Then turn back west along the coastal road at the foot of Eyjafjallajokull volcano and make a stop at Seljalandsfoss waterfall. This beautiful column of water tumbles off the cliffs and you have the possibility of walking around behind the falls and through the spray, so be sure to bring your waterproofs, as you might get wet. This is saved this stop for last, as getting wet at the end of the day is much better than starting the day wet.
The first stop is the powerful Skogafoss waterfall with its 60 metre (200ft) drop and formidable spray. On sunny days, the waterfall often has a rainbow to add to the view
Wonderful glacier and ocean view over the powerful Sólheimajökull glacier.
After exploring the edge of the ice, we walk back to the bus and drive a little farther east to Reynisfjara black sand beach which is near to the village of Vik and Dyrholaey headland. Make a stop of around 1 hour at Reynisfjara which boasts a spectacular black sand beach, basalt columns and cliffs, sea stacks and in summer between May and August there are often puffins roosting and nesting on the grassy ledges along the cliffs. The beach also has a nice café where you will also be able to get some lunch.

Johan was funny, friendly and informative. A full day, several major destinations were covered in a short period of time of this beautiful country.
Beautiful tour, Martin our guide was very entertaining and provided a lot of interesting facts and took good care of us. All the stops on the tour were magnificent! Highly recommend it! There was plenty of time given to discover the sights. For Glacier and black beach we had heavy winds which made it a bit of a challenge, but a part from the nature giving us a bit of hard time it was an awesome tour.
WHAT a great day! It was a long one, but totally worth it — there’s lots of driving to get places but you get to see so much of Iceland’s landscapes along the south coast and it’s totally worth seeing. Al was our driver guide and he was fantastic; loads of interesting info about Iceland, its landscape & history — he’s a credit to EastWest! Loved every minute
Great way to see Iceland. Our guide Thor was extremely knowledgeable and nice. Really enjoyed the day.
It was amazing. I still look back on our photos from the day and marvel at the experience. Definitely recommend. 10/10
We were picked up in a minibus by a guide named Sulton who comes from India. He did not know the history of Iceland or the culture. The charge for each one of us was twice the price advertised here. He did not have a planned day for us and we never stopped for lunch(as advertised). Iceland Horizon tours or Saga Iceland tours were very disappointing.
Tony was amazing. He made the day fun and interesting. We had a day we will never forget. I highly recommend this trip!
Yesterday-June 10th, we took this tour with Monica. It was one of the most interesting, fact filled + scenic days ever! Monica is high energy, good vibes, super informative and even plays Icelandic music enroute! We got the most INCREDIBLE photos + video of a glacier, waterfalls + locations where Game of Thrones was filmed. I would give this your 6 stars if I could!
Our guide Almar made this incredibly scenic tour a warm, fun and engaging day. The list of stops listed here may seem unimpressive but it is in reality more than generous – many smaller stops and photo occasions encountered along the way aren’t accounted for and the landscapes driven through are breathtaking even on a cloudy and/or rainy day. Perhaps even moreso!
The guide continue to providing interesting information(geography, history, sociology etc) and nice music and also so friendly(helping taking pictures) The places I visited was totally nice.
The whole tour is amazing. Beautiful waterfalls and other stops on this tour. Excellent and knowledgeable guide
Such a good day! Our tour guide (I think his name was Hillar) was wonderful! He was engaging with great stories and anecdotes. Even though it was a bit cold and murky the bus was warm and comfortable and the sights were so beautiful!
Trip was great, explored all of the main areas of the south coast, even if the weather against us. Tour guide was very chatty and friendly. Made the trip very enjoyable. Plenty of stops for food, drinks and toilets. Would recommend people to go on this. However our minibus did not have Wi-Fi or chargers so be prepared in case.
First, what an amazing place Iceland is. And Reykjavik, which seems to get no love from most commenters, was surprisingly quaint and fun (at least in the harbor area where we stayed). More to the point, my two adult daughters and I went on this tour with pretty high expectations, and still managed to be absolutely blown away by the scenery and our tour guide, Devin. As for the scenery, the best way to explain it is that we found ourselves on multiple occasions looking at vistas that seemed almost digitally-created or enhanced. Like living a Game of Thrones episode, uniformly harsh but beautiful. Waterfalls, glaciers, gorgeous beaches with huge waves, stunning rock formations. And tour guide Devin masterfully orchestrated this long day with pacing that was perfect (meaning length of stops, breaks, etc). He's an Arizonan that recently emigrated to Iceland, and has clearly fallen in love with the place. We appreciated his objective, outsider's view on all things Iceland, and his grasp of the history, the terrain, the general science, the culture, was incredibly comprehensive. Just a good, friendly, comfortable guy to spend a day with. We went on other tours while there, with guides that were effectively bus-drivers. We will do Iceland again, and we will do everything in our power to get Devin and EastWest Tours (I think I have that right), when we do so. Thanks Devin.
Great experience with a fantastic guide. I would do this again. Xxxx. Wish this tour vent further south.
Petra was our guide, she told so many stories and was very communicative! She always had our safety in mind. Would do this tour again!
Great experience. Good value for full day trip. Walk as much or as little as you want. Careful with on and off the bus. Great guide who led us to icebergs, behind waterfalls, and allowed time to explore and take a million pictures. Really a great time.
The seats on the bus were a bit tight ( I'm 5'2 and have an athletic frame and I thought it was tight, my hubby who is 6 feet tall was cramped), but luckily there were a few open seats so we got to spread out a bit. That would be my only complaint. The rest of the day was amazing. Halle was our guide and he was incredibly knowledgeable and friendly. He also adjusted our tour itinerary to minimize being in crowded spots (summer weekend), which was much appreciated. We still saw everything plus a few additional quick stops and avoided long lunch lines and crowds at the waterfalls. My favorite stop was one of the last optional ones were we had to get our feet wet to go explore a waterfall in a cave. only a few of the more adventurous tour goers joined us and Halle was so excited that some of us risked wet feet to see the hidden waterfall. He was right, it was WORTH IT! Iceland's weather also cooperated and gave us a spectacular day, which was kind of mother nature. It was cultural night in Reykjavik and most of the streets downtown were blocked off for concerts and events. We had another tour right after this one and Halle went out of his way to drop us off in a different location close to where we needed to be instead of the designated stop. THis was really above and beyond after driving us around for 11 hours and we truly appreciated this additional gesture during an atypical night.
The water falls and black beach were awesome and got a chance to see the puffins. Nicely pace trip. Glacier was tremendous but sadly to say our planet is getting old and human progress has a big factor too. Are we ready to go back to the 60s and limit the …..?
Spectacular nature and a knowledgeable Guide who shared information about history, geology, fauna and biology of Iceland. A great day in a wonderful scenic landscape
We did two day tours with this company the Golden Circle and the South Coast. Both were perfect for us. The guides were accommodating and ever so friendly. We appreciated the time they took to accompany us to each of the spots we visited. We saw waterfalls, geysers, learned about the aftermath of volcanic eruptions, and visited sheep and horses. What beautiful creatures they are. The itinerary for the tours was well thought out and allowed us sufficient time to visit each site. Thank you for two beautiful days that we will never forget.
The first waterfall (name?), the black sand beach, and the town of Vik were our highlights! Petra was a great host.
Awesome day! The storms blew on and off all day, but we were still able to do everything! Our guide Toti was terrific. The beauty is overwhelming!
Brilliant tour, really packed full of amazing sights. The drive to the first stop was quite long but the guide was so engaging and interesting, telling us all sorts of stories that the drive was made really fun. Brilliant guide who really made the experience
This tour was amazing. Outside of the beauties you'll get to see - Anna, our tour guide and driver was great! The smaller group size was also a plus as our other tour was on a large bus and felt totally impersonal (especially when we had to wait 30min for two guests who were late to return) I would highly recommend!
Hawk was our tour guide. He shared interesting stories about the places we visited, all along the way and have each one of us individual attention. Small group, fantastic tour guide and a lifetime experience.
Fenar was awesome. He is such an interesting guy and was very informative. Even played music from Icelandic bands. The sights were amazing. The black beach was beautiful and a wonderful place to stop for lunch. The waterfalls were amazing as well as the glacier. I highly recommend this tour and this tour company.
We had a very funny guide (called Wallie by the Americans :))). He told us lots of interesting things about Iceland through the trip, showed us some special (unplanned) spots as well. We recommend it with kids as well!
Booked this trip with viator.com because it had a trip to a glacier where as other websites didn't It was worth it & we were blessed with a winter wonderland too & dramatic skies too Black beach is so surreal the waterfalls are huge with snacks available to buy if peckish. I spent my time on locations but did buy a delicious hotdog at one waterfall yum Definitely recommend this tour if in iceland
We went 2 days ago and the weather was great so luckily we were able to get good pictures. Our tour guide, Berglind was fantastic! So knowledgeable and energetic. Definitely one of the best tours we went on in Iceland!
Just 5 of us were on this trip me, my wife, my sister and nice couple from Germany and I can honestly say we all really enjoyed it. Siggy our guide was so helpful even stopping so that my sister could get some Icelandic horse pics. Fortunately the weather was great on the day and we had just the right amount of time on each stop. We were even able fit in walking up to the Glacier which I don't think was on the itenery and along with the black beach were the highlights of the tour. All in all a great day with an extremely knowledgeable guide who also made us laugh. Could not have been better!
Was picked up earlier than expected so received a call asking where I was at 8:50, luckily we were ready and near the pick up point. The trip was wonderful and we saw lots of amazing sights, and were given independence to do as we wanted. Thor was fantastic and couldn’t have been more accommodating.
Wonderful day Lovely sceanery our guide Simon was very good nice and friendly . Very knowledgeable would highly recommend
These yours just showoff how great the natural landscape of Iceland is. It's a wonder of their countries great beauty. The waterfalls are amazing and the glacier is a sight to behold. Would recommend for anyone.
There were just 13 of us and we were all made to feel very welcome by Siggi our driver. The whole trip was amazing, the sights were stunning and Siggi was both informative and knowledgeable as well as providing very humorous commentary along the way. I personally preferred this to the Golden Circle tour we had done the day before with our holiday tour operator (it was included in our package holiday). Booking with Horizon was also cheaper than booking the same excursion with the large holiday operators (Tui in our case). The fact you are on a small bus makes the whole experience more personal, Would highly recommend this tour to anyone.
My best day and memory from Iceland! Beautiful sites and fantastic guide/driver of the minibus. Native Englishman living on Iceland, so excellent language and knowledge. Highlight was the black beach with all the puffins.
Our driver and guide, Ziggy, has a lot of energy and is passionate about his home. He is also a great driver, avoiding a close call when another tour driver took an unexpected turn in front of our bus! His humor was evident throughout the day, especially when we took a slight detour to the side of the road to see a very interesting phenomenon, Mother of Pearl Clouds! Black sand beach, waterfalls, glacier, and frozen tundra - beautiful landscape and fun day.
So glad we booked the small group tour rather than a 90 seater bus. BK, our driver, was knowledgeable, informative and possesed a very dry sense of humour. e.g "on our left side you can see a whole lot of........nothing" The tour is a long day (8.30am pick up, arrived back into Reykjavik 6.45pm) but so worth it. Every element was dramatic from the black sand beach to the glacier walk and the Skogafoss waterfall. The final waterfall, Seljalandfoss, although impressive felt a little unnecessary as by then, 4.30pm, we had virtually no light and we personally were starting to tire. An absolute must see tour an we highly recommend Horizon Iceland
I booked through Viator and they stated that the pickup would be in my hostel. The day of the tour I received an email (I had not roaming in my cellphone in Iceland) at 8:25 am saying that I needed to go to a 7 minutes walk bus station for the pickup at 8:30 am ! ! ! !... I replied that I was waiting in the hostel because it was stated that way and I needed to walk to that bus station. Lucky for me they came back around 8:45 am to pick me up. After that little complain, I have to say that the tour was wonderful and it worth every single euro I paid for. Our guide (Gunna) was very helpful and provide us with a lot of information. I took the tour in december, lucky for us the weather was nice and the five hours of day light were enough to enjoy all the sights in th south shore.
In spite of terrible wind and rain BK made this trip memorable! Thank you for the great experience and beautiful day on the South Shore!
Long day, but saw a lot. 2 waterfalls, a glacier and the black sand beach. Our tour guide John Paul was very knowledgeable. Great day and well worth the money.
We had an amazing experience with this company exploring the breathtaking scenery of the south shore of Iceland. The guys was very knowledgeable, lovely and welcoming. Although we had limited bracket of time due to and the amount of sunlight Iceland get at this time of year, we managed to see everything and didn't feel like we were being rushed. If you want a comfortable mini bus with a small group of people, a lovely tour guide and want to see some spectacular places, book this tour, you will not be disappointed!
Very interesting and beautiful coach tour with a great guide. Black beach really different experience
Amazing trip, smooth and easy pick up, a very small group of us, only eight people and the most stunning views taking us to some of the best views in Iceland Our driver was extremely knowledgeable, funny and a such a nice guy....the trip could't have been better.
Such a fantastic tour, we really felt like we learned a lot about each of the locations we visited and really enjoyed the stories as well as the information told to us by our brilliant tour guide Tinna. Me and my mother both really enjoyed our day and would recommend it to anybody!
Our tour guide (Siggi) was the best! He made the experience amazing! The waterfalls are breath taking and the black sand beaches were just beautiful.
So very glad we took the small group tour of south shore. We were in a minibus with 8 other people, just the perfect number. Our driver, Jan, was very knowledgeable about the history and sights of Iceland. We enjoyed our tour immensely.
This day trip was perfect. We spent the day with Wally visiting several sites across the south coast including waterfalls, the black sand beach and a glacier. This is a second to none experience. Wally had a great attitude, incredible knowledge about all the sites and was so accommodating. He made a brilliant experience all the better.
This was our first tour we went on in Iceland and it didn’t disappoint. We were picked up at the stop on time and the bus was comfortable and warm. Our tour guide Wally was excellent, he was really friendly and told us a lot about iceland and the sights while we were driving, it’s a long drive and his banter kept the atmosphere pleasant. He also took us a tiny little detour to see a beautiful waterfall so it felt like we got something extra that day. We were lucky that whenever the bus stopped for us to go sight seeing the weather would clear up meaning it was great for pictures and walking around. I recommend seeing the south coast if you are in Iceland, the contrasting landscapes you’ll see in one day is incredible and if you get Wally as your tour guide you’ll have won a watch.
