Golden Circle is the ultimate day tour route from Reykjavik. It includes three Iceland's iconic destinations: Geysir geothermal area, Gullfoss waterfall and Thingvellir national park.
A UNESCO World Heritage site, Thingvellir National Park holds great importance both as a natural wonder as well as an historical and cultural center.
Geysir is an iconic location that is a must-see for all visitors to our shores. Strokkur is the main attraction, the geyser which reliably erupts every 5-10 minutes with the water and steam reaching heights of 130ft.
Gullfoss falls, or the Golden waterfall, is one of our most powerful and stunning waterfalls. Fed by a glacial river to the north, the torrent rages over several drops before reaching the canyon bottom.
Kerið crater is the remnant of a massive volcanic eruption some 6500 years ago. At the bottom of the crater is a lake fed by groundwater. Take the steps to the water´s edge or walk along the top of the crater.

We return to Reykjavík for a few hours between the sightseeing tour of the southern coastline and pickup for your northern lights hunting tour. You have time to freshen up and grab dinner.
Our evening northern lights tours searches for the northern lights in the countryside within a 90 minute radius of Reykjavik. Our aurora guides study the Icelandic Met. offices aurora forecast as well as cloud cover charts to find clear skies and hopefully a spectacular and colorful aurora display.

We had a lovely tour guide Denis who taught us how to pronounce the names of some of the sights we visited which was fun. It was amazing to see The Wall where they filmed Game of Thrones and to walk between the tectonic plates. The trip was excellently organised.

Our guide, Jessica, was extremely knowledgeable and, most importantly, incredibly engaging. She was a fantastic storyteller, bringing every place we visited to life with her knowledge and enthusiasm. Our driver, Albert, was equally brilliant. The highlight of the Golden Circle Tour for us was undoubtedly Geysir. Absolutely incredible! We opted for the Golden Circle Tour combined with the Northern Lights Tour, and we’re so glad we did. Although it made for a very long day, it was worth every minute. Our Northern Lights guide was determined that we would see them, and he certainly didn’t disappoint! The whole experience of hunting them down, travelling between locations and waiting for that magical moment was incredibly thrilling. I can’t remember the name of our second guide (who, incidentally, was also a singer!), but his determination to keep going until we found the lights was fantastic. He simply wasn’t giving up! It’s wonderful to see people so passionate about what they do, and that commitment really made the experience even more special. A fantastic day, brilliant guides and memories we’ll never forget. Highly recommended!

The northern lights tour was basically sitting on the bus driving out into the countryside and looking up at the sky. We were able toglimpse the northern lights but only through our phones. If you hire a car, I would skip this tour and just drive outside the city after 9 PM.
Felt like 5 1/2 hours on the bus and a half hour at the actual places. The tour guide Svetlana was not a great guide. The locations were underwhelming. The pickup location required a taxi to get to. The bus driver was VERY ACCOMMODATING AND I WISH SHE WAS ALSO THE GUIDE. Half the tour got cancelled due to weather with no warning... I am satisfied with the partial refund

Covered everything I expected to cover on this trip. For the Golden Circle portion of the day, our tour guide was Alain. Awesome guide, very knowledgeable, willing to be everyone’s photographer too. I appreciated how he would encourage everyone to stick around for the first few minutes so he could give us some history about each site at the golden circle. The Northern Lights portion had a different guide. We go really lucky with the lights at our second stop. It would be helpful if the company could arrange both the day trip and evening portions of the trip before starting the day, so that customers know what to expect for the whole day. I didn’t get my evening itinerary until 10 am or so the day of the trip, so I spent my morning not knowing how my evening was going to go. Otherwise successful day.

We had Kuba as our guide for our 2nd part of the tour - northern lights chase. Kuba was entertaining and helpful in getting photos of the northern lights for us. He was knowledgeable in our chase of the northern lights and we even managed to get to see the dancing aurora from a remote area! Amazing!!! Kudos to him for making my first Iceland trip wuth my husband memorable and worthwhile;)

The Golden Circle was brilliant. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable, friendly and made the whole experience fun and interesting. If you’re a little more confident driving in Iceland, you could definitely rent a car and do the Golden Circle yourself for much less money. However, doing it this way does mean you miss out on the knowledge, stories and experience that a good tour guide brings. The Northern Lights tour was unfortunately cancelled on our first night due to the weather, but we were able to rebook for the following evening and were lucky enough to see them! For me, this is definitely something I would recommend doing with a tour guide. They knew all the right places to go and were able to chase the clear skies and find the best spots to see the lights. It made the experience much easier and more enjoyable than trying to find them yourself. Overall, a great experience and I would definitely recommend the tours.

Excellent pick up and drop off. Guide was friendly and very knowledgeable. Driver was fantastic in awful weather conditions. Stops were excellent with just enough time to explore,grab a coffee and use the facilities. Unfortunately the Northern Lights part of the package was cancelled and as yet have not been able to reschedule and I only have tomorrow left before returning to Scotland. Weather in Iceland is unpredictable so come prepared.
Heidi & Captain Thor were great and very informative! Had us entertained all day and gave us enough time at each stop to explore! Went in October so the crowds were a little quieter than expected so easier to get around! Worth the time and the money for the experience and to see the wonders of the Golden Circle! The northern lights section of the tour was cancelled due to being overcast but that can’t be helped, just bad luck, so will have to try again another time! This trip was great, would highly recommend!

Golden circle tour is absolutely must-do for first time visitor to Iceland. Our tour guide, Heidi is amazing and she did a great job of explaining interesting facts along with local insights along the way. Northern lights in the evening, however, is disappointing. It is a different tour guide and even though both are BusTravel buses but the tour experience is lacking in the evening. The weather is beyond anyone's control but the evening tour should have been cancelled but the tour operator went ahead anyway despite the bad weather. Of course, there is no nothern lights when clouds are covering the whole sky. The tour guide took us to near the airport, which I thought was strange for northern light viewing spot (out of all the possible spots). It was miserable 2 hours waiting in the dark parking lot in the cold rain when an ordinary person can easily tell there will be no northern light for the night. The tour guide (this is a different tour guide from Italy) keeps on mumbling about the scientific numbers and telling us to look at the sky through the phone lens to see any possible northern light. Well, one can squint all they want but there aint any northern light! It should have been cancelled due to the weather. I would have gotten Golden Circle tour only if I knew if this is going to be like this.
Simply an amazing trip. The guide was pretty resourceful with his good knowledge on areas to explore to get a good view. The tour provided hot chocolate which was really amazing since it was cold! We were lucky it was a clear sky and wer able to view the auroras. The dark night with the aurora lit skies were mystifying!

Our guide Saga was outstanding! She shared a ton of knowledge and was great with accommodating so many people from all over the world. Dean was a fantastic driver who navigated difficult weather with the utmost safety and confidence. Great tour!!! Only negative is cancelling the northern lights because of visibility challenges

The Golden Circle Tour was really fun and beautiful. The bus was comfortable, especially on the tour day, which was cold and rainy. Sven, the tour guide, had amazing stories and shared great facts about Iceland. Later that day was the Northern Lights tour, and we didn't see the Northern Lights because it was too cloudy, but the guide was hilarious as we drove around to find a clear spot. Unfortunately, we did not get to reschedule during our time in Iceland because the tour did not happen on the other nights we were there.
