The day was amazing start to finish. Kalman was a great guide getting us to all the locations and missing the crowds. The ability to have our own personal guide in the super cool jeep was invaluable. The sights were breathtaking and being at the Katla glacier felt like we were on another planet. One of my top ten things I've ever done! It was so beautiful and surreal seeing the blue green ice on the lava and snow. Definitely a MUST DO if you are in Iceland!

One of Icelands classic waterfalls, this one has a little twist. Certainly not one of Icelands biggest waterfalls but what makes Seljalandsfoss different is that most of the year you can actually walk behind the cascading water. This really makes for a unique experience.
The Katla glacier is a tongue, a flow of ice that comes from Mýrdals glacier, Icelands forth largest glacier. At the base of the Katla glacier are many caves, created by water which pours down the glacier in the warmer months of the year. The area is fascinating, raw nature at its best, proper movie making landscapes. Crystal blue ice caves, rugged Icelandic nature and towering mountains of ice. Prepare to be amazed!
Vík is the southernmost village on the south coast of Iceland, located on the ring road. Famous for its beautiful landscapes, black sand beaches and strange rock formations, Vík is a great place to visit.
Skogafoss is one of Iceland’s classic waterfalls and truly magnificent. 65 meters tall and 25 meters wide making it also one of the biggest waterfalls in the country. Legend has it that there is a chest of gold hidden behind the waterfall. You’ll have to be as strong as a viking to get to it though.

Einar took is on a private tour of the Katla Ice Cave. He was very knowledgeable and took the initiative to show us much much more of the entire area. We’ve gone on a lot of adventures and he was one of the best guides we’ve ever had.
Very interesting tour to the ice cave. I wasn't expecting a large cave (more like a tunnel) since it was nearing summer. Short hike to the cave with some steep up/downhill. Not strenuous but just have to be careful because you're hiking on gravel. We also stopped at some of the highlights of the south coast- big waterfalls, caves and black sand beach. Our guide was hard to understand at times but provided good information on the area. Long day for a cruise stop but very enjoyable.
Peter picked us up with a rather old “lady” (Ford Excursion). We were warned that she was a bit noisy and worn but still pretty. He was right. We had an amazing tour with really nice spots that is a must if you visit Iceland. We left Reykjavík where the sky was blue, but the weather changed when we came to Vik. It was really pouring down and we got soaked but we forgot all about it when we arrived the ice caves. A memory for life. Peter was smart on his route and we avoided the “big crowds”. Because this is a popular trip. A few tips and improvements for the Ford Excursion is: - Upgrade the speaker system for the guide (very hard to hear) - USB charger (11 hours of picture taking with phone drains it) the car had 2 but none working. Yes, it is noisy and bumpy. But come on folks. It’s an off-road truck. (Could go more off-road next time please :)) All in all an amazing trip and great guide
This trip was AMAZING! We came during low season and had a group of 6 people in total. Having a small group allowed us the perfect amount of time to take pictures and experience the beautiful scenery at each location. Our tour guide ( His name is Ainar ) made sure we were the first group to get to most of our locations which was a plus. I would recommend booking the south coast tour that includes the ice cave because you also get the chance to walk on top of some glaciers. It is incredicle. We had many oppurtunities to stop for restrooms and grab some snacks. Overall, you can't beat this experince.
This was an amazing trip . The ice cave was absolutely stunning and like nothing I have seen before, but we did so much more - 2 waterfalls, and a black sand beach . The guide was really informative and friendly. We saw much bigger groups during our stops and our group of just 6 skilfully avoided them so that we virtually had the ice cave to ourselves . This is a must do trip
All the places we visited were excellent The waterfalls were beautiful, the black beach, the ice cave unforgettable, the views during the whole trip were amazing. Our guide and driver was good. The car :defender, was little uncomfortable . It was for 6 people but we are a family of 3 and the second row of the car was a really small for us for that long trip . Still a great tour
Saturday 11th of March. The above tour landscape was amazing Peter the Guide/drive was very good particular at the ice cave However the standard of transport was very disappointing for the following reasons Cabin very noisy could not hear most of Peter’s commentary. Seats wear not contoured therefore sliding on seats quite a bit. Three of the passengers did not have head rests just as well there were not any sharp breaking or emergency stops. Heating took the best part of two hours to remotely work. Back seat support for back poor Only one door for entrance and exit for the back two rows. Was the left hand rear door broken? Seat that moves forward for to let people out of the back row was sticking and jammed at times. Steps to get in and out unstable preferred not to use them. In short this vehicle was not of a standard that would be expected for such a tour. It made the journey very uncomfortable. Your vehicle fell far short of the wonderful landscape that we were taken to. Also informed by the driver at the end of the tour that other have complained about the noise I would hope that this vehicle would not be used again as I consider it to be unsafe. I am still waiting to hear for the company who has not answered my concerns, hence I have taken to leave the review.
Einar is the best! The trip was wonderful and the scenes were beautiful! Einar helped us take a lot of photos and he was humorous and patient. Best trip in the Iceland so far.
This tour was amazing, and so was the guide, Thomas. Honestly, this is the only way to do this tour, in a very small group. While driving us to each destination, Thomas explained throughly the sites we were seeing and answered all of our questions. He also told us a little about the history of Iceland. Once we got to the ice cave, he helped us put on all our gear and gave us a personal tour of the cave. Do not go in the big groups, this is worth the money! Probably the best thing we did the entire trip.
Peter was a very knowledgeable and friendly guide who took us to so many places on the south coast in addition to the ice caves, including famous waterfalls, lighthouses, the black sand beach and some other famous caves. It was our favorite day in Iceland and we loved that the group was smaller because we got to see a lot more than if we were with a bigger group. Peter is also an amazing photographer and will make sure you get the best photos of your experience. Highly recommend!!!
Wow wow wow, unbelievable day with unique scenery and a fantastic guide in Peter. Great experience! From the pick up at 8am to drop off at 7pm every moment was filled with unbelievable scenery. Peter’s knowledge during the glacier walk and ice cave experience was second to none, and it was a privilege to spend the day with him. Thanks for an utterly awesome day Peter! We would highly recommend this tour!
This was an amazing day. Our guide, Peter, was wonderful. Very engaging and knowledgeable. This was a once in a lifetime experience hiking on a glacier and thru an ice cave. On top of that, we saw spectacular waterfalls and one of a kind black sand beach. The small group setting made it a very personalized day.
What an awesome experience from pick up to drop off, amazing sights and Peter our professional guide went above and beyond to make this our favorite Iceland vacation tour. Booked thru the Exeter hotel front desk, we cannot say enough good things about the people who made this awesome experience happen.
This tour was the unexpected highlight of my trip. Each stop was magical. Peter, the tour guide, was very attentive and knowledgeable. I followed his lead and drank the water off the glaicer's ice in the cave. That experiment was amazing. I couldn't have experience that if I went with a larger (30-60 people which was saw 2 of them) and cheaper tour. The money was well spend.
This tour was the highlight of our 4 night trip to Iceland ! Peter was a great guide and a perfect balance of friendly and knowledgeable. If you are going to choose any tour to splurge on, this is it!! It’s a long trip from Reykjavik so the small group comfort and flexibility is nice to have. Also when you’re in a dangerous ice cave that you cant even wrap your mind around you’ll want that individualized attention from an expert. He said he did search and rescue in his home country- how much safer can you feel ? As a nice bonus he took nice photos of me and my husband so we didn’t have to worry about that and could just marvel at the scenery. The caves themselves are magnificent and I could have looked at them all day! It’s really unlike anything I’ve ever seen before and was a complete thrill to see them in person. We had snowfall during the majority of this tour and that just made it absolutely magical. They provide necessary equipment like helmet, crampons and harness but this is definitely a tour you’ll want to wear all that winter stuff you packed for iceland! This tour requires you to walk a bit from parking area to the caves then walking along some planks through the caves and some small climbing or moving across flowing water. Most people can do handle this no problem but you have to be some level of fit I would say. There are ropes and safe ways to do all of this and but there will be points you’ll be happy you have such individualized attention. The off roading portion to get to the caves itself is also a blast. We had white out conditions on the way in then peaceful stillness on the way out so it was cool to witness both types of winters beauty. So on top of an epic fun cave adventure this tour was also a great way for us to see some of the main sites of the South Coast for someone who is not self driving. We hit Skógafoss, Reynisfjara and Seljalandsfoss on part of our journey to/from the cave. We had plenty of time at the sites to look around and take photos. We made stops along the way for breaks and a lunch length break at Vik. I think the small group helped us to do this long day much more efficiently than if it’d been larger. The shorter tour time vs other south coast tours is definitely part of what drew me in. It was a bit longer than what listed but I still nowhere near the 14 hours I saw often for other tours. A little note - on our way back we did stop for a little to help a van who had flat tires or something. I did not mind this at all that this added to our time and actually felt it spoke to the kindness and integrity of our guide and gave me a sense of ease to see how they look out for one another. #iceicebaby
11 hours tour from Reykyavik with the most amazing vistas all the way. The first stop was the beautiful Skógafoss waterfall, Then we went to the spectacular black beach battered by ferrocious Atlantic waves. The drive across a vast, snow covered field took us to the base of the Mýrdals glacier ( that is an experience on its own). From there we walked across the glacier to the magical Katla ice cave, a natural wonder created by forces of nature. Our guide Thomas provided us with all the safety kit needed and shared his extensive knowledge about this spectacular marvel. On the way back we stopped at the Seljalandsfoss waterfalls and accepted an invitiation to see the magnificent chamber inside it, splendidly decorated with myrads of the most intricate icicles. Got wet there but it was worth it! Amazing experience, worth every penny. Thank you Thomas for going above and beyond, making it an unforgetable adventure.
We had to delay our tour and reschedule for a day later due to poor weather. Unfortunately, the weather was still not great the second day. We were provided three options: 1) continue with the tour, but the Katla ice cave was not accessible and was replaced with a hiking visit to another glacier. We were provided a substantial partial refund. 2) we could have rescheduled again, but this was our last day in Iceland. 3) we could have skipped and received a full refund. We selected option 1 and were not disappointed! Kalman was an EXCELLENT tour guide. Unable to control the weather, Kalman did the next best thing by providing safe alternatives and educating our small group about Iceland, glaciers and Northern Lights. Kalman made this experience one we will never forget and will keep fond memories. If we ever have the opportunity to return to Iceland, we will certainly book again with Waterfalls and Glaciers!
Visiting the ice cave at Mt Katla in a semi-private group was definitely worth it. The tour guide was great with time and help us beat the big tour groups. Our groups (just 3 people + guide) had plenty of time to take photos, muck around in the snow and just absorb the beauty of the ice cave without anyone ruining the scenery (and photos). The route we take was great too. We ticked all the spots on South Coast. We had a great time doing this tour.
Everything about this tour was amazing. We stopped at the Black Sand Beach near Vik, and when we got to the ice caves we wore helmets and crampons to walk across the ice and snow and into the Katia Ice Caves in the heart of the glacier. The caves are dark and the walls are smooth and dry like frosted glass. Peter the tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable, the jeep was warm and comfy, and despite small inconveniences (like getting bogged) the tour went smoothly. Overall a well-planned, safe and unforgettable tour!
Peter was the most amazing guide. The tour was perfect in every way. Peter had so much knowledge about the area and made the tour so much fun- would recommend to anyone! He went over and above to make sure that we all got the absolute most out of the day and even arranged a new drop off location so we could make our Northern lights tour at night! Thank you so much for a bucket list day we will NEVER forget!
We had an amazing experience with Peter as our guide. Our Airbnb stay was outside of Rejkyavik and we were not able to drive to the pick up spot because the snow was too high. Peter came out of his way to pick us up which was incredibly appreciated! I would 10/10 recommend this experience, the sights were amazing and Peter was very knowledgeable and happy to answer all of our questions.
Such a fun adventure! Peter was an incredible tour guide- knowledgeable, funny, and took lots of awesome photos. The ice cave was a really unique stop- would definitely recommend this experience!
What an amazing experience! The ice cave was the highlight. Tom was a great guide. The vehicle was comfortable with many stops along the way. I met some lovely people too. Definitely an experience worth having! Highly recommend.
Tom was our guide today! Overall, this was such a wonderful experience! I really enjoyed the small group setting. Tom was a great guide and super knowledgeable about all things Iceland. I would recommend this tour for anyone who enjoys the outdoors!
We had a great day with Tom. His expertise, knowledge and attention to safety ensuring we were well informed about Black sand beach plus in Katla ice cave was exceptional. Tom's sense of humour was great and added to making the day friendly and informative. The group size was perfect and we had plenty of time at each destination especially Katla Ice cave. Larger groups had minimal time that we observed whilst we were there. The jeep was comfy and across the glacier allowed a bit of fun off roading through large puddles and down steep areas. We felt in safe hands with Tom. It was a full day and well worth the money. We got some great photos and memories. Thank you Tom for making the day so enjoyable.
Carmen did a great job showing us waterfalls, vik and the black sand beach. Katla was phenomenal - he made us feel safe and made sure that conditions were safe before bringing us in different areas in the ice cave. A once in a lifetime opportunity!
A truly unique experience, magnificent views, we were accompanied by an excellent guide and driver Peter
One awesome and fun Saturday! Many thanks to our Hungarian guide, he was marvellous with sharing information, driving around and taking photos of us. Being professional all the way!
Glacier walk.. our tour guide Einar was pretty good n informative for our whole trip. He was on time and very courteous.
Amazing experience. If you join this tour, you will get a nice overview of the South Coast of Iceland by visiting its main attractions. After that - there will be the gem of the trip: Katla Ice Cave. An unbelievable natural scenery, for which I would be forever thankful. The biggest thank goes to our guide of the day, Kalman, who made our tour unforgettable. Many thanks also to Einar for his professionalism and adventurous spirit!
Really good. The driver /guide knew about where we we’re going and made a point of ensuring that the group were aware at all times.
Thanks to Einar we spent an incredible day in the south of Iceland! We were very happy to live some special places with a small group of people. Highly recommended!
our tour guide was absolutely amazing!! His name was Einar Samuelsson he was so funny and did a great job telling us about the sites and educating us on Iceland
Do not miss this totally outrageous adventure. Our guide Éinar is amazing from the minute he picks you up in a super jeep. It’s wet and wild. Do not forget to bring change of clothes..you are not going to get wet…you will get SOAKED! The Katla Caves are breath taking. Pictures do not do it justice. This tour gives you a chance e to grab something to eat but they don’t waste your time with a fancy sit down meal. No time for that. This is about the adventure only! This is about you. You are not rushed. Only 6 people on our tour. DO NOT MiSS IT!
Wonderful and impressive tour and our guide (Peter) was amazing and shared a lot of additional facts and insights. We really enjoyed the tour!
My 10 year old son and I had the most incredible experience on this trip. We made lifelong memories. I can’t say enough about this wonderful tour. Einar was the best guide - funny and informative. You can really feel the passion he has for his country. We want to come back and do the highlands tour with him next time.
What an amazing day. From being picked up in Reykjavik in a HUGE monster truck, to walking up onto a vast beautiful glacier, to standing inside a magical ice cave, to admiring (and gettig soaked by) magnificent waterfalls, the whole day has been wonderful. Peter, our guide, was so friendly, knowledgeable, and anticipated our every need. He led us through the short climbs over rocks and streams with care and made sure we were safe at all times. He told us all about the geology and history of the areas we visited, with humour, making it all so interesting. I would thoroughly recommend this tour - it's more expensive than larger tours, but off-roading in the supertruck is just the most fun, and Peter made the tour personal to us, which made the whole experience extra special. My only advice would be to wear strong shoes/walking boots and a proper waterproof coat as these will make walking up the glacier easier and more enjoyable. Thanks Peter for a truly memorable day.
We had an excellent tour of a glacier, with ice cave, around huge mountain, and to the coast. Thanks to our amazing guide Peter!
Peter was a fantastic tour guide! We did the glacier and ice cave tour and he made the whole trip from start to finish fun and informative. He was also considerate - making sure we could easily get into the super jeep, conscious of bathroom / snack stops before heading onto the glacier. Once underway, he explained the geology of a glacier to us, talked about Icelandic culture and provided entertaining folklore. He was also chock full of recommendations for other places to visit. He was careful leading us over the ice, and showing us an ice crevice and then the ice cave. It was great to be on a small tour - it was very personalized and fun.
We had an awesome afternoon with our guide peter. He was very knowledgeable, flexible and made the tour so much fun!
Our guide Tom Warner had a real sense of adventure, taking us off the beaten track. As a small group, the adventure gets tailored to the group and there is no waiting for masses of people to come back to the bus. The Katla cave is just breathtaking, as well as the waterfalls and it was so fun stomping up the glacier with the crampons, a first for me. The ride in the jeep is fun, my bones didn't rattle which says a lot a out the driver and vehicle. Tom was very patient at all the stops giving us plenty of time to enjoy the natural wonders. Really enjoyed the guide-guide banter with other guides we met along the way. The adventure is a must-see before the ice tunnels (and the glaciers) melt completely!
Loved it all - ice caves, glaciers, waterfalls and more! Get to see the parts of Iceland you wouldn't otherwise see. Great guide - thanks again, Tom!
Wow! What an unbelievable experience we had today exploring the south coast and ice caves of beautiful Iceland! Our tour guide, Tom, was so extremely knowledgeable on the Icelandic history, culture and beautiful waterfalls and ice caves that we explored. Tom went above and beyond by giving us tips on how to get the perfect picture and where the best views can be found. Our day was packed with adventure and beauty! We explored the beautiful south coast with the black sands beach, Katla Ice Caves and amazing waterfalls at Seljalandfoss. My friend and I had the best time and we feel it wouldn’t have been possible without the experience and knowledge of Tom!
Our guide Tom, was brilliant, knowledgeable and did everything to make the journey and experience exciting for us. The Ice cave Katla is one of the most beautiful sights on earth.
Once in a lifetime experience! Loved all the waterfalls and going through the ice caves!! Definitely dress warm.
This day trip was absolutely amazing & we couldn’t of asked for more. We were very lucky to have the jeep to ourselves. We had James as our guide who is such a nice chap. He is very well informed & shared lots of facts and information all day and was happy to be flexible with activities & stops along the route. Scenery was out of this world & the glacier experience is beyond words. Well worth the cost for a truly memorable experience. Highly recommended.
Amazing experience! If you really want a true Icelandic experience, this is the tour for you. Highly recommend 👍🏻
What an amazing experience! We already had a fantastic stay in Iceland and this was, on our last day, the most overwelming experience. Our guide Einar is a great guy, he told us all kinds of facts and stories about everything we saw and or passed by. The landscape, the serenity and silence nearby the vulcano and on the gletsjer as well in other places we went were extraordinairy and overwelming. Einar asked us why we were so quiet at some moments... Simply impressed and speechless.... This was definitely a day we'll never forget. We highly recommend this tour and also Einar as guide!
If I could give this tour 10 stars, I would. James took me, my 75 year old mother and my 11 year old son out for the day. We all agree this is the best thing we have done in our lives! It was an incredible experience from start to finish. Waterfalls, black sand beach, glaciers and ice caves. Both serene and thrilling. Small tour in the superjeep is definitely the way to go.
