Good captain. Narrator was informative. Saw several glimpses of whale tails, but 75 people crowd to the windows when someone yells, so it's usually too late by the time you get there. Lots of seasick people, puking in trash cans. Night trip was cancelled due to weather.

Itinerary
Whale Watching: Join a 3-3.5 hour whale watching tour from Reykjavík's Old Harbour. Your expert guide will tell you all about the surrounding area and marine wildlife that you may encounter. The four most common species that we encounter are minke whales, humpback whales, white-beaked dolphins and harbour porpoises. Northern Lights by Boat: The beautiful northern lights are visible in Iceland from September to mid-April. Join this boat tour to sail out into Faxaflói Bay to search for the auroras with an experienced guide and crew. This is a hunt for the Northern Lights, and the sightings can never be guaranteed - but after years of experience and with a little luck we try our very best to give our passengers get the best possible chance and we put great effort into making the on board experience unique and memorable! The night sky and is beautiful as well as seeing the city lights from sea. Please note that these are 2 tours and you can choose to do them on the same day or split them between days.

Fabulous tour, a must for everyone heading to Reykjavik.
Absolutely amazing experience. We were successful in seeing humpback whales on the whales tour and the northern lights on the boat trip. The tour was well run and the crew were superb. Thanks to the team for the great experience. The waterproof overalls provided (included in the price) were very welcomed!
Very detailed explanation and entertainment at the microphone while waiting for northern lights and whales. Good experience but unfortunately we went twice on NL tour and we didn't see them.
I travelled with my mum on what was truly a bucket list trip for us both, and it exceeded every expectation! We had the wonderful Kristoph as our guide — an absolute professional (the man can drive!). The Icelandic weather can be unpredictable, but Kristoph handled every challenge with confidence, making us all feel completely safe. His knowledge and stories added so much to the magic of Iceland — as if it needed more magic! The tour covered so many iconic locations, each one breathtaking. Our group was fantastic and punctual, which even allowed us to make a couple of bonus stops along the way. The glacier hike with Ivo was another highlight. He took excellent care of everyone, guiding us safely through some thrilling ice formations,an experience we'll never forget. I can’t recommend this tour highly enough. A huge thank you to Kristoph, Ivo, and the whole team for making this trip so special. It’s an experience my mum and I will treasure forever.
The tour was great...Saw loads of whales dolphins puffins etc...The boat and tour guides were excellent. Facilities on boat superb and good value. In all a fabulous day..The staff I spoke to were Joe and Lucas. They were both very polite knowledgeable and showed there obvious enthusiasm for the whales and environment etc..Very professional.....well done!!!
AMAZING! The 2 tours are split separately, my partner and I were collected outside of our hotel and driven to the harbour where we got on a boat and spent 2/3 hours watching for Whales and we saw maybe 2 or 3 humpbacks! The staff and captain were all super helpful and told us when and where to look for the whales, we were so very lucky to have seen multiple Humpbacks here in the port, literally minutes away from the city. Stunning views from the boat. Sold tea, coffee, hot chocolate and snacks. Was dropped off and re-collected 4 hours later to go back out for the northern lights tour. Once again we were blessed with clear skies and perfect weather conditions in January to see the most outstanding performance of the northern lights that I could have dreamed of. Coming away from Iceland feeling so overwhelmed with the beauty of this country!
Easy booking in and boarding process. Crew friendly and very knowledgeable. Commentator very funny and entertaining. The Captain knew exactly where to find the whales and wasted no time in providing magnificent viewing of the humpbacks. Not only was I able to get great video and photos, Special Tours also gives access to their content too (free of charge!). Northern Lights was cancelled due to poor visibility but was moved to the next evening with no fuss or charge. Not only did the tour go ahead the next night but I fulfilled my ambition of seeing the Northern Lights in the flesh.
Great tour. Can be split in half doesnt have to be doing both same day. Friendly knowledgeable staff. Great location on docs and saw both whales and the northern lights
This review is based on communications and information provided by the company. Unfortunately both the trips were cancelled due to extreme bad weather conditions. We were contacted by telephone & email well before both trips were due to depart and updated with probable cancellation. Offers of rescheduling and alternative trips given, however due to timescale we were unable to rebook. Full refund was received within 24 hours, without any problems whatsoever. On this basis I would trust the operator and booking process , and definitely try again for the trips in the future.
Fabulous time looking for the whales, and we found 2. The evening lights cruise was cancelled twice due to the weather. We went out on the 3rd night but unfortunately the lights didn't come out to play. Would still highly recommend
This company is well worth using. Expensive, yes, but no more than others in Iceland. The boat was full but not overcrowded, the crew were very knowledgeable and helpful. On the Northern lights tour they pointed out constellations and explained what the lights were. On the whale watching they ensured we got a good view of all the animals, even the dolphins that joined us. An added extra are the photos they take and publish on the web site to download for free. Two excellent trips.
Whilst we did not see any whales, we did see a few seals and dolphins. Unfortunately the northern lights part of the tour was canceled because of a really choppy sea.
We loved both of the tours we did with this company. We booked in person and the service was friendly and helpful. We did our Northern Lights tour that evening and our Whale Watching tour the following day. We took both trips on the ‘Andrea’. We found the boat to be comfortable and well maintained. Plenty of room for everyone although if you want a seat on deck we’d recommend being early. We’d also thoroughly recommend borrowing the weatherproof overalls available on board. Toastie warm throughout both trips. The staff on board ship were great and both if our guides, Massi and Patrick were engaging and knowledgeable. Patrick channelling Dory to try and call whales was joyous. When we’re next back, we’ll be booking with this company again.
We were very excited to see the humpback whales during our April 15, 2023 excursion. In addition to the excitement of seeing the whales, we also learned a lot about them. Our tour guide was quite knowledgeable and personable. The overalls available on board were just what we needed. We also went to try to see the Northern Lights on April 11, but were unsuccessful. We still had an enjoyable time, as there were beautiful views of the lights of Reykjavik from the boat. I was pleased to find out that I can go on another Northern Lights tour free of charge the next time I visit Iceland. (We had the opportunity to try again on another night during our trip, but we had other plans and thus were not able to try again during our April visit to Iceland.)
Whales everywhere an amazing day, Northern lights didn't make an appearance due to weather but the boat trip and crew and the free lights trip anytime again. Excellent.
Amazing experience thanks to the BEST guide Iris. Thank you! 5/5. Super friendly, flawless crew. Made the stay so much more worth it.
If you want to have a fantastic time watching whales make sure Iga is your guide. She’s got mad whale watching spotting skillZ (yes with a capital Z). The whales must really like her because we saw 3 humpbacks all playing around near the boat. I think they must have been watching us… Thanks for an amazing and unforgettable experience!!
We were booked on this two-part trip. Unfortunately we received a call in the morning to say that the whale-watching trip on that day was cancelled due to weather, but it was re-booked for another day. The Northern Lights trip did go ahead and the trip was as good as we could have expected in the circumstances. The boat was large with all the facilities you would expect, plus warm body-suits were available to allow us to stay on deck if desired without getting frozen. We did get to see the lights, although it was only for the last 30 minutes of the trip and they were fairly underwhelming in all honesty. Obviously that’s not the fault of the tour company, but it did mean we needed to book additional trips on subsequent nights to try and see a better show, as having technically seen the lights on our booked trip, we couldn’t take advantage of the offer of additional free trips should the lights not appear. The postponed whale watching trip was also cancelled due to weather, but when requested, we did received a partial refund on the tour cost, as we were unable to do the whale-watching before the end of our trip.

Whale watching Brilliant saw 5 minki whales unfortunatley didnt get to do the northern lights part of the tour as it was rough sea or cloudy all the time we were there.

Theses were 2 different trips on the same day. The whale watching was great - we saw porpoise and dolphins and followed them around the bay. The Northern Lights was led by a guy who was very boring, had little information and we felt although we saw the Northern Lights - it was a poor experience

We didn't see any whales and all members of my party vomited. Felt like 3.5 hours of torture.
They said we could go again but there was no way we were getting back on that boat! We had been warned of rough waters but the trip should have just been cancelled so that we could get a refund.

Really good tour especially as the tour guides were extremely informative. Even though we did not see any wildlife on our whale watching tour, I would still rate this trip 5 star due to the fact that it is not the company's fault that the whales did not come out to play but they have offered us an open expiration for another tour if we go back to Iceland. It was a nice day trip and evening trip especially as we were lucky enough to see the Northern Lights!

This tour company has a great reputation with the local community of Reykjavik "old harbor" and it shows in the quality and professionalism throughout the entire crew. Easy to find, great guide that is well educated and no matter where you wandered on all decks you could hear him perfectly. AWESOME

Never went ahead due to low activity cannot comment

Really good northern lights tour, lucky to see them sue to activish and clear skies. Good smooth sail on both. Unfortunately not able to see whales/dolphins - but company did offer another trip free of charge was our last day so couldn't capitalise. Very good tour guides/speakers. Entertainment was a bit novel on northern lights tour, and speaker system not so great on whale watching tour. Definitely worth the money though.

We chose a cruise to search for northern lights and were rewarded. Unfortunately this looks much better on photographs then in reality. However, considering that other coach trips were cancelled on that night due to bad weather we were quite pleased.

Fantastic, the tour company was great to work with. I will definitely use them again.

fortunate enough to see the lights on our tour and was a great night out on the water

The day we went to view the Whales we only saw a few but received passes that do not expire in we go back to Iceland. The Northern lights were fabulous. Would highly recommend.

The crew was great, informative and patient. I absolutely loved it!

Failed to pick us up from our hotel, despite us telephoning the tour operator and telling us they were running late but re-confirmed our booking. On the second telephone call we were told the cruise had already left and implied it was our fault. We would have seen the lights if they had collected us. Visiting the tour operator the following morning we rearranged, but were given another explanation implicating Viator. We were picked up on the second attempt but cloud cover meant no lights could be seen.

Incredible experience would like to do it again.
