We had such a fabulous Silver Circle trip with Christina as our perfect host - knowledgeable, fun and interesting. We booked this trip last minute drawn in by the chance to enjoy the canyon baths but from start to finish we loved every minute. We never felt rushed, explored some beautiful landscapes, took in majestic waterfalls, visited (and fed and petted some gentle natured) Icelandic horses, enjoyed underground bakery rye bread then to top it all off had a very special trip to the canyon baths with a great guide whilst the other half of the small tour group enjoyed a lava cave visit. The canyon baths were really special - to have this spot to enjoy with just a handful of other folk felt magical and we even indulged in a glass of wine in the thermal waters. Our fabulous canyon baths guide even shared an Icelandic song as we soaked in the pools. Definitely suggest a cold dip in the river - invigorating! Highly recommend this trip - I've been fortunate to enjoy several trips and tours to Iceland and I really loved this one - a relaxed pace, we had most spots to ourselves and it was a beautiful drive all the way up and back. The full day flew by. Thank you, Christina for a great day!

Itinerary
Your first stop is Bifröst in West Iceland, a name you might recognize from Norse mythology. Here you’ll visit the Glanni waterfall, which lends a mythic feel to what’s often described as the boundary between the human and the gods’ realms. The falls drop in several steps across the ancient lava fields of Grábrókarhraun. As you take in Glanni, you’ll also have a clear view of the three Grábrók volcanic craters rising above the surrounding fields.
Deildartunguhver is the first sight on the tour - the most powerful hot spring in Europe, which is so strong that it provides hot water and power for the locals for miles around. After spending some time walking amongst the steaming clouds of vapor at Deildartunguhver, we’ll move onto Hraunfossar, also known as the “Lava Waterfalls”.
Enjoy an unforgettable visit to the Sturlureykir Icelandic horse farm. You can get as close as you want to these beautiful friendly animals and then enjoy some home made "hot spring bread" called rugbraud in Icelandic with a nice cup of coffee or ice cool water.
Our last stop is at Reykholt, which used to be the medieval home of Snorri Sturluson, a famous Icelandic historian and chieftain. Here you’ll find Snorralaug (Snorri’s Pool), another traditional natural hot spring, where local people have bathed since the 12th century. From there, we will return you to the capital city, after a day of wonder and exploration in the wilds of West Iceland.
Hraunfossar are a majestic waterfalls that stretch for nearly a kilometer over ancient lava fields, with meltwater from the Langjokull glacier pouring into the Hvita river, seen from several viewing platforms.
Just a few yards away is Barnafoss, also known as “the waterfall of the children”, a name it was given when two local children tragically fell from a stone bridge into the waters here. The grieving mother had the bridge destroyed to save others from her sad fate.
Our next stop is Husafell, a breathtaking woodland oasis and a historical site with traditional turf houses and even some “elf huts” to delight the children too. You’ll also see intriguing works by local artists, as well as the famous “Lifting Stone of Husafell”. From Husafell, you’ll now be transported in 4WD cars further inland to the Deildargil Canyon, where you’ll see Langifoss, a towering two-tiered waterfall. Very few people know about Langifoss, as it’s not mentioned on many maps, so this is a special treat.
The best part of the tour comes next, as we take you to the Canyon Baths, an enchanting and exclusive experience, a traditional Icelandic hotpot found deep in the magnificent Hringsgil canyon. Three geothermally-heated stone pools of varying temperatures (30-41°C or 86-105°F), have been built here, along with a cold-water pot and a cooling waterfall, using traditional methods and materials. The Canyon Baths are an extremely peaceful and relaxing place too, as they allow no more than twenty visitors at a time. Sustainably built in a remote location, it’s a wonderful place in which to relax and unwind, imagining what it was like for the early settlers to bathe in the same way. The Canyon Bath are situated in a protected natural environment, so that means no soaps can be used in the showers, but guests are welcome to use the facilities at Husafell for free as well. Bathing shoes and towels are also provided for you.

Bring a swimming costume and plan on enjoying the experience The baths are a wonderful end to a perfect day of waterfalls, hot springs and Icelandic horses
We booked for the canyon baths. They were amazing and so natural and private, surrounded by lava fields. Both guides, Axil and Freys, were super friendly and helpful. Even picking wild blueberries and craw berries for us to try. We stopped at a perfect viewing spot for the eclipse - though the clouds didn’t behave! Super special because it was a small group.
It was a nice enough tour, but I was expecting more stories and folklore as "sagas." We didn't get any such stories except for a little history. The first waterfall is more of a rapid and could be replaced with something else. The other two waterfalls were definitely worth seeing. The horse farm was enjoyable and interesting. There may not be another option for the lunch break, but one should be found. The buffet was very overpriced and limited. The canyon baths would have been great if the water had been hot, but it was lukewarm and not quite hot enough to overcome the cold and wind. The biggest complaint, though, is being put with another group that was going to a lava cave instead of the canyon baths. We did not go to the dwarf dwellings that were on the itinerary, probably because the guide had to get the others to the cave. We were told to wait for the shuttle to the baths but were not given warning that it would be 30 minutes of waiting in cold weather. These two tour options should not be combined in one bus. I cannot recommend this tour if it will be combined with another one.
Have proper rain gear and hat and mittens and be prepared to see things never seen before. Knowledgeable guide and careful driver.
We visited three hot springs during our trip to Iceland. On the day we went to the canyon it was raining , and besides our family of 4 there was only one traveler. This place was so relaxing and peaceful. The spring was surrounded by mountains with gorgeous views. My mom loved it so much that she keeps talking about it. I definitely recommend it.
This tour takes in some stunning but often overlooked sites. Firstly, a magnificent waterfall, with sunrise enhancing its beauty. Then an unhurried visit to a lovely Icelandic horse farm; and an opportunity to meander with them in the fields. Then to an even more astonishing set of waterfalls - lovely little walk around these to the various viewing platforms. And the day ended with a gorgeous afternoon bath in the canyon baths (which I had to myself - incredible) but even at peak only accept 20 people so never busy. Nestled in a deep canyon, these baths are small but stunning - and very civilised with changing rooms and a small bar for a glass of wine! This was my favourite tour in Iceland. It felt authentic, off the beaten track and I saw some of the most gorgeous scenery of all. Guide was educational but not overbearing - knew how to balance information with a bit of quiet time/music to enjoy the scenery. Loved it. Highly recommend
This was a small group which was really nice only 6 persons on this tour. Our guide Kristina was very personable and knowledgeable actually her voice was really soothing. The waterfalls were amazing as always Loved the horses and the dogs were a plus. I enjoyed the sweet rye with butter...yum. I love anything with butter. Anywho the topper was the Canyon thermal bath....A....mazing...totally relaxing way to end the day! Also when we went to the buffet the lamb stew was really good....thumbs up. Small group phenomenal guides, tasty food and thermal baths....a winner all around!!!!
Walter had great energy and the canyon baths were magnificent. I highly recommend jumping in the cold river at some point and also drink some of the river water! Delicious!
I had an amazing time, our tour guide Walter is very engaging and fun, the thermal bath in the canyon was very relaxing, would definitely recommend people I know to join this tour.
Visiting Canyon Baths was an amazing experience! The place is peaceful, the water is warm, and the view is stunning. I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it to anyone traveling in Iceland.
Wonderful tour! Our guide, Walter, was very knowledgeable and fun!!! The Canyon Baths were beyond amazing! The geothermal baths were spectacular!
This was an unbelievably beautiful tour, led by an experienced, witty and knowledgeable guide, Thormodur. We got to see amazing landscapes, visit a horse farm, and bathe in hot baths (very private and remote!) in the most incredible canyon. Can’t recommend enough.
We had been on another tour company before this one (both equally good - we recommend smaller groups) but we enjoyed our guide Monica, who was very personable and fun. We ended up visiting a few more sites than what was on the itinerary because we were the only ones going to the Canyon Baths. Canyon Baths were the highlight of the tour - super relaxing and secluded, highly recommend
I have a wonderful day on Silver Circle Tour with Canyon Baths. Such amazing places. Our guide Dominika gave a great details throughout the tour. You could feel her love for, I might say, her new homeland. I highly recommend this trip. I went on Golden Circle with Hvamsvik Bath last year. I am very satisfied with Nicetravel.
Excellent experience, highly recommended! Very relaxing and in touch with nature. On top of that, the guide Walter was outstanding—super friendly and made the trip a lot of fun. Amazing!
Such a cool and unique experience. Highly recommend. Our guide was amazing. I went solo and had a great time meeting other people there as well.
Great small group experience to see some not-overcrowded hidden gems. Walter was an awesome guide who kept the tour lively and interesting!
Had the nicest guide. He could tell stories about growing up in the area, we also had the outdoor geothermal bath to ourselves + 1, which provided maximum enjoyment and relaxation in the freezing winter with a glass of wine. Definitely a bucket list item and I am so glad I could experience it! Notr The stairs can be steep during winter for those who may have various conditions climbing stairs
By far the best tour out there! It felt very personalized and special exploring as a smaller group. I had Jonas as a tour guide, and now I truly feel like I was able to really connect with Iceland!
The tour was amazing and Filip our guide made it 100 times better with his excellent narrative and the music choices created a cinematic atmosphere. I felt like I am in a movie. West of Iceland, so underrated yet incredibly beautiful! Canyon baths spectacular!!
A Fantastic trip and our driver and guide Walter was fabulous and so welcoming he took us to some great locations and over all a lovely day
Where do I begin...from the very start to the very end... an amazing journey ! Shared with Walter, who I might add, was an excellent guide. Knowledgeable, witty, excellent driver and a charming character. An asset to have working for Nice Travel. Memories made, with wonderful friends...priceless 💕
Walter is an excellent guide. Sharing his knowledge on Iceland. He was also super puncture picking me up for the tour. The experience was wonderful. Thank you.
Really good full day tour, sorry I have forgotten the guides name he was a very safe driver given the road conditions, we stopped at some great photo opportunity stops, had a break for a toilet break and something to eat before the group split up with some going to the caves and me and another passenger were picked up and taken to the Natural canyon baths, It was freezing but to sit in the little pools was so good you didn't want to get out into the freezing air !!! We were picked up and travelled back to Reykjavik on the way he spotted the northern lights so we stopped for some pictures, It was a long day but really worth it, probably do the trip again next time I'm back in Iceland
The whole trip is amazing with wonderful guide. Very nice and knowledgeable guide, provided many information for each site. Gorgeous waterfalls, the Canyon Bath is an unique experience with spectacular winter view.
Great small group tour if you want to experience Western Iceland. Walter was our driver and clearly communicated the itinerary throughout the day.
Your guide Walter was so informative and funny he made the tour unforgettable. Great experience even with the weather being really windy and rain was so much fun
Had a great day and the highlight was the canyon baths. A very special experience. The guide for this part was Anna, who gave interesting info, provided towel and bathing shoes and kindly took photos. - The sights on the other part of the tour were beautiful, we were not rushed, got to a good lunch place and Filip the guide did a great job. He loves Iceland, provided interesting commentary on a range of topics and has a music playlist where songs fit to the sights. Also helpful that there were crampons available, to walk safely on some icy spots. All in all a very good experience and I fully recommend.
Everything was great - the wind acted up again, but then we had wind most of the days I was in Iceland.
The entire day was gorgeous! Wondrous Waterfalls, great cafe to buy lunch, amazing geysers, beautiful bus and fabulous guide (Atore). The grand finale is the fabulous spa time in the Hidden Canyon Pools!
The canyon baths experience was amazing, and the lava falls were great to see. It was also cool to learn a little more about the history of Snorri Sturluson.
Excellent tour! Sigi our tour guide was super knowledgeable and friendly. Spectator views and the baths was a perfect end to the day tour. Recommend this tour.
Our small family of three (two adults and our teenage daughter) had an amazing day on the Silver Circle Small Group Day Tour with a final magical ✨ stop at Husafell Canyon Baths (our favorite part without doubt). María Jóhannesdóttir was our guide and she was incredible! She even adjusted the tour to suit the physical abilities of our small group and added a tour of a geothermal horse ranch into the day for our daughter! Thank you Maria and NiceTravel for a memorable day!
We had a fab day out with Bjarki (Bear)! He told us lots of interesting facts and told us about the stories he learned as a child growing up in Iceland! At the different stops he came out and showed us to the different places and told us about the different things we could see! It was a super fun trip and we’d highly recommend. The canyon baths were stunning! Just 9 of us in total with Anna, we felt we could’ve had a little longer in the canyon baths as we only had around an hour once we met with the guide and then walked to the pools & changed. But again it was a lovely way to relax and enjoy after a day of exploring!
We did the silver circle tour with Thor of Iceland! It was our first sightseeing tour of our trip and it couldn’t have started off on a better note. Thor was such an amazing tour guide! He even sang us a song from his grandfather. Whenever I travel, I try to make sure to choose/we take tours that have local guides who can really introduce us to the culture and experiences that make it authentic — Thor did exactly that! Highly recommend!
Amazing trip and the canyon baths were stunning and so peaceful. Our guide Siddi was great throughout the whole day making sure we got to see everything and more.
This was our 3rd trip to Iceland and we have done a few different tours. This was my favourite. I almost don’t want to write a review because I want to keep the Silver Circle a secret! There were so many beautiful sights - waterfalls, mountains, craters, historic Reykholt, hot springs (amazing) and the highlight of the trip - the canyon baths, which we shared with just 2 other couples. It was honestly the best trip I’ve done and our guide was lovely and very enthusiastic about his adopted home of Iceland. Nice tour Nice Travel - thank you!
It is about 10 flights of stairs down to the canyon baths. This is not mentioned anywhere. I was not able to participate due to my medical conditions. I requested a refund and haven’t heard back from the tour company.
This was great tour. Vlad was a great tour guide. Have lots of great info and history but didn’t feel the need to fill every moment of silence. He was funny and knowledgeable. The bus was clean and comfortable. Our bus had Wifi and USB connection. I would totally recommend this tour and this tour company.
Enjoyed the Silver Circle Day Tour, I picked 3 tours with NiceTravel and although this one was the one I was looking forward to the least out of the 3 it absolutely BLEW MY MIND! My tour guide for the day was JK who was very informative and funny. It was a small group and I always felt safe and informed (important for a young girl travelling solo). My favourite part would have to have been the Canyon Baths - a great way to end the tour with a small group of people so wasn't crowded. JK was able to recommend me somewhere for dinner and happily dropped me off at the restaurant destination. Would book through NiceTravel again if visiting Iceland.
This is such an incredible and unique tour. It's the only one on Viator/Tripadvisor that offers the Hussafell Canyon Baths - as they are on private property and not easily accessible to tourists. BUT UNFORGETTABLE! Our guide Olie was funny, smart and clearly loves his country, which really enhanced the day. Being in the canyon baths is truly remarkable. It beats all the other lagoon/spring/hot bath experiences in Iceland.
The Canyon baths were the highlight of the tour , fantastic experience . Would highly recommend this tour .
Highly recommend this tour. Our tourguide JK was very nice, told us a lot about Iceland and made sure we had a great day. We saw a lot of awesome places and ended the day relaxing at the beautiful canyon baths.
We thoroughly enjoyed our Silver Circle tour. It was very different to the Golden Circle tour and focused more on the history of Iceland. Our tour guide Alfred was absolutely brilliant. We enjoyed our dip in the canyon baths. Really a great way to end the day.
I cannot recommend NiceTravel and this particular tour highly enough. From having the option to rent waterproof boots - and being able to cancel for a speedy refund after then buying my own - and promptly responding to queries, they make you feel you’re in good hands before you even join the tour. The small group aspect was great as a solo traveller as it was so much easier to talk to people than joining a coach load of other tourists, and the minibus was comfortable and spotless. Nice music too! The tour itself exceeded my expectations. Ingo, our guide, was informative and funny, and we saw a lot without ever feeling rushed. The pace of the day is just right. The highlight was the visit to the canyon baths, which is a very special experience. Highly recommended. Will book another trip with NiceTravel when I return to Iceland.
The Canyon Baths is amazing! Definitely worth to go! And u may have a surprise when u on the way back to the town >> Aurora!!!
5/5. Magnuss was very personable with lots of good information. Very helpful and kept the tourists first on the list. Felt secure with his driving
What a big surprise! (For us) A long day full of everything what you love in Island. 🙂 I have not waited very big things because its name is Silver and not Gold. Half true. Dont wait another Gulfoss or Godafoss, there is no 2nd Blue Lagoon, or something similar big name. Its a lovely, charming face of Iceland. There will be exciting waterfalls, vulcanos with crater, historian place with interesting stories, and an exclusive - only for you - hot spring in a very canyon surrounded with vulcano, to get there is only possible by private transport by the owner and its far-far away from the crowd. The tour has more sightseeings spots than i waited - its really need a day to see it. No boring points! There were not points when i feel its not what i want to see or there will be better things to do in Iceland. The guide. Our guide was a very funny and kindly guide but unfortunatelly - my memory of icelandic names are very short. 😮💨 I dont remeber his name. But i remember that all day he was informative, accurate, funny - and he loves the music. Many stories told and beetween two interesting stories, tales or facts he show us a musical 'journey'.😃 I was happy to book this tour. Thank you.
An excellent trip to an extraordinary area of Iceland. You really see the real side of Iceland. Lots of history and some great scenery too. The trip to the canyon baths was the highlight. The tour guide (Christina) was very knowledgable and so helpful - the best!
