Sergio was awesome! We had incredible lighting and I got some of my best pics for the entire week this day at the beach at the end. The road is a little bouncy so if you get car sick you may want to seat yourself in the front of the vehicle. Loved it being small group, we got along well. Such a beautiful area that everyone doesn't get to. Sergio gave us some tips on where to get a great picture of Kirkjufell. Highly recommend.

Itinerary
Join us for a day trip to the stunning Snæfellsnes Peninsula, where you’ll experience Iceland’s diverse landscapes in one unforgettable tour. From glaciers and lava fields to black sand beaches and waterfalls, this small group adventure covers it all. With convenient morning pick-up and evening drop-off, it's the perfect way to explore the best of Iceland in a single day.
On our way to Snæfellsnes, we'll pass through the charming town of Borgarnes, nestled on a scenic fjord and rich in Viking history. Known for its ties to Egill’s Saga and the poet-warrior Egill Skallagrímsson, it offers beautiful views and a unique cultural backdrop. We'll make a quick coffee stop here before continuing our adventure on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula.
Discover the charm of Ytri Tunga Beach, a golden-sand gem on the south coast of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, known for its friendly seal colony and scenic views. This peaceful stretch offers a unique contrast to Iceland’s black sand beaches and is a favorite for wildlife lovers.
Búðakirkja is a striking black wooden church on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, originally built in 1703 and set against the dramatic backdrop of lava fields and the Snæfellsjökull glacier. Its pitch-black exterior stands in bold contrast to the surrounding volcanic landscape, making it one of Iceland’s most photogenic and atmospheric landmarks. This historic church offers a peaceful stop and a glimpse into the country’s cultural and natural heritage.
Arnarstapi is a charming coastal village on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, known for its dramatic cliffs, basalt columns, and rich Viking history. Once a vital trading post, it now draws visitors with stunning views, seabird colonies, and its peaceful black sand beach. Just two hours from Reykjavík, it's a perfect stop for nature lovers and history buffs alike.
A site at which an English trawler stranded in 1948, the beach is named after Djúpalón, a lagoon at the bottom of the beach. The site offers an expansive beach, remains of the trawler, viewing platforms and is close to the Snæfellsjökull glacier. Djúpalónssandur is a sandy beach which contains aong other things four lifting stones, but stone lifting has for centuries been a popular sport and pastime in Iceland. The weight sailors could lift determined their share of the catch of the day and you can test your own might with the famous stones of the beach. Their weight ranges from 23 kg / 51 lbs. to 154 kg / 340 lbs. Its time to channel the Viking within you! NOTE: restrooms are free but not services during the winter season.
Snæfellsjökull volcano, located at the western tip of the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, is one of Iceland’s most iconic natural landmarks. Rising about 1,450 meters and capped with a glacier, it last erupted roughly 1,800 years ago. Made famous by Jules Verne’s Journey to the Centre of the Earth, this mystical peak blends geological wonder with literary legend.
A short scenic drive brings us to Ingjaldshólskirkja, Iceland’s oldest concrete church, built in 1903. This peaceful location offers stunning views of the surrounding coastline, and fun fact—it’s even used as an eye test image in China!
After we’ve explored the beautiful locations, we’ll begin the journey back to Reykjavík where we’ll drop you off at your chosen spot from our drop off list.
Djúpalónssandur is a striking black pebble beach on the Snæfellsnes Peninsula, known for its dramatic rock formations, rich folklore, and the remnants of a shipwreck. Once a thriving fishing hub, it now draws visitors with its mysterious atmosphere, sea-worn lifting stones used by fishermen to test their strength, and the haunting remains of the Epine trawler wrecked in 1948. Descend through lava rock formations to reach the ocean and soak in the wild, rugged beauty of this historic coastal site. We will stop where you can take photos of the mountain with a waterfall in the foreground.

Long day but worth all the minutes. Tour guide great and driver was spectacular with all the weather variations.
Our guide Bruno was a lot of fun. He rearranged the route s little so had a better chance to.see a seal, and avoid some crowds. We had sufficient bathroom breaks, but you better bring your own lunch. Not much time to stop to eat The coach was is good mechanical.shape, but seats showed signs of heavy wear. They need to be replaced.
We absolutely loved our full day tour of this unique peninsula and its many natural landscapes and historic churches. Bruno our guide was really knowledgeable and ensured we had stops for refreshments and bathrooms. Enjoyed the hiking to break up the driving… Iceland is truly unique and the weather just adds to your whole experience As a footnote my husband left his phone on the bus and the team at Arctic and Bruno saved the day with speed so big thanks to all for saving the day
Excellent tour. So much to see and beautiful landscape. Erla was a fantastic guide. A tour worthy of your time.
A great trip to Snaefellsness peninsula. A very long day but well worth it. Siggy was a very good guide.
My daughter and I had bad experiences. Bumpy seats. The car is a 21-seat old Mercedes Benz mini van with full passengers. My daughter and I got the last row which is extremely bumpy and fly many times. The first 1-1.5h and the last 1-1.5h drive back to the city are this way. I asked the driver Paul for changing to front but he was not helpful and even did not try and ask others for me. I put a note before I ordered this tour: I am senior with back pain and prefer to sit front if possible. In the future, the vendor may not sell the last row tickets or arrange seats fairly. The driver’s English is poor and the audio doesn’t reach the back so we did not get clear and knowable information compared with Golden Circle and South coast tours that we had during our visit . Even my native English speaker adult daughter could not understand what the driver said sometimes. He did not announce the drop off stops when we were back to downtown. It is easily to miss the bus stop that we should get off, since we are not familiar with the local bus stops in the dark and we almost missed our get-off stop. The vendor changed the pick up bus stop from # 6 to # 18, but they miscommunicated timely. I had to call Viator at 10/1 6 pm, the day before the tour and double confirmed the pick up bus stop station on 10/2 morning. Without my calling, we would miss the bus for sure. In 10/2, We arrived to the bus station #18 at 7:30 am (tour starts at 8 am) but the bus arrived late until 8:50 am. We stranded up in the cold windy and rainy weather so long…
It was not just a trip, but a memory of a lifetime! 💚 One of the most awaited trips… especially for any GOT fan, haha! 🐉✨ I’ll remember this day forever. A huge thank you to our guide, Tom, for sharing so much knowledge about Iceland, keeping us entertained throughout, and being incredibly patient with us! 😊 And a big thank you to Your Day Tours for making this dream come true and turning it into such a special, unforgettable moment. 🥹💚
Prepare for the weather - lots of outside time and on and off the bus. You cover a lot of territory and get to see a lot! There are rest room stops where you can get snacks but no meal time so plan for that if you need to. We would do it again. Our driver was great and told stories along the way
The seats were all filled up, small group but full of passengers. We were almost the last one to pick up and our seats were not comfortable. We spent most of the time inside the minibus to see the views outside but the Windows were dirty. The pockets in front of us were torn and we had to hold our bottle water all the way. Need to improve.
Maria was wonderful extremely knowledgeable regarding the places we visited. On the way she kept us enthralled with old Icelandic tales of Vikings , elves and trolls. I learnt such a lot of olds traditions as well as the history of the land I was visiting. She was also a great driver and kept us safe despite the drenching rains and heavy winds. Had a fantastic time.
It’s a long day on the road, but even in rainy weather it was worth it. Beautiful and diverse landscapes, fluffy sheep, Icelandic horses, and sooo many rainbows!
Bus was packed to maximum making back row extremely uncomfortable. Packed in like sardines back there.
I am glad I went, and our guide, Bruno, was just wonderful, warm, thoughtful of everyone, and insightful. He also paid close attention to the weather and thoughtfully constructed a path through the itinerary. I don’t know if this particular tour would be my top recommendation for Iceland though I was lucky to see it on a beautiful day. The itinerary is clear that it is a long driving day, and there is no real lunch stop. So just be prepared.
Great tour guide, and overall great day trip from Reykjavik where we didn’t have to worry about driving for a 12-hr day.
My friend and I had a wonderful time. Paul was the perfect driver and shared so much great history, geology and folklore. Snaellfeness is a wild and beautiful Peninsula but be careful! There are very few bathrooms.... Don't drink too much coffee before you go!
What a tour!!! Beautiful country side! Waterfalls-rainbows and A few extra stops with gorgeous “surprises”- knowledgeable guide- clean buses-clear pickup designations. Would do the tour again.
This is a long tour but, well worth the travel. From the scenery to the quirky churches, murals and sights, you will see things that are quintessential Iceland.
Guide Sergio is excellent and guided very well through out the tour and shown us the spots as planned with enough time to take the pictures. Locations are a must watch. Also Sergio gave us frequent toilet breaks and enough break to grab a bite in the afternoon. Overall it is an excellent tour.
Enjoyable days sightseeing with a small group tour, which makes for easy travel. Stops were all interesting. Tour guide was helpful and whole day went off without a hitch. All in all it was a very pleasant day.
This was my favorite of all the tours we did! The spots you go to are a must do. Su Chow was a great guide.
A long day but so worthwhile with amazing landscapes, seascapes and great tour guide Wictor Plenty of stops for photos
Fabulous tour of the peninsula. Arthur, our guide, was excellent. The beauty of Iceland was on show. We had perfect weather so that helped as well.
The bus journey is long but we all had a chance for a nap. Plenty of great stops. Nikki chose good toilet breaks.
It is great. You see so many isolated and beautiful areas. We are very glad that we chose this tour. Our guide, Elena, was very personable and talked just the right amount of time.
Nico was an amazing guide on this trip. In addition to seeing the sights, we got a lot of insight into what it is like to live in Iceland.
Fantastic tour . Loved every location . Tour guide was excellent. Enjoyed a lot of. Thank you so much 👍🏻 highlight was black sand beach and the seals . They are so cute . 🦭
This is a full day of sightseeing. There are so many things to see. The guide, Arthur, was awesome. We saw so many things that we would not have otherwise.
The tour company nor the guide can manage the weather, but a great guide will have insights and information to make you forget the weather is obscuring the views. Sadly, I don't feel that was the case here. I also don't really like when the guide is the driver, as it really takes away from any between-stop commentary. Overall, this was a great tour if you simply want a stress-free way to get Instagram shots of "the" sights on the peninsula. If you want culture, history, or other information bring your own guide book or audio guide. Given the weather, there was plenty of time at each stop to see what there was to see. Jakob was pleasant and responsive, and while he was personable, I don't think he really added much besides telling us how long we would be to the next stop, how long at the stop, and the name of the stop. He did have some anecdotes and for the first hour of the drive had some information on the politics and history. After that introduction, he was mostly informing of the names and duration of stops. The bus was full, but not terribly cramped. There were ample stops for bathroom and snacks.
I was hoping to see some charming little villages but this is not that. nonetheless, it was a great day of sightseeing even with the rain. so many different landscapes! best to bring your own lunch/ protein as lunch stop is 30 min with few choices. our guide, alex, was a great driver and very interesting. a long day that will really show you a lot!
It’s filled with beautiful sights and special energy for you to absorb and enjoy ! Our tour guide was very informative and attentive to all age groups .
We expected a full day tour with a guide who would educate us on Iceland. We did not receive that at all. We had a driver that did not speak or acknowledge us. The itinerary described us with stops at a coastal town to visit a local coffee shop, but rather we stopped at a gas station off of the interstate. The churches were very underwhelming and the entire tour was just very boring. There are many other places that we passed by that looked much more interesting and would have been much more enjoyable for everyone. I truly feel that whoever plans out the itinerary could have done a much better job.
Wonderful tour of the Peninsula. Experienced natural wonders and historic churches. Wildlife including coastal birds and seals. Got thoroughly drenched in spite of rainproof clothes. Guide Francesca was friendly and engaging. Shared many stories and drove safely. Offered chocolates as a farewell present. Great way to end our week-long stay in iceland!
The Snæfellsnes Peninsula really is "Iceland in a nutshell" and we saw everything with great pleasure. The black beaches (not so impressive as Reynisfjara, but very beautiful), the small simple churches, the seals, the small villages, the impressive Kirkjufell mountain made our day. We even had some sun to make our pictures even more awesome. Again, the guide didn't rise to the occasion. He pick up us with 15 minutes late (after 8:30) and then, having not found one of the tourists at his pick up point, the whole bus had to wait in a gas station, at the outskirts of Reykjavik, for that late passenger to arrive! I'm sure it wasn't the guide's fault for not finding the tourist at the pickup point, but to have the whole bus waiting, after just left, that wasn't at all nice! The guide (whose name I don't know) would better be called a "driver" and not a guide. He even managed to change a tire that went flat exactly when we arrived at Kirkjufell. So, a good driver but not at all a guide. He almost didn't speak. Fortunately, the scenery, the weather and the fact that we were in holiday saved the day.
Great way to see so much of west iceland in one day and capture an amazing variety of views. Our tour guide (Dovi) was incredible and so thoughtful with all the added stories and history and background during the trip. It’s a long day but beyond worth it.
Such a great tour from start to finish! The views were absolutely unreal, and every stop felt different from the last. It was one of those days where you just keep saying “wow.” Our guide was awesome .I learned so many interesting facts throughout the day without it ever feeling like a history lesson. The whole trip was really well organized, the timing at each stop was perfect, and I never felt rushed. Seeing the seals in the wild and exploring the Snæfellsnes Peninsula was definitely a highlight of my Iceland trip. Would 100% recommend this tour to anyone visiting Iceland!
What an incredible day! It was a long tour with plenty of stops, but we saw and experienced so much that every km felt worth it. Monica was an amazing guide - patient, knowledgeable, and always helpful. She kept the group engaged throughout the journey and made the long drives feel effortless with her warmth, energy, and great stories. Thanks to Monica, the day flew by and became one of the highlights of our trip. Highly recommended!
Well worth it for beauty and history and information about Iceland . Guide was knowledgeable beyond a normal person from Iceland.
We had a wonderful experience. The Spanish guide was very sweet and kind. We enjoyed nature, the black-sand beach, the mountains, and the churches.
Nico was the BEST tour guide! His sense of humor, knowledge of the area and attention to the needs of his passengers was outstanding! He was able to give us clear direction as to where to look and go see such wonders! It was so nice to have him answer our many questions as well as all the laughs we shared. What a delightful journey with the most spectacular sights! Highly recommend Viator tours!
Iceland is a beautiful place. I would use this service again. It’s easy to make payments and easy to add to the Apple Wallet.
Long but beautiful ride to the peninsula but worth every minute of it. Microcosm of Iceland awaits you. Fishing villages, craters, mountains and waterfalls. You will be blessed if Michel is your guide. He is informed and entertaining.
We had a fabulous day with Tomasz from Arctic Adventures. He had wonderful enthusiasm and seemed to truly love the area. All the stops were wonderful and interesting.
My favorite place in Iceland from now on. If I am coming back again definitely would love to stay in the North and explore more. Very beautiful sceneries, wildlife and atmosphere I really enjoyed. Guides were also very nice and helpful.
The trip felt a bit long, but the experience was priceless! Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and shared a lot of fun facts and history about Iceland!
I booked this tour last minute and I am so glad I did! Maria, our tour guide, was very knowledgeable and informative when it came to Icelandic history & folklore as well as the wildlife and geography of the areas we stopped at. If you are debating on whether or not to book it, you will miss out if you don’t!
Kerry and I had a wonderful day with Thomas from Arctic Adventures . His knowledge was vast and detailed providing us with an unforgettable experience and memories . Thank you Thomas !
Lovely small minibus tour of the west of Iceland. Driver was right mix of information and sitting back to enjoy the journey listening to a great mix of music. Just about the right amount of time at each place and very relaxed. I would say scenery is more stunning and untouched than the south coast. Definitely recommend this tour
Guna our guide was very professional and knowledgeable about all that we saw. She drove extremely well, was really friendly and gave a great commentary. Guna provided really clear timings between stops. What we saw was really interesting with absolutely stunning scenery. I found it a much more interesting and spectacular than the Golden Circle tour for instance. We were lucky enough to experience fabulous weather as well as getting to see seals in and out of the water. I would absolutely recommend this tour, this tour operator and specifically Guna.
This tour takes you everywhere on the peninsula, which seemed less touristy than the hotspots on your Golden Circle/South Coast tours, meaning often we had some spots all to ourselves! It was beautiful and our guide Dovilė even threw in an extra crater along the way since the weather was good passing by. I learned many cool facts from our awesome guide. 10/10 experience and very well worth it!!!
