Itinerary
To begin your tour we usually start at the geothermal exhibit, where you can learn what really goes on inside Iceland and how we create our 100% renewable energy from our volcanoes and glaciers.
You will discover the one of our most beautiful volcanic craters with a lake hidden inside, your guide will explain how the volcano was made and why it's so unique to find. the views from the top rim are delightful, it can be accessed by all.
On your journey through Icelands landscapes you will stop at the famous fridheimar green houses to see how we farm our fruit and veg with our geothermal energy, and of course give the fresh tomatoes soup a try, if we can stop here we will take you to our neighbouring farm to try the mushroom soup.
You will stop to marvel and explore the the shooting Geysir of Strokkur. The hot spring erupts out of the ground every 4-8 minutes with boiling water, the whole area is saturated in small bubbling springs to explore.
This waterfall is one of the grandest in Iceland, it holds a heart warming story of the locals that battled to keep its existence. There are many view points that sound this magnificent waterfall for you to enjoy.
Here at the geothermal lakes you can see how our traditional rye bread is made, if you are lucky and we time it right ,you can try the freshly baked geothermal bread from the sands of the lake.
The national park is on set on the edge of the tectonic plates, as the rift valley collapses into its self the massive walls show the scale of the mid-atlantic ridge splitting Iceland in two. you will have time to explore the site along with seeing some heritage waterfalls, where the first parliament in history was formed giving its national park status.

If you are traveling to Reykjavík, touring the Golden Circle is simply a must. And there's no better way to experience this magnificent landscape than by a private tour lead by a knowledgeable and experienced guide. We booked what turned out to be an 11-hour tour with Josip at EV Travel (through Viator) and our day was nothing short of fantastic. Our tour included the Geothermal Exhibition & Power Plant, the Geysir of Strokkur, Kerid Crater, Thingvellir National Park, Friðheimar Tomato Farm for lunch and, of course, Gullfoss Falls. Josip provided an in-depth narrative at each location and gave us a real sense of this wonderful place. His English language skills are excellent and he's easy to understand at all times. Please note that there's a fair bit of walking/hiking involved to fully appreciate all that this beautiful landscape has to offer, but you can do as much or as little of this as you choose. This is a tour we highly recommend without hesitation!
On Saturday evening, Josip spontaneously agreed to take us on a trip to the Strokkur geyser and Gullfoss waterfall. It was a very pleasant tour in a very well-maintained Mercedes van. During the ride, he entertained us with his knowledge of the sights and Icelandic customs.
We took a private Golden Circle tour with EV Travel and can't recommend them highly enough. Our tour was led by Adrian, who is throughly knowledgeable about the geology and history of the area, conveyed through his excellent narration. Of course, the scenery was spectacular! I especially like standing on the highlands overlooking the rift valley with its deep fissures tearing apart the land. I really enjoyed connecting with Adrian on our shared interests in geology and Viking history. Adrian is very friendly and conversational, and we learned some of his full and interesting life.
Thomas is the best tour guide. He’s a fun and adventurous guide and gave us the best experience! If you’re going to Iceland you need to book it with Tom. Great VIP touring experience.
This tour was the perfect full-day family experience, with our generous local guide, Sigfus. From the geothermal power plant to gushing geysers and on to stunning waterfalls. Ancient turf churches, hidden tunnels, and modern stain glass windows. We covered so many beautiful sights. Sigfus is not only knowledgeable about Iceland’s history but is also a talented photographer. He captured some great family photos along the way! The meal at the Fridheimar Tomato Farm was amazing and it was a bonus to finish off the day with ice cream on a dairy farm, while watching the cows feeding in the barn. This tour will tick all the boxes and more!
Thomas of EV Travel took us on a full day private eco tour the next to last Saturday in June 2025. He picked us up at 9:00 at our hotel (Reykjavik Edition) and asked if we would like to visit the geothermal exhibition which was first up on the list. It is just outside of Reykjavik and we agreed that we would like to see it. (He clearly gives options of whatever you might like to do among his various itinerary items. He was very knowledgeable and explained all aspects of the geothermal plant to us. He actually gave us a lot of information about Iceland during our day with him as well.) From the geothermal plant we visited two churches that are side by side in the first capital of Iceland (whose name I can't remember). One church was clearly very old and it was covered in mud and grass for warmth. It was surprisingly clean and modern looking inside. The other was a traditional church where someone happened to be playing the organ when we stepped inside, which was a nice plus. We also visited the Kerid crater and could have hiked around or down into it but, we are in our late 70's and opted to just view it from the top. We had a delicious cheese platter and tomato soup lunch (and treated Thomas to lunch with us as well). Lunch was at a sustainable farm where they grew the tomatoes on giant vines that were planted in very compact containers inside large greenhouses. We likewise viewed the Gullfoss waterfall, but could have taken a trail to a closer view of the waterfall had we wished. Thomas does not rush to get through the day and in fact as we drove back into the city, he asked if there was anywhere we needed to stop before he dropped us back at our hotel. He is a delightful guide and really knows Iceland. He has a beautiful black EV Mercedes that is quite comfortable. At lunch we learned a bit about his many travels. He is trim and clearly is an outdoorsman. He could take anyone on a more challenging day, but this was just what the doctor ordered for my husband and me. We felt we saw what we came to see in Iceland. One other note - don't miss Flyover Iceland. It is surprisingly AMAZING and I, personally, am afraid of heights but this wasn't scarry. It was just beautiful! SO, IF YOU GO TO ICELAND, HIRE THOMAS AT EV TRAVEL FOR AT LEAST A DAY AND GO SEE FLYOVER ICELAND.
Thomas was a wonderful guide and host. Prior to the trip he was very communicative and responded quickly to any questions. On the day of the trip, Thomas was on time to pick us up, the vehicle was clean and comfortable and was stocked with water and light snacks which was appreciated. Thomas was very knowledgeable and provided helpful information about Icelandic culture, geography, history, etc. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking to cover a lot of ground and learn about Iceland.
Thomas was very communicative from the moment we booked the tour. He was personable, informative, and passionate about all of the sights we visited on our Golden Circle trip. The van was comfy and fully loaded with water, blankets, walking sticks, and special Icelandic treats! Definitely recommend booking this tour!!
Excellent Tour with a Great Guide! Had a wonderful Golden Circle tour with Kat. She's incredibly knowledgeable about Iceland and showed us both the main sights and some less touristy spots. The comfortable vehicle and provided snacks were nice touches. We had a lovely lunch stop at a tomato farm, which was a unique addition to the day. Kat’s friendly approach and expertise made the whole experience memorable. A great way to see the Golden Circle if you want something beyond the standard tourist route.
Without a doubt, EV Travel is the company you want to use for Reykjavik tours. Thomas's delivery is articulate and engaging. He adapts the tour to include your interests. The vehicle was immaculate with many amenities such as cookies, water, lap blanket, umbrellas, etc. Our 9 hour tour was a delight and we felt satisfied that we left with a plethora of good information and memories of Iceland.
The tour with Thomas was amazing! Not only was he very knowledgeable in geology and history, but he was informative about everything we saw during our 9 hour Golden Circle Tour. His van is comfortable and he had water and snacks to keep everyone comfortable. We couldn’t have been in better hands!
We thoroughly enjoyed our full day Golden Circle Tour with EV tours. Our driver was Dan, who was an efficient driver and quite congenial, but mostly got us from one place to the next without issue. It was nice that he is from the US and is now an Icelander. We started at the Geothermal Plant in a driving rain with strong winds and he did the best to get us from the comfort of our vehicle to the interior of the plant. The next stop was the Kerið crater, where the wind continued to blow and the rain (thankfully) died down somewhat. Again, Dan did a nice job of getting us there and we thoroughly enjoyed walking around. We continued our tour and were brought to the Tomato Farm and ate at the wine bar there (as opposed to the regular restaurant) as Thomas Warner, who arranged our tour, said they would be able to accommodate our dietary needs more easily. He was not mistaken! We had huge salads for our lunch and gorgeous strawberries for dessert! It was nice of him to think about what our needs were. (Also, in the car, we had fruit instead of chocolates (again due to dietary needs.)) We continued along to the Geysir Hot springs, Gullfoss Waterfall, and concluded at the National Park. It was a full day and a long day, but at no time did Dan rush us along or impose his agenda on to us. He was gracious and courteous and quite accommodating. I think the value of this tour is fantastic and the sites (and sights) themselves were mind-bogglingly beautiful and fascinating! EV tours is a wonderful company. The only reason I didn't give it all 5 stars is that Dan was more of a driver than a guide. But still, he did that job extremely well!
The tour of the Golden Circle was wonderful and full of amazing sights and fascinating information. Thomas has great expertise in geology and geothermal energy. He knew the best routes and timing for popular tourist spots and took us to several out-of-the-way places that we would never have known. We took a second tour of the volcanic eruption sites that was safe and awe-inspiring. Thomas was friendly and professional. He checked on our interests and our activity levels to customize the tours. The EV van is extremely comfortable and a great way to see Iceland.
We have been "flooded" with informations, starting from technical aspects like washing clothes in the old times with natural hot water via geological structures and tomato planting to the hart of the Icelandic parliamentary system. And not to forget the photo and cultural stops at places we would never find ourselves (or we never thought about) and all the useful information given to us. Thomas knew his way through Iceland and the culture, which was amazing since he is British...
We were traveling to Iceland on a cruise and decided to stay in Rejkjavik for a few days post cruise. We opted for the private Golden Circle day tour with Thomas and this was by far the best tour we took, even better than the cruise shore excursions. I would highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to see outside of the city. We saw many sights and had a great time with Thomas. He is very professional, knowledgeable, down to earth and fun to be with. I had some communication with him prior to arriving and he worked our group of 4 to find the right tour for us. He was at the hotel to pick us up promptly at the agreed upon time and always responded promptly to my messages. The private tour was definitely worth the money, the car was very comfortable, with water and snacks included. I would definitely use this tour company if I am ever back in the area!
Our guide Thomas provided us with an excellent Golden Circle tour. We highly recommend him to anyone wanting to do this tour. Thomas was kind, patient, and of very good humor throughout our very long day of touring. He also was very knowledgeable, so we learned a lot about the amazing sites we visited. We also learned about how the Icelandic people have adapted to this pretty harsh environment
Thomas shared his extensive knowledge of the various sites and took us to some out of the way places making this an extremely memorable experience. We highly recommend Thomas and would book another tour if we return.
So glad I booked with EV Travel! We did two consecutive day tours - the Golden Circle and the Silver Circle - and this combination provided the perfect balance of incredible scenery and historic perspective. With multiple generations in our group (ages 10 to 74), the exceptional service and flexibility provided during both tours made our first visit to Iceland so memorable. Thomas and Thomas are both terrific guides! Friendly, knowledgeable, and so very accommodating, they adjusted the pace perfectly to suit our needs. Throughout both tours, they were very mindful of our comfort and provided special touches like blankets, water and snacks. We hope to return soon to do the South Coast Adventure tour!
Thomas was a fantastic guide, he enabled us to see so many of Iceland's natural wonders in our limited time in the country. His communication from the get go was excellent, and he picked us up from the airport with no fuss. Great to hear his experiences of living in Iceland, and we would definitely recommend a tour with him (EV Travel) for anyone visiting the country. From the craters, to the geysir, the waterfalls and the national park, we enjoyed it all with expert guidance from Thomas and his super jeep.
The landscapes were breathtaking and we could take very many stunning pics! The tour was well organized and well-rounded, it allowed us to have an insight of some of the beauties of Iceland. Our driver spoke perfect English, was kind and prepared and told us many interesting pieces of information both about the country and its nature. The van was spacious and comfortable, plus there were fresh water and snacks for us to enjoy, as well as blankets to keep us warm in case it got chilly in the back of the van. When we come back to Iceland, we will definitely contact EV Travel to plan some more day trips and discover more of this wonderful country.
As a seasoned traveler, I have had many tour guides and know when I have found an exceptional one. When you tell people you are going to Iceland, everybody shares their best experiences and what one should and should not do. But our group was looking for something more customized and Thomas at EV Travel worked with us over a course of several months to design the perfect experience. He was patient and talked us through the pros and cons of each “new idea” we put to him via e-mail. Am surprised after his busy days he always had the time to offer his seasoned advice and expertise. We got back less than 24 hours ago and the trip was amazing and mixed with so much fun (even Thomas laughed) and so many “wow” moments it is hard to list them all. Thomas was determined to offer the four of us the utmost care and personalized Icelandic experience and he definitely did!!! You can’t go wrong choosing EV Travel.
Thomas was very prompt and picked us up at our hotel when expected. Not only did we get a full tour of the Golden Circle we also got a lot of history of the land and local culture as well. I cannot express enough how wonderful our tour was as well as our tour guide! If you have a short time or even an extended stay in Iceland and don't want to deal with a large bus and lots of people this is a MUST do!!! 5 stars is an understatement, it is worth every penny!
The day was wonderful. Our guide Tomaz was so knowledgeable and nice. It was a delight to spend the day with him. The itinerary was excellent. We are so glad that we booked with your company. Betsy and George Granger
