the most amazing tour of a lifetime!

BG absolutely made this trip happen for us. The informative commentary was such a wide variety of history, culture, geology, current events, just everything! His knowledge and expertise around our Northern Lights experience was fascinating! The tour size was perfect and fun, the transport was super clean and comfortable, and he is an excellent driver.

BG was our driver and guide for this 8-9 day driving tour of Iceland via the ring road which included seeing the Northern Lights! We were a group of 16 adults, mostly older couples. He was entertaining, informative, jovial and a great driver too! We started off not knowing anyone but ended the trip feeling like we were all longtime friends. I highly recommend him, you won’t be disappointed!

Watching the Northern Lights dance across the sky in so many incredible colours was truly breathtaking. It felt almost like an out-of-body experience — something I will never forget! Our guide, Bjarni, was extremely knowledgeable and experienced. He went above and beyond to find the best viewing spot for us, and his dedication made the evening even more special. Don’t go to Iceland without seeing it with BG. A native Icelander, and an all-around GREAT GUY, BG knows all of iceland better than anyone. And, everyone in Iceland knows BG - and loves him. So you will see what others don’t, because BG knows all the best spots to see and photograph the Northern Lights. Plus he’ll advise you about the rest of your trip: he knows the best places to stop, the best and most authentic places to eat and stay too. He knows the entire island. Highly recommend contacting him directly to book. Talk with BG before you book anything else: if you’re lucky and he’s free, you may be able to book a small group visit or tour customized for you. He knows the history, the science, the culture (the food!), the traditions, the art. He has a new, immaculate and comfortable van, complete with Wi-Fi and is an expert driver. I’ve been on a lot of tours, and have never enjoyed a tour and experienced a country like I did with BG. You cannot go wrong!

BG is a great guide. The pictures included in the tour where amazing. BG took very nice photos of us with northern lights right behind us- a memory that will last forever!

A very rainy day made it hard for our guide to determine whether the skies would clear enough, but our guide took us anyway, even though we were the only 2 that didn’t cancel. And we saw them! What a thrill! BG was informative, interesting, and gave us such great advice that we went out again ourselves the next night and saw them again! He also had great ideas about many places to visit around Iceland. We would highly recommend this tour. It’s much more personalized.

Our travel guide Bjarni (BG) for short was amazing! His knowledge of Icelandic culture and history was wonderful. He had a great personality, was very helpful and had a great sense of humor. We travel for 6 days with BG around the Golden Circle and southern part of Iceland. He took us to all the hot spots of Iceland and even some of the secret ones that only locals know about. It was truly an amazing and breathe taking experience. Definitely will be using Thor Travel again. Already planning our next trip with Thor Travel for the full Iceland Ring Road experience ,can't wait. Thanks again for an amazing experience BG. I had a fantastic experience with Thor Travel. I spent a week with friends seeing many of the magical sites in Iceland, with the Northern Lights being the highlight. BG was our guide/operator. He has a wealth of knowledge about history, geography, culture, language, cuisine etc. He made our trip seamless. We could relax and know that every detail was covered and that nothing would be missed. BG should be the International Spokesperson of Iceland. He is THAT good!!

BG from Thor Travel provided us with the most authentically Icelandic experience! Knowledgeable, friendly, funny , and personable ! While you can’t control Mother Nature, I’m pretty sure BG has some pull with the weather. Literally going the extra mile (further out of town) to ensure less interruptions and darker conditions for optimal viewing. Book with Thor for the Northern Lights experience your imagination has created. BG is also safety focused, I felt comfortable the entire time.

Our 8-day Ring Road tour with Bjarni (BG) was the trip of a lifetime. From the moment we met, it was clear that this wasn't just another bus tour—it felt like traveling Iceland with a knowledgeable local friend who genuinely cared about giving everyone the best possible experience. Bjorni provided my family and I with amazing photos with the Northern Lights. He knew exactly where to go to get the best photos and had a professional camera set up to beat anything that a phone can do. We highly recommend him for a memorable photo opportunity.

The success is based on the weather conditions. If they are good, they will depend on your guide and where their vehicle can take you. BG was a wonderful guide. Even though we were the only ones who booked he still took us out bringing hot cocoa and twisted doughnuts (kleina). After a brief spotting he encouraged us to wait a little longer and we were treated to a beautiful display.

If you are here for the northern lights it will be up to the weather but having BG as our guide was a huge success! He hosted us with hot cocoa and Icelandic doughnuts and navigated is to his preferred spot. Sure enough…the Nordic gods were watching and we were treated with a beautiful display. BG encouraged us to wait a little longer and we experienced the most spectacular showing. Photo was from an iPhone…camera photos are even better. This is a must see and do especially with Thor Travel and their Luxury vehicle
