Excellent tour and guide. The scenery was amazing. The waterfalls were outstanding and the Kerid Crater at the end of the tour made this excursion extra special.

Itinerary
This is the oldest working parliament in the world. There you will walk on old battlegrounds where the Vikings fought among each other in countless battles. Þingvellir is also a place where 2 continents meet. Imagine yourself strolling through a canyon which walls are made from 2 tectonic plates: European and American. A truly remarkable experience!
Discover Bruarfoss, often called “Iceland’s Bluest Waterfall.” Its serene turquoise waters tumble over dark lava rocks, framed by vibrant moss, creating a truly magical scene. This hidden gem is a photographer’s paradise and a peaceful retreat into Iceland’s untouched wilderness.
At Geysir, you will witness an eruption of hot water going almost 20 or so meters up into the air. The whole area is a geological wonder covered in steam coming from the geothermal activity - an experience you will never forget!
When visiting the Gullfoss waterfall you will be stunned by the scale of this famous waterfall. Many cascades of fast pacing water dropping down to a canyon while producing amazing rainbows (with the right weather) is just a jaw-dropping experience! This is also a great place for lunch and for shopping. We can recommend the traditional Icelandic soup (there is always an option without meat): it will keep you full and warm for the rest of the day.
Kerið is a volcanic crater lake. You can have a walk around the ridges or even go down and touch the gleaming surface of the water.

It was an nice experience and we had fun visiting the amazing scenaries of Iceland but the only thing that could be improved was the time allowed at each location, We only wish it could have been longer to get more value of each place to see more.
Guide was excellent. Great information about the sites visited. Planned our trip for maximum efficiency.
Great experience seeing the "biggies" that Iceland has to offer. Small group also offers flexibility that the big bus tours can't.
Vidir, our tour guide and driver was excellent. He explained the stops and what you could do before getting to the location. The circle has a lot of driving before getting to the venues, but Vidir balanced the time with interesting facts and local stories. However it was not an incessant talking just to fill dead air. His knowledge of the sites and area was exceptional. Pickup is a little awkward, but vidir came at the appointed time and read off names clearly. We had 16 people on our bus. A good number to do this tour with.
A very enjoyable day. We had undertaken the golden circle before, but in December so it was a treat to see the sights in the summer. That said this tour visited two destinations not included in the standard golden circle tours. Those being the Kerid Crater which was quite spectacular to walk around the rim and the Bruarfoss waterfall was very good to see as well. Gullfoss was outstanding, although in the height of winter it's also fascinating when frozen. Thoroughly recommend this tour and the transport was comfortable.
There is so much to see on this tour! Great for someone with a short time to see everything. Waterfalls
Great small group excursion to see the beauty of Iceland and some hidden gems. Guide was very professional and informative. Great company.
We had a great tour with Oly as our driver/tour guide. He was waiting at our scheduled stop prior to the arranged time and we left promptly. He expertly guided us to all the landmarks on our trip and provided interesting information and facts along the way. The bus was comfortable and everything went as expected. This was an excellent introduction to our first “group tour” experience and a great way to see more of Iceland.
Wonderful experience, fantastic tour guide, a must do when you visit Iceland! The scenic views are priceless, and the geology behind their formations is just as fascinating.
This tour was amazing. Only 14 people in our van. Cora was an excellent guide. She explained the significance of each of the locations we were going to. The Golden circle tour was amazing.
We booked this tour with Back to Iceland specifically because the listed itinerary had two great-sounding stops that some other tours didn't have: a visit to Bru Horse Farm and Fridheimar Tomato Farm. Our receipt for the tour specifically mentioned access to these two sites was included in the cost of the tour. These two sites were also mentioned on TripAdvisor's itinerary at the time of our booking. However, our tour visited neither, and we wound up very disappointed. We visited all the standard stops: Thingvellir, Gullfoss, a geysir, and Kerid Crater. And they are indeed beautiful places worth seeing. But almost every big bus tour makes the same stops for cheaper. After our final stop at the crater, we thought the tour we'd stop to see the horses and tomato farm. Instead, we went straight back to Reykjavik. We asked our tour guide why this we skipped the horse farm and tomato farm, and he was confused, since those stops were never on his itinerary. Skipping the stops was not his fault, but that of Back To Iceland. Especially since the tour we went on was run not by Back To Iceland, but Troll.is: a different company. The tour guide seemed genuinely confused when we mentioned that we booked with Back To Iceland. This raises the question of whether Back To Iceland are operating their own tours or simply acting as a re-booking agent sometimes. To their credit, Back To Iceland responded promptly when we contacted them about omitting the horse and tomato farm, and they promptly offered and delivered on a partial refund, . But the refund doesn't negate the fact that we missed out on two sites we were really looking forward to visiting. And their excuse that they were "currently updating and changing the stops on our winter itinerary" wasn't a particularly good one. A lot of tours can take you on a tour of the basic sites. If I knew in advance that we wouldn't be visiting Bru and Fridheimar, I would have booked with someone else. I suggest you do the same.
A brill collection of Icelandic sites. A bit of a tourist trail with plenty of other busses and tourists.
Back to Iceland is a fantastic tour company. When our itinerary was changed by the cruise line, I contacted Vida in the office and she suggested a new expanded itinerary for us which worked perfectly. She was quick to respond and was very accommodating. Anton was our driver and guide. We had a lovely, modern, clean, huge vehicle allowing our party of 4 to spread out comfortably. It was equipped with WIFI and USB ports for charging. Anton picked us up early and kept us ahead of the crowds to ensure we saw all the highlights of the area. He is an excellent driver and we felt quite safe. He accommodated all our requests with his patient demeanor. Anton had an accent but we were able to understand him without any problem. He was very informative and provided information when it was appropriate.
Wonderful trip with gorgeous views and a lovely guide who filled us up with interesting historical and geological information. Each stop seemed to provide ample time to really explore each place.
Time for everything on our 9 hr adventure. Just the waterfall itself made it worth it. Our guide Mona kept us on track @ was very gracious sharing her knowledge.
This is a wonderful tour to see highlights of Reykjavik outside of the city. Our guide made a couple of extra stops to get close to Icelandic horses and a farm that makes awesome ice cream. We made it back to port on time with a few minutes to spare.
The Golden Circle is a wonderful day trip from Reykjavik - with more places to visit than time will permit. And the weather will almost certainly not cooperate for the entire day - but being on a small coach with a knowledgeable local guide made for a great tour.
The meeting with Anton was very interesting. We were lucky enough to be the only ones in the comfortable vehicle. At 8 we left the port and returned around 16:30. The places visited were wonderful and Anton explained everything in detail. We left the usual tours, we started the day at a mural where we were explained the geography of Iceland and the tectonic plate. Later we saw the volcano, then the greenhouse with tomatoes. So the classic golcen circle, waterfall of godafoss where we stayed for an hour with possibility to have lunch there but we had a packed lunch. Subsequently gyser about 40 minutes. Then ice cream view animals and finally the park where we stayed for 1h and a half about. Tour absolutely recommended! Friendly and helpful staff for any need
A great tour with an amazing guide. Anton was amazing, very informative, knowledgeable and whity. Got to see everything we wanted, learnt a huge amount of history and information. He went above and beyond; we were given ponchos and the use of crampons which were very much needed Would highly recommend this tour with this guide
We had an excellent tour with Antanas! We had plenty of time to enjoy each stop, never felt rushed, even with the shorter daylight. Wonderful sights, he shared lots of stories and information along the way, and clearly loves showing off this beautiful country. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Our guide was funny, informative and took us to the best spots. We had ample time at every stop. We only had two in our party so it was basically a private tour. Anthony even offered to drive us to our next destination so we didn’t have to arrange a transfer. Stand up guy who has jokes and knowledge about his country. 10 out of 10!!
Anthony/Antonas was our Driver for our golden circle tour. He was exceptional! The tour was informative, fun and we got to see everything we wanted from the Kerid Crater, Gullfoss falls, Tomato Soup, Geysir, ice cream and the National Park. Along the way we got to see islandic horses, enjoy a bakery stop with coffee and learn so many things about this wonderful country. Anthony provided us with background and helpful tips to enjoy for every stop. I would recommend him highly. He made our day! Truly Amazing!!!! Thank you! Don’t think twice, book this tour!
As first time travellers to Iceland we did our research and decided to book our tours with back to Iceland. I would highly recommend. We were fortunate to have the same guide Antony on both occasions. He was fantastic. His local knowledge and humour was amazing. I would suggest you choose the tours with smaller numbers. At various locations we met coach load of tourists and ours appeared more of a smooth tour. The golden circle tour was amazing, the waterfall in winter was stunning! Crampon use is a must and are provided by your guide. People have questioned whether the blue lagoon is a tourist trap (of course) but one you must do. Thank you BTI and especially Anton
I loved the trip everything about it was superb, the snow, the lights, the timing but most importantly was our wonderful and knowledgeable guide Matthew, and also his friend Loucash I guess, Matthew's facts and knowledge on the local area, history, cuisine and more was quite the experience his perfect clear speak and enthusiasm helped us to be inclusive to everyone from all walks of life. Matthew was kind, helpful, patient, inquisitive and generally thought that his job was the best in the world, and all though I a mere mortal am not sure if this is true I can tell you as a fact that Matthew is the best tour guide in the whole wide world. His relationship with the driver was quite prominent throughout the whole trip he wanted us to have the most enjoyable experience possible, There was no dull moment with those two everyone was like a movie, (the best movie ever.) The best part for me was the bit at the end where thanks to Matthew's planning skills we got to feed some Icelandic "horses". I would most definitely go again just for those two alone!
My fiancé and I had a private golden circle tour. Our tour guide Antan was wonderful. As he was driving us he was giving us facts about the places we were passing and more information about the places we were visiting. He made sure we were comfortable the whole time and made the experience amazing.
Anton was a wonderful guide and we loved his stories and dad jokes. We had an amazing time and definitely this tour made us want to come back to Iceland to do and see more. The stops for food were perfect too!
We enjoyed the tour and places visited, but above the wonders of Iceland, our driver and tour guide, ANTON, made the difference with his cheerful personality and great customer service. He also helped us to arranged last minute transportation with the company by calling the manager, because we wanted to visit a hot spring after our Blue Lagoon booking was canceled and other places were fully booked due to volcano eruption. Our trip to Iceland was then complete 🙌 thanks again, Anton.
Our driver Anton was extremely punctual and very informative. He provided us with crampons for our safety and was so polite and helpful throughout the day. He made the whole experience amazing and the communication and instructions from the company was excellent. I would definitely recommend the company for your Iceland tours. Top driver - Top company.
We had a great experience. The tour guide was knowledgeable and friendly. The minibus was clean and comfortable. We got safely and comfortably to all the tour's locations and had a good amount of time in each spot. Every stop was so beautiful! Even just looking out the window while driving was enough for incredible views. We really enjoyed the tour and felt like we got to see a lot of beautiful nature that we couldn't otherwise have accessed (since we were not in a position to rent a car). If we come back we will definitely book a tour with Back To Iceland again!
The waterfall stops were breathtaking. Tomas gave us a great individual tour as other people canceled when their ship couldn't make port. He added one or two stops...fairly long day but Tomas kept it well paced.
We just got back from our second trip to Iceland this fall which actually inspired me to write a review for our experience last year with BTI on our Golden Circle tour. We used a different company to take a Golden Circle tour this year and it was not nearly as good! You get to see the most variety on this tour of any Golden Circle tour I've seen, many only include Geysir, Thingvellir and Gullfoss but the Kerid Crater was one of our favorite parts! It feels like there's endless options for Golden Circle tours, but can say with great confidence you will love this route with Back to Iceland!
There are many agencies that offer this tour - we decided on BTI based on Trip Advisor’s reviews - and we could have not been happier! Anton is truly an amazing guide, knowledgable, personable and so accommodating! Excellent and lively commentaries. Got to learn so much about Iceland! Definitely ready to get Back to Iceland again!
This was an absolute pleasure to take this 8 hour day tour! We saw so many different areas of Iceland - tectonic plates in a small shopping area, craters, waterfalls, Icelandic horses (don’t call them ponies!) tomato hothouse, fresh dairy ice cream, and walked between the tectonic plates! The whole day was wonderful !
Anton did a great job of showing us the sites and giving us interesting and humorous stories surrounding the places we visited and bout Iceland in general. He did a great job of driving the very comfortable mini-bus and keeping us informed on our destination and the scenery we passed.
Having booked this small group minibus tour ahead of our cruise, we were surprised to find out a couple of days before arrival that we were the only people booked on that particular trip. When we arrived we spotted Anton (our driver / guide) with my name on a piece of paper and he confirmed it was just us and we would be in a car with him. How cool. The real joy of having this private tour was that at every stop we could spend as much time as we wanted - Antanas (Anton) just told us to come back to the car when we were ready to leave each location. The tour itself was really cool...starting off with a drive through old lava fields and a short stop at a shopping area at Hveragerði where the American and European tectonic plates meet. We took photos where I was in Europe and my wife was in America! We next drove to the Kerið Volcanic Crater where we had some time to explore and take photos. Up next was a visit to the Friðheimar Green House, where we sampled some fresh tomato soup and freshly baked bread. They even had tomato beer and tomato ice cream but we skipped that! Next up was the immense Gullfoss Waterfall (which we visited before Geysir as the hot spring area looked very busy). After the waterfall we headed back to Geysir to see the hot water eruptions (roughly one every 4 minutes but some bursts were more powerful than others). Next was a stop at the popular Esftidalur II Farm where we saw ice cream being made (and sampled some) and we saw some Icelandic Horses and petted one. Our final stop was the Þingvellir National Park although we asked Anton to swing past the massive cathedral in Reyljavik centre before dropping us back to the cruise port. We were amazed when Anton stopped on a roundabout near the cathedral to rescue a stranded cat, moving the kitty to the pavement and then getting back in the car and carrying on the trip! It was an amazing day, with a superb guide and the flexibility to take the whole day at our own pace. Huge thanks to Anton and to Back to Iceland Travel for going ahead with our tour despite it being just the two of us. Such a special memory.
This tour was amazing! The minibus was very comfortable and provided power to mobile devices as well as WIFI (extremely helpful when you forget to bring an adapter for your devices like I did). Our tour guide had extensive knowledge of Iceland and shared both facts and stories that made for a fun and educational day. We stopped at 7 stops where we had adequate time to explore and just take in all the sights. The food we were able to purchase on our journey was excellent. Highly recommend the Cinnamon Bun at the first stop (don't eat breakfast before you go) and the Lamb Soup at the Bistro in Gullfoss was outstanding (really recommend you try the local foods). When we get back to Iceland, we will be booking with Back to Iceland again and will definitely recommend to friends!
Excellent service. great content. Very friendly service - willing to go the extra to make the day very worthwhile. Great way to start a holiday.
Kerid Crater, Gullfoss Waterfall, Stokkur Geysir, and Thingvellir National Park were all interesting and enjoyable to visit. The tomato greenhouse was rather dull.
Pick up was bad. Victors description of the meeting spot was incorrect according to the tour company. Led to a 1.5 hour delay. Poor administration.
Our driver/guide was the highlight of the trip. Extremely knowledgeable and easy to listen to. He paced the day very well and added a tour through the city which we had been unable to do the day before due to embarkation issues. Highly recommend!
This tour was the highlight of our iceland trip. This was the second tour we booked with Back to Iceland and, as it turned out, there were a few cancelations so we got our very own private Golden Circle tour. Our guide, Anton, was fantastic and gave us as much time as we wanted at every attraction we visited. He remebered what he had told us the previous day and avoided repeating information, and provided intesting information without being overwhelming. He also, on account of the tour group being just us added some other interesting stops including pointing out where Önnuhver (the garbage hot spring) was, as well as letting us pick where and when we wanted to grab lunch. This particular tour stopped at several places that some of the others did not which is why we chose it. As mentioned in my previous review, the minibus was good, with USB for charging and fairly reliable wifi. Would book with them again!
Anton was a great driver and narrator of our tour through the Golden Circle. He was very informative of the sights and gave us ample time to see everything.
Antoine was an excellent guide. Very knowledgeable. Gave us plenty of time at each site so we don’t feel rush at all. Also stop at places we can get snacks in between (greenhouses that grows tomato and dairy farm). Enjoyed the trip immensely!
Top notch service. Friendly on time reliable and flexible. Caring on customers and you can trust them. They are experienced operator and knowledgeable. We also used their airport transfer service. Driver arrived earlier waiting for us. Good value and highly recommended.
The mini bus driver/ guide was very informative and friendly. He also stayed on the schedule very accurately.
Amazing experience! We saw a lot in just a short time. Anton did an amazing job guiding us to all the places we wanted to see. Really great personalized experience!
Another great tour with Back to Iceland Travel! This was our 2nd tour with Anton and it was just as great. Breathtaking scenery, paired with some interesting stops at a tomato farm and dairy farm for icecream (yes, you even need icecream in Iceland!). We loved Anton's sense of humour and his knowledge of interesting facts. The golden circle is a must-see in Iceland. We definitely caught the Iceland Virus and we'll be back - and we would definitely use the services of Back to Iceland Travel again!
There was a waterfall on the later part of the tour that seemed to form its own sort of aqueduct between two rock walls before falling down a second waterfall. It was a good walk and a beautiful spot.
Kudos to the company! The day before our tour we were contacted to let us know we would be the only ones on the tour so our driver would be picking us up in a CRV instead of the usual van. I am so happy that we were still able to take this tour; many other operators may have cancelled due to a low amount of participants. Anton, our guide was a very professional gentleman. It was nice to feel like we had our own private tour. He made our tour experience a very positive one. We did not feel rushed at all and were able to see everything at our own pace. He told us a lot of information about the country and what it was like to live in Iceland.
